An underrated fashion icon imo is Meiko Kaji. She had a sense of style that was modern, casual, comfortable, laid back, simple and elegant. Even tho it was the 70s she wore mostly pants rather than stereotypically feminine dresses and wasn’t afraid to dress androgynously. She had a very American fashion sense but also blended with minimalist Japanese overtones and a calm sense of cool.
