Some rambling and a version without text under the cut-
Ok ok I know this is technically impossible, since Flora and Fauna are born in the post-incident Dreamtale, but what if the four of them could spend a day together? What kind of day would it be? I imagine it would be just them enjoying each other’s company and playing around, ‘cause they are all just children. And you just can’t play outside and not get dirty, so yeah, here’s my explanation. Initially only the youngest ones were dirty but then I got a little too much into drawing stains…
Yeah, Flora and Fauna’s designs are amazing, drawing them was super fun! But it feels like my version of Fauna looks way more like a cat than he’s supposed to, oops
And this is my first time trying to draw an actual background (not just fill it in with one color haha), so eeh it’s pretty simplistic, but I tried. Apparently, my drawings either look like I spilled all the colors of the rainbow on them at once (look at this sunset), or they are just so dark that you can barely see anything. No in between :D
Anyway, here’s the version without text in case anyone is interested, and click for better quality, because I don’t know what thick lines are, so a bunch of them is barely visible xD

Yellow everyone! Here, have a Nightmare centered oneshot! Yep, that’s right: Nightmare. This is mostly because of @dreemurr-skelememer‘s drawing of an argument between the brothers that just vibed with me so much, I had to write an aftermath type thing from what I think Nightmare would react. Hope you enjoy!

The sound of the portal echoed in his ears. He stared at the last place his brother was, not moving, not blinking as he left. The clearing fell into an uneasy quiet, like it too shared his feelings of surprise and anger over what had just happened. He couldn’t even hear any wind. It was, if he was honest, unreal.
Nightmare stared. He stared and stared, although he had no clue why.
He stood there, chest heaving and yet not hearing his breathing; the static in his head too loud.
He should leave. He had no reason to remain here, so the logical thing to do would be to open up a portal, just like Dream did, and leave, forgetting this ever happened. His boys would distract him from thinking about this further with all their games and chaos they do when they aren’t battling. Soon, he would forget this ever happened, just like Dream would. Soon, they would be back to their regular fights, regular taunting and banter, regular pleas and arguments.
Soon…everything would go back to normal.
…
…
…
However…
“You were everything to me…” Broken voice. Tears running down, never-ending. Desperate for an answer that Nightmare couldn’t give because—
…something tells him that won’t happen.

anyways have a really short drabble i wrote in discord in like 10 minutes based off this prompt
“i have to go.. iron... my cat.” ink steps back, smiling nervously at the taller, goopy being in front of him. nightmare, on the other hand, looks fairly unamused.
“ink you can just say you’re uncomfortable.” despite his attempt to keep his voice monotone, a hint of sadness seeps through.
“no! no i just- it’s not like that i *swear*.” ink waves his arms, trying to reassure him. “i just- don’t know how to respond? i’ve never been asked on a date before-“ he’s about to go off on another rant, but nightmare interrupts him.
“you can say no-“
“but i want to!” ink pauses, fiddling with his scarf “yeah. yeah i want to. i just- okay to be honest i was gonna go home and scream for at least 10 minutes.”
nightmare snorts, smiling a little “so.. that’s a yes?”
“yes.”
“alright. well, you can go iron your cat now.” he snickers softly
“don’t mock me!”
Excuse me, did you just turn a silly random idea of mine into an amazing concept? I love this, it fits them so well

One more question though... How do I stop thinking about Dream, Nightmare, Flora and Fauna running into the revived tree on the count of three screaming "fusioon!!" and -whoosh- a flash of light blinds everyone in Dreamtale for a second, and then the tree is alive again, the balance of feelings is restored, everyone is happy, woohoo

It’s been really fun the last week, trying to escape from the Quarentine by traveling through AUs and all that (and succeeding to do so, by the way, despite the fires and floods), but let’s face it- there are actual people who are struggling during this Pandemic. I myself plan on opening up commissions and a Patreon so that I can get money from my writing on top of searching for a job, but there are people who are in more need that I am.
Specifically, I am talking about Sion, who isthe Author of ‘From Your Point of View’, the body-swap Errink story that TheGrinningKitten is translating from Russian to English. (If you haven’t read it yet, please do! It’s THAT good! Not to mention that it’s one of the biggest inspirations for CKtE.)
Sion and her family have been going through a rough time, and they could really use some help. She’s an amazing artist on top of being an author, and her commissions are open if you would like to commission her. Hello, I know this is probably quite out there but have you ever considered Reaper/Nightmare-?
Ohohoh, you bet I’ve thought about them.
Goodness gracious there’s so much potential. Reaper has gone almost entirely unexplored outside of Geno and Life. The content with Error is mostly about how he used to be Geno.
But Nightmare? The King of Negativity himself? Listen. Death undoubtedly brings angst of all kinds. Reaper’s quite aware of it, and it’s part of why he doesn’t like his job. But then this dark figure starts trailing him. Doesn’t even bother with being out of sight. Just hangs around in the shadows and watches.
Surely, that would garner at least some curiosity. Nightmare has a powerful presence, and can back it up literally and figuratively. Reaper is on a similar level, being a god of death. He’d eventually ask, and Nightmare would happily oblige in being a dramatic bastard and introducing himself.
One of the differences between them is how they interact socially. Reaper is aloof and takes things lightly. Sure, he might flirt occasionally, but the point would be the pun, not the intent. He’s very much used to others not liking him, so brushing it off casually is his way to deal with it.
Nightmare, on the other hand, is far more serious. He’s feared, but also respected by those he has power over. He didn’t have the established god status that Reaper does, and therefore gained control through negotiation and clever words.
My point? Reaper is an awkward pun lover who aches to have any sort of proper connection to another being, while Nightmare is a demigod king who knows he has power and flaunts it, who might also be a bit lonely despite his knack for getting into someone’s mind.
I’ve certainly considered them, and they’re not as “out there” as you’d think. :)
