I honestly hate when people make Peter some annoying git or a tag along in marauders fics. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE some of them, and they’re literally my favourite book series. But it still ticks me off when Peter is written as some forgettable idiot. For gods sake, the marauders LOVED HIM. he was their brother, there was a reason why James and Lily trusted him. And he made his decision off of fear, not hatred for the others. Keep in mind I am in no way justifying what he did, it was selfish and horrible. I still hate the little rat for what he did, I’m just trying to say that he wasn’t just someone that the others didn’t love or care about.
Brotherly relationships be like. I miss you. I hate you. I can't stop loving you. When did you stop loving me?
Reckless, egged on by the warning glint in his brother’s eyes, Regulus continued. “You know, you talk a lot about how much you hate Mother, but you really are exactly like her.”
Sirius’s fist connected with his jaw faster than he could dodge, leaving him with a ringing in his ears and the taste of blood in his mouth.
Regulus ran a thumb over his lip as Sirius stood there, panting; it came away red. He smirked to hide the pain. “See? I say one thing you don’t like, and you go flying off the handle. Who do you think you learned that from? I can’t imagine it was Precious Prince Potter.” He felt like he was walking a tightrope, half an inch either way from plummeting, but he couldn’t stop. “You’re an asshole, you know that, Sirius? A proper asshole. Presumably so are your friends, since none of them have bothered to tell you. Actually - actually, I bet the only reason they keep you around is because you’re the one person shitty enough to make them feel good in comparison!”
Sirius's eyes were shining silver with tears, Regulus noticed with a jolt, but whether he’d even hurt his brother or just driven him into an impotent rage he couldn’t tell. He swallowed spit and blood, mouth suddenly dry. When had the room gotten so silent?
“Regulus, you should go,” Lily said, voice low. She was halfway out of her seat, one hand on James’s shoulder, but Regulus turned such a scornful gaze on her that she sat back down.
“I would love to leave, but if you haven’t noticed, I’m being kept prisoner,” he explained, enunciating each word as though educating a toddler. “Actually, wait - since you don’t have any legal grounds to keep me here, I’m not a prisoner - I’ve been kidnapped!”
“Regulus,” Sirius growled, “fuck off. Go to your room.”
Outnumbered. Regulus felt four glares boring into him, and offered Sirius a mocking smile. “Of course, Mother,” he said with a false curtsey, skipping backwards out of reach of Sirius’s next ferocious swipe. One last scathing look to the room at large, and he turned tail, making it three steps up the staircase before the tension in his chest snapped like a garrotte and he broke into a sprint. He slammed the door of ‘his’ room behind him, and threw himself onto the bed, half-wishing the frame would snap under the abuse. No such luck; it just took the hit, no complaints.
He could call Kreacher. He could summon Kreacher back here, Apparate away, tell the Dark Lord everything he’d learned during his imprisonment and damn the consequences. The more he thought about it, the better the idea seemed, and Regulus was on his feet and halfway to the wardrobe before he remembered that nothing in there belonged to him. The robes he’d arrived in were strewn across the bed, an extra blanket to stave off the winter chill; he screwed them into a ball and tucked it under his jumper. Lily’s jumper, but he wasn’t going to leave it and turn up at home half-naked. His wand was still unaccounted for; he’d have to get a new one as soon as possible.
“Krea-” he began, when he was interrupted by a soft knock at the door.
“-and those are just the ones that are closest to us!!” . . . Because @iamkatebishop wanted the young Black brothers
when regulus died he didn’t renounce the pureblood cause, he just defected from voldemort because voldemort wanted to be immortal, etc., so pretty much died being a racist that still wanted to blow up muggles, he wouldn’t come back from the dead and suddenly join the order or even be polite to harry + co
jesus christ regulus didn't even really care about or believe voldemort's opinions and his cause, does it matter he was a death eater and you think he was a voldemort fanboy? he was a death eater because of his family probably, or maybe later he realized he doesn't agree with lv's opinions. and how is it against his character to ship jegulus when we know little about regulus' character?
We know enough about his ideals, which matched perfectly with his family's as told by Sirius himself. Your stupid little cutesy headcanons don't change that. His family was actually opposed to directly joining Voldemort instead of just supporting him from behind. Why would he cover his bedroom walls with Voldemort's newspaper clippings if he wasn't a Voldemort fanboy? Why was he the favourite coddled child if he didn't agree with his family's views? Your fanfics are not canon lol it makes me laugh that you say he didn't agree with the Pureblood cause when the little information we have about him suggests that he did.
Sirius Black has a small tattoo of the Regulus constellation behind his right ear.
“Body horror takes the concepts of fear, disgust, pain, and evilness and makes them reside in the body. You can move out of a haunted house, but our physical form is something much harder to escape.”
Gabino Iglesias answering the question, What does body horror mean to you?
okay but do u believe in uwu soft reggie or bamf dark regulus black?
i have um. thoughts on this
ok i used to think so much about how fanon regulus would be written if sirius hadn't called regulus "soft" that one time in ootp. like imagine all we knew about regulus was that he died when he was 18 and the last thing he did was literally tell voldemort that it was regulus who betrayed him.
but then i realise that it's even better like this. because why can't regulus have both sides?
i think it's even better if sirius thought regulus was soft and sweet "this kid must be protected" and all but to most people, he's actually an intimidating... scary person.
like imagine everyone being genuinely terrified of regulus's temper and then imagine first year slytherins only asking regulus for help because he's the kindest?
imagine regulus being sneaky and cunning and manipulative and resourceful and single-minded abt things he cares about. imagine regulus being the one who nobody argues with, whose quiet leadership nobody ever questions.
and then imagine regulus being touchy and sensitive and hurt when he's with sirius and then imagine all this happening at the same time.
basically, anon what i like to think is : regulus black is a bamf powerful proud spiteful haughty shit and he's also miserable insecure little brother house elf champ reggie. he isn't the louder one or the brighter one but that doesn't mean regulus ever lets himself be walked over by anyone. he's insecure in a way that you'll never catch onto. on the outside, he's arrogant and basically the perfect pureblood heir but inside he's maybe just a tiny bit crazy
i was actually writing something yesterday that sort of touches on this, u can read if u want :
"Sirius told me he was young," Harry said, remembering Sirius's words. "Soft. An idiot, really, not truly bad."
"Regulus Black was never soft," the man scoffed, something strange in his eyes. "He just didn't know how to be harsh with Sirius."
Harry stared at him.
"Dark," he clarified. "Powerful. Magic like an ocean wave. Frightening aura. The way he looked at you, the way he flew. You knew what was coming when Regulus Black raised his wand. But Sirius was always there for him, when he was a kid. Sirius raised him, infant to toddler to Hogwarts. If someone's seen you as a vulnerable, crying little child," he laughed, humorless, "You can't possibly be anything but soft with them."
so. yes anon. regulus is uwu soft reggie and bamf r.a.b i love him yeah thanks for the ask <3
you're not just misinterpreting the characters, you're misinterpreting the entire story because you're thick in the head. once again i have to bear the burden of having every correct opinion in the world.
