Dreamed that I opened a book an there were beetles hiding in the pages. I turned the page and there was a snake. I flipped the book over but the snake came at me. I grabbed it’s tail and smashed it against the wall but it wouldn’t die. I wrapped it up in plastic bags to suffocate it but I could feel its body thrashing. I felt terrible. I didn’t want to prolong its suffering but I didn’t want it to hurt me.
Dreamed that there was a tornado outside the house. Everything was dark and the whole house was shaking and when I looked out the window, I could see the tail of the tornado dragging down the road. I lay down on my stomach and put my hands over the back of my head. My grandmother walked through the dark and shaking house as if nothing were wrong.

THREE HOURS HOLY SHIT. Good job!! What was it in response to?
thanks! I don’t usually work that fast so I was pleased. It’s in response to “Like Water for Chocolate.”
SPOILER: Tita should have married John, Pedro wasn’t worth it.
But the book had this recurring imagery about fire as passion and how your bone marrow actually contains the ingredients to create match heads so that’s why passion burns you up.
One of my grad classes on Thursday requires a creative piece in response to a reading assignment and I just painted this thing fast as dicks. Three hours!

Progress! The halo will be done with metallic paint at the end. Man, the iPhone camera flattens the FUCK out of this painting.

Shout out to redangusart for talking me through my hissy fit about the neck in this painting.
Also check out his art.

My new method of warming up. Go to humanae, pick a random face, do a contour line drawing. No erasing, no plotting out proportions.

So, along with working part time, taking a summer class online, applying for scholarships, doing art for zines that I've applied to (provided my work is accepted), finding an apartment and preparing to move for grad school, I want to finish this painting over the summer. It's of Saint Christina the Astonishing, and it's going to be a gift for my therapist.
