It’s too late to save the world
Ash trees sprout in cracks in the asphalt. The gutters collect leaves, which become soil, in which dandelions sprout.
There’s nothing you can do
A man plants an entire forest. A young girl teaches a drone to deliver saplings. The elderly volunteer to clean up radioactive waste.
You might as well give up
Wolves return to ancestral hunting grounds. Bison return to the prairie. Otters return to the kelp beds. Young oaks push roots deep into reclaimed farmland.
Who cares anyway?
Children draw pictures of flowers. Festivals are held for cherry blossoms and pecans and apples. A crowd cheers as the last line is cut away from the ensnared creature.
I have disobeyed worse than you
The world does not die on my watch
The world is less scary and chaotic if you lie down on the floor
Noticing different kinds of light (stars, candles, sunshine or city lights) can bring back the feeling of wonder and hope
If you can’t shower, washing your hands and face will help you feel better and cleaner
If you can’t clean anything else, changing and/or washing your bedsheets can do wonders
Fresh air and being outside in general can help with depersonalisation
Spending time around animals can help you recognise what’s important and calm anxious thought cycles
Techniques for emotional regulation in children can really help adults too
Putting random asortment of food on a plate without creating an actual dish still counts as a meal
Drink something warm
Delete that app
Treat yourself as if you were a kid. Buy yourself a toy, play around, learn about cool new things
Fast paced life isn’t morally better and it’s not good for everyone
There is no good reason to keep yourself hungry
Singing to your full lung capacity can be a great way to let out built up emotion
Tension in the face can cause headaches. Try to massage your face regularly
Nothing is as important as your health
You are a whole person on your own, you don’t need someone else to be there to deserve love and attention. Your life can be full as long as you are present
You should cry things out whenever you feel like it
Slow walks are still movement and they do count
It’s never as bad as you imagine it
Try changing your toothpaste flavor if you hate brushing your teeth
Anything can be a stim toy - one of my favourites is a heavy dragon necklace that has a complicated surfice. It’s fun to touch and hold and it’s not even “actual” stim toy
Procrastinating and feeling bad about it is true waste of time. Learn to truly rest. It takes the same amount of time but it is useful
Sometimes you have to force yourself to do the things that make you feel better
Don’t trust the thoughts you have after not sleeping for a while
Friendships don’t have to be forever to mean something
[ SOFT DAISY ]
My current main project is Soft Daisy, a first person RPG in the vein of System Shock and Fallout with an emphasis on non traditional interaction and post-human weirdness. You play as a baby-tapeworm-shrimp CPU thing that becomes sentient and steals a "commercial corpse" to escape/conquer a corporate Dyson sphere, all the while battling privatized security forces, a rampant AI, and struggling corporate factions in a stagnating, abandoned mining outpost.
Working on this with @mpwgamedev (on Twitter). I do writing, assets, and sounds while he does programming (the important stuff, ehe) and a good bit of similar things as well. A very WIP project right now.

i sometimes forget that this is everyone’s first time on earth too. like. this is my first time seeing a butterfly this color. but its that little girl’s first time seeing any butterfly, ever. and i accidentally left a bag of groceries at the store after paying and now i’m cursing under my breath and it’s like. there a thousand other people out there who did that today too. and a thousand more from yesterday. and. like. we’re not actually alone. and we’re not actually failing. at least not in a way that a few billion people haven’t before you
you are not a collection of your worst thoughts. you are the self control you demonstrate every time you turn your back on those thoughts, the beauty of defying nature.

So often we hear about how mental illness/neurodivergency makes people interesting, but here’s a shoutout to the people whose mental illness makes them boring.
Systems who dress at a middle ground of everyone’s style because dressing differently depending on who’s fronting may arouse suspicion. Systems who talk, write, and text the same regardless of who’s fronting for the same reason. System members who can’t do the things they want to do because their system only has the time and resources for so many hobbies.
People with OCD who spend so much time doing compulsions that they don’t have time for the things they want to do. People whose compulsions are mental so no one knows that they’re struggling. People who can’t do certain things because they would trigger them to the point that they couldn’t function.
People with OCPD who are told that they’re too ridged or not spontaneous enough. People whose entire personality, including hobbies and the things they like, are part of their disorder.
Autistic people who dress to avoid sensory bads. People who only eat a few foods. People who can’t go out and socialize.
Really just anyone with so much going on inside their head that they don’t have time for anything else. People who aren’t even capable of being on tumblr or any social media.
Neurodivergency isn’t always something that fits an aesthetic or makes people interesting. Some of us are just focused on surviving. Our symptoms aren’t something to be consumed by others. They’re personal. In the age of the internet it can seem like everyone is always performing, but I promise it is okay to just look after your mental health.
If anyone wants to add on with more mental illnesses/neurodivergencies please do!
