Honestly, if narumitsu could ever become canon, I would like it the best if it were off screen, and just sneakily implied. Like maybe during a case, a piece of evidence is a tube of toothpaste and Phoenix points out that while all the other tubes of products in the victim's house are squeezed unevenly, only this specific toothpaste isn't, so that means someone that isn't the victim used it - and Edgeworth would say something like 'So you're suggesting the victim had the same barbaric tendencies such as yours, but was involved with someone that didn't' 'A reason to kill indeed' and then Phoenix's animation sweating bullets. ....Or other stuff like that. It would just be both extremely cute and extremely funny to me.

I promised a dance in the extra doujin.

7 year gap Narumitsu fic recs (part 1)

The seven year gap years are some of the richest for Narumitsu fan fiction. Below are seven of my favourite seven year gap fics, in no particular order.

1) Open-eyed, burn the page by just_a_wavefunction

Rating: T Words: 1629 Time to read: 7 min

Fucking GENIUS! All of it. This short fic has plot twists, emotional twists, delicious caginess, frustration, and the calm collected brilliant mind of Miles Edgeworth at work. There is a moment in this work that made me gasp and make a sound out loud, and one simply brilliant last line. What a rush. Just, yeah, Genius.

2) Make good what has been just so bad by SapphireWine

Rating: G Words: 1,918 Time to read: 10 min

SapphireWine and knows how to build and release tension. This is a short one-shot set during one of Phoenix and Trudy's visits with Miles overseas that captures the moment Phoenix has one of his best 'bad ideas.' ; )

4) Turnabout Sorrows by royal_subterfuge (orphan_account)

Gah!!! So. Damn. Good! One of those fics that I have come back to read it again and again for that rush of dopamine. This one takes place in Germany with Phoenix and Miles finishing off a bottle of wine together. Seriously this might be my all time favourite fic on Ao3 (yeah, yeah, I may have said that about 5 or 10 other fics, each for different reasons). Why the author orphaned their account I will never understand. I hope they some how still feel the fan love sent their way...

5) The Reasonable Man Test by realizationtime

Rating: T Words: 5,901 Time to read: 20 min

Trucy discovers Phoenix’s diary. I think that in the future, I might make a post about this fic all on its own. It is sensitively and compelling written, and deals with themes of mental health. This fic welcomed me in, then kind of slapped me in the face, but smooched me and hugged me and told me that things were going to be ok, or at least that loving souls will be ok despite the pain.

6) Like a house on fire by zombiekittiez

Rating: M Words: 19551 Time to read: 80 min

A beautifully crafted Miles and Trucy relationship-centric story. From the description:

"The phone rings and Miles answers, voice sharp and forbidding, jarred from a rare restful sleep.

“Do you have any idea what time it is, Wright?”

“No,” a soft, contrite, feminine voice says over the line. A young voice.

…and that is how Miles Edgeworth finds out about the disbarment."

7) talk me down by halfdemonvash

Rating: E Words: 69,063 Time to read: 5 hours

This fic just came out in October of last year and it is wonderful. I bookmarked it immediately after the first chapter because of the quality of the writing. It is easily one of the best 7 year gap fics I’ve read. Solid characterization and some nice schexy times. Chapter 2 could be a stand-alone story, it is so solid and beautifully crafted. And BONUS! It's a wonderful case fic too.

One of my favorite things in media is when writers give otherwise stoic, logical characters "silly" interests and hobbies.

Literally, Shu Takumi COOKED when he gave Miles Edgeworth his Steel Samurai hyperfixation.

Truster - English translation of one of the short stories in the Ace Attorney Fanbook

I uncovered THE most insane pieces of 'official content' I have ever seen, and I needed to translate the whole short story because more people need to know it exists. It is legitimately more charged than most fanfiction portrayals.

The scene is primarily the hospital sequence from Bridge to the Turnabout (3-5).

No word of a lie, this OFFICIAL CONTENT includes, as a TLDR:

Miles Edgeworth thirst trap.

The fact that apparently 'unnecessary feelings' have upgraded to 'deep feelings'

The line "If you’re within my reach, I’ll do everything within the power of my body and soul to save you" - which is also thought about whilst naked.

Miles Edgeworth jumping a queue, slamming down his government ID card, and absolutely pulling rank on a receptionist by threatening to mobilise the entire police force unless she tells him where Phoenix is.

Miles Edgeworth being willing to use an elevator in order to see Phoenix quicker.

Miles Edgeworth running around a hospital like an absolute lunatic.

Miles Edgeworth intently watching Phoenix as he sleeps.

Both of them described as gazing into each other's eyes nearly every other sentence.
