Son Donates Part of Liver to Mom Before Mother’s Day

A Utah mother, Gwen Finlayson, received the ultimate Mother’s Day gift. The 63-year-old mother of four was diagnosed in 1991 with autoimmune hepatitis, which is caused by the body’s immune system turning against the liver cells. Doctors warned that she would need a liver transplant in a few years, but she was able to stretch that to more than two decades. Finally, the Utah mother has been cured thanks to a part of her son’s liver and an innovative new treatment that used 3-D technology, according to reports.

Last year, she allowed doctors to put her on the transplant list. But before she found a donor, her son offered to help.

Gwen Finlayson’s son Brandon (37-year-old) donated a part of his liver to save her life. The surgery in February was the first time Utah doctors transplanted the left lobe of a living donor’s liver. They used scans of Brandon’s liver to make a 3-D printed model at Intermountain Healthcare in Salt Lake City so they could plan and practice the delicate procedure.

Doctors said that Gwen and Brandon’s livers can regenerate and should grow to about 90 percent of normal size within months. Both are recovering well after the surgery.

@thotantics and @sweet-teeth-mfs are both absolutely fantastic multifandom blogs with incredibly sweet and hilarious writers behind them. Idk where I would be without Jes and Edie tbh, their work really inspires a lot of what you read here.

@multibiasdreams OKAY SO out of all the kinky fic out there, NONE has been as good or realistic as Revelations. Misun is one of the sweetest human beings on the PLANET and *whispers* she actually fuckin knows what she’s talking about! I’ve left several anonymous asks and she’s been so kind in each and every one. She writes exo but I believe there’s been talk of adding Monsta X?

@exosthetik and @pynkcashmere both specialize in shorter exo smuts, but GOD if they aren’t hot. they’re so so so good. i reblog them so often honestly i’m a huge fan. @peachyletters is also extremely wonderful and this blog writes for multiple boy groups.

@yeoltidecarol is responsible for two of my favorite chanyeol smuts, one of which is my favorite idol x reader smut of all time. just…. go check this wonderful blog out. you’re really gonna find a+ quality content.

@kyungwhore‘s personality may not be safe for work, but her works certainly are! Mima has this wonderful way of writing that just feels so genuine and reminds me what being in love feels like. She also has the ability to rip your whole heart out of your chest with angst so there’s that too. She writes exo fic btw.

@real-pcy-exo and @softyexo both do little fluffy blurbs and they’re SO CUTE i absolutely adore fluff blurbs and they do some of the best.

@youxidol has a lot of smut, but there’s quite a bit of fluff too. I think what really makes this blog stand out are the AUs, they’re just really special and adorable (the pocket au!!!!) This is a multifandom blog btw

@noona-clock is one of my all-time favorite kpop blogs, the admin there is just super kind and works so incredibly hard. I actually started following for the exo content, but I’ve actually gotten into some of the massive variety of groups that are written. There are so many fun reads and you can get sucked in for hours just trying to consume everything.

@daisybaeks is one of the sweetest souls, and I knew her before I actually started this blog. She used to be solely exo, but just recently branched out to other groups. She’s known for her fluff, but I personally like her angst? Idk that’s the good stuff to me. But also… she’s been hurting a lot lately so if you guys can show her some love that would be good… take care of yourself, Yan, okay?

I recently started following @exomessages and OOOH I’m absolutely in love. I don’t normally like the text edits as much, but these are just so funny and adorable.
