Hi everyone! I have seen that there are many Cats fans in many productions but I have hardly seen post or fans of Latin productions or at least in Spanish, so I have decided with some friends to start a Latin or Spanish fandom group, so if you are a fan of Cats in Spanish and you don't find anything about Latin productions you can contact me, for now we are a small group group in messenger but when there are more people it will be a group on facebook, I know this sounds like a TV commercial but it is good that the productions in Spanish especially Latinas have more recognition, if you want to join the group you can contact me I leave you the link of my facebook

Now, growing up I was never a fan of Peter Pan, the original story or the Disney version. And I’m still not a fan. What I am however, is a sucker for a fairy tale retelling which is my favorite type of story. I just love it when an author is able to take the essence of the original story so that the reader can recognize and relate to the characters that they know and love, but the plot has changed to make it a unique and fresh new story. Â
Everyone knows the story of Peter Pan. The setting is Neverland where Peter Pan and his group of lost boys must battle against the villainous Captain Hook. In the end, they are victorious and the Captain is fed to the crocodile. But, is that the real story? Is Hook actually a villain or is he a man that has been forced into a role? The truth is that he is Captain James Benjamin Hook, a man who was cursed centuries ago by his lover to fulfill the role of the villainous captain in Peter Pan’s story. And his story is a lot darker than the Disney version. Just like a child, Peter loves games, but his are a lot bloodier which often result in Hook’s death by crocodile feeding only to revive in order to play out his role once more. He seems to be doomed to this fate until an adult woman named Stella appears in Neverland, something that has never happened before. Hook sees this as a sign that things are changing and regains hope that he may escape his role. But he must take care since adult woman are forbidden on the island according to Peter Pan’s rules and he won’t let go of Hook without a fight.
This fairy tale retelling was very well written because although it was a new take on the story, it still had all of the elements that make it Peter Pan. The author managed to turn this classic into an adult love story. There were moments where the language got very flowery which made it kind of hard to read and it did drag on in some sections. However, the majority of the book was a pleasure to read and it really took off once the story got closer to the climax. I really liked this version of Captain Hook which has a ‘Count of Monte Cristo’ type backstory because originally, he came from a very wealthy family, was betrayed by a close friend, and came back to nothing after being a prisoner for years. As a result, he is filled with hate that leads to his curse. Stella has managed to keep her inner child despite suffering the cruelties of life and serves the purpose of redeeming Hook. Then, without giving away any spoilers, there are some surprise plot twists and the ending is bittersweet, but definitely a happy ending.
If you are a fan of fairy tale retellings, this is definitely a book for you. The author manages to mesh the innocence from the original story with the adult elements of love, redemption, some risqué scenes, and good old violence which made it a very interesting read. Â

Misto: Yeah, maybe he’s homophobic
Tugger: We're not gay
