Stone grabs Eggman's wrist, "Doctor, wait!"

A close up on startled Eggman, "Stone, what are you-"

"Please, just listen. It feels like you've been avoiding me-"

A close up on Stone, properly now showing his front. He looks tired, hair a little unkempt, beard scraggly, and is wearing an outfit similar to Eggman's with a dark coat over it.
He's now holding Eggman's hand with both of his as he continues, "Ever since... we haven't talked. Not about what you said."
Behind stone theres a faint overlay of the explosion from the Eclipse Cannon.

"Stone I... What's there to talk about?" Eggman says with a waver, which is portrayed by the shaky text box.
Beside the text box is 3 panels:
A coffee coup being passed from Stone to Eggman, his fingers resting slightly over Stone's
A recreation of "The Creation of Adam" with an arc of chaos energy connecting Stone to Eggman
Stone, crying, in GUN uniform clutching Eggman, who looks weak.

"Earlier, well, I wasn't thinking clearly." Eggman continues.
The next 3 panels:
Eggman angrily looks down at Stone, who looks happily back at him, their noses are touching.
Stone is behind an implied counter looking coldly down, Eggman is walking offscreen while being followed by Knuckles. The panel is slightly singed.
Stone is small and distant, looking up at something offscreen. In the foreground is the statue Anteros, who's bow aims in the same direction as where Stone is looking.

Eggman looks frustrated, face reddening . "I didn't mean any of what I said.
... you're unfired." the last part is said with a whisper.
He is covered in a volley of arrows, although one arrow striking the middle of his back is faintly scene blending with the purple of the background.

Stone looks defeated "Oh... WAIT" he jumps in realization "that's not what I-" a pause as he takes in Eggman for a moment
He sees him.
and Eggman sees Stone.
The two are holding hands, Eggman gently rubs the back of Stone's.
"I know."

his outfit includes the movie 1!Robotnik jacket & control gloves, with the rest of the look being loosely inspired by Eggman Nega?

I went through a few concepts before the comic became what it was, including another comic concept and an animatic:

The animatic specifically was going to be of "Because I Asked You" by Eleanor Friedberger, and was going to have a lil chibi intro of pre-movie 1 Stone & Robotnik.

I didnt get far in it obviously but one of the parts was salvaged and reused for the finished comic!
