The real thing may have only been the size of a beach ball, but making Sputnik the same height as Yuri Gagarin was too good of an idea to pass up.

History changed on October 4, 1957, when the Soviet Union successfully launched Sputnik 1, the world's first artificial satellite. It was around the size of a beach ball, weighed 83.6 kg (183.9 pounds), and took about 98 minutes to orbit Earth on its elliptical path. This ushered in a new age of political, military, technological, and scientific developments, and although the Sputnik launch was a single event, it marked the start of the space age and the U.S.-U.S.S.R space race.

hi Robin! I love your art sm! I was curious, what are your inspirations for your art style?
Hoooo boy, where do I even begin!
First off, my preference for detail stems from professional comics and manga (bonus points for series' with good practical or sci-fi designs like Nausicaa, Dorohedoro, Dragon Ball Z, Honneamise, Doctor Aphra. etc.), as the high industry standard of polish blew my mind. Whereas I gained my whole robot fixation deal from stuff like Chipspeech and browsing ArtStation.
As for artists...Jamie Hewlett, Luke Pearson, Shikishima (the one who makes the spacecraft anime girls, take one look at their work and you'll know immediately how my brain chemistry changed), Ken Done (he gave me a free poster once, core memory), Moebius and Pixoshiru come to mind. But I by far have the most vestigial habits from Andi Watson (I used to read his comics religiously as a kindergartner, he was basically my budding-off point when it came to art), which is evident in my veeeeery specific way of faking text as well as whatever the hell my simplified doodles have going on.
OC paintings so far! They are all based on something space related!
Left to Right:
James Webb (JWST), Trappist (TRAPPIST-1), Spitzer (SST), Chandra (CXO), Discovery (Space Shuttle), Habex (HabEx concept), Lynx (Lynx concept) and Luvoir (LUVOIR concept)
I have more ocs I plan to paint! Hubble and Origins are on the top of my list right now. Hope some of you might be interested to see them!
I also like talking about my ocs so if you want, you can ask me questions about them, or talk to me about anything space related because I love space!
Call me Robin! I draw robots and stuff! A spacecraft fandom blog for the most part. 📍Shanghai, boring person extraordinaire, 中文/English, he/she. https://linktr.ee/RobinW
