Still facing the same conditions of squalor & torture & being indefinitely separated from their loved ones. The stats on Palestinian detainees are still as bad as they’ve ever been. Before the war, Mahmoud was an Information Technology student at Gaza University, harboring dreams of building a brighter future for his family. Those dreams were shattered when the university was bombed, classes were suspended, and his home in Khan Yunis was reduced to ruins. Now, Mahmoud and his family live in a makeshift tent in a displacement camp, fighting to survive without water, electricity, or access to food.

The winter cold seeps through every threadbare inch of the tent, and the howling wind drowns out the silence left by everything they’ve lost. With his father sick and his brother in need of medical care, Mahmoud shoulders the burden of his family’s survival alone. Every day is a battle against hunger and despair, a struggle to find clean water and enough food to keep his loved ones alive.

Despite the ceasefire, the nightmare continues. The streets of Gaza are lined with hollow buildings and shattered glass, a grim reminder that peace is a fragile but unwavering hope. The infrastructure is decimated, jobs are nonexistent, and the people are left to fend for themselves amid the wreckage. Mahmoud's dreams of finishing his education are now intertwined with a desperate plea for survival—for the chance to escape Gaza, to rebuild their lives, to turn the page on this chapter of endless loss.

looking at (vetted) gofundmes for people trying to escape palestine and i don't know how many of you actually click on the gofundme links you reblog but i would like to point out, for what it's worth, just how amazing it is that so many have raised so much money. it may overall feel like a drop in the ocean but the fact that several gofundmes have raised tens of thousands of dollars is amazing. it is so expensive to leave gaza right now, and people still need money after they escape. but regardless of what propaganda the US, UK, canada, and other western nations are trying to pump out, people across the world are doing what they can to help these people survive. many of them are still very far from their goals (like this one and this one and this one) and some of them are very close to high goals (like this one), and some of them have reached almost double their original goal.

and that's not even addressing direct aid or organizations that take continuous donations for distribution of food, menstrual products, etc. the PCRF has raised $16,000,000 of their target goal of $20,000,000 to fund current aid and long-term relief efforts in gaza. ANERA's febuary 13th update discusses the material ways they helped palestinians today:

my point is, it often feels like the world is turning a blind eye to palestine. but i would like to point out that there is an important difference between "the world" and "western political leaders and media narratives". a breathtaking amount of real people, the people who make up the world, are trying to help. in the face of israel attempting to commit genocide, the world is saying No. These people deserve to live. and literally sending millions of dollars internationally, through the internet connection that israel has desperately been trying to destroy.

it may not feel like it matters in the grand scheme of things. but to the people who get fresh clothes, or a hot meal, or blankets, or the kids who get new toys, or to the people who are able to bring their families to safety, it matters to them. go make someone's day better. i've linked so many options with ways to do that.

I'm sorry but it's way too sketchy to have to "sign up" for a protest. There's no reason you should have to give anyone your full name, email, phone number, and/or address in order to march in the streets. People are getting arrested left and right because cops have access to information that connects people to the protests they were at. If an organization is having people "sign up to join the fight," all the cops need to do is access that list.

Just go. Don't leave a fucking paper trail.

Netanyahu decided today to continue the war. This means more children will be killed and many lives will be lost.

And don't forget the difficult humanitarian conditions of hunger and lack of basic resources for life. Let us be understanding and logical and take a serious stand with the oppressed Palestinian people. Let's come together toward justice and humanity. Don't get tired of standing by our side and supporting us financially by donating here and supporting us morally by participating and interacting. They were deprived of their most basic rights as children, their right to education, play and live safely like the rest of the children in the world. They were terrified and very afraid of the sounds of missiles. Our house was bombed while we were inside it and some of us were injured, but we miraculously survived. My house was completely destroyed in Khan Younis and I headed to the displacement camps on the beach. I had a beautiful house and I had clothing stores, but they were completely destroyed during the brutal war on the Gaza Strip, which was a source of income for us. The tent we live in now does not protect us from the heat of summer or the harsh cold of winter and rain. I want you to help me so that I can be with my family again

I have suffered from the war for more than a year and a half. I lost part of my family, my home and my work

We have nothing left here

I lost my dreams and ambitions after I drew a beautiful future

This war is cruel and brutal, we cannot provide the most basic rights

I also need to travel with my family if the crossing opens at any time in order to save our lives
