hey! call me jae. are you a beginner writer or have an interest in writing? here’s some tips to help you start/get better.
i suggest you use ao3 as a writing platform. i find it usually gets you more views than wattpad or fanfiction.net. you can also post your writings here on tumblr if you don’t want to wait for an invite to ao3 (i have a few i can use so if you’d like one i can and will gladly send you one!)
do not- and i repeat- do not!!! put!!! author’s notes!!! in the middle of a chapter!!! it’s so unprofessional and your story comes out choppy! you want to keep your reader invested, and when you have an a/n in the middle of the chapter it just does no good for your chapter!
don’t use slang/dead words unless it’s dialogue! slang/dead words are something you’d use while texting, or for gen z, talking! or words that have been overused and have lost their punch. if you don’t have a large vocabulary, i’d suggest a dictionary or a synonym book. ex: if i wanted to use “love” in a sentence that goes “i love this book!” it doesn’t really pack a punch. instead, i’d use “i adore this book.”
do not overuse parentheses! for example- “You know parentheses? (Those little crescent-shaped thingies?) Well, sometimes they drive me crazy (overuse, lack of clarity, fuzzy writing).” that would be an example of overuse. if your trying to be passive, or put in a point in there that doesn’t necessarily flow with the context of the sentence, i suggest using commas or dashes. of course, you can overuse them too, but they don’t look as choppy.
try to make the flow of you’re story go smoothly. the reader gets confused when you jump from subject to subject!
don’t switch povs during a chapter (you can do it every other chapter). switching povs constantly causes mass chaos in the readers mind. now you can change point of views if your going for a more stylistic story, but i suggest you don’t do that until your intermediate at best.
USE PARAGRAPHS!!!!!! it irks me when writers don’t use paragraphs when they move on to another subject! you don’t have to indent, this isn’t an english paper, but please please hit “return” or “tab” (depending on whether you’re on mobile or computer) to create a new paragraph! a good way to remember this is when your characters are moving on to another action then you make a new paragraph, or when the dialogue switches from person to person.
that’s it for now, reblog if you’d like a part 2/intermediate writers.
This is completely and utterly random but I think my city is very pretty

Everyone has that one person they can’t quite get over. You can move forward with your life, you can find happiness elsewhere but every once in a while your mind will always linger back to this person. It just feels… unfinished… like there are things left unsaid. But the funny thing is, even if you find this person and say all the things you want to… even if you do this time and time again, you will never get rid of that feeling. You will always feel unsettled and uneasy about the way it ended because the truth is it’s not about anything left unsaid or undone… What’s unresolved has nothing to do with words or actions – it’s your feelings. And it doesn’t matter how many times you go back to this person, weather you confront them or write them a letter or call them on the phone to say the things you feel you need to say to get closure… none of it will make a difference because deep down inside, for better or for worse… this person will always have a piece of your heart. Nothing you say or do will ever change that and it’s pointless to try so you may as well accept it. No matter what you do… it will never be over between you…

You don’t just return to yourself by meditating and working out. You return when you finally stop lying to yourself. When you stop romanticizing a situation that’s actively recycling the pain you said you wanted to outgrow.
I just discovered your account and I love your posts! Anyway, could you please make a moodboard for me? I have Libra Sun, Sagittarius Moon, Virgo Mercury, Pisces Mars, and Libra Venus. Thank you so much! 🤍🤍🤍🤍
1. Meditation - being present with ourselves. Making time to set down the mental baggage we accumulate throughout each day reduces stress & improves our mental health over time.
2. Mindfulness - grounding ourselves in the now. The present moment is where we experience our deepest joy. We must love ourselves enough to lose our mind and come to our senses when our thoughts wander away from the now.
3. Breath - the essence of life. Consciously taking deep breaths throughout the day has a calming effect on the body & mind and stops shallow breathing which can induce stress.
4. Nature - reconnecting with ourselves. Immersing ourselves in nature is essential for our healing because it influences the subconscious to create peaceful thoughts. There is no wifi in nature, but we are guaranteed to find a better connection.
5. Rest - making time to do nothing. Living our lives by the clock takes its toll on the body and mind - this is why we need to make time to rest. Rest does not mean spending hours in front of screens - it means completely relaxing the body and mind.
6. Tribe - surrounding ourselves with positive people. We cannot hope to heal ourselves if we are surrounded by negativity, we must spend our time with those who support and nurture our growth. A hot air balloon can’t take flight if it’s tied to the weights on the ground.
7. Diet - what we feed the body & mind. We are what we eat, if we are consuming positive content we will manifest positive thoughts. If we feed ourselves healthy foods we will manifest better physical & mental health.
8. Exercise - letting the yang energy flow. Strenuous exercise such as running allows us to release yang energy, expressing this energy through the body helps us to let go of anger & resentment.
9. Bathing - taking care of the vessel. Cleaning our vessels regularly promotes physical health and is a form of self-love. A regular hygiene practice also promotes self-confidence.
10. Creativity - expressing ourselves without limits. Repressed emotions are a common cause of mental health challenges, allowing these emotions to be expressed through creativity prevents them manifesting as poor mental and physical health.
