Cliff Burton facts that make me love him even more

His inspirations were Geddy Lee (Rush), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Stanley Clarke (Animal Logic), and Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy). He said that Lemmy was his inspiration for using distortion with his tone.

The intro to Damage, Inc. was written and performed by Cliff. It was 8-12 tracks of bass with harmonies, volume swells, and effects.

His favorite song off of Master Of Puppets was the title track.

He was the only bass player that was the exception for Dave Mustaine’s “bass rule”. Dave felt that bass was the second easiest instrument to learn but Dave felt Cliff was the exception for that due to his talent.

He once got arrested in London for suspected possession of drugs. The only thing they found was his cold medicine and he was quickly released.

Before their infamous 1985 Day Of The Green performance, Cliff and Lars Ulrich were getting into an argument backstage and a journalist overheard Cliff say to Lars “One more word from you and I’m gonna fucking punch you.”

While Metallica was staying with Jonny and Marsha Zazula, Cliff would help put their daughter, Rikki Lee to bed. He would then read her a bedtime story and he did this every night while staying with them.

When he would slap his fingers against the bass strings when he would play, Geezer Butler inspired that technique and Cliff called it the “floppy-finger-technique”.

When Cliff was a kid and practicing bass, you could only talk to him by going to his room. He’d come out holding his bass and would tell his parents and sister “Come into my bedroom and talk to me, I need to practice.”

When Cliff was in middle school, he went to the school his mother (Jan Burton) taught at. But in spite of the many people he surrounded himself with in his adulthood, he was a very introverted person in middle school. He always preferred reading and while he was describe as a gentle and kind person, he was also always himself.

I think Wilson is my fav character because he's just as insane as House you just don't notice it because he's nicer. House will say some crazy shit like "I'm going to experiment on a pregnant woman" and Wilson is the type to go "yeah that sounds like something you'd do" then help with zero convincing needed. An entire episode where he made an enemy of a billionaire and got fired because his best buddy who commits medical malpractice every single day was being scrutinized. House could literally text him "let's quit our jobs and start an emo band" and Wilson will be at his door in ten minutes saying "this is a terrible idea" with a guitar on his back
