Konbini (NiccoSasha)

Konbini (NiccoSasha)

Summary: they made eye contact once in the convenience store and now she can't stop thinking about him Rating: G

The pillows are ridiculously warm on both sides tonight, and even though the thermostat reads 21°C, the air swirling around the room feels nothing close to the temperature; if anything, it feels much closer to 35°C. She heaves out a sigh.

"This is ridiculous," she murmurs quietly as she tosses her blanket aside and swings her legs out of bed, marching downstairs to fetch herself a glass of water.

The scene from this afternoon replays in her mind, the ice cubes clinking merrily inside the glass every time she moves the glass in circular motion, the same array of thoughts haunting her nerves—the blond haired man; the absence of smile on his face; the ridiculous amount of lobster flesh he hoarded in the basket; the air of indifference emitted from all over himself; his brown eyes.

She had never seen him before. Is he new? Maybe she could ask Connie or Jean tomorrow, if they know anything about the mysterious man.

She presses a hand on her temple. No. No. They probably don't know him. This is a terrible idea to ask them. A small sigh escapes her mouth. Why does she care so much about him?

Bringing the glass to her mouth, she closes her eyes in an attempt to discard the image of the handsome man from her mind. She swallows the water in one big gulp.

Back in bed, her mind still preoccupied with the ghost of the brown eyed man — evidently unable to remove him from her mind — coupled with the incessant nagging of her heart to make an effort to look for him when morning arrives, she picks up the pillow nearest to her reach and hauls it over to her face. She screams into it.

Just as the scream dies down, the bedside table trembles from the force of her vibrating phone. She flails her hand and pats down the surface, reaching for her phone. Once the phone makes its way to her her grasp, she shoves the pillow aside and scans the Notification Center. A text message from Jean.

"What does Jean want at 3AM?" she says with a grunt.

Upon reading the message, her eyes widen in exhilaration. Surprise mingled with disbelief. She reads it three more times, just to be sure.

Hey, Niccolo from Economics wants your number. Can I give it to him? Tall guy, no smile, blond. He saw you at Konbini earlier today.

"Niccolo, huh."

Neither “the magic is going away” nor “the magic is just beginning” but “the magic has been around for fifty years and society has only partly adjusted”

I think I read this in Chapter 44 or something something in the AOT manga version 👆🏻👀😌

(jokes aside, this is so cuteeeeee and very possible to happen between the two of them)

I came across this prompt by @promptsforthestrugglingauthor earlier, and immediately thought, "This is Levihan," which is how this little ficlet was born. XD

The Tea That Wasn't Tea

Word Count: 1.000

Rating: T (for language)

Canon-compliant. Humour.

Levi was exhausted. Not just tired or worn-out, but truly exhausted. Worn to the bone. Which was why it didn't really make sense that his legs were automatically carrying to Hange's lab. But it simply happened, like it always did when they had been separated for a while, and he was immediately drawn to her.

He knocked, and moments later, a "Come in" sounded from the other side of the door. Hange was sitting at her desk when he stepped inside, an open book in front of her, with her personal notebook right next to it. She'd already drawn an illustration of some kind of plant in it and was currently writing something on the opposite page.

"What are you working at?" he asked after they greeted each other, despite not really being in the mood for small talk. He just wanted to sit down, have a good cup of tea and think about nothing-definitely not listen to one of her scientific excesses.

Hange seemed to sense it, knowing him better than anyone else, and made an undefinable gesture with her hand. "Ah, nothing that would interest you. Just a new plant I'm experimenting with."

Levi nodded, letting her go back to her writing while he strolled around the room, aimlessly running his fingers over the books lining her shelves and wrinkling his nose when he noticed how dust-covered they were. His gaze fell to the smaller table a little further away from her desk, where, to susprise, his own teapot stood.

"You made tea?" he asked, walking over to the table and placing his hand on the porcelain. It was still warm.

"Kind of," Hange replied absentmindedly. Her words were followed by the sound of her yanking open her drawer and rummaging through the writing utensils she stored inaide. She was probably looking for the pen he had already spotted in her hair.

"It's behind your ear," Levi muttered, noticing with careful satisfaction that a mug was sitting next to the teapot. After a quick inspection, he decided it was clean and poured himself some tea.

"Thank you!" Hange exclaimed, pulling the pen from her hair and immediately continued scribbling. "Where would I be without you?"

"Hm," Levi rolledes at her exaggeration and finally brought the cup to his lips. As soon as he took his first sip, he grimaced, frowning at the teapot. That wasn't a tea blend he'd ever tried before. It had a sharp taste, almost burning on his tongue, yet he also could detect a hint of sweetness once the first pungency subsided. He took another sip, and decided it wasn't for him.

"That's a terrible tea you've made. It's disgusting," he grumbled, taking one lasy sip for good measure, then shuddered.

"What tea?" Hange looked up, confused. Then her gaze fell on Levi's hand. "Oh, shit! Did you… did you drink it?"

Levi's stomach immediately dropped. "Yes, since you said it was tea. Why did you say shit? What did I just drink?" To his shock, his voice suddenly rose half an octave at the last words he spoke, sounding like a squeaking bird.

Hange stared at him, mouth slightly open and eyebrows raised to her hairline in surprise. "Talk again," she urged, her annotations completely forgotten as she walked over to him.

"What the fuck did you just poison me with?" Levi sputtered, praying that his voice would sound normal again. But of course, it didn't. It was unusually high, resembling a peeping chipmunk, and he could see how Hange was fighting hard not to burst out laughing, pressing her lips tightly together.

"I didn't poison you. You voluntarily drank part of my experiment," she stated, taking the teacup from his hand and sniffing it. "Interesting, the plant itself smells much stronger. But it seems that it loses some of its scent as soon as you boil it."

"Are you fucking kidding me? Fix this, right now!" Levi's blood was boiling, partly out of anger, partly out of fear. When would the effects subside? Would they even subside?

"Why are you so upset?" Hange asked, biting her lip as she gently patted his shoulder. To her, this entire scene was incredibly amusing. "It's not my fault you're so obsessed with tea."

"You could've warned me, and you shouldn't have used my teapot for your stupid experiments!" Levi squeaked, swatting her hand away. "You said it was tea—you tricked me!"

"I did not! You misunderstood. I said it was kind of tea, not that it was tea. And I didn't say you could drink it." She adjusted her glasses, convinced she was entirely blameless.

"This is my punishment for always being around you," he sighed, running his hand over his face. Hange giggled, bringing her hand to his cheek and giving it a brief squeeze.

"Nah, no need to worry, darling. I like having you around, which is why I'm going to fix this for you." When he hummed in displeasure, she giggled again. "Gosh, you sound so cute. I can't, I'm so sorry." She squeezed his cheek again, and he shot her one of his worst glances.

"I'm sure the effects will cease with time. But I'll work on something in case they don't." She poked his nose, then grabbed his arm to pull him over to her desk. "I've been analysing this plant because it has anti-inflammatory properties. It also contains a special substance inside that apparently tastes sweetly, but also temporarily coats your vocal chords. I was hoping it would evaporate or become ineffective when boiling the leaves." She chuckled, her eyes glinting mischievously. "But it seems that didn't really work. Thank you, by the way. Now I didn't have to try it myself."

"Ha, ha, very funny," Levi chriped, and when Hange burst into laughter, he decided he was going to remain silent for the rest of the day. Or for however long it was necessary.

And he was definitely never going to try something Hange had prepared again.

writing badly and cringily is actually an essential part of the writing process, both in terms of individual projects and in gaining voice and confidence as a writer in the long term. there is no way around the cringe. there's no way around the work.
