In an incredible turn of events, the bird buddy captured two birds at two different feeders! The male cardinal giving a knowing look to the camera while the blue jay eats in the background is pure gold! The video also shows the blue jay coming back for more snacks after the cardinal leaves.
Snacks on snacks!
I moved the bird buddy back and added in a platform feeder and a corn cob chair feeder in front of the camera. Fingers crossed for even more bird pics.
Nothing like a three bird visit video from the bird buddy!
More of the local fauna at the North Sebastian Conservation Area on 2/18/23: a gopher tortoise right off the trail, an alligator sunning in the canal just outside the parking lot, scrub jays of course and the causal skydivers parachuting into the neighboring Sebastian airport.
A wonderful time seeing Florida scrub jays at the North Sebastian Conservation Area on Saturday. Such a hidden gem, right off Main Street in town. There were tons of scrub jays all throughout the trails, a really lovely place.
An almost off-camera appearance of the male cardinal this afternoon. It also looks like the camera has rotated some, hopefully the squirrels are staying out of the feeder!
A bird buddy twofer! The video starts with a blue jay and then a male cardinal shows up later.
Views from a lovely, if a bit windy, day at the Orlando wetlands park yesterday.
Another visit from the male cardinal. I’m not sure if it’s a sign that spring is coming or just the way the light was hitting him, but he’s so vibrant!
Good morning from the bird buddy! The female cardinal is back and hungry this Monday morning.
Coming in hot! The videos don’t always capture the bird flying into the feeder so this was a nice surprise!
The female painted bunting is back today, waiting out the rain on the bird buddy. I’d never seen a painted bunting before yesterday and now we’ve had so many sightings!
The last photo makes me think the female cardinal is starting to figure out there’s a camera in the bird feeder.
Another lovely surprise at the bird buddy this morning, a male painted bunting!
Finishing the day with a male cardinal at the bird buddy. Tons of activity today, so nice to see so many birds!
Immediately after the painted bunting left, a blue jay showed up at the bird buddy. Such a size and color difference!
New bird alert! A female painted bunting stopped by this morning. I almost didn’t believe it wasn’t a cardinal based on how often they visit the feeder.
It wouldn’t be a good morning without a visit from the pair of cardinals at the bird buddy. There’s a bit of a pause after the male leaves before the female shows up today.
Another twofer visit to the bird buddy today! Starting with a female northern cardinal and then a male.
Even more friendly scrub jays! 1/16/23 at the Cruickshank Sanctuary in Rockledge, FL. The birds would wait until you’d stood still a moment and then happily land on your head until they were ready to move on. Such a cool experience.
The friendliest little scrub jay pals!

A two part video visit from a male northern cardinal this morning on the bird buddy.
