This weekend is going to be my busiest so far. I have a ton of auditions, a couple of events I want to try and make it to, and my homework load is finally picking up. Iām in my element.

Hey, a random piece of advice from your fellow interpreter with ADHD: if you really struggle with prioritizing information when taking notes in class, I recommend looking into the method of note-taking for simultaneous/consecutive interpreting. Hereās a book on it by Andrew Gilles that we were offered in university. There are more manuals online and more videos about the method.
If someone isnāt familiar with it, the purpose of SI note-taking is to break large blocks of information into easily memorized sentences that get attached to further informative pieces through personalized association. The method is to use the least space/symbols possible under least time spent to retain as much information as you can.
For example, instead of writing down that āit was raining yesterday but today the sun is shiningā, an interpreter can put down something like āāŖā(b)š½šā and they will know what it means in given context.
Symbol language in interpretation is entirely personal and depends on the professional in question. Some concepts are given ārecommended symbolsā in different manuals, for example, arrows tend to imply direction within time continuum.
If youād like to use it, you can start by trying to take notes of a certain lecture, book paragraph, or any piece of information through symbolic note-taking. From my experience, it does help to prioritize the āimportantā information aka āwho-where-how-what-when-whyā with the details being added on as necessary.
Hope someone finds it useful!

If youād ever decide to suddenly try doing a high intensity working out, let me give you a few words of advice. Do your stretches like a prayer. Because I didnāt. And now Iām in so. Much. Physical. PAIN.Ā
My weekend was fun regardless the screaming burn in my body. Luckily, my ever so cooperative arms and hands are always able to deliver. Hereās my page of the week!Ā š„
This week, I tried to add in more color by using some colorful tape I found in our stationery box. I couldnāt use markers because I tried all sorts of it on this one, but it always bleeds through. Also, Iāll stop trying to use the neon yellow pen because it really has a bad contrast to white. You might be thinking, well, duh. But I really wanted the stars to be yellow! :cĀ
Anyway, Iāll probably be adding more doodles and stickers in eventually, but d e s p a c i t oĀ . š¶ sĀ l o w l y y yyyĀ
My goals are somewhat steadier now at this point. Main keys are exercise, cleaning, and learning! The main focus when I do my tasks for this week is to find a suitable pacing. So yes, adjustments~!Ā
Thatās all for now, and Iām hoping for a great week ahead for yaāll!Ā

i'm not journaling as often as i used to and i'm really okay with it. i guess what i want to say is that you don't have to be creative when you don't feel like it. it's as simple as that. to be able to enjoy your journey, you have to listen to yourself and honor your process.

The last few weeks have just been working, drinking coffee, rushing to catch lectures and then studying until late. On repeat. It has been so long since Iāve needed to study this much; but I can feel my french getting better everyday, so the hard work has been worth it ĖŹā”ÉĖ
Iāve been working on being more conscious of how I write emails, and made this handy printable guide! I have a bad habit of overusing exclamation points, emojis, and qualifiers like ājustā and āpossiblyā to sound extra-friendly and non-threatening in emails. (āJust wondering / just confirming / just checking / just making sure / just wanted to let you knowā) You are allowed to take up space. Your voice deserves to be heard. Your opinions matter. You donāt need to apologize for existing or asking for what you need. You are not ābossyā or ābitchyā for not sounding like a pep-machine 24/7. If you act like a doormat, you better develop a taste for shoe leather. You have power too. Donāt be afraid to stand up for yourselfā no one else is gonna do it for you.
