I'm pretty sure that it's perfectly normal to sometimes have an occasional, random, vague little worry that you were molested as a kid and completely blocked out any memory of it, and now have no way to ever find out. Everyone thinks about that sometimes.

i think one of the biggest misconceptions about the story narrated in preacher’s daughter is that isaiah cannibalizes ethel as an act of love.

there is nothing romantic about it. isaiah is sadistic and manipulative, and ethel falls right into his trap. the warm and idyllic love describe in “thoroughfare” is nothing but ethel’s romanticization of her own abduction.

isaiah knows how to play this game very well. he’s practiced. he knows exactly what he is he doing and he picks ethel because she is vulnerable, alone and needs a place to stay, someone to trust. and in fact, she does trust him.

ethel feels bliss in this reality he offers her because it’s been so long since she last felt a sentiment even remotely similar to love. he tells her to be happy and grateful, so she is. (“I'm happier here 'cause he told me I should be”)

he has done this plenty of times. hayden basically confirms it in the demo of “strangers”, when she says “when you chewed me up and shit me out like every bitch you’re done with”. his plan was always to kill ethel. he drugged her and pimped her and when she was starting to become hard to handle, he killed her and ate her.

there was nothing loving about isaiah eating ethel.

he ate her because he was hungry.

Steve that gets quiet when he's comfortable with someone

It freaks Robin out the first couple times when she realized she'd been ranting for like an hour and he hadn't said a word but after some reassurance and him asking questions showing he was listening she realizes it's just a part of him

Eddie has spilled every errant thought and idea about his next campaign before he realizes Steve has just been sitting there the entire time he tells Steve to "just tell him to shut up next time no hard feeling" Steve just offers a besotted "I like listening to you talk"

I love when someone reads an account from someone who experienced severe abuse and says “wow! I have never been abused in my life and I think of abuse survivors as fundamentally Different than me but for some reason I hyperidentify with these feelings of humiliation, despair, and self-disgust, and react the exact same way to authority figures. how odd!” and then you find out what their home life was really like.

to be honest i got extremely annoyed when i see people express empathy for like. actual police dogs more than brown people because like the police using dogs at all is animal abuse but also the police is relying on people loving dogs to justify why they had to shoot that suspect they were hurting their doggie woggie :( (they kicked the dog away because it was gonna rip out their throat which it was trained to do)

Robin nods from where she sits at an adjacent table, trying and mildly failing to braid Will’s short hair. Will sits perfectly still and disciplined as Robin works. A complete contrast to the wild children that Steve and Eddie are actively managing.

It starts just before or around the beginning of Season 1. Steve and Eddie (or Steve, Eddie, Robin, and maybe Nancy) are sent back and they don’t give a shit about the high school hierarchy.

Eddie and Steve just run at each other and hug in the middle of the hallway. Steve has his arm around Eddie as they walk to class.

Hellfire and Tommy and Carol are losing their shit.

Eddie jumps on the table and starts one of his speeches, harassing Steve until he hops on the table with him and the lecture continues.

Tommy hears Eddie call Steve Big Boy and goes so red in the face he nearly passes out.

Steve and Eddie rig the prom vote so they’d win prom king and queen.

They raise a demo dog and run it through the school on a fucking leash.

Fun stuff like that.

how does one develop discipline in the first place. it seems like discipline requires initial discipline to develop. it's a paradox.

I think this is why so many kids want to grow up faster than they need to, it's because being a kid feels like a cage.

It is so fucking sinister that the only form of child abuse that society really cares about is sexual in nature. parents are free to control everything about their child's movement, presentation, eating, faith traditions, information exposure, socialization, and can restrict all of these things to an extreme degree as a form of punishment or in order to shape the child into whatever they want that child to be. and that's all considered completely normal, the parent's right! people don't even see the fact that a parent has the power to control so much about a child's life for damn near 20 years to be a problem. The only time they become concerned about child abuse is when the prospect of an outside stranger behaving in a sexual way toward a child is raised. and yeah a lot of really horrific sexual abuses are enacted unto children, but that's because they have zero control over their own lives and bodies in any other way as well. It is all about power and control. and typically the ones who are abusing children the most frequently are the ones who have the most control over them, the parents.

I keep seeing people call the Trump administration shit like “schizophrenic” and “psychotic” and can we fucking not do this please???? schizophrenics and people with psychosis have a biological and neurological basis for their behavior and beliefs. there is no biological basis for being racist and sexist and a monster. schizophrenics and ppl with psychosis are innocent. you can’t beat bigotry with more bigotry
