*Chapter Four*

“It seems we have more in common then we thought” Areum confessed before she took another sip of her drink, if this conversation was going where she assumed than she surely needed a bit more alcohol in her system.

His eyes drifted back up towards the masked women in confusion, a sad smile was now spread on her shiny pink stained lips probably caused by the slushie like beverage she just finished.

“You got dumped this summer too?”

It was more a pity joke due to his own problems, he surely didn’t think she had gotten dumped but the dry laugh she let out told him otherwise.

“I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours” he quirked an eyebrow her way.

“Are we really about to share our sob stories with a complete stranger?” She laughed at that, ‘they were strangers weren’t they?’ She thought.

“Who better to share your problems with than a stranger?” He still looked hesitant, not really sure if she was just being nice or really was willing to hear about his breakup.

“Fine i’ll go first” Areum sat up a bit more straighter and turned her chair so she was facing towards him.

“Long story short, My ex claimed he finally realized he wasn’t ready for a long-term committed relationship after dating for five years so he dumped me a week after summer started”

Jungkook’s eyes were wide, surely his breakup was not as bad as hers.

“Wait, are you serious?” She nodded and he was dumbfounded, five years? God! he couldn’t imagine wasting someone’s time like that.

“It gets worse” She added and he looked up at her in confusion, what could be worse then that?

“Later on I found out that wasn’t the real reason why he broke up with me” Was she really going to tell him this? She hadn’t even told Ji but it was like her body was yearning for her to tell someone. Just like she said, who better to tell than a complete stranger she will most likely never see again.

“Instead of staying with me for the summer like we initially planned. He decided to go on vacation with his roommate and the real reason for the breakup was because he was planning to sleep with other girls, apparently our sex life wasn’t cutting it for him”

“The only reason I know this is because a friend of mine who also happens to be friends with him told me.” She shamefully and embarrassedly admitted.

When Namjoon had came to her a couple of days later and told her what he had learned, she wasn’t all that surprised. Taehyung was more comfortable when expressing his needs, where as Areum is more shy and private.

They’ve had plenty of sex but of course both of them having roommates, privacy was a rarity so recently they hadn’t been as intimate as they both would have liked.

She thinks back to the times they would spend the night at each others places and he would try to have sex with her while their roommates were asleep just a few feet away but she would always say no, worried they might wake up.

Or the times they would attend parties together, groping each other and making out in random rooms or bathrooms was the farthest she would go in a social setting because he would never assure her they wouldn’t get caught.

It seemed he got off on the idea of someone catching them but he never spoke to her about how she felt. She would have been opened to new ideas in the bedroom or perhaps thinks he wanted to try but he again he never spoke to her about these things.

Always just assumed she would open her legs whenever and wherever and when she said no he would be in a bad mood the rest of the night.

“Sounds like a complete asshole” Was the only thing Jungkook could mumble out at the moment.

He was pissed hearing the hurt in her voice as she explained, anyone who would dump their girlfriend over such a thing as he did to her was an absolute idiot and she surely deserved better.

“He wasn’t always like that, before dating we were actually childhood best friends who turned into a couple but college changed him” Jungkook sympathized with her, his ex was also his childhood best friend.

“Guess it’s my turn” He blew out a breathe and now turned his body towards her so they were facing each other, their legs between each other now but neither really noticing.

“We actually only started dating the beginning of our senior year but before we were also childhood friends. Things were good it felt nice being with someone who already knew so much about me but unfortunately before we started officially dating I will admit I was a bit of a player”

“You? A player?” Areum asked surprisingly. He laughed while feeling flustered and embarrassed telling her this.

“Yes I was a bit of a man whore as people like to call them. I slept around with different girls, not wanting an actual relationship but I had my reasons why I slept around and also the girls always knew my intentions so no one was ever hurt” He defended himself.

“Senior year she confessed and we started dating, a few months into the relationship things started changing. She wanted to know where I was, what I was doing, who was I with all the time. Even though sometimes it was annoying I never blamed her because her last relationship she was cheated on and obviously my past did nothing to ease her.”

“So you broke up because of trust issues?” He shook his head.

“Since she was my best friend she obviously knew my secrets which meant she knew about this girl I used to have a huge crush on, you could say I was stupidly in love” He made a cringe face and Areum knew this was about to be good.

“Mia, which is my ex’s name, wanted me to apply to colleges she applied at and I did to make her happy but I also applied for ones that I wanted to go to. I got accepted into this one, which was my first choice and I got accepted into the college she planned on going to. I assume you know which one I picked”

“But what does that have to do with the girl you had a crush on?”

“She goes here and Mia knew that, She got mad and claimed the only reason I wanted to go to school here was to follow after someone who doesn’t want me. We got into a huge fight during the summer, she said she couldn’t do this anymore so she called it off”

“Did you?”

“Did I what?”

“Come to school here because of that girl?” A ghost of a smile appeared on his lips and for a moment Areum thought he was going to say yes, but instead he denied.

“No, I came here strictly for study purposes, plus that girl is definitely off limits.”

“Does she have a boyfriend or something?” He nodded before adding.

“Yes and you could say me and her boyfriend are pretty close so she is strictly off limits” He deadpanned more to himself than Areum.

“To breakups” Areum held up her empty up trying to ease the now sad tension in this room, Jungkook downed the rest of his which was barely anything left before he held his up and repeated her words.

The two decided to change the subject and go back to having fun, which is what both deserved. They talked and talked for what felt like hours learning more in depth about one another, they both felt comfortable with each other especially after that small therapy session.

Neither had any plans to leave the small bubble they created in the kitchen either, No one had had even come in and bothered them the entire time they’ve been in here.

Feeling hungry, Jungkook found some chocolate chips cookies in one of the pantry’s so they both could snack but made sure to inform her they had to finish them quickly because he didn’t know whose they were.

About four cookies in, he checked his phone to check the time but was surprised by even more notifications on his phone.

He shook his head at the screen reading over every single message sent by his drunk ex, they ranged from “I miss you”, “I’m sorry”, “I bet you already forgot about me” and “Fuck you! Never call me again!”

He wasn’t sure why but he slid his phone slightly towards the girl sitting next to him, he gestured for her to look at his screen and she did. Now she felt less bad about Taehyung not texting or calling her.

She’d rather him not ever contact her again if he was going to send her text like this guys ex, Areum turned off his phone as more text started to come in and from the glimpse she read she decided he didn’t need to see anymore of that.

“Thanks but I don’t think turning off my phone is gonna solve anything. I wish I could just go back in time and never accepted her feelings then maybe I would still have my best friend”

A pang was felt in her heart at his words, she felt the exact same way. If she knew this is how her relationship was going to end up she would’ve just stayed friends with him. Now she also lost someone close to her and things will sadly never be the same again.

They stared at each other with sad eyes, maybe that’s why they got along so well. Both were going through the same thing and they understood each other better than anyone else at the moment.

Maybe that’s why they had inched closer and closer together.

Maybe that’s why Areum couldn’t help but to spare a glance at his lips, even though there was a slight frown present she wanted nothing more than to kiss it away.

Maybe that’s why his breathe hitched when she licked her lips and he had a sudden urge to taste them.

“Maybe we just need to distract ourselves?” It was like a magnet pulling them closer to one another as Areum spoke, neither denied the pull and continued to blindly step closer.

By this point they were chest to chest, both eyes intensely but cautiously making eye contact. He was a bit taller so he leaned down slightly and that’s when he rested his forehead against hers as his lips ghosted just above hers.

They both remembered at that moment they were wearing mask but neither made a move to remove them, almost as if the mystery heightened everything.

Their noses slightly rubbed against each other as they both started breathing a bit heavier, neither were sure who leaned in first but their lips finally clashed and Areum felt relief, as if she could breathe after holding her breath for so long and Jungkook felt as if the wind was knocked out of him.

His hands instinctively went to hold her waist and tried to pull her closer even though they had no more space between them.

Areum chuckled against his lips which Jungkook found absolutely adorable as she placed one of her hands on the nape of his neck before she tip toed just a bit to deepen the kiss. She tugged on his lower lip before pulling it and sucking which caused Jungkook to lean forward and chase her lips before she could pull away.

A low grumble erupted from his chest as he bent down to quickly pick her up and set her down on the dining table a few feet away. This position, he was standing in between her legs. Their tongues were tangling as they moved them in sync and that’s when she felt it.

She pulled back and looked down, she couldn’t see it due to his long shirt but she sure as hell could feel it and she couldn’t deny it made her flustered at the idea she could actually make another guy hard just by kissing.

“Sorry” his voice was low but he tried to hide the fact he was embarrassed. Never had he gotten this hard over just making out, sure maybe half a hard on, but a full boner?

He pulled away and tried to back up a bit thinking the reason she pulled back was because she was uncomfortable due to his downstairs situation but was surprised when she pulled him back by his shirt and planted her lips back on his.

Her lips moved down from to his jawline then down his neck and this definitely wasn’t helping calm him down. His head leaned back as her lips and tongue grazed the right side of his neck back up to his lips before pulling away once again.

Her lips were swollen and red and he’s sure if he was able to see her cheeks they would be a deep shade of red just like his probably were.

“I’ve never done anything with another guy before” she thought he should know plus she was extremely nervous, his eyes soften as he placed a hand on her cheek above the mask and softy caressed it with his thumb.

“We don’t have to do anything if you’re not comfortable” he assured her as he placed a quick peck on her lips and her heart swelled.

Areum’s mind went in a bunch of different directions, one telling her not to because this guy was a complete stranger but another telling her maybe this is what she needed to do to get over Taehyung, Matter of fact this wasn’t even about Taehyung anymore, this guy had been sweet and had respected her throughout this entire night and even though she couldn’t see his face she was definitely attracted to his personality so why the hell not have some fun?

“That’s the thing” she whispered, her hand trailed from his back over to the front of his chest and down, dangerously close to his crotch area causing him to slightly buck his hips from the teasing sensation of her hand so close.

“I want to” Areum stated before crashing her lips back on his.

Summer mornings made Belle remember the year of her marriage. It made her happy before, recalling the memories of the handsome Prince Jungkook taking her hand in marriage. She was only a young, blushing princess who'd walk around in pink veils and look at the world with glittering eyes. They had so much time together. Jungkook would take her riding into the forest, they'd walk the gardens together or talk in front of the fire.

When Jungkook became King, those things became a luxury than a regular activity. Belle couldn't remember the last time she and Jungkook spent a day together without any interference. It wasn't possible but god was it needed.

Jungkook looked more tired and fell right to sleep every night. The more he listened to issues of the kingdom, the less he smiled for everyone's convenience.

The downward trail of the King, they said. Jungkook would eventually lose all sense of his true self to become embodiment of a feelingless monarch.

Feeling the heat against her skin, Belle decided to take matters into her own hands. Her duties would not begin until later in the afternoon and the hearing of the King must've ended once the sky was bright. Picking the skirt of her green dress, she made her way to the private room in the main castle where Jungkook would relax before moving onto other duties.

Perhaps they could go riding and postpone some duties. Or they could just stay in the private room like they used to on breaks. Her heart pounded in excitement, feeling like a young princess for a few seconds as she ran across the hallways to Jungkooks' private room.

"My love!" Belle called out gently as she opened the door. Her grin quickly dropped, stomach lurched and heart sunk into an endless pit.

All the naivety dissipated as she saw a creme dress and blonde hair, sitting on Jungkooks' lap, plump lips latching off his jawline when she heard Belle come in. Jungkook moved his hands off the girls' waist, hair messy over his eyes.

The girl flushed red and jumped off his lap, bowing pathetically and rushing out of the private room.

She let out a small shaky sigh, hand over her stomach; nauseated from the sight. "Why did you—"

Jungkook stood up and carefully walked towards her, his black shirt mostly opened to reveal his chest. "Belle..."

Belle shook her head, slamming the door shut. "You could've talked to me!" Eyes flooded with tears and her heart felt like it was being forced out of her chest. "I was sitting here for months thinking you were actually suffering and—" She leaned forward on the large wooden table as Jungkook inched closer.

"It was nothing serious—" Jungkook whispered in that same loving way. How tainted and dirty it sounded after what she just saw. He leaned his nose against her temple. "—my love—"

"Don't!" Belle pushed him away roughy. Her crown sliding off the side of her head, tears staining her cheeks and her breathing grew ragged. "Don't call me that and touch me when you still smell like her!" Her voice cracked.

Jungkook tightened his jaw, persisting to step closer. "I'm your husband."

"Mighty good one at that." Belle stepped back. "You drink, you never talk to me, you have your own chambers now, it's for fucking her, isn't it?" She gestured roughly to the door.

Jungkook almost towered over her. "No—"

"Don't lie to me! I've tried being a good wife and queen for you and your kingdom and you—" Belle pushed him further away again. "—go behind my back like common dog!"

Jungkook grabbed onto her hands this time, turning her around until his arm was locked around her body.

"Let me go!" Belle cried out.

"Shh..." Jungkook nudged his lips against her earlobe, another arm held over her chest to leave no distance between them. "Don't weep, please."

Belle only sobbed more, still trying to break away until her crown clanged on the table. Her curls hovered half her face. "Why—"

"I don't—I don't know why," Jungkook whispered. "Please, just don't cry." He buried her face against the crook of her neck.

Her breathing calmed for a moment as she softened into his hold. Jungkook took that second to kiss her neck.

Whether she was like this out of sheer exhaustion or actual peace was a debate to be had later. All Belle knew right now was no one was going to comfort her for something like this other than him. Her new Queenly duty.
