So about that ninjago writing post…

Um, take this trash I guess? Critique it if you must?? Idk this is my first time actually posting something I wrote online. I feel there’s a lot left to be desired, and I’m probably going to edit this a lot, but I was kind of rushing because my creative juices were flowing… and I’m tired, very tired. So enjoy!

Kai was fine. Better than fine, even. He had more energy, his powers were as strong as they could be; he was faster, harder, the most ferocious ninja there was. On par with Lloyd. He thought. Better even.

The others had no right to give him odd looks when he showed off his powers. They had no right to be worried when he scorched the ground around him in a fit of rage. They had no right to tell him to stay behind on a mission because he might ‘get ahead of himself’. He wasn’t angry, he wasn’t restless. It was their fault for not being able to keep up with him.

So when he was training that evening, and singed one of the dummies to a crisp, he could only smile. Same for the one after that, and the one after that. He could clean them up later, he was on a roll.

Even with just a wooden prop-sword he was making hard hits on the mimic, enough for it to start tearing. The roudy ninja fancied imagining them as whatever monster of the week they were fighting; it let him let go of his inhibitions, let him just go crazy. Batting a skulkin’s head like a baseball, skinning the scales off a serpentine, stabbing a nindroid straight through the hardware. People he hated, people to fuel his fire.

But those gleefully disturbed thoughts stopped when Lloyd flashed in front of him, smiling wide, his arms open as if to pull him into a hug.

Kai instinctively pulled the sword away, just in time to not slice the green ninja in half. The prop flew out of his hands and pierced into the wall.

He was ready to tear the kid a new one for interrupting his workout, only to look back and find him gone. There was just the dummy, now with a massive gash on its stuffed chest. Poor thing.

Odd, his fantasies never seemed that real, or were about his friends.

He jumped slightly at the sound of a knock behind him. Nya was leaning against the doorway.

“Oh, Nya! Hey.” He put on a nervous smile.

“Hey.” She glanced at the mess around them, but chose to ignore it. “You mind if I steal you for a minute? We need to talk.”

“Of course. What is it?”

“Well, I’d prefer if we were somewhere a bit more private.” She replied, beckoning him to follow. She seemed reluctant, but tried to hide it.

“Ok…” He followed her and prepared for the worst. He knew Nya like the back of his hand, he knew when she was upset. It made his more protective self go into overdrive. Was something wrong? Who hurt her? He was already set to torch whoever dared upset his sister.

They went into one of the rooms down the hall, the other ninja were waiting for them inside. There was an air of unease and awkwardness. The others had forced looks on their faces, the “we’re upset and trying really hard to hide it” kind of looks.

“Uh, hi guys…” Kai faked a smiled, Nya took his hand to keep him from leaving.

Lloyd spoke up first. “Kai, we need to talk.”

He awkwardly tried to break the tension. “Hey, if it’s about the training dummies, I’ll pay for more. Don’t sweat it.”

“It’s not that…”

“You haven’t been acting like yourself lately. It worries us.” Zane added.

“What are you talking about?”

Jay chimed in, a bit nervous. “You know, all the outbursts and the burning things and the anger? You’ve been all weird and, you know-”

“A hothead, more than usual.” Cole finished.

Kai let it sink in for a moment. He’d normally laugh something like this off, but it hit him a little too hard.

“We just want to know what’s wrong.” Lloyd tried to be reassuring, putting his hand on the fire ninja’s shoulder. “We’re here for you.”

He couldn’t tell why, but hearing that made something in Kai shift. Anger hidden for so long started bubbling up. He didn’t need this, especially from Lloyd.

He brushed his hand away. “Nothing is wrong! And even if there was I wouldn’t want to come crying to you!”

“No one’s saying you are, we’re all just trying to help!” Lloyd quickly backpedaled.

“I don’t need help!” He pushed him back.

Cole wedged himself between them. “Hey! That’s enough!”

“Especially from you! Always acting like you’re above everyone else, when you’re just a spoiled brat!”

“Kai, stop it!” Nya grabbed his arm, but jolted back in the same way one would from touching a hot stove. His skin, it was burning.

Lloyd tried to keep a gentle tone. “Kai-”

He shoved Cole aside. “No! I’m tired of having to deal with you! I’m tired of watching you flaunt around what should’ve been mine!”

Before he knew it Lloyd was on the ground. His whole face was burning. The world was blurry and muffled as Jay rushed to his aid, gasping something he couldn’t hear.

He squinted through his tears, seeing Cole and Zane actively trying and failing to restrain Kai. He brought his hand to his face, feeling a deep burn mark on his cheek.

Kai punched him.

“Kai, snap out of it!” Zane grappled him into his arms, trying not to hurt him.

“Let go of me!” He jerked himself away just in time to spew something out of his mouth. It landed on the floor between the three, bubbling and hot, it started sinking into the floor.

Kai started coughing and hacking. An intense heat coursed through his veins, like his insides were on fire. A hot liquid leaked out of his eyes like tears, burned his throat and nose. His heart raced. What was happening? What is this? His head. It felt like it was splitting in two.

Zane reached out again; whether to restrain him or comfort him, it didn’t matter now. The fire ninja lunged at him, sending him to the ground and burning off most of the front of is ninja uniform.

Nya and Cole tried to get him off but he shoved them both away, throwing Cole into a counter and Nya into the wall.

Before she could shake off the disorientation she heard Kai’s voice.

“Nya…” It sounded distorted, wrong.

A hand grabbed her arm, it was boiling hot. She looked up to see Kai on the verge of collapsing, a viscous magma dripping out of his mouth. The tips of his hair were starting to singe. His veins seemed to squirm under his skin. There was fear in his eyes.

“Please…” He gasped, it was agonizing to speak. “Help me…!”

She could do nothing but watch. Her brother was burning to pieces right in front of her and she could do nothing.

“Help me!” There was anger and confusion this time. Why wasn’t she doing anything? Help. Please. She was his sister. He didn’t know what was happening to him. Do something, anything!

He gripped tighter on her arm; she whimpered in pain.

She choked. “I’m sorry! I don’t know how!”

“Get away from her!”

A flash of lightning separated them. Next thing Nya knew Cole was already swooping her off the ground to safety, Jay wielding his nunchucks to protect them both as Kai held his face in pain. There were flames sparking around him, finally exploding into a wall of fire. His clothes were already burning away. He glared back in rage, his eyes glowing.

“That hurt.” Fire flared around his fists.

“Oh jeez-“ Jay realized his mistake a moment too late. “Hey buddy, I didn’t mean it!”

The fire ninja lunged. Before he could land a hit a blast of ice formed between them, Zane pulled Jay back and prepared for another attack. Kai screamed from pain. He was melting. His skin giving way to formless magma, his hair becoming charred embers of what it used to be. The ninja could only watch as their friend shriveled up into a monster.

“It hurts, it hurts…” He played like a broken record, flinching away from the ice.

“Kai…?” Lloyd tried to take one last step towards him.

“NO! STAY AWAY!”

He panicked akin to a wild animal, burning a hole in the wall and escaping into the night. The others were left with the smoldering rubble, and puddles of lava.

Jay whimpered. “What the hell…”

Wojtek [Tarzan] Michalewski - hipis (nawet kurwa nie wiem kiedy zszedł na zawsze), chłopak z krakowskiego Salwatoru, człowiek, który z gęby nie robił cholewy – jak postanowił być hipisem – to był w tym konsekwentny. Człowiek „drogi”, ćpuń, który uważał się za Maga, a w swoim czasie uważało tak o nim wielu hipisopodobnych. Poeta i pisarz – napisał znakomitą rzecz o polskim hipisiarstwie „Mistycy i narkomani” (niemal autobiografia – postacie tam występujące nie są fikcyjne, choć część z nich występuje pod zmienionymi ksywkami), napisał też podobno powieść o magii Wikingów (póki co - zaginiona po Jego śmierci), autor wielu wierszy hipisiarskich, które jako ciekawostka pojawiały się w różnych periodykach literackich. Na początku lat osiemdziesiątych chłopaki z Ruchu rzeźbili coś z hipisiarskim pismem trzeciobiegowym pt. „Droga”. Sprzedawali to wprost z ulicy (tu ukłony dla mieszkańców monciaka w Sopocie), dopóty, dopóki pałą od milicjanta nie zaliczyli i trza sie było zwijać - niedaleko wprawdzie - przecież obok camping Sopot-Kamienna.. Miałem szczęście wtedy Go poznać – świr jakich mało, ale złoty człowiek… Wydawało Mu się, że pokonał nałóg heroinonowy – działał nawet w krakowskim Monarze – cóż - life is brutal..tym razem - nie udało się… *** Żyję w krainie ślepców  I sam tak często cierpię na ślepotę  Przejrzyjcie ludzie! Want to show your love for Ninjago while also teaming up with others in the fandom? Now you can! We are pleased to announce that the Ninjago zine is back for a second volume!! 

What is a zine?

A zine is an event where artists and writers come together in a fandom to create works in honor of a show/movie/book/etc. In this case, we are creating a fan zine based off the animated series, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu!

Vol. 2— What’s New?

In this volume we’ll be celebrating the many stories of the Ninjago universe.  The zine will contain a section for each season of Ninjago, from the pilot episodes through season 10, and each section will contain a handful of pieces that revolve around its specified season

How does this work?

-This is a Ninjago themed zine that will be a FREE, PDF download upon its release.

-We are looking to have between 50-60 content creators. However, if the zine gains popularity, this number will likely change.

-This is zine is Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu centric- meaning all the content will be will be based off the television series, and not the movie. As is the case, there will be no romantic ships outside of what is canon within the show (as we would like to keep this as discourse-free as possible).

-Also, since Ninjago is a children’s series, the zine will be SFW (Rated PG). Meaning, nothing outside the show’s scope of content will be allowed in this zine.

Application Requirements

Artists, writers, and cosplayers are to submit works that are SFW (if someone submits anything NSFW, they will be disqualified)

Artists are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their style. Examples do not have to be Ninjago related.

Writers are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their writing style and characterization. At least one example must be Ninjago related.

Cosplayers are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their photography skills and costume design. At least one example must be Ninjago related.

Schedule

May 11th: Applications open

June 2th: Applications close

June 8-9th:  Acceptance/Rejection emails go out

June 10th: Participants announced

June 24th: Check-in 1

July 15th: Check-in 2

August 12th: Check-in 3

September 2nd: Check-in 4 (soft deadline)

September 9th: Final submissions due (Hard deadline)

Ok new idea for my evil Kai au

Still not sure through by what means it happens, but all the ninja can eventually transform like Kai(and change back, which Kai can’t). They’re unstable, but learn to control it enough to fight him on an equal playing field.

Cole:

The most defensive. Fire doesn’t effect him, so he can just hold his ground until the right moment to strike

The second most stable one. He gets easily frustrated and violent, but manages to keep a level head most of the time because he knows others need him

Probably keeps Jay from going rouge at some point by just hugging him until he calms downs (electric types are ineffective against rock types, you know)

A lot more stoic and heroic then his normal self. He he often acts as a human shield for citizens or weakened allies

Jay:

Jittery and nervous, constantly needs to be moving. It’s hard for him to focus and easy to forget what he’s doing. If Kai didn’t openly try to attack him he’d probably go crazy too and join him

Loses energy quickly. Without a constant source of food he’ll burn out after just a day or two

Like Kai he doesn’t need to eat actual food, pure electricity gives him the most energy. He still enjoys eating though

Gurellia fighter. He’s best when used as a distraction rather then a combatant

Zane:

Thanks to being a robot, it takes a lot more for him to lose himself to his element. When Lloyd isn’t around he acts as a surrogate leader

He’s still affected by it though. He’s a lot more authoritative, and doesn’t take no as an answer. When he’s upset ice starts to form around him (kinda like Elsa)

At some point, after the umpteenth time trying to talk Kai down peacefully, he forms a dome of ice around them and tries to freeze him into submission. He snaps out of it when Kai begs him to stop because the cold will kill him, only for Kai to burn him and escape

Nya:

She has polarizing mood swings, but manages them out of a feeling of responsibility to help the others

She can’t be in very cold or hot climates. She’ll start to either freeze or evaporate if there for too long

She’s nearly killed Kai. During a fight she launched a wave at him and kept him underwater until his heat evaporated it. He was almost dead and had to be saved by Pythor. She felt so guilty that she now only uses her powers on him as a last resort

Like Kai she can slip through tight spaces easily, and can take a lot of damage before actually getting hurt

Zane sure is enjoying removing Jay’s metal thing on his mouth
