Chapter 1

A storm had rolled into New York. So far a casual thunderstorm and nothing major.

“Cancel those picnics New Yorkers unless you like soggy sandwiches. We'd also suggest seeking out potential storm shelters if you haven't made plans yet.” The newscaster on Channel 6 news suggested. Donnie scoffed at the tv.

“Storm shelters my shell. We haven't had a tornado in NYC since 1995 and haven't been hit by a hurricane since 1893 unless you count 2021.” The tv went dark the subtle illumination it gave off disappearing. The 3 turtle brothers and their human friends turned to the purple-clad brother, who shrugged in response.

“I've been wrong before.” he started as the generator kicked in bringing the news station back to life.

“Folks were gonna suggest you take shelter as we could be experiencing extreme storms passing over that could potentially lead to severe weather.” the tv switched to live footage of the Atlantic Ocean where the water was raging and crashing along the coast lightning striking anything and everything in its path. An alert went off in the lair signaling that something was happening at the underwater entrance. The team groaned as Donnie rose from his spot on the couch to investigate the cause of the alarm.

When he arrived he turned off the alarm and turned his attention to the cameras. All seemed to be well, but he took a closer look. Only to catch a glimpse of a humanoid figure in the camera that sat above water.

Whoever it was was thrown from the sky into the water lightning following them striking the surface as they submerged. Another figure appeared out of the dark clouds.

“I'm guys you might want to take a look at this,” Donnie suggested to the living room inhabitants who emerged a few seconds later to watch the screen with him.

The figure that fell into the ocean emerged once more surrounded by lightning. The two figures clashed and shockwave went out in all directions the two figures engaged as a much more severe storm began to roll onto the shores of New York. When suddenly the figure surrounded by lightning began to dim. The other figure pulled something out of them and let them crash into the ocean. The figure in the air began to rise once more. Taking off in a burst of speed into the clouds. The storm began to slow and calm down.

“Should we go see what that was,” Mikey questioned they All looked at Leo.

“You're the leader,” Ralph said crossing his arms Leo looked back at the screen.

“Well, I'm going I have to see what this, is,” Donnie said rising from his desk and walking to grab some gear before he made his way over to the turtle sub.

“I'm coming too.” Mikey began to follow in step with his brother. Leo sighed and he to followed suit along with Raph Casey and April. The six of them crammed into the sub and made their way to investigate.

Upon arrival, the turtles saw the humanoid figure sinking deeper and deeper into the ocean in a heap of white fabric a light trail of gold following along.

“Well, we can't just sit here and watch them drown,” April said.

“I'll get them.” raph took the initiative and swam out of the sub over to the figure. Upon closer inc]section he realized it was a girl. Her hair floated around her face tickling his skin as he wrapped his arms around her. He swam back to the sub lifting her inside.

My main medium for my creativity has always been drawing so this is a HUGE deal for me!!! Especially since any of possible skill for creative writing I had apparently died back in high school. Summery: You show off your new lipstick to your favorite dork, Leo. After a series of events, you and Leo come up with a plot for a perfect prank. You’ll ambush every one of his siblings and smother them in kisses with your new lipstick all the while Leo films the whole thing. Let the Shenanigans Commence!

Author’s Note: I originally came up with this as a Leo x Reader. But the way the story progressed, it can be read as any rottmnt x reader as well as either romantic, platonic, or familial. The same can be said for the gender. I was putting on my own lipstick when I thought up this scenario and I thought ANYONE CAN WEAR LIPSTICK!!! So gender neutral it is! Writing in the 2nd person made it easy too.

Part 1: -The Beginning- Neon Leon

You are excited about your new lipstick.

Berry pink.

Not too light. A deep shade without it being too dark.

Putting on the final touches, you admire yourself in your bathroom mirror. It made you feel strong, confident, Dazzling!

“Whadda ya think?”

You strike a pose in your bedroom doorframe, framing your face with your hands. You have returned from your shopping trip and eager to show off your spontaneous purchase. Your favorite mutant turtle ninja lounges on your bed with his snout deep in the newest issue of Jupiter Jim: New Universe H2G2. Not only is he claiming your space as his own… he’s out right ignoring you.

Leonardo Hamato. Your other half, partner in crime, bestie, your first mate. Although Leo would beg a differ on that last part, claiming that since he’s the only one with pirate experience that you would be HIS first mate.

Eeeehhh… Tomato Tomahto.

The point being that you and your Neon Leon give April and Donnie the run for their money for the ‘Besties Awards’.

You deadpan at him. At this point in time, you’re thinking about accepting new applications for the Bestie role.

Meanwhile, that said comic (that is apparently Soooo much more interesting than you) was the purpose of your errand. A favor for him for it was sold out online and the one comic shop that still had it in stock was for pick up only. Donnie had gotten caught up in his newest project, something about a portal device to alternate realities, alternate selves, (other Mad Sciencey stuff) and Apparently forgot to preorder the damn thing. That particular shop just happens to be down the block from your apartment as well as you are the ‘bestest-most-awesome-supreme-person-ever-and-he-loves-you-sosososo-much’.

So much for being the ‘bestest most awesome supreme-’ so on and so forth.

With a huff, you pick up a hoodie you left on the floor, balled it up, and chucked right into Leo’s head. With a ‘THWUMPH’ and ‘hurmf ’, you pounce on him, snatching his comic from his grasp (carefully for you just bought the damn thing), setting it to the side during which you grab your pillow and whack his still covered head.

“I was joking!” He cries out as you laugh maniacally. “I heard you I heard you!”

Fully satisfied with his punishment, you stand up and plop to the side all the while you let him get his bearings. Leo finally frees himself from your shirt and throws it back on to the floor simultaneously sticking his tongue out at you.

Such a drama queen.

You roll your eyes and return the gesture whilst you adjust yourself to sit facing your Leo with him doing the same, finally takes in your lips.

“I like it.” He nods approvingly, “Muy Bien!”

You grin so big your checks begin to ache. But then you notice your turtle going quiet, grabbing his chin as he goes deep in thought.

“You’ll hurt yourself if you keeps that up.”

You know to well how clever he is but that doesn’t mean you won’t give him a ration of shit. It’s in your job description.

It’s Leo’s turn to roll his eyes.

“I was just thinking on about how it would look on me.”

You lean back on your hands and squint at his face for a moment. You then pull out your lipstick form your pocket to hold the color bottom sticker up to him.

“Hmmm I don’t know… I think something more of a red shade would be better for you. You know, to match your moons.”

You love those moons.

“Are you kidding?!” The Bratticus Maximus snatches it out of your hand, “I can totally pull this off!”

You gasp and quickly reach for it back, but Leonardo (being a stupid fucking turtle ninja) easily keeps it out of your reach. Keeping you at bay by smooshing his hand against you cheek.

Where’s the respect?

Then a wicked idea creeps into your mind. You drop your arms and let them hang for a moment causing Leo to pause. You switch your effort. Grabbing his wrist, subsequently tearing it off your face. You then yank him towards you, pulling his face close to yours.

“Well then let’s try it out shall we?”

You lean in, planting a firm kiss to his cheek with an exaggerated ‘MWAH’ .

You take in his face for a moment as he gapes at you.

“Hmm I can’t tell, I need a larger sample size.”

A mischievous grin spreads across your face and in turn Leo balks. He’s on to you. You both are on the same wave length. Even though it isn’t possible, everyone swears you two can Mind Meld together. He goes to shove you with his free hand but you catch that wrist as well, leaving him open.

You attack.

Smooching all over his face, leaving kiss marks in your wake. He cries out as you leave no spot uncovered.

You fall back and admire you work while your dear slider sits there stunned

“I guess I was wrong,” you release him, “That color does look good on you.”

Leo bolts up and dashes to your bathroom to assess the extent of the damage during which you almost fall to the floor cackling.

You await his return, biting your lip, trying to stifle your giggles. However, you fail when he appears back in your doorway.

There Leo’s tries to put on his best sulk (adorable really), crossing his arms as you devolve to wheezing. But who’s he kidding. You got him good. Plus watching you turn blue in the face and on the verge of passing out is pretty hilarious in on it self.

He returns to your bathroom and you're able to gather yourself enough to follow. He give you his signature smirk once he sees you in the mirror where upon poses with his finger and thumb in the L position to under his chin.

“I told you a could pull it off .” His smugness oozing off of him as he looks over himself again. You swear you saw sparkles.

You’re finally able to get yourself under control and you meet his gaze in the mirror as you come up from behind him.

“Yeah ya did stud muffin.” You shoot him a wink. “That’s a good look on you.”

A furious blush blooms across your favorite blue boy’s face to which he responds by bumping his hips against yours as you pull up next to him. In turn, you bump back, pushing him over to make room for you in the mirror.

Chuckles are shared and you lean towards the mirror to reapply your lipstick.

There’s a moment of comfortable silence as you focus on the task at hand while Leo watches you. You and him share glances between each other through the mirror when a plot begins to form. Your shared glances become knowing ones. Insouciantly, you turn to face each other, Leo crossing his arms as you lean against the counter.

Your wicked grin returns to which the leader in blue bares one to match.

Once again, evidence that supports the conspiracy that both you can Mind Meld.

“Sooo…?”

“Sooooo…?

“We should show my brothers how good I look.”

“They’ll be sooooo jelly. We should totally include them so they don’t feel left out.”

Nonchalance is evident in your voices as you converse.

Leo reaches into his pouch to pull out his phone, his brows bounce up and down as he holds it up between you two. Your brows return the gesture in agreement. So, with your lipstick and his phone in hand, you both set off. At your front door, the true blue slider casually opens it and stands off to the side, bowing while holding his hand out. You play along, responding in a curtsy before placing your hand into his. The two of you are barely able to contain excitements check as you both leave your apartment.

You and Leo soon arrive at the lair, ready to set you plan into motion.

Something that I have kind of noticed is that Donnie seems to be afraid of making mistakes

Donnie: Oh no, oh no! Ahh! Oh okay, phew good news guys my engineerings fine, oh and something’s taken control of the Turtle Tank

In the episode the Mutant Menace, Donnie was more concerned about the idea of having made a mistake with the engineering of the Turtle Tank than he was with the prospect of Baxter taking control of the Tank, possibly showing that making a mistake is a worse outcome in Donnie’s opinion.

Donnie’s fear of making a mistake might be the reason why Donnie also seems to have a hard time admitting when he’s messed up or made a mistake & he  doesn’t seem to like when someone brings up his past mistakes

Donnie: That’s right Albearto today’s the day you were born! Through a total accident that’s clearly nobodies fault 

April: You want the reasons in chronological order? Or epic-ness of fail order?

Donnie:  Hmm that must have been the work of another teenage mutant ninja Donnie.

When Donnie does make a mistake he typically does everything that he can to make it right however other than attempting to fix the mistake Donnie doesn’t seem to want himself or others to acknowledge the mistake which might possibly stem from Donnie having a fear over making mistakes in the first place.

Donnie: I’m the science guy, if mystic powers can do everything I can do but better then why would you guys even need me?

Donnie’s fear of mistakes might also partially stem from Donnie’s need to be useful to the people that he cares about & it might be possible that he might feel as though he can’t be ‘useful’ if he makes mistakes.

Donnie might possibly seem reluctant to admit to mistakes, not because he simply does not like admitting fault but because the idea of making a mistake in the first place is something that he might kind of be afraid of.

My SUPER long Bayverse Turtle Headcanons

PART ONE - Their 'Anatomy' Edition

(Bruh, I've been thinking so hard about this shit. Completely based off real turtle anatomy and problems!)

Nocturnal eyesight. Mostly. It's not perfect but still pretty good. They're eyes glow in the dark (2014). It's a sign of reflecting light in the eyeball. Cats have it.

They all have third eyelids. They look like a milky white film. They can't really control it, and they only appear when they are sick, underwater, under bright sudden light, during combat, or sometimes when they are unconscious. They can see just fine through them.

Churrs are rare. Even rarer the older they get. Sounds like a super deep, rabid fire, 'thuckthuckthuckthuckthuck-' in their chest. It's a vulnerable sound and it's super inhuman- they hate it about themselves. Continuous churrs usually only happen when they are asleep (they can't help it). But you might hear it on an exhale as he cuddles you, or when he whips his head around in anger, or when he yanks you into a hard hug after a scare, or yelp one out when he gets a bad kick to the face-

They shed. They're scutes and skin get EXTREMELY dry and tight before the layers start peeling off. Large areas of their exposed body are humanoid epidermis, but it still sheds off. They prefer to stay in the water during shedding weeks. The faster they get this itchy shit off, the better-

Shells have sensation, but it's weird, and your turtle will NOT be able to explain it in a way that makes sense. Yes, they feel your hand. No, they are not in crippling pain when shot with a bullet. The sensitivity is just...weird.

They 'hibernate'. But not in a way you think. Outsiders see it as an extreme case of 'winter blues'. Their routines, personalities, and/or rationality don't change a bit. But they are way more hungry, tired, irritable, and lazy than usual. You will see each turtle passed out holding a mug of hot coco at least once during winter.

Next up, they do have mating season. But its way WAY less sexy than you'd think. Just getting out of 'Winter Blues', Spring Fever is a two week window when they are extra hormonal, super hungry, extremely irritable to each other and absolutely chalk FULL of energy. Frequent sexy times are a good way to release all this pent up stress😏

They have stripes. Not really a headcanon. Donnie literally has stripes on his neck and Mikey has the most beautiful zebra shell ever. Leo and Mikey have pretty color patterns on their plasteron. Raph kinda does too. I'm sure all four have them in places, they're just super faint.

Shell-rot is something they have to watch out for constantly. So they take daily showers to keep bacteria from staying on their scales and shell too long. Mold can eat away their plasteron, like how sugar causes cavities in your teeth. But it's less about 'holes'; Their shells get squishy, bloody, stink like rotten flesh and it's utter agony. AND if the infection gets in their blood- that's super bad news. Donnie has signs of shell rot scarring under his backpack (top of his shell). Leo has some rot scars on his plasteron. Raph needs to REALLY look out for it because of the cracks in his shell.

Pyramiding is scary as shit. All the turtles except MIKEY show bad signs of it. It's a sign of poor diet and lighting. Too much protein and not enough sunlight can cause their scutes to build up and grow weird, until their shell starts growing INWARD like a bowl instead of outward like a hill.

Turtle eye infections are super easy to get and they HATE IT. Their eyes get irritated and goopy, sometimes going bloodshot and it's hard to open their third eyelid. The eyeballs were mutated a lot, but not so much as to spare them from easy eye infections. They treat these infections with turtle eye drops they get from the pet store. It works.

They produce a LOT of body heat. A lot. A kiss from a ninja turtle is just as warm as a human. They mutated into endothermic humanoid organisms, capable of maintaining a constant body temperature on their own. They are also big guys with big bodies 😂 (Sweating in the plane in Oots, hardly no blankets in cold sewer, no shivering while running around in the snow in the first movie, or the outside ceremony at the end of oots, ect, ect.) While cuddling, your turtles cooler plastron will be your only savior when trying not to die of heat. No, you really won't need blankets. Trust me.

Their shells are super light. Listen, the shells look and sound like they add maybe two hundred pounds to each turtle. But they walk around and do ninja stuff without dying immediately from horrific internal injuries.

Their shell is supported by their ribcages. Like an internal hug around the chest. Their spine and ribs look a lot more like our own. They have a moving diaphragm. Mutated cartilage systems create support and space between their spine and carapace, creating a 'bullet proof' system to absorb impact, and space for things like 'shoulder bones' and 'diaphrams' to move. AND flexibility to tuck into their shells.

Cracking the shell could still be lethal. Much like cracking the shell of an actual turtle. But that is much more difficult to do with these guys. Raph was walking around with zip ties glued to his shell for a while (after the first movie) and he had to tell April what they were for.

Donnie cuddle headcanons

There are SO MANY headcanons where Donnie despises touch. Even with Y/N. And I don't like it. Rewatch the show, Donnie likes touch, just not when he's overwhelmed or not prepared at all. Even then, if his brothers hug him without warning, he doesn't mind. I'm the same way, and just because Donnie's autistic doesn't mean he falls in the same categories. Autism is like anxiety, it's different for everyone. DONNIE LIKES TOUCH PEOPLE.

So, I'm making my own because you all suck/j

• Donnie likes touch as long as he's not overstimulated

• Or upset. Then it's a definite no.

• Donnie really likes shell rubs, despite common opinion

• It's very relaxing to him, especially after a mission.

• If you massage his shell, oh boy, be prepared to stay there for a few hours X3

• His shoulders half a few scars from his battle shell chaffing the skin,

• And the skin there is usually dry, so scritches there are appreciated.

• Speaking of scritches, a soft spot for him is the top of his thigh, around the markings

• First time you scratch there he screeches like a cat

• Once his brain registers what's happening though, it's all churrs and happy rumbles

• Fair warning, don't do this in his lab.

• Chin scritches are okay, avoid his snout

• run your nails over his head, he'll melt.

• In the colder months, he WILL steal all your body heat

• No use in fighting this tired turt

• Headaches usually rest in his temples and the base of his skull (tension headache)

• If he seems irritated or grumpy and is holding his head a lot

• it's probably why

• Rub these areas to relax and calm the terrapin

• So he doesn't bite you💀

• Other areas to rub/massage:

• Neck, Shoulders, Jaw, Hands

• He's got shrimp posture like an artist, the boy needs help

• Often gets hand cramps, so I don't really gotta explain that one.

• Jaw just goes with the headache hc

• Likes being the little spoon but prefers big spoon

Something that I’ve been wondering about is whether or not the Krang know what Yokai are

When the Krang capture Raph something that was kind of interesting was the Krang wondering what Raph was since they recognised that he wasn’t human but something I was wondering about was why they didn’t assume that Raph was a Yokai instead.

Draxum: My plan is coming to fruition. My bugs are hard at work turning humans into Yokai

It’s been shown in Rise that there isn’t really much difference between mutants & Yokai and the Rise team have said that mutants are basically more or less, enhanced Yokai so if there isn’t much difference between mutants & Yokai, part of me wonders why the Krang didn’t ask Raph if he was a Yokai.

In the episode Bug Busters, Big Mama says that the Yokai have existed for ‘thousands of eons’ & considering that the Krang say that they were sealed for only a thousand years, unless time moves considerably slower in the Prison Dimension, Big Mama was most likely exaggerating or otherwise the Krang should recognise what Yokai are.

Something that might be possible is the idea that the Krang themselves created the Yokai as during the final episode of Rise we found out that Empyrean originally came from the Krang & the Rise team have said that Empyrean is the source of the Yokai’s mystic powers

Draxum: So nice of you to return my vile 

Considering that the vile that Draxum took from Mayhem in the first episode to finish his ooze is said to be Empyrean it’s possible that Empyrean was the original Mutagen in the Rise universe & was what created the Yokai in the first place when the Krang first invaded meaning that the Yokai that we know of in Rise are descendants of the first mutants.

There are a few similarities between Rise & the 2012 cartoon due to a lot of the same people who worked on the 2012 cartoon also working on Rise so it is possible that another similarity between the 2012 cartoon & Rise is that mutants or Yokai are just as much a product of the Krang in Rise as they are in the 2012 Cartoon.

But I don’t think that the Yokai were created by the Krang that got sealed away in the Prison Dimension, I kind of think that the Yokai were created by the Krang that got left behind.

It is possible that not all the Krang were sealed away & that there was at least one Krang left on earth when the Krang were sealed away the first time as in the episode Shreddy or Not it’s revealed that the Dark Armour was originally created by the Krang (which would explain why the Foot Clan is said to worship the Krang in the first place).

Though we don’t know when exactly the Krang made a deal with Oroku Saki we do know that Karai & the Shredder were sealed away for 500 years.

Casey: Master Shredder you have returned to us, after five hundred years the Foot Clan can finally fulfil our mission and do your dark bidding!

Karai: Please I have just endured five hundred years of misery 

Considering that the Krang were said to have been sealed away for 1000 years they should have been sealed away 500 years before Karai & Shredder were meaning that either time moves faster in the prison dimension making the Krang experience being imprisoned for 1000 years when really it was only around 500 or not all the Krang were sealed away.

If at least one Krang had been left behind on earth after the Krang were originally sealed away that would possibly be kind of an interesting parallel to how there is at least one Krang left on Earth after the Hamato Clan seals Krang Prime away at the end of the movie.

If there was at least one Krang left behind on Earth then it is possible that the Krang that got left behind could have possibly created the Yokai & if the Yokai were created after most of the Krang were sealed away then it is possible that the Krang that we see in the movie might not really have any idea what Yokai or mutants are.
