some of y'all: science has more evidencial support than religion, and it is the more reliable and believable truth. in the ancient contest between empiricial science and religion, modern achievements have declared science as more accurate and the better source of truth.

the truth: Scientific empiricism and religion aim to understand different kinds of truths, and they have never truly been at odds. Science gives the mechanical explanation of the world. Religion gives a philosophical explanation. Both are inexorably intertwined, but each have their own realm of study. In the last 3000 years, men of science have typically also been men of religion. Much of modern science today relies upon the accomplishments and theories of men who were religious. Further, if you devote serious time to the study of either the sciences OR religions and philosophy, you will discover that there are very few discrepancies and they actually correspond to one another. The real problem comes when science attempts to make a philosophical observation, or when religion attempts to make a mechanical observation. Religion’s role is not to explain how clouds form, how cells function, or how light travels. Science’s role is not to explain the meaning of life, whether or not God exists, and what morality is. All in all, each are good and legitimate areas of study.

The heart chakra - the wellspring of love, warmth, compassion, and joy is located in the center of the chest at the heart level.

Anahata moves love through your life.

It is the center of your deep bonds with other beings, your sense of caring and compassion, your feelings of self-love, altruism, generosity, kindness, and respect.

Anahata is an integrating and unifying chakra - bringing to wholeness - as such, it is your healing center. Indeed, most spiritual traditions recognize love as the ultimate healing force.

The energy of anahata allows us to recognize that we are part of something larger, that we are interconnected within an intricate web of relationships extending through life and the universe.

Anahata allows us to recognize and get in touch with the sacred and fundamental truth that runs through all of life and connects everything together.

The “way of the heart” or the “path of the heart” is living your life from this energy center of love.

It means living your life with loving kindness and compassion towards others. It means that your heart is open to others and you inspire kindness and compassion in others. You create safe and supportive environment.

Others can feel your love and warmth. They feel loved and accepted unconditionally. People feel at peace around you, as there is no judgment coming from you.

When anahata is open and energy is flowing freely, you are not only loving to others, you are also loving to your self. You know when you need to say no and when you need care and self-nurturing.

All of the seven chakras are important and while I cannot say that the heart chakra is the most important, I do want to say that it is very important.

Most of the world’s spiritual traditions recognize love as the unifying force, the energy that is the most fundamental part of the universe, and of ourselves.

To open to  love is to reach to the deepest places and connect with our true essence, our spirit, and our soul.

Signs your fourth chakra may be out of balance

The heart chakra can become imbalanced as a result of life experiences that have a strong emotional charge, physical illments, or significant changes in your environment. It may manifests as a blockage in the energy flow or, on the contrary, a tendency to become overactive or have an excess of energy.

You can see the following signs of imbalance in the heart chakra :

Being overly defensive

Feeling closed down

Jealousy; fear of intimacy

Codependency, relying on other’s approval and attention, trying to please at all cost

Always putting oneself in the role of the savior or the rescuer; or on the contrary, falling into victimization

Excessive isolation, being recluse, antisocial

Holding grudges, not being to forgive

At the physical level, it can manifest as:

Respiratory ailments, such as lung infection, bronchitis

Circulatory and heart-related issues

Simple ideas to balance the heart chakra

To get started, try out these few simple practices:

Work with the breath to balance your energy; observe it, play with it with breathing exercises

Cultivate your appreciation for beauty, whether it’s in nature, people or in the arts

Practice self-care and love your body up,

Cultivate self-compassion and acceptance, especially with regards to your emotions and body

Engage in activities that feed your heart

Focus on receiving if you are naturally inclined to be a giver; and on giving if you’re more inclined to receive all the time

Reflect on old wounds inherited from family relationships and come to terms with them compassionately; practice forgiveness deep within your heart

Express your gratitude, even if it’s in silence; you can be grateful for the presence of other people in your life or simply for good things that make your life easier and happier.

Misunderstood Houses

I’ve been thinking about the houses lately, and I think we tend to get a little stuck in buzzwords and as a result, we can struggle with the concepts. Here are some of my concepts of the houses I think this happens with the most.

6th house: To me, this is the house of healing. Buzzwords often thrown around for this house include: service, daily work, habits, health, pets, organization. I think the common thread here is what heals or is healthy to you, and how you seek to heal others. What you do every day has the biggest impact on your health, and so it lives in the 6th house. Acts of service heal others, and so they live in the 6th house. Transits through the 6th house may affect your health, but they may also affect the healing energy you bring to others, or simply an aspect of the systems that keep you healthy.

8th house: This is the house of transformations, the house of things that break you and remake you. This is a house we don’t like to show others, because it contains the parts of our lives that are direct lines to our souls. This house is often said to rule over money, sex, death, secrets, addiction, etc. These are the things that have the ability to crush us, or turn us into completely different people. “Occult” things are often placed in this house as well, but I think a more accurate word would be “faith” or “religion” because these have the ability to penetrate to our souls. Placements and transits through the 8th house don’t necessarily mean we will be transformed, but that the things that have the ability to transform us will be affected.

10th house: This house is often associated with careers, and that’s not exactly wrong, but I think its fundamental concept is a bit broader. This is the house of your life’s work. What are your ambitions? What will you seek recognition in? What do you want to accomplish in your life? Your inclinations are shown here. It’s true that the concept of life’s work often aligns with someone’s career, but astrology predates capitalism and you don’t have to make a living off it for it to be your life’s work.

Sun and the moon, what is conscious verses what is subconscious. The sun serves the ego and the moon serves your emotional response. Your emotional response is tied to the subconscious and all throughout the day whatever we see or experience sits in our subconscious. The ego is what’s on the surface. The moon is extremely important, and it’s needs are imperative to navigating your souls purpose. So you need to nourish your moon, you need to comfort it, you have to be aware of what it needs. The moon is also your guide, as it’s the transition from your south node to your north node. 🌿
