an ornithologist pointed a microphone at a bird sitting alone on a wire and caught the sound of the bird singing a song at a decibel so low that it would be impossible for another bird to hear it, meaning the bird was singing quietly to itself I love life
“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished; that will be the beginning. ” ― Louis L'Amour
Seen someone say “I can’t die, I got graves to dance on that hasn’t been dug yet.” And honestly, that goes hard. We need to keep that energy.
too abstract to live too concrete to die
Eboshi: THIS IS NOT A GAME!
Ashitaka: No, it most certainly is not.
San: Why are you doing this?
Eboshi: Yes, I’d quite like to know that as well. Why risk putting your life in further jeopardy?
Ashitaka: (*pissed off at this point*) BECAUSE IT’S NOT A GAME, EBOSHI! This is a scale model of war. Every war, ever fought, right here in front of you. Because it’s always the same. The moment you lay a hand on your sword, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who’s going to die! You don’t know whose children are going to scream and suffer! How many hearts will be broken? How many lives shattered? How much blood will spill until everybody does, what they’re always going to have to do from the very beginning? SIT! DOWN! AND! TALK!
Pale Blue Dot
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us.
On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives.
The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there –on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena.
Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.
Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light.
Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

told my girlfriend that if she proposes i want a secondhand wedding ring. i explained i don't want to contribute to a vanity-based industry like diamond mining, and that it would be important to me to continue marriage traditions in a way that causes minimal environmental and personal harm. she asked me if i was just trying to roll the dice on obtaining a haunted object, and i told her i can want two things.

You were so beautiful
Before they dragged you into hell.
