i keep watching youtube videos but you know what I need to do? not study, crochet, draw, or learn physics. i need to be going through my steam backlog because obviously this is the most important thing that needs to be done.
I believe rape is bad even if the victim is someone I don't like and is universally agreed upon to be a bad person
Do Only Some Black Trans Lives Matter to You?
117 original posts on tumblr about Sam Nordquist, multiple in the hundreds of notes, not even counting posts memorializing Lisa or Tahiry too. more needed, but comparatively a lot of coverage when you consider:
6 original posts about Tahiry Broom, a 29 year-old Black trans female sex worker that was killed five days earlier and reported on at the same time as Sam. two of those original posts are memorializing all trans people that have passed this year, and only one has more than 30 notes.
(link to more awful evidence on how ignored Tahiry's passing has been in comparison to Sam's and in general)
how can we be so cruel as to create and perpetuate a hierarchy when it comes to how worthy of care a Black trans death is? to validate the oppressive systems that ended her? this community's transmisogynoir and disregard for the lives of sex workers is sickening. and it's the exact reason her murderer called 33 Black female sex workers (including other trans women) and eventually Tahiry when he was looking to lure someone to her death. it's the exact reason this young woman died 12 days before her birthday.
esp pghlesbian who works in tandem with Trans Doe Task Force and therefore is usually the first to report (btw, consider donating to her legal defense and blog expenses as she's too disabled to work and has been sued by transphobes)

[ID: A cropped screenshot of an online article by Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents. The article's title says "29 Year Old Black Trans Woman Tahiry Broom Killed in Detroit" with smaller text below it saying "February 14, 2025 by Sue". A photo below shows Tahiry, a young woman with a soft face and warm brown skin. She has a short, straight, sleek black bob. Her baby hairs are laid down. She has a filter that makes her thin eyes a grey-blue underneath her long false eyelashes. Her medium-to-wide nose turns up at the end, and her thick, glossy lips seem to be puckered for the photo. Her eyebrows are black and thinned out, and she seems to be wearing a black salon cape buttoned over her multicolored blouse. A chest tattoo of what seems to be a dark green vine peeks out from under the cape. She is beautiful. Below the photo, text reads "Tahiry 'Tokyo' Broom via family". End image description.]
it's time for the avatar franchise to end. korra sucked and is basically remembered as a mediocre series that did one cool thing at the end. the live action was a flop. the comics were pretty shit too. nobody wants a third avatar series and even the people who think they want one are just going to complain the whole time because it's going to be bad just like everything made since the original series has been
'we need weirder queers'
you cant handle when like. a trans guy has boobs.
it is so, so, so funny to interact with people that don't super know embroidery, who try to pick out which of my projects is more... skilled? or whatever. one time i had someone tell me to my face that my linework wasn't impressive and anyone could do backstitches, and they had learned how to backstitch last week so they could say this. someone else I've been teaching how to sew here and there told me that some patches I made recently and haven't put on this blog yet were true skill and above their skill level - they wanted to start with something easy! like massive block lettering on a stretchy tshirt!
listen. i honestly do try my best to not be bitchy about stuff. but if you not-joking-joked that you wanted to watch a video essay from hbomb on the kendrick-drake rap beef. i think that you are obligated to watch fd signifier's 3 hour video essay. i KNOW the watch time is not the issue.
tbh i think it's just really important, now more than ever, that americans (and tbh, just ppl from the imperial core in general) start to actually reading up on south african history, laws and politics. there will absolutely be an uptake in anti-south african (especially anti BLACK south africans) propaganda both online and in american politics, even from so-called american leftist spaces, and i absolutely refuse to be the one who has to hold your hand and remind you that me and my people are human !
Idk man. You wanna make Christianity progressive? Grill yourself to death on the capital steps for trans rights.
It seems like some of the most anti-trans people on Twitter actually have a trans kid who cut contact with them.
ngl i still think it was crazy when ksi caught all the backlash for lunchly when there were also two other people involved
i guess it was justifiable because ksi did respond directly but im not gonna pretend like mr beast wasn't saying anything about it
the way the ipad has undone literal decades of tech literacy is actually unforgiveable
reading comic books but shaking my head to let people know i dont agree with any of the pro american propaganda that may be within
my favorite thing right now is how mad the official french language people are that parts of african languages are getting mixed into french
getting into rap is actually really easy because once you hear a song with a beat that goes sufficiently hard, any preconceived notions you have about why you can't get into hip hop go right out the window and the appeal snaps into place. like I was a fucking obnoxious egghead nerd in high school who would give the old "everything except rap and country" when asked what kind of music I liked but the minute I heard Hard In Da Paint and started vibing I was like ohhhh yeah I get it now
The thing that particularly drives me nuts about the whole rap thing is that you could spend the rest of your life not listening to any rap at all and nobody would know. No one will ever quiz you. No one REALLY cares whether you, personally, listen to rap. People talking about cultural attitudes towards Black art are not thinking about you, specifically. Nobody is writing and going "And if Tumblr user so-and-so reads this they'll know I know they only listen to Broadway musicals and that I think they're a RACIST." I cannot fathom the kind of mindset required to see a discussion about the knee-jerk negative reaction people have towards rap and immediately turn that discussion into a confessional where you're like "I don't listen to rap but here are my specific and valid reasons why" like who the fuck are you and why should anybody care. Get over yourself!!
This is Sam Nordquist. He was a transgender man who was lured to my hometown back in September by his Internet girlfriend. She and four other individuals then proceeded to torture and kill him, leaving his body in a field. I'm absolutely gutted. The misunderstanding for the trans community that leads to this sort of hatred is something that I just will never understand. I'm so sorry, Sam. You deserved so much more than this.
If you are able, please donate and share the GoFundMe set up by his sister. She and Sam's mom have made it to New York, but now they will have to go through the horrible process of arranging his funeral and transporting his body back home.

can we all just unanimously agree not to make assumptions about experiences people have had irl based on someone's takes about a piece of fiction no matter how """media illiterate""" it is
firefox is just such a standard browser for anyone remotely interested in computers that remembering basically every normal person uses google chrome feels like a kick in the head
Forgot to say that I should probably split my facts into two with all the ones I did get citations for first and then reblog when I get all the other citations
Wanted to do one with their music tastes too but that's a lot (they're so white LMAO)
Here's a tumblr post I have in the drafts that I haven't touched in a hot minute. I'm just too lazy to find sources for some of these. Also I should probably split it into Bread and Banana.
I don't know if some of these are jokes (Bumble; math major)
Bread made jokes about Banana being an english major but I have no clue
Yea its kinda hard sometimes to tell if they're joking or not 😔 I think the bumble one was probably a joke? I interpreted it as a joke when I heard it
I guess something you could add is that bread starts texts with capital letters and banana doesn't? (From the valentines video)
not exaggerating when i say this is the best post anyone ever made in human history
DAY 5: they're gonna get kicked out the ikea...
