she had never known why her soulmate felt the need to draw all over his arms. in sharpie, for that matter, too. half the time, they weren’t evening drawings or doodles - they were literal conversations with other people.

but, sometimes after a hard day it was almost as though her soulmate knew she was struggling. whenever waking up the morning after a rough day, her soulmate left small notes of encouragement - which was honestly all they could do.

because to find your soulmate, you couldn’t just write on your skin where to meet or else even if you wrote in black sharpie, the ink would not appear.

all you could do was let fate decide.

she had woken up one morning with a small drawn out array of stars on her right wrist, the rest of her arms had been sharpie-free for the last few weeks and it had her worried because normally her soulmate couldn’t go a day without doodling on his arms - but the mini galaxy on her wrist was a beacon of sorts to let her know they were okay and she knew it.

she carried on with her day, not thinking anything more about the stars. but she couldn’t stop herself from gazing at the doodles on her wrist as she sat at the front desk of the vinyl store she worked at - with it being a weekday, it was an extremely quiet day in the shop for her.

of course, she kept an eye out for the door in case a customer came in even if it was just to look - especially since her boss left to venture out on her lunch break.

her curious eyes flickered towards the door when the bell rung - signifying that somebody had walked in. she took in his features, he had purple hair with a sweater that he tugged on the sleeves anxiously as he looked around.

he felt all too familar - and homely too. which had stroke curiosity in her because after living in this small town for years she knew he wasn’t from here.

“looking for something specific?” she asks in a hushed, sweet tone as she made her way towards the purple haired boy - who’s eyes widened with mixed emotions when their eyes met.

“not really, i just wanted to take a look at the town.” he shrugged, dragging his fingertip along the individual titles of the dozens of vinyls.

the both of them went silent for a moment, he had always checked to see if any girl he came across was his soulmate based on the doodles.

his heart nearly stopped when he recognized the sea of stars on her wrist, looking back up at her with a grin playing on his lips.

“you’re my galaxy?”
