Mousey: While I was brushing my teeth and while I was doing all my stuff. And I’m like looking at myself in the mirror and I just all of a sudden it- it dawns on me that I’m standing in my bathroom looking at myself in my mirror. I am standing without assistance looking at myself in my mirror. And I’m brushing my teeth and I’m walking around my bathroom like a normal human. And then I started to think about, man that comment just made me realize what my 7 year anniversary really was about and it just made me think just how far I’ve come. It made me think about how my vtubing journey is especially important to me and especially special to me because not only is it my- how much I’ve worked to do this whole vtubing shit but it’s also a testament to myself personally. Which is something special to me because when I started vtubing I could not stand. When I started vtubing I could not walk. When I started vtubing I was bedridden and I could barely lift my head off a pillow. And it has taken me 7 years, 7 years of work, 7 years of whatever the fuck this has been, to be able to finally live as a normal human in my house walking around. Getting up, doing normal things. And it’s just insane to me to think that 7 years ago I could not stand in front of a mirror and brush my teeth.

Sometimes shit gets really hard and sometimes I feel like I’m regressing and I feel like shit just isn’t working out but I don’t really look at the big picture and I don’t realize just how far I’ve come to where I am today. You don’t really think about those things sometimes. And it just like hit me like a train yesterday when I was thinking about all this shit. And also I feel like it’s important to talk about this shit cause I just want people- Anybody that watches me, anybody to know that you may have a million and one setbacks in your life, you may have a million and one things that fuck you over in life but if you have enough perseverance and if you want it that bad you can take your life back. And you can make it into whatever the fuck you want. So I just want everybody to know.. that you can do it! Sometimes you feels like you can’t do it and it might not be in the way that you want to live your life and it might not be in the way that you want to do things but you can find a way to live life your way and do things your way.

part 2, upcycling and styling clothes

🌷 when styling outfits, i usually start off with a colour scheme. some go-to palettes are: pale pink, light green, and cream; peach, pear green, and sunny yellow; lilac and mint; rusty brown and soft teal; baby blue and milky white; forest green and rich brown; vintage red and leaf green, etc etc. maybe list some go-to colours you feel best in and pair them up! i don't love bright oranges, yellows, pinks and reds on me so i tend to go for muted light tones, but you might love vibrant floral colours or darker goblin shades, up to you<3

🌷 another way to get started on styling is textural combos: as detailed in my last style post on finding cottagecore pieces, my go-to textures are cord, crochet, broderie anglaise, knitted, lace, chiffon, linen and the like. i love pairing a heavier, rougher texture like cord with something light like broderie anglaise, or a thicker texture like knit with papery lace or linen. complementary contrast is the goal!

🌷 if you, like me, can't shop for new clothes often/at all, upcycle old clothes with embroidery, new buttons, patches, lace edging, fabric paint leaf/flower prints, and more! look for upcycling inspo if you're stuck and then just swap the motifs/fabrics for something more cottagecore.

🌷 experiment with layering: try a turtleneck or blouse under a lighter summer dress, or a heavier cord jacket over a breezy top and skirt.

🌷 when it comes to pattern, you can go as crazy or minimal as your style warrants!! i tend to just choose one statement patterned piece and pair with block coloured clothes that pick out less obvious colours in the pattern. sometimes i'll pair pattern with pattern, but my trick for that not being too garish is to pair a ditsier pattern with a very different pattern of the same colour palette (so i won't pair flowers with flowers, i'd pair subtle flowers with gingham).

🌷 accessorise!!!! if you can't find any interesting statement pieces with cool patterns or fabrics, add cute diy cottagecore earrings, hairclips, badges, patches, and jewellery - there are plenty of how-to vids on youtube.

🌷 if you're really stuck for how to assemble outfits, my go-to garment combos are:

- flowy dress with heavy/oversized cardi and chunky shoes

- long sleeved blouse under a corset top/strappy top with flared trousers/mom jeans and docs

- belted cords with a blouse, knitted cardi and boots/converse

- turtleneck under a shorter dress with platforms/chunky shoes

- long granny skirt with a collared shirt/blouse and big woolly jumper with converse or mary janes

- long sleeved blouse under a strappy/lace-up dress with docs

Just for lols. I’m doing a dream cast for Rick Riordan’s hero’s of Olympus, using only singers/rappers. For Percy Jackson I’d cast Merlyn Woods of brockhampton fame. He’s the perfect amount of chaotic, weird, determined and resilient AF to play Percy.

I’d cast Phoebe Bridgers as Annabeth Chase. Bridger’s has the same aloof but kickass energy Annabeth possess and it’s all balanced by a precise dosing of vulnerability. Also high key intelligence the kind that’s obvious but still sneaks up on you.

For Jason I’m casting Denzel Curry. Denzel got some dark shit in his past but y’all wilding if you don’t think he make a great leader. Man is a visionary, introspective as hell and focused. He could pull of Jason Grace easy.

Piper McLean would be played by Kehlani. She has a deep seated emotional intelligence to her and a great deal of vulnerability that’s so well traversed it’s utilized to it’s fullest capacities, as a strength not a weakness. Piper takes some time to learn this but I think Kehlani would do a good job showing this growth.

Jacob Peng would be perfect as Frank Zheng. He’s cut but a huge teddy bear on the inside. That’s not to say he’s not tough, loyal and hardworking. Also he was very quiet and shy early on in his career like Frank.

I’d like to see George Ezra play a massive shit head. It’d be funny. So I’d cast him as Octavian.

Amine a goof and a ladies man. He’d be perf as Leo Valdez.

Hozier has fucked a nymph. I know it. Grover underwood.

Charlie XCX that chill bad bitch but kinda not just like Reyna.

Hazel levesque would be portrayed by princess Nokia. She classy but tough.

So this is really awesome! These are Disney princesses reimagined as disabled and drawn with service dogs. The artist, Arien Smith, drew these in 2017, but they have become viral only recently. Arien features all types of dogs in his portrayals as a way to educate about disabilities and service animals. He also does other dog related art. Arien can be found on Facebook under Royal Service Dogs or the major barkana. Hopefully more artists, or, you know, actual major film/tv/book creators begin to incorporate disabilities and service animals rather than pretending like they don’t exist (but that’s a different rant for a different day, 🙃).

The one thing that I would change about the wicked movie is I would have included a detail from the Wizard of Oz book that was referenced but not explicitly stuck to in the stage musical. The movie didn’t keep it but I wish they did because it lowkey makes no one looking twice at Elphaba in the Emerald City make more sense

In the Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy’s little posse gets to the gates of the Emerald City and a guard gives them these special glasses and locks them onto their faces, because supposedly the glasses protect them from the bright sunlight that reflects off the emerald buildings in the Emerald City, which would blind them otherwise.

They later find out that these glasses are a total sham. They’re just glasses with green lenses. Dorothy buys a green dress while they’re there that magically turns white the second she steps outside the city? It was never green in the first place. The Emerald City itself is not actually green. The Wizard just started mandating these glasses, told everyone the city was green, and they believed him. It really establishes just how much power the Wizard has, even after they realize he has no real magic.

If everyone was wearing these in the Emerald City in Wicked, I just think it would have added another layer to the whole scene when they visit. Elphaba would think everyone in the city is so much more openminded, and it’s actually that they can’t really see her at all. She’d think she’s in a safe place where for the first time in her life she can blend into a crowd, but it’s all an illusion. She and Glinda could get out on that balcony and look down and realize the city is not actually green. This is the one detail I would have changed about the movie.
