im gonna say it, and if youre white you do not get to comment, but in regards to that j-siper pocahontas au and the people in the comments of that post calling op out for whitewashing piper, i feel like we are focusing on the wrong thing here. just a little bit. the au itself is fucking abhorrent because it puts piper in the position of a girl, pocahontas, who was barely a teenager when she was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, married to a man against her will, and in the end, she died extremely young, and very far away from her home and family. disney took that story and romanticized the fuck out of it, to the point where it is unrecognizable. this movie perpetuates violence against native women. stop fucking making pocahontas j-siper aus.

Vanessa Guillen, a 20-year-old U.S. soldier, last seen on April 22 in a parking lot on the Fort Hood Army Base in central Texas.
Her car keys, barracks room key, identification card and wallet were later found in the armory room where she had been working earlier in the day. Her phone has yes to be found
Three weeks before her disappearance, Vanessa Guillen told her mother that she was being sexually harassed and followed by an Army sergeant, but was afraid to report him, according to the Guillen family who made a website to coordinate their search. Guillen did not disclose the name of the alleged perpetrator to her mother.
Remains were found a few feet from a pile of a burn mound that was searched June 20. Concrete had been poured over the remains, and subsequent rainstorms allowed the grave to settle into natural-looking terrain.
Identity of the remains have not been confirmed.
2 suspects were in custody one of the suspects died by suicide Wednesday morning when confronted by investigators in Killeen.
Texas Rangers have arrested the estranged wife of a former Fort Hood soldier in connection with the disappearance
3 other remains were found at that army base including Gregory Morales, Brandon Rosecrans & Zach Partin
Krysta Martinez, a former Fort Hood soldier who started the “Where is Vanessa” hashtag and who also filed complaints of sexual harassment at the base died in a Car Accident

We’re all having “hard conversations” about racism, police brutality, and #BlackLivesMatter I hope.
You’ve probably noticed that detractors often use the same “racist talking points” in response. Here’s a researched and sourced guide to help you answer, for the times you may get stuck.

riptide chapter 9
Katie sits between Grover and Percy on the couch while Annabeth stands at her mystery board, filling in some blanks.
“What do you mean you don’t know who you’re working for?” Annabeth asks, her brow furrowed. “How is that possible?”
Katie has her arms propped on her knees with her head in her hands. “I don’t know what to tell you. He’s very good about hiding his identity. All I know is he goes by Mercury and has super speed which is how he keeps tabs on all of us. It’s pretty hard to keep an eye out for someone you can’t see.”
Grover looks around the room like a prey animal who senses a predator. “Do you think he’s here right now?”
“No, he took Boar and Gemini on a mission to retrieve whatever it is he’s looking for. They’re not supposed to be back for a week or so. He just told me to keep you busy, and technically, I am doing exactly that.”
“You don’t even know who he’s the Champion of?” Percy asks.
Katie shakes her head as she leans back on the couch. “The only Houses I know of that could have super speed haven’t been active for at least three generations.”
“Well can you tell us more about Gemini?” Annabeth asks. “He’s the one in purple, right?”
“Yeah,” Katie confirms. “He’s kind of grumpy, to be honest. Not really a small talk guy.”
“What about his powers?” Percy asks.
“It’s kind of a mixed bag. Wild animals listen to him, and if he touches your forehead, he can make you lose it.”
“What do you mean lose it?”
“I mean the security guard at the first jewelry store we broke into spent a month in Bellevue before Mercury made him sneak in and return him to normal.”
“Jesus,” Percy says with disgust. “How the hell did that help anyone beat monsters however long ago?”
Katie shrugs. “My keeper said some powers have evolved over time, so that may not even be what that Champion started with. It can do different things to different people.”
“That’s so cool,” Grover says. “Bad but… pretty cool.”

On twitter I’m seeing dozens of threads from Black activists warning people against burnout, giving all sorts of useful tips about preventing and managing it for the sake of a long-term, sustainable effort.
On tumblr I’m seeing a hell of a lot of young white kids yelling at anyone who actually follows those steps, and acting like burnout is a moral falling rather than a well-proven psychological phenomenon.
Be careful who you get your information from. Don’t let guilt lead you to make choices that will harm both you and the movement.

This man has gone through so much for the criminal act of not letting a cop kill a man and face no consequences. He was jailed, an attempt was made on his life, and his efforts to be heard about the mistreatment he faced was suppressed.
Please consider donating to The Ramsey Orta Welcome Home Fund if you have something to spare. No one should have to endure the things he has endured for demanding justice.
look if you're cis dont reply to jk rowling and then screenshot your tweet and post it. donate to trans charities, specifically british trans charities, because jk lives here and has been informed by british politics. thats why shes a terf.
i know everyone likes to pretend trans rights issues are universally similar, but trans rights issues in the uk are wildly different. fight on the context she is
mermaidsuk, which helps trans youth get help
albert kennedy trust, helps homeless lgbt people (the uk currently has one dedicated homeless shelter for lgbt people, and its in london)
all about trans, which is trying ensure trans people are better represented in the media
trans rights are human rights, and trans people in the uk deserve our voices heard as much as trans americans. jk rowling is noy an anomaly, and represents the average british feminist. fighting against terfs requires systematic change, something british trans people not only cant do alone, but something we have to try and do as terfs actively lobby the government to take away our human rights (with there currently being talk of a bill which would cause under 18s to lose the ability to begin transitioning in any form, and a member of the house of lords currently waxing romantically about having trans rights removed in multiple areas)
you have to understand that talking the jk doesn't work. she doesnt care. use your time productively and spread these charities around. dont even reblog this post if you dont want to, make your own. just make it known that trans people in the uk are used to people acting like this, and soon we may not be able to do anything about them at all
Okay Bernie stans.
I need you all to prepare yourselves to vote for Biden in November.
I’m not happy about it either. I wanted Elizabeth Warren to destroy Trump on the debate floor. I wanted to watch her shatter the glass ceiling. I wanted student loan forgiveness, Medicare for All, and refugee and immigrant protections.
But I’m not going to get that. So I am going all in for Biden.
This can no longer be a matter of “well if I don’t get my way THEN I’M NOT VOTING”. I’d hoped you all learned your lessons four years ago, but from what I’ve seen on social media, that’s not been the case. Biden is not ideal but he is better than the alternative. He is a Democrat who will continue Obama’s legacy. And you have a shot in hell of getting progressive movements like Medicare for All under a blue majority Congress; we do not have that under Trump.
Biden is more willing to listen to the progressive factions of the Democrat party than Trump is. We will get shit done under him.
We cannot survive a second term of Trump. I need you all to hold your noses, put on your big girl pants, and deal with it. Prepare to vote for Biden.

Annabeth doesn’t show up at work the next day. Or the next. Or even the day after that. By Thursday, Percy feels himself going a little crazy from resisting the urge to reach out and ask if everything is okay. But he knows he’s said his piece and, really, there’s nothing more he’d like to add.
Except that’s a lie.
He wants to tell her every single thing he loves about her. The way this love came in light rainfall, gently soothing his skin as she’d laugh and dig her toes into his thigh while they watched a movie. The way it crashed over him, stealing every breath in one, terrifying instant as she ran her fingers down his back while they kissed. The way it laps at every inch of his being even now, persistent, constant, and unyielding.
Thankfully, any time he feels the desire to text even the shortest of messages, Percy lets either Grover or Rachel take his phone from him. Mainly Grover. Every time he looks at Rachel, he can’t help but feel guilty, even if earlier that week Rachel had told him about someone down in the warehouse department who she’s been talking to, and maybe even more so after learning about that. It doesn’t help that he also has to fight a wave of bitterness rising in his throat every time he glances over at Annabeth’s desk — which happens way more times than he’d like to admit — and consequently remembers their argument from that weekend.
All in all, Percy desperately wishes to go back to the way things were. Hell, he’d even take the antagonism that had existed between the two of them, anything but this silence, this dreadful not knowing.
It snows that night. Heavy, wet, thick snowflakes that melt as soon as they touch skin, yet somehow stay perfectly formed on top of his curly hair. It only serves to deepen the already-present chill within his bones. He fumbles with his key with cold fingers as he opens the door and shucks his jacket off with a short huff. Usually getting back to his apartment would feel like a blessing after such a long work day and such a windy evening, but he can’t find the energy to find that feeling tonight. All he has are empty space and dark rooms before him, and Percy can only remember to lock the door behind him before sinking to the ground, utterly exhausted.

Riptide Chapter 7
Annabeth paces furiously back and forth through the living room, taking small breaks to stop and give Percy death stares as he sits on the couch, his knee nervously bouncing up and down.
“Annabeth, will you please sit down?” he begs, desperate for a chance to explain.
“Why? So you can keep lying to my face?” she asks as she stops at the window and whips around. “I knew something had been going on with you but I thought you took like… a confidence seminar or something, not that you became a goddamn superhero!”
Percy runs his hands over his face. “I didn’t know when to tell you.”
She stops abruptly and crosses her arms to stare him down. “Definitely before we made out on your bed.”
He hangs his head. “That… is a great point. You’re completely right, I should have told you. I fucked up. I’m so so so sorry.”
Annabeth exhales and sits across from Percy on the coffee table, as if the wave of initial anger has left her exhausted. “You’re an asshole.”
Percy scoots forward until he’s sitting on the edge of the couch and reaches out to take Annabeth’s hand in his. “I’m so sorry, Annabeth. I wanted to tell you, I swear.”
“So why didn’t you?” she asks, and the hurt in her voice makes Percy want to crawl into a hole and never come out.
“This whole thing…” he starts, not entirely sure how to explain. “It got really complicated really fast. This isn’t meant as an excuse but I thought that by not telling you, I was keeping you safe. All I have ever wanted was to keep you safe. Please believe me.”
Annabeth bites her bottom lip as she scans Percy’s face. He keeps eye contact as he lifts her hand to his lips and tenderly places a kiss to it, praying to whoever is listening that he hasn’t fucked this up before it has even had a chance to really begin.
She looks over at Grover for a moment, who begins to stir, and she smiles. “I can’t believe it’s just been you and Grover this whole time. How the hell are you still alive?”
Percy’s heart soars as Annabeth’s hand squeezes his back, and he laughs. “Pure luck.”

thank you for 2k! here’s the most self indulgent thing i’ve ever written
Annabeth slouches in the passenger side of Percy’s Jeep, tossing her plastic bag and kicking her shoes to the floor. Her GPS tells her they’re just outside the Pennsylvania/Ohio border, which Annabeth could tell anyone from the breeze blowing through the open windows from Lake Erie, encouraging her to kick her feet up on the warm dash. The sun on her toes and the open road beyond the parking lot make up for the smell of gasoline and sound of gruff voices on the other side of the pump.
She rolls the windows up to savor the scent of Percy’s car—which is somehow immaculately clean while distinctly that of a college kid. The seats are a bit sticky for her thighs in this heat, but there isn’t a stain on the upholstery in sight. The back is just as tidy, though it’s obscured by the heaps of supplies Annabeth packed in case of emergency. Or fun. Or extreme stupidity, which, really, the two of them going cross-country in a two-seater is bound to entail. She gives them until they reach the Midwest, tops. Probably sooner.
While Annabeth stares at her phone to figure out the best way to avoid traffic, the driver’s door opens, bringing the sound of a rustling bag and the slight jostle of the suspension when Percy hoists himself into his seat.

May 18, 2020. João Pedro Mattos Pinto was murdered by the police IN HIS HOME in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro. he was only 14. when the police murdered him, he was PLAYING in his own backyard. his house now has at least 72 bullet holes in it’s walls. and his mom’s heart has one giant hole, that one type that is impossible to be ever filled again.
this happened exactly a week before George Floyd’s murder. João Pedro was black too.
it doesn’t matter where you from. all cops are bastards. all of them. brazillian ones. us cops. even the ones from your country. all of them serve the same racist purposes.
João Pedro should be remembered. his life and Floyd’s matter so much.
so much respect for the protesters in Minneapolis.
since i have not seen anybody share information on this here, please pay attention to the philippines right now and provide any support you can. if this bill passes, people's basic rights to free speech will be taken from them.
anyone seeing this from the ph, please stay safe and stay strong. these are scary times.
