So they have almost managed to beat Jensen into submission (Not that I think he is ever going to fully agree). Their "keep asking him until he says what we want" strategy seems headed in the right direction. Poor Jensen can't even now say that interpreting his art in a way that is completely opposite to that intended is offensive to him as an artist. He has to behave like everything is abstract and open to what you take from it.

And Jared is going to hurt because of that answer, because he isn't giving in to them. I hope they just leave the boys alone. The new cons should prioritise questions on ongoing projects.

Fan: People find slivers of connection to your characters in vastly different ways. What you make is art, and what is art if not a mirror? So really, interpretations are more of a reflection of the viewer than the creators. And the nature of cons is that you're asked to say this or that about your character and sometimes that becomes the definitive thing, and sometimes fans use that against other fans, to be like, 'Well, Jared said' or 'Jensen said'. So how do you feel about the way your characters and scenarios are interpreted differently by other people that might not be the way you all see it. I know Jensen you said something about 15x18, where you said we're artists and the artist doesn't stand next to the painting and tell the viewer what to think about the painting. So do you think it would be a good caveat to say, these are - kind of the death of the author kind of thing - so how do you feel about how people interpret your characters so differently, is my question.

Jensen: I kinda still stand by that comment of we are creating - this is an art form that we get to do and luckily we have found an audience, so we get to do it more. But it is, yeah, I wouldn't wanna - I think early on I maybe took a little ... a little umbrage with what people were reading into maybe certain characteristics or certain storylines or whatever and then I realized that nononono that's not up to me to tell them how to interpret what they want to interpret. Or it's not up to me to be disappointed if they're not inspired by what I thought was y'know an inspiring - whatever it might be. And I realized, and I think we've talked about this, that it's like yeah, you don't go into a gallery and have the artist standing next to you and going, "This is what you need to see, and if you don't see it then there's something wrong" - or whatever. Because it's like, no, it is up to interpretation. And if it inspires you or if it makes you feel anything then I think that's the whole point of art and that's the whole point of entertainment is to bring feeling into escapism and feelings and connectivity, all of that should be a part of it but we shouldn't have to tell you that, that's a gift that we give to you and you get to do what you want with that.

Jared: Yeah, we can't tell you that.

Jensen: No, everybody's different.

Jared: I think the artist shouldn't stand next to the paining in this proverbial situation, but I think also the critic shouldn't come in and go like, "This is what that episode was about, this is what the relationship was about, this is what it means to me so this is what needs to mean to all of you." [Jensen nods] It's all incorrect. So whether it's art or life, some people listen to Stairway to Heaven and think it's about uh, you know, this mortal coil that we live with and some people think it's about Lord of the Rings and then you're like okay you're both right. But you don't - you shouldn't tell somebody else that they should think something about that because it means to you what it means to you. And that's great. It means to us what it means to us and that's great. You know, there are objective - there's objective and subjective, right? So if you say, 'Hey, Jensen, Jared, I just love the way y'all deal with aliens and their space ships on Supernatural". I'm not gonna say, "Hey, we didn't have any aliens and spaceships". You know if that's what it means to you, that's great! I'm gonna say that's not - we weren't talking about aliens and spaceships. Um, and so I think that's the wonderful part and why we're here after almost twenty years to talk about - it means something similar to a lot of us, but it means something very unique to all of us as well. It means something different to me than it does to him, even though we have much of a shared experience and probably everybody in this room. And so I think that's the wonderful part of -

Jensen: My answer is there's no wrong answer.

Jared: Yeah, yeah, it means to you what it means to you.

It’s November and you’re four years old and your brother is only six months and you already know that if you lost him tomorrow you wouldn’t know who you are anymore. 

You kiss him on the forehead and tell him goodnight. 

You run out the front door with him only a few hours later.

It’s November and you’re twenty-six years old and your brother is only twenty-two and you’re staring up at his dorm complex with your hands stuffed into your pockets, shaking slightly, working up the courage to break in. 

It’s cold and your breath comes out in puffs and you know that if you don’t get the answer you want, you might just drive off a bridge.

You walk out the front door with him an hour later. 

Two days after that you’ll carry him out.

It’s May and you’re twenty-seven years old and your brother is only twenty-three and you’re running towards him as a knife is pulled from his back and he falls to his knees.

You catch the world in your arms and watch it fade away to nothing like sand slipping through your fingertips.

You’re pretty sure the whole world can hear your scream.

It’s February and you just turned twenty-eight and your brother isn’t yet twenty-four and you’re being held tight in his arms and you don’t fully understand why, only that he tells you he never wants to listen to Asia again. 

When he tells you the full story, you spend the night after the revelation awake and staring at the ceiling.

You try to imagine what Hell might be like. 

You see your brother dying over and over and over again with no way to ever stop it and almost throw up as fear eats away at your stomach.

It’s May and you’re still twenty-eight and your brother is only twenty-four and your chest is being shredded and your blood is flying in all directions and you can hear your brother screaming. Or is that you?

The world goes dark and comes back into focus in a world of darkness, pain, and loneliness. 

You scream your brother’s name. It’s the only prayer you know.

It’s September and you’re not yet twenty-nine and your brother is still only twenty-four and you see him for the first time in forty years and you smile for the first time in just as long. 

When he holds you, you nearly breakdown.

His arms feel exactly as you remember them. 

It’s May and you’re twenty-nine and your brother is only twenty-five and you’re calling to him, not sure he can hear you through the wood of the door, but that doesn’t matter. He needs to hear you.

He doesn’t. 

Your heart cracks in half.

It will never heal.

It’s May and you’re thirty and your brother is only twenty-six and you’re pressed up against your car, your face fucked to Hell and that’s what you’re staring at right now, a gaping maw to Hell, open in the earth before you.

Your brother stands on the edge of it with his arms spread wide.

For a moment it seems like he won’t fall in.

He does. 

This is the first time you think you’ve lost him forever.

It’s November and you’re forty-six and your little brother is only forty-two and a lot of time has passed. And this is the last time you’ll see him. So you make sure you’re looking at him when you tell him everything you never did.

You die in his arms and you’ve never felt so comfortable and warm in all of your life. 

There’s a smile on your face when your soul leaves your body. 

You never see the way your brother breaks apart once you’re gone.

It’s very warm out and you’re waiting for someone and then you turn and your little brother is beside you on a bridge in summer and you’re smiling. He smiles back and pulls you into his arms.

You’re crying, but it’s alright now. You both know it’s the last time you’ll ever do it and suddenly your sobs transform into peals of laughter.

Nothing has ever been so perfect.

Well, this picture of Sam gave me no end of trouble! "A nice pose," I thought. "I'll do a quick sketch of that," I thought. No! Two scrumpled up attempts later, I resorted to willow charcoal, which is always my most natural medium, and (the big guns) turning the reference upside down and drawing the abstract shapes while smooshing the shadowy bits with my fingers. So, that was my process, and here's Sam, finally. And I like him, but he seems to have de-aged, down to about thirteen or so. Oh well, here's cute little Sammy, then.

Throughout its 15 seasons, Supernatural kept its exploration of relationships firmly rooted in platonic and familial love, and the series fi

For many television shows centered around evolving relationships, romance tends to be the default focus or endgame for leading characters with a heavy emphasis on happiness seemingly only stemming from romantic love. Within and outside of the screen, it often feels like the idea of contentment is limited to romantic relationships, which goes against two very real truths: You can be single and still be fulfilled and happy, and your most important relationships with others can absolutely be ones that exist outside of romance and/or sex.

I often get tired of the narrative that the point of life is to eventually wind up married and pumping out babies, as though my entire existence is limited to this one “goal” that is not nearly as universal as many in society have deemed. Why do people suggest that there is something lacking in people’s lives if they are not in a romantic or sexual relationship? Why is society conditioned to believe that the most important relationships lie only within the parameters of romance, especially when so many people’s platonic relationships are the ones that matter the most to them?

In a recent interview with Glamour, Jensen Ackles teased that the series finale ofSupernatural, an episode full of collaborative Easter eggs tracing back to the show’s beginnings and that is mainly focused on the relationship between Sam and Dean, “is this beautiful throwback to the whole show–to what it was, what it has been, and what it is today.” Throughout its 15 seasons,Supernatural kept its exploration of relationships firmly rooted in platonic and familial love, and the series finale paid tribute to how beautiful, powerful, and significant these types of relationships are as Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester’s (Ackles) story came to a close. Nothing against romance, of course, or the importance romantic love does obviously play in many people’s lives. But for those of us whose main connection with love stems from platonic or familial connections, or who at least recognize what makes non-romantic relationships special on their own, Supernatural’s dedication to telling a different kind of love story was refreshing and welcome from beginning to end.

love yourself despite it all. love yourself even when you said the wrong thing. when you messed up in class. when you got a grade you didn’t like. when you haven’t been outside in a week. accept yourself in spite of it all. accept yourself even if you didn’t get into the university you wanted. when you broke up with someone you thought you would stay with forever. when the guilt is eating you alive. when you feel like you can’t take it anymore. you are already whole, you are enough.

I am always tempted to carry a portable speaker and blare heavy metal or devotional music based on what they would be most annoyed by, making sure to be right next to them so they can't hear their stupid shit.

my unpopular opinion is that i hate tiktok because now people just publicly watch loud ass videos in public spaces with no regard for anyone else. 100% it was not this bad with youtube, it’s such a different thing with tiktok. put on headphones. you are grown.

I hope people eventually realize that ableism isn’t just being mean to a disabled person just because they’re disabled.

It’s the American government not allowing us to have over $2,000 at any given time without threatening to take away our only source of income. It’s still not having equal marriage opportunities, I cannot get married to my fiancée without my money being taken away. I bring in $750 a month from SSI. That’s not even enough for rent. (In case you didn’t know, $2,000 isn’t enough to live off of for a month, so to not be able to have it explains enough.)

Ableism is also taking away disabled parking and adding spaces reserved for cops. [That part is specifically aimed at Walmart.] Cops are abled, that’s how they can do their “job”. They’re even allowed to park at the very front of a building, they don’t need their own spaces.

Ableism is claiming a building is accessible when the “accessibility” features are broken or out of date, which can endanger mobility aid users.

Ableism is choosing to attack someone who doesn’t “look” disabled and shame them just because their disability/chronic illness is invisible; it is leaving notes on the cars that belong to disabled people who can walk, yet still need to park in the disabled parking space, that state that they’re “faking”, “going to hell”, or that they should be ashamed of themselves for “taking a spot from someone who actually needs it”. This includes the phrase, “But you don’t look disabled.”

Ableism is stopping autistic children from stimming, forcing kids with ADHD to sit still, infantilizing adults with down syndrome or other conditions because ableds assume that they don’t know what is going on around them.

Ableism is doctors not listening to their patients, the person who knows their body the best, due to medical racism, fatphobia, or misogyny.

Ableism is assuming every disabled person’s condition is the same, and that all treatments are a one size fits all; in reality, our treatment programs, the accommodations we need, which aren’t “special needs”, are all different and work with a case by case foundation.

Ableism is so much more than what the surface shows it to be. It’s not just treating people unfairly, it’s deliberately ignoring our basic needs for your comfort.

The hate being thrown at Jared is nauseating. Honest to God, disgusting, vile and truly upsetting. I KNOW there is a lot of animosity towards the royals, but there is ZERO excuse to heap hate and threats on someone for offering condolences.

You need to re-examine your lives. Seriously, people reveal themselves during times like these. People are celebrated online for being disgusting humans because… ya know… funny internet I do what I want energy.

I’m tired of online bullies who for SOME GOD FORSAKEN REASON keep getting validated by others because NO ONE wants to stand up to them. You’re not cute. You’re not edgy or funny. You’re pathetic. Jared’s deserves this because why? He was beIng a decent human being?? What kind of fucked up backwards world are we in that angry unstable people get more support then genuinely decent people?

I don’t think it’s possible for human beings to look more sheepish than the Winchesters after the siren incident.
