Hello friends!

Hopefully I won’t have to ask for help again after this month ends, but until then I’m in desperate need of help with groceries, transportation, my medication for the month and a train ticket to get back home after the school year finishes at the end of April.

If it also isn’t too much to ask, my younger brother current lives in the Netherlands and is applying for university here in London in the fall. He was supposed to be in the UK two weeks ago but his passport has expired, which he also needs to complete his university application. My family would have helped out but money’s been a bit tight the last few months since my parents are sending money home to a sick relative.

I genuinely wouldn’t come here and ask if I wasn’t desperate, but it’s been a desperate few months. Any help at all as always is greatly appreciated. Thank you❤️

As the staff post about ad-free tumblr continues to get thousands of notes telling staff to fuck off in the tags, I wanna remind you that this website's days are numbered. Tumblr is still unprofitable and by some modern-day miracle none of its acquiring companies pulled the plug on this money pit. But it will happen if it continues its trajectory.

Whether you like it or not, Tumblr needs to make money off you somehow in order to stay up. It either serves ads or asks for money to use it. This has been a paradigm on the web longer than many of you have been alive. It's Tumblr's job to make money right now because it's well past its grace period of being a black hole for cash. This has actually always been Tumblr's job, since it is a corporation, but that's capitalism for ya.

If you want Tumblr to be here for free and you want to continue to use it, you do yourself a disservice by opposing any changes Tumblr makes in order to pay for its costs. When this site finally goes belly-up then you're gonna be Tumblr-less until whatever startup takes its place and the cycle repeats itself.

If you think it should just ask for donations Wikipedia-style, remember that if and when that happens, there will be users repeating the same tired bullshit about giving Tumblr any money.

Tumblr: DO NOT TAKE DOWN THE GROUP CHATS

I think I speak for the community when I say that none of us want the group chats gone. They are a great way to connect with each other and find like-minded people without it being completely public, out in the open for everyone to see, not to mention most of us have many interests, so our accounts are not dedicated to only one thing. Group chats enable us to talk about specific interests without clogging the timelines of people that share our other interests with topics they don’t care about. Group chat members are already starting to make lists of usernames on other websites and apps such as Instagram to keep in touch with each other there, or even sharing their phone numbers to make them on WhatsApp, which I am sure you agree may put people (especially minors) at risk. We would like to see this feature stay. At the very least, we deserve a real explanation as to why this is being taken away. We will not be quiet until we get to keep this feature or until you provide an explanation. Thank you.
