When Eddie Gets Excited, He Gets A Bit Overwhelmed. At Least, That’s What Steve Has Noticed, With The

When Eddie gets excited, he gets a bit overwhelmed. At least, that’s what Steve has noticed, with the way Eddie has to take a quick running lap, bounce up and down, etc. whenever he gets too happy.

Steve secretly thinks it’s adorable and tries his best to induce these little happy zoomies.

It doesn’t take much. Sometimes it’s just a small compliment such as, “That shirt looks nice on you,” that has Eddie bouncing on his heels and fidgeting with his rings with a smile on his face. Sometimes, Steve tries to notice something new like when Eddie trims his bangs or paints his nails, that makes Eddie flush red and mumble, “Yeah, I did,” before taking a quick walk around Family Video before making his way back to him.

This time, Steve isn’t really trying to get a reaction out of Eddie who is angrily storming around the break room of Family Video after Steve had seen his face upon entering the store and ushered him to the back.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” Eddie mutters out, running a hand over his face. Steve sits back quietly, letting Eddie go on a little rant. “He said, we were allowed to have the basement for our campaign. All of it. Then, Ted Wheeler in all his glory suddenly says that we’re too loud, and we can’t do the campaign at their house anymore. I mean… it’s one more session! He could’ve sat in that damn recliner and shut him mouth for one more session! Fuck.”

Eddie groans dramatically and sits on the ground, head in his hands. “I don’t know what to do. It’s summer so we don’t have access to the school. And I can’t risk breaking in and having them take away my well earned diploma. Plus, my trailer is too small, and no one else has the privacy of Mike’s basement. We’re done for!”

Steve shrugs, seeing a clear answer to the problem. “You can do it at my house. My parents are never home, and I can stay in my room for as long as you need.”

Eddie’s head snaps up. “Are you serious?”

“Yeah,” Steve says, not really sure why he’s so shocked.

Eddie stands up quickly. “You’re positive you can deal with all the Hellfire members in your house?”

Steve nods. “I’ll even buy you guys pizza if you want.”

“Buy us pizza…” Eddie mumbles under his breath in disbelief. “Steve Harrington, are you granting me permission to use your house for Hellfire Club meaning hours of us yelling maybe even late into the night while we play our nerdy game?”

Steve nods and shrugs again. “Yeah. It’s not that big of a deal.”

“Not that big of a deal?” Eddie repeats, once again in disbelief. He slightly smiles. “We’re going to be able to complete the campaign.” He bounces on his heels excitedly. “We’re going to complete the campaign!” He runs up to Steve and hugs him tightly, jumping up and down, successfully jostling a laughing Steve in his arms. “We have a place to complete the campaign!!”

Eddie puts him down and pulls back with a big smiles. “Thank you! Seriously thank you. This means so much I could just-”

Before Steve can react, Eddie is leaning forward and pressing his mouth against his in an enthusiastic kiss.

Eddie pulls back quickly and puts his hands over his mouth in horror. “Oh my gosh. I’m so- fuck. I’m so fucking sorry. I just got uh…”

Steve waves him off as Eddie backs as far away from him as possible. “You just got excited. It’s okay.”

It’s okay as it can be considering that Steve really wants to kiss Eddie again although he’s not sure what that really means. But suddenly the urge to make Eddie happy makes a whole lot of sense.

Shit. Okay. He can work with this.

He glances up at Eddie who looks petrified in fear. “I just got excited…” he whispers out.

Steve slowly makes his way to him and puts his hands on his shoulders. “It’s okay, Eddie. Really. I uh, enjoyed it.”

“You enjoyed it?” Eddie echoes uncertainly.

“Yes. But if it was just an excitement thing, I understand.”

Eddie breathes out, “And what if it was more than an excitement thing?”

Steve takes a step further into Eddie’s space and tilts his head. “Then I’d ask if I could kiss you.”

Eddie swallows harshly and leans forward. “It was definitely more than an excitement thing.”

Steve smiles softly and asks, “Can I kiss you?”

“Yes,” Eddie says, slipping his hands into Steve’s hair as he moves forward again.

This time, Steve knows to respond, moving his lips against Eddie’s gently before tracing his tongue against the seam of his lips, exploring the inside of his mouth when Eddie lets him in.

When Steve reluctantly pulls away from the kiss to check on Eddie, he gets a quick nip to the lip.

Eddie flushes red. “So, I sometimes bite when I’m happy.”

Steve leans in again and whispers against his lips, “Thank god I’m into that.”

And he’s going to make sure to learn all the ways to elicit these responses from Eddie, but first, he’s going to learn all the ways Eddie likes to be kissed.

what does horror mean to you guys? Like, is it an artistic expression, maybe a type of comfort, etc etc. Love your podcasts!!! 🫶

I guess I see it much like any genre - as a kind of licence, based on audience expectation and audience trust, to take them to certain places.

For me the only difference with horror, and what really excites me about it, is that it's a particularly flexible licence, with fewer hard requirements, and the driver is given more scope to go to stranger, bleaker, and darker destinations in pursuit of something interesting.

So we can debate whether elevated horror or torture porn or soft Halloween spookadoodles or whatever counts as 'real' horror (or indeed whether The Silt Verses should be called contemporary dark fantasy instead), or like Stephen King in On Writing, we can try and impose some kind of hierarchy of the audience's emotional responses, but horror resists these attempts to clearly classify it: humanity's collective understanding of the genre remains broad and mutable enough to include existential terror, cosy ghost stories, transgressive body horror, bleak and violent nihilism, and goofy Lovecraftian kitsch.

I love some of this stuff as great art and hate some of it as trash (and love some of it as trash as well), but the joy of horror lies in the fact that it's such a big, anarchic, permissive playground.

Horror is the sign on the door that simply promises, 'Bad things are going to happen.'

A flowchart made up of questions contained in rectangular boxes and labeled lines that run vertically and horizontally. The first question is, "Do you enjoy seeing magic that's treated like science?" There are three options. The first is "No, I prefer more loosely structured magic." This leads to the question, "Do you like a combination of mystery and absurd comedy?" The only option for this question is, "Sorry, yes is the only answer available here." This leads to the question, "What level of action would you prefer?" There are three options. The first is "Lots!" This leads to the question, "Interested in a musical?" The only option for this question is, "What," which leads to the final answer Fall of the House of Sunshine. The second option for the action question is "Big City (some)," which leads to the answer Kane and Feels. The last option for the action question is "Sleepy-spooky-friendly small town (very little)," which leads to the answer Death By Dying.
The second option for the first question is "Yes." This leads to the question, "Which framing do you prefer?" There are two options. The first is "Anthology that eventually builds into ongoing plot," which leads to the answer The Mistholme Museum of Mystery, Morbidity, and Mortality. The other option for the framing question is "Slice of life that eventually reveals underlying plot," which leads to the answer Jar of Rebuke.
The third option for the first question is "No, I prefer science. This leads to the question, "Do you enjoy sci-fi that's sort of hand-wavey and treats science like magic?" There are two options. The first is "Nah," which leads to the question, "Unethical human experimentation or tampering with parallel histories?" There are two options. The first option is "Human experimentation," which leads to the question, "What kind of tone would you prefer?" There are two options. The first option is "Serious mockumentary,'" which leads to the answer Limetown. The other option is "Irreverent impromptu investigation," which leads to the answer Red Valley. The second option for the previous question is "Parallel histories," which leads to the answer Out Of Place.
The second answer for the sci-fi question is "Yeah," which leads to the question, "Interested in a post-apocalyptic radio show?" The only option for this question is "Sure," which leads to the answer The Bunker. End ID

made a flowchart for some of the most underrated podcasts in my favorites list (you want to listen to all of these you want to listen to all of them sooo bad)

horror is the best genre simply because u can just be a guy making ur first horror movie on two cents and a christmas wish and literal horror legends and masters will do little cameos in ur movie for u and do it happily. there are so many small horror films out there where like kane hodder plays a random clerk, stephen king plays some guy in a store, robert englund plays Old Man. john carpenter and sam raimi and tony todd will show up to drop one line. it's weirdly heartwarming: just by merit of trying to make something new and weird and cool and scary, ur connected to all of these legendary actors and artists who are happy to support and elevate u and ur work so all the world can see it

Guys—

Eddie’s not weak, nor is he a twig.

Exhibit 1: he was able to YANK both Dustin and Mike out of their seats as if they were fucking hand bags.

Exhibit 2: he’s able to climb up a rope with NO support which uses SO MUCH core strength like bro I could never—

Exhibit 3: he’s in a band, he’s gonna do some heavy lifting and shit

Exhibit 4: when he tried to provoke Jason in that cafeteria scene, Jason fully just backs down

Exhibit 5: MANZ LITERALLY THREW STEVE AGAINST THE WALL

So allow me to present: Steve Harrington who knows full well that Eddie is able to completely and utterly manhandle him and absolutely living and thriving for it.

Thank you for your attention.

Being into podcasts and having s*** voice recognition means

- not being able to differentiate between Jon and Elias who are played by two different people

- Not being able to differentiate between Sasha and not Sasha who are played by two different people

- Not being able to differentiate between Alice and Norris who are played by two different people

- And being able to distinguish Arther, John, Kellen, Eddie, Dr Jeffrey, Kayne, The trader, Faust, Wallace, The Butcher, Oscar, and MARIE??? from eachother DESPITE ALL OF THEM BEING PLAYED BY THE SAME PERSON

I have three modes of reading

Dont read

Read a 500 page book in a day

Read only fanfiction until my eyeballs drop out of my skull from exhaustion

My favorite gag in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K, which is less of a gag and more of just part of the series, is that Kusou just never speaks aloud. No one ever comments that this bitch is scowling and never talking 24/7 even as they’re having conversations with him. He just beams his words right into their heads and whenever I think about it too long I start cracking up. That whore opens his mouth for coffee jelly and nothing else.

Dionysus and Apollo

My biggest Rick Riordan pet peeve (I love his books but I have many many gripes with some things…)

Uh Apollo isn’t the god of fucking rock n roll stars and ‘bad’ poetry. That’s Dionysus. Apollo is the god of ballet, of studied poetry, the kind that has rules and form while Dionysus is poetry that says ‘fuck you’ to all that and scribbles on a page. Apollo is the god of ballet, a type of dance so grueling and studied that there are schools recognized for their disipline all over the world… Dionysus is the god of breakdance and dubstep not becaus they are any less hard but because it was born on the streets and taught there still. Apollo is the god that showed Michael Angelo wisdom while Dionysus drove Van Gogh to paint a night with stars no one had ever seen before and who drove Pollock mad with drink and who showed Dali that dreams could be painted. Apollo might have inspired Mozart to learn piano and read musi but it was Dionysus who drove him mad with creation.

Apollo and Dionysus are two sides of a coin, of art and genius, of academia and emperial learning.  Apollo is the god of rational thinking and order, appealing to prudence and purity. On the other hand, Dionysus is the god of irrationality and chaos, appealing to emotions and instincts. The Greeks did not consider the two gods to be opposites or rivals, although often the two deities were entwined by nature. In fact, Dionysus’ temples were always built next to Apollo’s as you cannot have one without the other.

Also, it is Dionysus who is the literal god of theatre, not Apollo.
