Car Trunk vs Car Boot: A clear win for US English, trunk was already a thing in which you stored items, frequently for transport.
Crisps vs Chips: I gotta admit, the Brits have this one. They're thin slices of potato that have been made crispy. No chipping of any materials involved.
Car Park vs Parking Lot: Equally matched. What's a car park? A place to park cars. What's a parking lot? An otherwise empty lot where you can park.
Elevator vs Lift: Both equally fail to address that the damn thing also goes down.
Yknow the thing where red pandas just lay down on a branch and let their legs hang and they’re just like vibing

23/12/24
day 17: 102exam
- finished 26.5
- got like all questions answered in office hours like sorta
- actually solved an elasticity problem like 75%
- know more about defects and how to solve them
- made flashcards
Ahhhhhh
day 17: 102exam
day 16 def did happen and did much stuff but look
Anyway
Two practice midterm 2 problems (gotten from email)
HAVE A STUDY GUIDE crazy might try to break it up into thirds
Submitted homework but got it returned
Two plane groups gotta get checked (that was most of yesterday as well)
Started then got stuck on third tank tensors
Also stuck on lenaoard Jones potential
Made progress with point defects video
Also added to flashcards
day 15: 102exam
FINISHED THE FUCKING LECTURE 26 VIDEO
Sent a super detailed email waiting for a reply about some questions
Did a few practice problems
Made a few flashcards
day 14: 102exam
Office hours asked many questions learned about coulombs energy and tensors and hamiltonian matrix
Made minor progress to lecture 26.5
day 13: 102exam
- marginal progress on section 2 of the videos
- did some practice problems
Finaihed one practice problem all the way through the rest still got stuck but at least moving forward. And learned a bit about stereographic projections patterns.
- started problem set 9
lec 25 COMPLETE
Worked on practice problems and asked questions in office hours so making progress not sure how many still haven't finished problems all the way through but I am at least not staring at a blank page
day 11: 102 exam
- Watched video for lec 25 until the video crashed :/
- attempted two practice problems
- attended last lecture
oh also day one of dead week completed
1/3 through lecture 25
Went to office hours
Office hours was really good for doing parts of practice problems as well as answering some bonding questions. Honestly bonding questions weren't super clear still but it's hard for like wave functions to make a lot of sense. Main take away is we'll only be looking at one elextron systems which is good. Some motivation to examine roto inversions. And some elastic tensor work and also philosophy of approaching math as like a language of rigorous logic as opposed to correct steps to be taken.
Office hours was really good really productive.
