I've been seeing so many Thunderbolts tower fic headcanons where they say something along the lines of "Bob stays behind and does the household chores" or "Bob loves to help out around the house" all because of the end credit scene where he says he did the dishes.

I don't think people are realising he said "I did the dishes though!" the way he did, because it was an accomplishment. If you can do the dishes every day, saying you did the dishes means nothing. Bob is a canonically mentally ill character who struggles with depression and related issues. Doing the dishes isn't something he would enjoy or be proficient in, I know from experience. He makes sure to point it out so clearly and proudly because that was a monumental achievement, to do the dishes. He said it how he did because he wanted to show that he WAS able to contribute to the household and was carrying his weight.

Bob doesn't "love" to do the dishes or the household chores. It's something he struggles with, that is a task and a challenge for him daily. People headcanoning that he loves to help out all the time are clearly missing the point of that line in that scene and also like, so much of who he is as a character. Its just mischaracterisation.

Maverick werewolf au where the transformations are impossible to ignore, super painful, and super exhausting, but he still has full control of himself.

Maverick and Iceman were deployed to the same base, again.

Ice didn't hate the guy; their rivalry had turned into friendship, but the man was irritating sometimes, no more irritating than right now when he got both of them in trouble for something entirely innocuous.

They were being chewed out by an admiral for something Ice doesn't quite care about anymore, and it's been hours, leaving Ice annoyed at having to stand for such a long time for something Maverick started.

As the night wore on, Ice noticed Maverick starting to sweat. A vindictive thought races through his head that the man deserves the discomfort before how pale he is registers.

The admiral finally lets them leave, getting a promise from both of them to attend to some sort of clean-up duty Ice will have to ask Maverick for later. As the time wore on, he started single-mindedly focusing on how the other pilot deteriorated.

Ice tries to get Maverick's attention as they walk back to their rooms, both right next to each other but still separate.

He hears the man's breathing become labored as they walk at a pace barely slower than jogging, concern starting to overwhelm him as the other man doesn't stop or even acknowledge he's being talked to from a few feet behind him.

At one point, he obviously grabs his chest, and Ice nearly bolts to him to bring him to medbay.

They get to their rooms before he can put the thought into action.

With the little head start Maverick has, he's already got his door open by the time Ice reaches him, stumbling in and trying to close the door weakly as he collapses just out of sight of the hallway.

Ice, truly panicking now and trying to understand why the other man hadn't gone to medbay, rushes to help, closing the door more solidly behind him.

Before he can get a word out, he's interrupted by a guttural snarl followed by a sound of pure agony.

The man before him keeps his place on the floor, curled around his midsection and panting like he'd run miles without stopping. Within one second and the next, there's another snarl that sounds suspiciously like "back up," and the man before him contorts and twists on the floor.

He watches as Maverick twists and turns, agony laced in every noise he makes, each noise getting deeper as time goes on.

It's only a minute. 60 seconds and Ice is backed against the wall, watching as his friend turns into something else.

He grows fur and claws and fangs, growing in size but shrinking in on himself all the same.

Then there are claws around his neck and a hot muzzle in his face, breath puffing and messing up his hair as the creature pants the obvious pain away, possibly pushing it down to threaten the man in front of it.

"Maverick?" is said in the space between them, soft and small and frightened. Ice doesn't know what to do. He doesn't know what he's just witnessed.

The muzzle starts snuffling at him, pressing into his cheek and then his shoulder. The thing blinks and lets go, backing up and settling down on painful-looking haunches, guilt and panic etched in the lines of its shoulders.

Ice doesn't know what to do.

His body does, and the next thing he knows is darkness.

Ice wakes up surrounded by warmth and what sounds like a purr or a growl, idly noting that he's lying on something that's breathing.

When this tidbit registers in his head, he bolts up and away from the creature, followed by pain-filled eyes but no movement.

No more fainting, Thomas.

The creature lets out a whine, sinking impossibly further into the floor and panting in obvious pain once again, an alarm goes off in the bedroom and Ice checks his watch for the time.

05:30.

The creature twists, another guttural noise exiting from its chest as it starts shrinking, and its fur disappears, leaving a panting and shivering Maverick in its place, little whines escaping him on every breath.

"Maverick?" Ice gets to his knees, hands hovering over the still-pale man, not knowing what to do.

He feels heat radiating off Maverick, eventually settling a hand across his brow (met with a flinch and a groan) to find a fever.

"Shit, Mav. You're burning up, I'll call-"

"Already did." Maverick is looking at him blearily.

"What?"

"I called out for today yesterday. This isn't- it's not the first time. I'm sorry." Maverick winces as he goes to sit up, holding his abdomen and weakly trying to preserve his modesty with his other hand.

Ice doesn't know what he's apologizing for. The man is in pain and apologizing. "Why?"

"What?"

"Why are you sorry? Maverick, that looked painful. Why are you apologizing?"

Maverick shakes his head and goes to stand, legs too shaky to support him before Ice has enough of watching him struggle and helps him up and to the nearby couch, covering the man in the blanket thrown over the back.

Ice grabs his chin once Maverick has situated himself under the blanket, still violently shivering. "I'm freaked out right now-"

Maverick's expression contorts into one of pure fear, opening his mouth and reaching out in the same second before Ice shakes his head gently by the chin.

"Let me finish. I'm freaked out right now because something weird just happened and apparently, you're some sort of werewolf, I think. But the fact of the matter is, it didn't look like you could control it, hell, look at you, you can barely control your own hands after that whole thing."

Maverick smirks a little, fear fading out and replaced with no little amount of confusion. "You're taking this well."

A dry reply is the only thing Ice can think to give. "You're obviously in pain, and lucky I'm not dragging you to medical right now, which I think would be a bad idea anyway if we're being honest. I think caring about your wellbeing has just overridden the confusion and maybe panic for now."

Maverick simply looks at him knowingly, stomach making the loudest noise Ice has ever heard and causing the man's face to turn red in embarrassment.

Ice smirks and stands up straight, moving to the small kitchen to make the man a sandwich, pulling out his phone to make a quiet call to ensure he's free for the day.

He returns to the couch and sits next to Maverick, whose eyes are drooping with obvious exhaustion.

Ice takes a bite of his own sandwich and watches as Maverick eats like a starving man, sandwich gone in no time flat.

While Ice finishes his own breakfast, Maverick drifts closer and closer to sleep, small snores eventually coming from him as he tips his head back into the couch cushions.

Ice goes into the man's bedroom and searches for a pair of underwear and sleep shorts, putting them gently on the couch before cleaning up the mess of shredded clothing the man left behind last night.

Once he's done throwing away the shredded fabric, he nudges Maverick awake enough to get the underwear and shorts on with a bit of grumbling, then helps the man to his bed.

As Maverick settles into his bed, Ice covers him with the blanket and smoothes his hair from his face, an almost-purr coming from the man in the bed.

Ice shakes his head, "We'll talk about this when you wake up."
