I need a Too Sweet edit for Dean Winchester, but instead of a ship edit, it's just between pre hell and post hell Dean.
Yeah so maybe listening to Malevolent 43, the redone Troy/Cyclops Sagas, and topping it all with the Thunder Saga wasn't the *best* idea.
If I consume another piece of media about a mentally ill, hopeless man, so distraught that he betrays all his people and morals-
The Malev duo may be doing better than Ody and the crew but that is *not* saying a lot.
Even the horrible sadness aside, both pieces were so hard hitting for entirely different reasons and I listened to them so closely together. I think I've done myself in with this one boys.
“He’s my bbg”
And then it’s a man with PTSD, war crimes, a 50,000$ bounty, and if you even touched him he’d beat you violently to death
either junichirou's really good at acting or he should reaaaaaaaaaaaally be allowed to kill someone
Hi hello the old guard have been playing DnD since it became a thing, they just think it's really fun, Andy ALWAYS names her characters Quynh or Lykon and no one can stop her, Booker has refused to play a bard so far but Joe is wearing him down, and Joe ALWAYS DMs. He's good at math, story telling, improv, AND accents. Nicky tries to kiss up to him on his characters behalf all the damn time, but in this and only this Joe is a stone cold fox who doesn't play favorities.
They've had one campaign going since the start, they've all had at least 6 characters, Andy's had nine, and Joe just keeps expanding the world. Quynh (who has been watching via Booker for 3 decades) is so excited to join the party. Nile makes her first druid a few weeks after Merrick's, and Booker is only allowed to call them for weekly sessions.
what does horror mean to you guys? Like, is it an artistic expression, maybe a type of comfort, etc etc. Love your podcasts!!! 🫶
I guess I see it much like any genre - as a kind of licence, based on audience expectation and audience trust, to take them to certain places.
For me the only difference with horror, and what really excites me about it, is that it's a particularly flexible licence, with fewer hard requirements, and the driver is given more scope to go to stranger, bleaker, and darker destinations in pursuit of something interesting.
So we can debate whether elevated horror or torture porn or soft Halloween spookadoodles or whatever counts as 'real' horror (or indeed whether The Silt Verses should be called contemporary dark fantasy instead), or like Stephen King in On Writing, we can try and impose some kind of hierarchy of the audience's emotional responses, but horror resists these attempts to clearly classify it: humanity's collective understanding of the genre remains broad and mutable enough to include existential terror, cosy ghost stories, transgressive body horror, bleak and violent nihilism, and goofy Lovecraftian kitsch.
I love some of this stuff as great art and hate some of it as trash (and love some of it as trash as well), but the joy of horror lies in the fact that it's such a big, anarchic, permissive playground.
Horror is the sign on the door that simply promises, 'Bad things are going to happen.'
The difference between Hikaru and Kaoru,
Is that, if you put your hand over their mouth to quiet them, Kaoru would lick your hand out of defiance, and Hikaru would bite you.
Hey guys!
So my family just bought property in Arizona, it's in the middle of nowhere, dozens of miles from people. And while I grew up in the forest and knew the typical customs (dont step in fairy rings, avert your gaze from the glowing eyes in the woods, thank the trees) I have no idea of desert customs when it comes to ghosts and fae and the supernatural. I've never really visited the desert, so any advice would be nice!
Pics from my Twitter, continuation of the 'invitation for a fun night' pics 🙂🙃
I will not upload much here of this 'comic' for obvious reasons 😆
anthony "acts of service" crowley forced to do words of affirmation and he looks like he's about to have a heart attack the whole time
thinking about how Johnny and Alex met at a shitty night job and decided a few years later to write an audio drama that literally changed the lives of thousands of people. how Harlan was literally unemployed when he decided to start making malevolent, and now he's singlehandedly revolutionizing the audio drama landscape. or Zach Valenti and Gabriel Urbina being long-time college friends who wanted to make something fun with no expectation that over 20 million people would listen to it....not being hyperbolic at all when I say that some of the best pieces of audio fiction have been made in basements by teams of less than 3 people. wtnv has always been a few friends who wanted to make something interesting after their day job. i am just thinking of artists persevering under the crushing weight of capitalism. .. and great art made out of pure love and curiosity for an emerging medium...
