Hiya! So, um-
Figured i could actually- i dunno, post some writing here. Or, like, advertise it? Idk is that the right term?
Anyhow! Woo! This fic took me like- two-ish months of on and off work to finish cause uni is kicking my ass! But! It is done! RosaJeanLisa mediaeval fantasy au! I'll post the link and the summary below↓↓, because I prefer linking my ao3 account than just pasting it all here (my phone does not like when I do that on tumblr XD)
The world is filled with monsters. Or, the humans call them such. It's cruel though, right? To call something or someone different from you a monster, when often they mean no harm. Anyone without humanity is likened to a Hilichurl or some sort of rogue demon. But, it's not true. Those who lack their humanity, whether it had been taken from them or they'd been born without it, they are often just as human as those around them. Jean knows this, now, her wife is a witch, often seen as dangerous, and the familiar that is tied to her soul makes her a little less than human.
And Rosaria- she has not been anything near human in a very long time. And, she lacks humanity. She tells herself this, anyhow; she insists upon it, even though she won't reveal why. However, no matter how hard she tries, she cannot completely leave her humanity behind; cannot manage to shake emotions that she has long said she does not feel. Jean sees right through her facade, and that scares her. But the General and her Mage won't allow the woman to flee like she wants to. And maybe.... maybe that's a good thing.

I feel so sad whenever I see people talk about being late to make fanart..
This isnt school + fanart doesn't have a due date + fandom doesn't expire + your art will have its place in the world + i love you
I don’t know which fic writer needs to hear this but it’s unreasonable to expect of yourself to write all the story ideas that your mind comes up with. That’s not how creativity works! Unless you’re some kind of Productivity Georg that types at a laptop keyboard all day long, your mind just needs to rotate ideas and concepts like a room full of rotisserie chicken production lines. Some of them will end up being fully written, some of them will end up being 4 lines, some of them will be concepts inside a long list of fic ideas that will never get written, some of them will just fade. And that’s okay! You don’t have to beat yourself up for having a lot of ideas you don’t write, or a lot of wips you write a few lines or pages of and never finish. You wouldn’t expect an illustrator to just churn out full-ass paintings all the time, an artist will also just make sketches, line art, warm-up exercises, will just scribble some lines on a piece of paper. Your ideas and wips are just the same thing: warm-up sketches, exercises in creativity. And it’s also okay if you never really produce full fics, as long as your brain enjoys the exercise. Jogging across the neighborhood is not useless unless you win a marathon! It gives you endophins and strengthens your muscles and is healthy for you all around, right? Your fic ideas and pile of wips are the jogging. They give your brain the happy chemicals and exercise your creative muscles. You are not a failure for not turning your ideas into finished products. That’s just how it works.
i’m seeing ppl complaining that Dehya is fake catgirl bc her cat ears are just hair, but for me it makes it 1000% better bc like. She’s this tough, no-nonsense hardened mercenary and every day she takes time to style fake cat ears out of her hair. and they are not just triangular buns like Keqing’s, no, they are specifically ear-shaped, she clearly intended them to look like cat ears.
and it actually fits with her idle where she checks her make up in a little mirror, but hides it hastily so others won’t notice. like she clearly cares about her appearance, but pretends not to, and the cutesy cat ears are like whatever, no big deal, as if it wouldn’t take a lot of effort to style them. just like when she does smth nice for other ppl she pretends she didn’t do it or that it was nothing much, despite like giving everything she had. incredible character choice i love it
People are doom posting about Deyha and as a veteran Genshin player (AR 60, been playing since version 1.2, so I guess I qualify as that) I’d like to take this opportunity to remind this fandom of a couple things.
Y’all remember when Kokomi was released? People were throwing a fit over the crit rate thing and she was considered the worst character in the game. One update later, the Ocean Hued Clam artifact set was released and suddenly she became one of the best characters in the game. Shinobu was also considered one of the worst in the game when she was released. Her scaling was awkward and she was hard to place in any team comps. Then Dendro was released and what do you know- turns out her skills time out perfectly with dendro and elemental mastery gets a buff. Heck, dendro buffed electro in general and made pretty much all of them a lot more viable. The meta changes all the time, don’t worry about it.
Speaking of the meta, it’s made up. Any character is viable if you put the work in. Sure, it’s going to be a lot harder to build a dps Gorou and he’ll still probably do less damage than Itto, but if you’re having fun and still clearing the spiral abyss, who really gives a shit? A lot of it also has to do with dumb luck and how much money you’re spending. Like, my C0 Ganyu does a lot more damage than my C0 Ayaka even though Ayaka has higher base stats just because I got better artifacts for Ganyu. There’s also plenty of characters who’s damage is locked behind constellations and weapons, and that’s just straight up not going to be an option for a lot of players. Sure, you’re C6 Wanderer may do a ton of damage, but I don’t have him at C6. I do however have Heizou at C6 and he’s doing a lot more damage than my Scara. (Shout out to the mad lads soloing with Amber)
Lastly, mind you’re own damn business about what characters other people are playing. It’s not your game, you don’t get to dictate how other people play it (and you especially aren’t allowed to harass people over who they play)
While I was going through my followers to check for bots I saw this person (obviously on the younger side) complaining about what people are writing fics about
AO3 has a great filtering system. USE IT! Any tag you don’t like just filter out. If you read a fic without tags/warnings that is your fault for deciding to read without knowing the possible contents of the fic
"yOu hAvE aLrEaDy lEfT kUdOs hErE" BITCH STFU NO I HAVNT YOU WHORE
It would seem a whole new kind of AO3 reader/writer is emerging and it is becoming clear not everyone quite understands how the website community works. Here is some basic guidance on how most people expect you to go about using AO3 to keep this a fun community archive that funtions correctly:
Kudos is for when the story was interesting enough to make you finish reading. If it sucked or was badly written, you probably left. If you finished - you kudos.
If you liked it, you should comment. It can be long and detailed or a literal keysmash. Writers don't care, we just love comments.
No critisism unless the author has specifically asked or agreed to hear it. Even constructive critisism is a no-no unless an author note tells you it's okay. Many people write as a fun hobby or a way to cope with, among other things, insecurity. Don't ruin that for them.
Do not comment to ask the author to write/update something else. It's tacky and off-putting and will probably have the opposite effect than the one you want.
There is no algorithm, it's an archive. Use the search and filter function to add/remove the pairings/characters/tropes etc. you want to read about and it will find you the fics that fit the bill.
For this to work, writers must tag and rate stories. This avoids readers finding the wrong things and missing the stuff they want. I don't care how cringy that trope is in your eyes - it gets tagged.
Character A/Character B means a ROMANTIC or SEXUAL relationship of some kind. Character A&Character B is PLANTONIC, like friendship or family.
Nothing is banned. This is an implicit rule because banning one thing is a slipperly slope to banning another and another, until nothing is allowed anymore. Do not expect anyone to censor for you. Because of the tags system, you are responsible for your own reading experience.
People can create new chapters and sequels/fic series any time after they "complete" a story. So it's considered perfectly normal to subscribe, even to a finished story. You can even subscribe to the author instead just to cover your bases.
Do not repost stories or change the publishing date without an extremely good reason (like a complete top to bottom rewrite). It's an archive, not social media. No one cares what's the most recent, only what fits their tag needs.
Avoid deleting a story you wrote if you hate it - orphan it so others can still enjoy it, without it being connected to you anymore.
This is a creative fanfiction archive. No essays on your insights or theories please. There are other places for that.
I KNOW there's plenty more I missed but I'm trying to cover most of the basics that people seem to be struggling with.
I invite anyone to add to this, but please explain, don't berate.
