sypnosisïčafter a few months of dating, you find out you were just a bet.
part two (tba!)
â LEE HEESEUNG (wc 0.3k)
you and lee heeseung has been dating for a total of five months, and throughout those months you can confidently say that you were the happiest. he was the perfect boyfriend, his family loved you and so did yours.
today, heeseung promised he would take you on a date after his basketball practice despite your protests on how he should be resting instead. you wouldn't have agreed if it weren't for the fact that he had shot you with his pleading big doe eyes that never fails to make you agree on whatever he asks for.Â
so here you were, making your way towards the gymnasium with your bag hanging on your left shoulder. the lack of dribbling and smacking basketball noise from behind the closed doors told you that their practice was done.
entering quietly out of habit, you were about to approach your boyfriend when you overheard his teammates talking to him.
"don't tell me you're still with her?" asked one of boys, an amused smile on his face. heeseung only raised a brow.
"what? you won the bet, you can dump her now. you're ruining our image you know? plus she's a total nerd and loser, you're much better with someone like yunhee." and with only just a few words, you felt your world crashing down.
right, who would date someone like you? you always found it weird, that heeseung just approached you one day in your biology class with the cheekiest smile on his face. the fact that he wouldn't leave you alone until you've agreed to go on a date with him. it all made sense now, why the popular basketball captain suddenly gained interest on the school's "biggest nerd."
"speaking of.." another guy spoke, nodding towards you with a cheeky smile. heeseung turned around only to be met with your glassy eyes.
you didn't move, wanting to hear him defend you. wanting to tell his teammates that you weren't a bet and he actually liked you throughout the months you two have been dating.
his silence said everything and with that you turned away and ran out of the gym.
"shit." he muttered, running after you.
â PARK JONGSEONG (wc 0.3k)
"i'll pick you up later, okay?" your boyfriend of almost a year said softly through the phone. you've been dating jay since the first week of your first year in uni, others found your relationship weird. maybe because back in high school, jay never and refused to even spare you a glance. he was an asshole who looked at you as if you were the epitome of disgusting.
but the past is in the past now, right?
"okay baby, see you." you reply and put your phone down on your table, knowing that he's usually the one who ends the call.
you go back to the papers scattered on your table. the silence in your room was disturbed by sudden noises in your phone, turning to look, you see that jay hasn't ended the call.
picking your phone up with a smile, you were about to call out for him but a voice stopped you.
"i can't believe you've gone this far dude." you recognized the slightly muffled voice, it was a friend of jongseong's.
"what do you mean?" your boyfriend grumbled. the audio was muffled, you figured he was moving and the phone was in his pocket.
"you're still dating her!" the voice exclaimed, as if amused. "seriously, i didn't think you'd take that bet seriously. fine you win, i'll clean your car for a month. but you've gotta cut it out, you're starting to disgust me." the boy laughed.
before you could hear what your boyfriend would say, you ended the call. your hand was trembling and tears were falling from your eyes unconsciously.
were all those months just a joke to him? were your feelings really worth a free car wash for just a month? were you that unworthy?
jay was an asshole back in high school, you thought he changed. turns out he didn't, you felt like a fool for falling for his antics.
â SIM JAEYUN (wc 0.3k)
if someone would be asked who you were, they'd all say the same thing. a loner, pathetic loser, and a nobody with a pretty face.
because what was a pretty face if you had no friends and a social life?
you almost believed you would die alone, you were too socially awkward to make friends. so when sim jaeyun, the transferee, approached you with a warm smile and a hand outstretched for a shake, you were beyond shocked.
your relationship went from being block mates, friends, then next thing you knew you two were dating. at first you were reluctant to enter a relationship, scared that it would ruin your friendship, but he insisted you both tried. that was three months ago.
you didn't have any friends, but atleast you had jake.
jake who smiles at you as if you had carved the stars in your hands. jake who would never forget to bring your coffee every morning. he was everything you ever needed. he was it for you, you only hoped he felt the same towards you.
walking through the hallway of the school, you stopped infront of your locker only to be met with a sticky note on it.
HOW LONG CAN JAKE LAST WITH LOSER L/N?
A WEEK : ć - ć - ć - ć - III
FIVE MONTHS : ć - I
A YEAR : II
Furrowing your brows, you stare at the note as your breathing grew heavy. It was obvious that the paper was old, it had folds and it was only stuck on your locker with a washi tape.
"what are you doing l/n? go on, cast your vote." a mocking voice said from beside you followed by a bunch of laughter. "personally, i thought he'd last a day. i guess i'll vote for five months then." then the hand went and tallied on the five months category.
"what's going on here?" upon hearing your boyfriend's voice, you fled away immediately, not wanting to face him. everytime something good happens in your life, it's always ripped away from you. jake was just like them, you were just a toy for their own entertainment.
â PARK SUNGHOON (wc 0.5k)
"i'm sorry baby, i really am busy with practice tomorrow." your boyfriend, sunghoon, says in genuine sorry. it was the fifth time you have asked him to meet your parents, who also by the way was so desperate to meet the boy you've been dating for seven months now.
every time you ask him, he's always busy. either with practice, a project, a family matter, or whatever excuse he can come up with. but you always brush it off, knowing he means well and he really is busy as he's an athlete student.
"i'll meet them next week, okay? i promise." that's also the same thing he says everytime too, and once again, you only nod in response.
you and sunghoon met in a physics class. he was clutching his head with a frown on his face as he desperately tried to understand what the professor was going on about.
you remember clearly the way he approached you in the library, a physics book on his left hand as his right scratched his nape. "can.. i noticed- uh, can you help me with this topic?"
that was where your relationship started. you tutored him and helped him improve his grade. when he got an A on the finals, he kissed you on the lips in glee. he was taken aback by his own actions but nevertheless asked you out after.
"i love you," he whispers, pressing a kiss on your temple. "let me get something from my room." you hum in response as he takes his arm that was previously wrapped around you before going up to his room.
you can't help but notice the way his phone was blowing up from beside you.
you weren't the type to snoop around other people's phones, especially your boyfriend. it just felt wrong, you trusted him fully. but the way it kept ringing with text notifications, you just couldn't help it.
looking back to the stairs, you note he isn't back and there was still rummaging noises from his room.
taking his phone, you enter his passcode and read the messages from one of his group chats.
JONGSU
lol don't tell me she asked again.. em ba rrah sing
DAEHYUN
hahah when is she gonna take a hint?? đ
JOON
you gonna blame her? hoon's been at it for months lmao
DAEHYUN
i actually can't believe he went that far, wasn't it only supposed to be for a month? đż
JONGSU
a week actually, but ig that bitch y/n was so easy. yk hoon likes to get his ego fed đđ
putting the phone down, you exhaled in disbelief. you took your bag from the floor and threw it over your shoulder and went to the door of his apartment to put your shoes back on.
"baby?" sunghoon emerged from the stairs, looking at you curiously. "you're going already?" he asked, extending an arm towards you but you slapped it away. the tears on your eyes shocking him.
"hey, hey what's wrong?" he tried again but his hand was yet again slapped away.
"i don't want to see you ever again." was the last words you uttered to him (shakily) before leaving his apartment.

Abstract: As you had foreseen, Sunghoon and you were back to being strangers. While it was all you had initially wished for, the suddenness and extremity of it was gnawing you from inside as it made you feel as if the past few months had been nothing âthat you, too, were in fact nothing. All the while, cases around town continued to rise and in tandem, your recurring night terrors intensified, increasingly blurring the lines between dreams, memories and reality. In the midst of it all, you realised that happenings around town and around you did not add up. The more you dig however, the more you realised how close real danger had always been. How deeply entangled you actually were in the whole web with Sunghoon seemingly being connected to. But is he merely connected to it or has he been the one spinning the web intricately all these while?  ⣠[ do check out Part 1 first ]

i : back to square one
To say that the past few months had been a whirlwind would be an understatement. With the amount of unprecedented things happening around you and to you, it all felt kind of like a fever dream. It didnât help that since youâve submitted your assignment, Park Sunghoon, the campus heartthrob who somehow couldnât leave you alone even for a second last semester, has suddenly gone cold on you. Let alone just simply greeting you, he had never even casted you a single glance since the last day you guys worked together. In fact, you could be right in front of him or beside him and his eyes and attention would just always be on anyone and anywhere but you. While you had foreseen this, even being the one to have told him that the assignment was the only thing binding you two together, the way it all shifted just overnight made it impossible to quell the distaste you feel within â that you were used. That all those months, labouring over the assignment, sharing jokes and stories, were nothing â that you were nothing.Â
And just like that, you guys were strangers again.
âAre you sure nothing happened that night?â Sunoo elbowed you, bringing you back to reality. Deja vu, you thought, remembering how Sunoo had asked a similar question just months ago when Sunghoon started pestering you. You were going to answer him but got immediately distracted by whatever he was shooting daggers at. You followed his gaze, regretting it almost immediately, as you saw that it was at Sunghoon and his little clique who were walking from the opposite direction. As usual, while the rest of the clique were being rowdy and playful with one another, Sunghoon, at the back, stayed unperturbed, hands in his pockets, eyes straight ahead â always looking so disengaged and aloof. You donât even have to worry about him catching you staring because he wouldnât. It is literally as if you had turned invisible since your last day together.
"What a prick," Sunoo scoffed, somehow feeling victimised on behalf of you as Sunghoon just passed you by without as much as a glance, âSomething must have happened to have turned him so cold all of a sudden y/n â I mean he canât just shift like that overnight. Did you not remember the way he stared at you before this so-called Cold War happen? it was disgustingly dripping with attraction and obsession, youâd have to be blind to miss it. Seriously, tell me the truth, did you guys fight or disagree orââ
âSunoo, first things first. He was never obsessed with me. You were the one making that assumption. While we did work well together, at best we were just groupmates â not even friends probably. So it makes sense for it all to just revert to square one now that the assignment is over,â you sighed exasperatedly as you pressed the button of the elevator in front of you, âand for the umpteenth time Sunoo, no, nothing happened.â
At least thatâs what I think, you thought to yourself as you reminisced about that night you last worked with Sunghoon together. You remembered working until dawn with him. You remembered leaning back against his sofa. You remembered him staring. You remembered packing up. Then you remembered waking up in your own bed, apparently having chronically overslept. You couldnât exactly remember how you got home though, to be honest. You remembered snippets of it â city lights, sound of cars passing by, the sound of the door, certain warmth and pressure â but it was all a blur. When you woke up, you felt so lightheaded and groggy with your body aching and sore in some places. Then there was this unexplained level of hunger which made you dawn a whole 16â box of pizza to yourself that day â it was as if you had been fasting for days.
The ache eventually subsided and your appetite eventually returned to normal but now and then, you'd get dizzy spells. To make matters weirder, when you went for blood donation not long after, the Nurse deemed you ineligible as a donor as your Haemoglobin count was abnormally low â a drop that was quite alarming given how you have never had such histories and considering how you have not donated nor lost massive amounts of blood recently. It was all very weird but in the absence of any rational explanations, you attempted to make sense of it all by attributing it to how bad your sleeping and dietary habits have become weeks following up to the deadline as you only fuelled yourself daily with 2-hours of sleep and an inordinate amount of coffee.
Then of course there was Park Sunghoon, who went from suddenly having perfect attendance during the last semester to suddenly missing most of his classes this semester. During the few times when you do see him on campus grounds, his attention would always be on anywhere and anyone but you. It eventually got pretty obvious to you that with the assignment submitted, whatever you two had, if it was even worth labelling as friendship, must have ended with it.
âAre you going to just stand there?â Sunoo snapped his fingers, bringing you back to reality, as he continued pressing the elevator button to keep the door open.
âRight sorry, I was justâ"
âSpacing out?â he cut you mid-sentence, "you have been spacing out a little bit too much lately, do you know that?"
"This semester's schedule is pretty crazy, I'm probably still trying to acclimatise to it," you lied, plastering a smile when Sunoo suddenly took out a yellow file from his bag, beckoning you to take it. It has the word 'CONFIDENTIAL' stamped across the cover. Absentmindedly, you flipped it open, almost cussing out loudly as grisly shots of dead bodies greeted you, âSunoo, what the f-â you glared at him beside you, shutting the file close almost immediately when the elevator door opened to the 7th floor of the library.
âRight sorry, should've warned you beforehand ââ Sunoo smiled sheepishly, "theyâre some shots of the latest victims of our townâs serial killings â hey, stop glaring at me, I didnât steal them from somewhere â I just, you know happen to beat the police to itââ
âHappened to be?â you stressed, eyeing him suspiciously.
âFine,â Sunoo grunted, âthat genius Ni-Ki somehow managed to intercept the police radio station so we receive all these reports at the same time as the police and well, lucky for us, since they are massively incompetent in responding in a timely manner, we got the privilege of seeing the body and the place first before they do. Weâre not that stupid though â of course we kept our distance. Otherwise, weâd be mistaken as suspects instead.âÂ
âYou look and sound inappropriately ecstatic about something so grim,â you grumbled, finally opening the file again, grimacing at the grisly shots, âArenât you two being too serious about this? I mean, the press and the police are already on it, why meddle further? I get the curiousity but isn't this too much effort and risk?"
âWell, I happen to be serious about getting that scholarship to New York and this, oh boy, this piece, would just throw everyone else's applications down the drain," Sunoo enthused, "and well as for Ni-Ki, that boy loves danger and adventure, he wouldnât even care about the risks.â
You shook your head dismissively as you flipped through the pages, âbut didnât you say the bodies were drained of blood last time? These are all pretty bloodied. Do you think they might have been done by a different perpetrator?â
Sunoo stopped pacing around and hurried over, peeking over your shoulders, "oh yeah, I almost forgot about that report-"
âOr they could be the same killer actually, just changing up his tactics to throw the police off the trails...â you suggested, seeing Sunooâs forehead scrunching in deep thoughts as he pored over the idea. You continued, âor a badly-done copycat killingââ
âOh shit,â Sunoo gasped, snatching the pictures from you, âYou are so smart, I didnât even â I should make a proper timeline, connecting coroner's reports and pictures, maybeââ
âDonât get too excited though. Iâm no criminal profiler, I could be completely offâ hey!â you yelped, rubbing your cheek in disgust as Sunoo had just absentmindedly planted a kiss on your cheek.
âSunoo, stop that! people will get the wrong ideaââ you grumbled, trailing off as you looked around the library cautiously. You stopped short when you noticed how, in the midst of people being busy in their own world, someone just across the floor, by the railings overlooking the atrium, was staring right at you. Hands against the railings with gaze so intense, unflinching and unnerving, it was Park Sunghoon. You realised that this had been the first time he had given you any slightest attention since you guys had submitted your work. You scoffed then, remembering all the times he could've been cordial to you before but instead chose to act as if you never existed. You broke the eye contact, walking away towards the side of the floor which would have been out of his field of vision, thinking to yourself, "well, two can play the game."
ii : nightly terrors
It was just supposed to be a quick power nap â one to quench your exhaustion and also to kill time as you wait for Sunoo to finish transcribing his interviews. As your mind flitted through a series of vivid hypnogogic hallucinations however, it all gradually warp into a familiar foreboding scene: a long dark hallway â eerily quiet and hauntingly cold, both ends of which just seemingly leading to a dark abyss. Every time you see this exact scene materialising in your dreams, you were hit with a wave of familiarity â as if youâve seen the place, as if youâve been in it. But never could you dwell longer on it because within seconds, youâd always find yourself sprinting towards the darkness, fumbling clumsily to open the door that apparently lay at the end of it, only for it to be slammed close the moment you succeed.
You would then feel yourself harshly spun around, your back slammed against the door. You swallowed thickly as the dark figure loom closer before you, knowing full well what would happen next and bracing yourself for the fate. It was after all the same nightmare that has been plaguing you on most nights since a few weeks ago. Despite the recurrence however, the feeling of terror and dread never subsided â striking you anew each time as you helplessly and passively relive each one of them. You realised however, something was different this time.
For starters, you realised you could feel: the pain on your back, the fabric of the man's sleeves under your grasp, his sharp nails digging onto the skin of your arm â you could feel them all. Then, as you furl and unfurl your fingers as you willed, you were hit by the realisation that unlike in the previous nightmares where you had no control over your body, this time, you were awake â you were lucid.
You wasted no time then, attempting to spin the nightmare around this time. Staring back up boldly at the figure in front of you, you grabbed a fistful of his collar, pulling his face closer to you, "you... I know you don't I?â. You werenât exactly sure why you said that to him but as the moonlight that had streamed through a nearby window casted a slight glow on the lower part of his face, you realised that that man might really be someone you were familiar with â the paleness, the angular jaw, the plump rosy lips â you had seen it before. Suddenly the smirk on his face widened into a toothy grin, his tongue making a quick swipe across his teeth â the canines of which were abnormally elongated and sharp, they looked almost like fangs.
The next thing you knew he had dipped his head onto the crook of your neck, paralysing you with the vividness of it all: his lips ghosting over your bare neck, his tongue gliding over a particular spot, followed by, you winced, a prick of pain at the exact same spot. Suddenly, the ability to feel felt more like a curse, as you feel him sucking on your neck. While you already expected the move, it had always been painless and sensationless â so with the ability to feel taking the vividness of the dream to new heights, you found real panic and terror rising within you. You lifted your hand and as expected, blood had trickled down your arm but you didnât expect that it had been dripping down onto the ground, pooling by your feet. You gasped, feeling truly aghast and terrified for your life. You begin thrashing wildly against him, hitting, pushing and screaming for him to get off of you, but alas he was stronger and with every effort and strength you take, the weaker you grew.
You feel yourself slowly giving up when you started hearing someone calling your name faintly, "y/n... y/n!"
The voice grew louder and with each calls, you feel increasingly disconnected from your body with the scene before you slowly getting hazy and blurry.Â
âY/N!â
You suddenly jolted awake, gasping and disoriented as the scene moments ago crumbled into something else. Instead of the faceless tall man from moments ago, you found yourself being held by Sunoo. His brows were furrowed in a mixture of worry and fear, his hands tightly grabbing onto your wrists as if trying to restrain you, âY/N! Are you alright???!â
âI- uhâ you croaked as you looked around the room, trying to acclimatised to the environment and confirm that this is indeed the reality, not whatever bloody terror you had just witnessed earlier.Â
âYou were screaming and I tried to wake you up but instead you just thrashed around, almost hitting me and I just had to hold you down like thisâ" he rambled as he loosened his grip and held your face up, as if to further confirm if you were okay. You mustered a weak smile as you started to calm down a little bit, âIâm sorry. It was a nightmare. Iâm fine⊠itâs just â just a nightmare.â
You lied. You did not feel fine at all and it was not just a nightmare â not when it had been plaguing you almost every night since weeks ago, never ceasing to strike so much dread and terror despite the repetitions. You realised that they had gotten increasingly more detailed and vivid as of late â often revealing something new each time but never had you been awake and lucid in it as you just had. It all felt so real â as if it had been a memory that you unlocked, replayed and relived â rather than just some a trickery of the mind once one falls asleep.
âBut, Iâve never seen you soâ"
âHey, itâs just a nightmare⊠I'm okay, really...â you reassured him, though it kind of felt as if you were trying to reassure yourself too, "I'll just get myself some water. Go continue with your work Sunoo..."
You got up, groggily making your way to the pantry near the big board. As you were dawning a glass of water, your eyes darted cautiously across the clippings of the serial killer news on Sunooâs cork board, wondering if all the morbidity you have exposed yourself to almost on the daily had wormed themselves deep inside your brain that they end up seeping into your dreams as well. Probably the only plausible explanation, you reasoned with yourself when your eyes keep on zeroing in onto the odd marks on the neck of the victims. In the midst of all the cuts and gashes, some of the bodies featured odd puncture wounds: some double, some single. Like a snakebite or something.Â
Subconsciously, your finger had travelled up to your neck, grazing a spot where a cut had mysteriously appeared just a few weeks ago. You realised just then that it was around the same spot where that man in your dream had punctured, or rather, bitten into. You winced at the memory, still somehow able to feel the pain despite the fact that it had happened in a dream.
The first time you noticed the cut was the day after the assignment deadline as you were rushing to get ready after having overslept. When you first saw it, it was still red â indicating that it was likely not even 1-2 days old â and about 8 cm long. You remembered being weirded out as you could not remember nor imagined how you could ever accidentally hurt yourself on such a spot, in a such a way. On the elbow or on the knee? sure. But on the crook of your neck? debatable. The more you assessed the cut in the following days however, the more you noticed something odd about it. The cut somehow slightly curved outwards at two points, as if it had run over another wound. Eventually you got busier and forgot about the cut altogether.
Tonight however, you found yourself thinking about the cut again, which by now had fully healed fading closer to the colour of your skin, as you looked at each of the pictures before you, trying to scrutinise the injuries on their neck. Suddenly Sunoo snatched the pictures off the board, âalright, no more dead bodies for you y/n. It was my fault â I didn't even consider how you feel. Perhaps its been too much for you and ââ
But you weren't listening anymore. You just watched silently, your mind on overdrive, your finger still rubbing the scar on your neck. âWait,â you finally said something, grabbing Sunooâs hand to stop him, âdo you have clearer pictures⊠of the neck perhaps?â
âWell, Ni-Ki is developing the rest so there should be someâ" Sunoo mumbled when the door opened.
âNi-Ki!â you called out, as he emerged out of the photo studio, asking if he has any other pictures. He nodded excitedly as he handed you the bundle of pictures. You grabbed a few clearer ones, trying to confirm your allegations.Â
âGuys⊠what ifâŠ-â you mumbled, âI mean, I dont know for sure, these pictures aren't the clearest but... if you look at the neck, some of them have what looked like puncture wounds â some had like two punctures, just like a snakebite, though some only had one. But,â you continued, pushing some of the pictures forward, âwherever thereâs only one, there is always another cut either above or under and look over here, wherever there's none, the necks are mostly covered by frenzied slash woundsââ you swallowed thickly, reminded of your own scar, the possible wound underneath, and the dream, "I mean it could just be nothing... but I can't help but think that what if, what if, the haphazard wounds over the neck is meant to mask the puncture wounds?â
"Okay," Ni-ki scrunched his brows as he considered the possibilities, "but why though?"
"Beats me," you shrugged, sinking onto a nearby stool, "it's just the few common denominators that seem to stick to me. Maybe it's the real weapon? Not sure what kind of tool would have inflicted those kind of wounds thoughâ"
"No you're actually right," Sunoo nodded, rubbing his chin as he pored over all the reports of past serial killings that he had read and researched on, "with that kind of mark, it might have been easier for the police to track the killer through the weapon so maybe his game plan was actually to cover it up hence why most of the bodies have slash wounds haphazardly inflicted around their neck. And then perhaps due to timing, carelessness or just pure laziness, he would end up slashing less than usual, making the puncture mark visible on some of the bodies."
"Do you think it could be a syringe or something? maybe to poison or incapacitate them beforehand," Ni-ki wondered aloud, "or I don't know a modified bat with nails at the endâ"
"Wait, since y/n mentioned that it kind of looked like a snakebite... what if it isn't a weapon?" Sunoo gasped, gesticulating wildly, "what if it's actually a snake? like maybe the killer, being sick enough in the head, unleashed a snake on the victims first to torture them or something before â"
"What are the odds of a snake biting someone at the same exact spot though?" Ni-ki raised his brows.
"You're right," Sunoo pondered, "unless they put a bait on that exact spot â wait, what if..." he gulped, lowering his voice to a whisper, "vampires?"
"Get out of here Kim Sunoo," Ni-Ki scoffed, shaking his head dismissively.
What Sunoo said definitely sounded sillier but somehow instead of shooting the idea down immediately, like you would have, the scene from your recurring nightmare flashed across your mind, sending shivers down your spine: the abnormally long canines; the bite on your neck; and the blood dripping. You furrow your brows, trying to quell feeling of dread rising within as you touched the scar on your neck, while your eyes travelled from one pictures to the other, looking at the puncture marks on their necks.
"Vampires are stuff of fables but," you murmured, "there might be some relevancy there. What if it's a fetish or a quirk? maybe he's obsessed with vampire lores or maybe is psychologically ill and believe that he is one â either way, what I'm trying to say is that maybe he's trying to mimic it. But," you sighed, frustrated with your own train of thoughts and deduction, "why cover it then? if you're obsessed with the thought that you are a vampire or something, wouldn't you want to leave it as it is? rather than cover it?"
Sunoo and Ni-Ki nodded in agreement, debating it further, but you weren't listening to any of it anymore as your mind became increasingly preoccupied with more questions â all of which were now directing towards yourself: the cut, the dream, the maniac from before.
"â let's stake at the harbour next," you hear Ni-Ki said and Sunoo agreeing almost immediately. Without missing a beat and without any further thought, you interrupted, "I want in."
âReally?â Sunooâs face lit up momentarily before suddenly schooling his expressions, â- wait no, youâve already brushed with a potential serial killer like two months ago. I am not going to put your life in danger.â
âSunoo, you know how I feel about unsolicited paternalism,â you grumbled, arms folding, âlike you said last time, Iâm smart â I would be a great asset to you both. Like just now.â
âYouâre in,â Ni-Ki pushed Sunoo aside and extended his hands to you, âif we are serious about this, we need her intelligence. I mean even both of our brains canât analyse and observe the pictures with such insight even though we have been on this case for months.â
You grinned triumphantly, taking in Ni-Kiâs hands proudly before sticking your tongue out at Sunoo. Sunoo opened his mouth to protest but closed it immediately, finding himself wrought in a mental dilemma. He groaned, throwing his hands in the air, âFine. But you must stick to us whenever we go to the field okay? Must. I know you always go off alone and slip away but not this time.â
âGeez, okay mum,â you mocked, before offering your hand to him, beckoning him to shake it.
You weren't exactly certain what you wanted to gain from this, if not just further troubles. But something about the case and whatever has happened around you seemed to have a link. It might just be something psychological â maybe the fear from the serial killings has insidiously seeped into your mind, making you dream and hallucinate to the point of connecting dots that weren't there in the first place. Still, sitting around and letting yourself be haunted by your own nightmares and news headlines wouldn't do any good, you thought. If anything, at least by tagging along with them, you can either confirm or dispel whatever nagging presumptions you had about whatever has happened around you and to you.
Little did you know just how messy the whole thing was. How true the saying 'ignorance is bliss' is.
iii : confronting the elephant in the room
When results for the last semester was finally released one fine afternoon, all eyes were on you. After all, the assignment that you and Sunghoon had laboriously worked on for Macroeconomics was awarded the only âAâ in the module â in fact, the only A awarded ever under the module after like two years.
âWell, thatâs what happens when you ask two of the brightest in the faculty to work together,â Sunoo elbowed you, smiling sheepishly as you stared agape at the screen, still in disbelief at the grades displayed on your dashboard.
The joy was however short-lived as you were called to the Professorâs room not soon after. Apparently he was so impressed by the paper, he had invited you and Sunghoon to co-author a paper with him for an upcoming annual conference. As Sunghoon did not show up to his office, the professor had instead asked you to pass the message to him â the task of which you wished you could have outsourced given how Sunghoon does not seem so keen to engage with you anymore. And you, too, weren't exactly ecstatic to engage with him again either.
Hence why you were fiddling nervously with your pen the next morning in lecture as your eyes darted back and forth from Sunghoon, who was seated at the other end of the lecture theatre, to the brochure about the upcoming conference in your hand â your mind set ablaze with dilemma. You really did not want to talk to him again that you even considered turning down the professorâs offer altogether â but that would be irrational, you thought. It was after all an opportunity like no other that could embellish your resumĂ© further, making you more attractive to prospective employers. Then alternatively, you had also considered to just not pass on the message and tell the professor that you haven't seen him or something. But you thought that would be selfish of you. After all, it was a joint paper so he deserves the credit and opportunity as much as you do. Hence, setting your ego aside, you decided to run after him after the lecture ended.Â
You didnât really have any expectations. At worse, you pictured him scoffing and saying âno thanksâ. But well, he exceeded your expectations in the worse way possible. The moment you caught up to him, he did not even bother to act friendly or civil. There were no âhiâ, no smile â nothing, just an expression of disinterest if not, annoyance, as he took his EarPods off. You begun explaining about the Professor's offer and the upcoming paper as you handed the brochure to him, though the lack of interest which was apparent on his face, and the lack of response were making you feel increasingly unnerved and embarrassed. As if that wasn't enough, he further made you feel worse as he interrupted mid-way, handing the brochure back, âand? am I supposed to be happy for you? or interested in this? what?â
âUhâ" you were rendered speechless for a moment, âI mean, the professor is inviting us to both co-author a paper together again. It was after all our work. You deserve the credit as much as-"Â
âI couldnât care less,â he exhaled sharply, âabout this or about you taking the credit. Do whatever you want. Iâve done my job as your partner last time.â
You swallowed thickly, his words searing more than you expected, âWell, thatâs fine then. I was just passing the message on.â
âAnything else?â he asked with an eyebrow raised, looking as if you had just wasted his time. You never felt so much anger and embarrassment both at the same time. âOkay then,â he shrugged, taking your lack of responses as a 'no' and walking past you.
You scoffed. You werenât really confrontational as a person but the way this all spun was really bothering you more than you wanted to admit â like a nagging sensation at the back of your neck. The way he acted was almost as if you had done something wrong. But what? You thought to yourself. Suddenly Sunooâs question and your memory lapse rang in your mind.
âWait-" you called out, âDid something happen that night?â
You can see him heaving a huge sigh before turning around to answer you, âUnless you mistook or misunderstood something, nothing happened. We finished our work and you went home alone. I didnât bother sending you. Thatâs it. You didnât expect-â
âI donât. I just-â
âLook, this happens all the time,â Sunghoon said icily, biting his lower lip in annoyance as he took a few steps towards you, âI show any slight attention and people just mistake it as interest, expecting it to bloom into something,â the corner of his lips lifted into a conceited grin, âdonât tell me the Great Wall is buckling too? Let me spell it out to you then ââ
âPark Sunghoon,â you cut him off, the anger starting to rise within, âlet me spell it out to you because you seem to be blind with narcissism and conceit. I have my suspicions about you from the very start â that you were attempting to toy me around, for whatever reasons. I guess it must have failed since you are mistaking any slight cordiality from me now for attraction when I am just passing on the message and being nice to you for old time's sake. Get off your high horse.â
With that you turned on your heel and walked away, the anger growing with every step you took, the crumpled paper in your grasp being the only evidence of it. That being said, you couldn't help but shake the feeling of familiarity of it all â the way your words rolled so effortlessly out your mouth made it feel as if you had spoken something similar before. But thatâs impossible, you thought, no one would have riled you up so much to the point where you had to deliver such a scathing remark.
Most importantly, even if someone had, you should have remembered it.
iv: entanglement
It was not supposed to drag on this long and this deep, Sunghoon thought to himself as he watched you over from their hangout room on the 5th floor of the North Wing. You were sitting by the fountain, rambling animatedly to your âguard dogâ, making big gestures in between coffee sips while occasionally doubling-over in a fit of laughter with him. Sunghoon hated how he knew exactly what coffee you had ordered and how he could hear your laughter clearly in his mind as if he was right there next to you.
Despite the crowds forming and dispersing around you, his eyes have not left you for even a fraction of a second and if looks could kill, you'd have long been dead. Most frustrating of all to him was how with every smile you flashed, he could feel his heart raced and throbbed â though he wasnât certain if it had been due to attraction or annoyance because both had indeed been what he had been feeling towards you as of late.
Sunghoon has always been at the top of things. That is, until you came along and become a prominent part of his daily life since the start of the project. While he may have orchestrated the whole thing to turn the way it did: for you to become partners with him; for him to save you; for you to spend inordinate amount of time alone with him; and so on â you were unexpectedly like a force of nature, somehow managing to hold on your own and throw everything into disarray. It always left him feeling so confused, vexed and intrigued â conflicting emotions of which he hadn't felt in a long time â always making him torn over his next moves as he could never know if he wanted you or if he wanted to end you.
He exhaled sharply as he turned around, leaning against the large stained windows and recounting the events from that night. He didn't really plan on biting you that night but everything was indeed unfolding perfectly: you were alone with him, in his own house, with your guards down. For someone like you, who to him, has been unnecessarily a handful to deal with compared to his other victims â this was perfect as he could just quickly and cleanly sink his fangs into you and then have your body disposed somewhere. That was how simple he pictured it to be when he first set sights on you, visions red with contempt. But little did he know, in spending too much time trying to orchestrate everything perfectly from the beginning just to get back at you in the worst way possible, he was getting caught in the intricate web that he himself had spun for you.
And that night, things definitely went awry. Or rather, I went awry, he corrected himself as he threw his head back against the stained windows, suddenly reminded of the way his lips locked with yours in a drunken stupor.
The thing about Park Sunghoon is that he does not kiss â not initiating it, at least. After all, the guy love mind games and power. He relishes in the way people get so easily enchanted and manipulated by him, eventually buckling into submission without him having to lift a finger, begging for him no matter the cost. It was such a pathetic yet satisfying sight, he always thought, the way they beg for him not realising that they were basically begging for their death. Besides, as he always told Jay and Jake, both of whom never tire from indulging in such carnal pleasures, he was getting too old to be beating around the bush so heâd just cut the bullshit and go straight for the neck. As if youâre any older than us, Jake would mock.
That is not to say he would reject it completely though. His being arenât completely deprived of carnal desires so when someone does initiate it, he wouldn't protest nor reject it, letting himself just enjoy it, treating it like an appetiser before the main course. Though again, unlike Jay and Jake, he wouldnât drag it on.Â
That is, until you happened. You were supposed to be just another pawn â something to fuel his desire for mind games and power. Instead however, you were able to hold on your own, engaging him so effortlessly in a field that he had always trounced in, keeping him on edge and making him wanting more. He found himself obsessed with you and he sought to entrap you further in his games but little did he know that in digging a trench so deep for you to fall into, he himself might end up getting stuck in it. He can now see just how far he had miscalculated his steps and underestimated you, for when the opportunity to get back at you, like he always wanted, materialised that night, he did the stupidest thing he could have ever done â he went for your lips.
The moment his lips enveloped yours, he completely lost all sense and rationality. Like on a drunken stupor, he was so intoxicated by the softness of your lips, the warmth emanating from your body, and the way you struggled against him â it was sickly electrifying and intoxicating and as if karma was getting back at him, he remembered feeling how he was the one getting lulled this time. Then there was the smell and taste of your blood on your lips that sent him delirious but somehow, instead of triggering his predatory feeding mode, it fuelled his hunger for something else.
He remembered then hungrily pressing his lips onto yours, his hands roaming up your body, making you gasp, providing him the perfect opportunity to deepen the kiss, as he slipped his tongue in. He remembered how the harder you protested and rejected him, the more it riled him up, finding himself trailing sloppy kisses down your neck â something heâd hardly have to nor want to do to another human. As he grabbed a fistful of your shirt, tugging it just slightly just off your shoulder, he could feel the desire to sink his fangs into you morphing into something different: it was no longer just to simply satisfy his thirst and get back at you â he wanted to mark you; to own you. That was probably why he was able to stop himself from depriving you completely off of your life source that night despite how much you had riled him â because it wasnât just hunger alone. Â
He could feel his throat now constricting and his gums tingling â an indication of the hunger rising within and his canines extending into its full length â as the memory reawaken his thirst for your blood, for your lips, for you in its entirety. âFuck,â he cussed breathily, burying his face in his palm, suddenly seeing red again. He hated the hold you seemingly have on him. He had been all over the place the past few weeks trying to prove otherwise: meeting other girls; drinking other blood; and most importantly, avoiding and being an arse towards you. He was afterall, no slave to emotions nor desires â he could overcome this easily, he thought to himself. Yet, here he was, tormented from just mere memories of you. Oh, he wanted you so bad.
âYou have got to nip this in the bud,â he suddenly remembered Heeseung cautioning him one night, âotherwise, it will grow into an Achilles Heel Sunghoon.â
He turned back around, dizzy, as he propped his hand against the window, letting his head rest against it as his eyes, which were growing luminescent by the second, zeroed in on you. "I shouldn't have let you live..." Sunghoon breathed, feeling the gravity of Heeseung's words.
v: minefield
With cases rising and no leads, your campus had started to impose a curfew, threatening punishments for those found to be out and about in campus grounds beyond 8 PM. Though you found the newly-imposed curfew ridiculous, given how there had been no cases in campus, you still abide it nevertheless. Except for tonight that is, as you had left your iPad at Sunooâs club room. Since it had all the important notes from todayâs lecture for an upcoming pop quiz, you decided to risk it â breaking into the South Wing and quickly retrieving it before the Student Union members, who wouldâve usually be out patrolling by then, could catch you.Â
Having quickly retrieved your iPad, your were just about to climb out the window which you had used earlier when you heard a bloodcurdling scream from the upper floors, followed by what sounded like furnitures getting knocked over. For any normal person, that should have been the queue to run off. But then again, you had always been an outlier with a sense of curiousity and fearlessness that is bound to get you into trouble one day â at least that was what Sunoo had always said about you.
âScrew it,â you muttered to yourself, walking away from the window towards the staircase. As you climbed up, you can start to hear the cacophony of noises more clearly: scuffles; furnitures dragged; and some sort whimper or cry. Then it all stopped and suddenly, all the courage left you. In the dark and stillness of the night, all you could hear was your quickening heartbeat and all you could see was either empty corridors with your own reflection on the windows.
You backed away, feeling deeply unsettled by the sudden stillness when suddenly, before you could descend down the stairs to go back, you felt yourself getting yanked back by a bony arm that has wrapped itself around your neck, putting you on a chokehold. You thrashed wildly, clawing on the person's arm, as your croaked, "le-let me go-go. I will scre-scream. There are people down the-thereâ"
You could hear the person scoff, seeing through your lie easily. You feel the person's other hand coming up to your head, stroking your hair tauntingly, while whispering menacingly close to your ears, âdead people canât scream though.â
The next thing you knew, you had been pushed down the stairs, tumbling down several flights of stairs, twisting your hand in the process and hitting your head a few times against either the cold ground or the foot of the railing, before coming to a stop by the next landing. You groaned in pain as the back of your head hit the hard cement. Despite the pain, you forced yourself to sit up, panicking as the figure walked down the stairs at a glacial pace. Silhouetted, you can see that the person was a lanky man, with rather wide, yet bony shoulders. Terror-stricken, you were ready to take off again but to your horror, you couldn't feel your legs. You looked back up, horrified, when the man's lower face got momentarily illuminated as he passed by a window, his thin lips curving into a wry, malevolant grin, his tongue then making a quick slow swipe over his bloodied lips. You were immediately reminded of your nightmare.
You mustered every bit of strength left to back away, powering through the pain through gritted teeth but it was futile as he soon loomed over your body. Grabbing a fistful of your collar, he dragged you towards the end of the landing, letting you hover over the next flight of stairs, giving you a slight swing before letting go. You squeezed your eyes shut, bracing for the impact.
It never came.
You felt nothing and saw nothing for a prolonged period of time, before it all suddenly warp into a convoluted mess of dreams, nightmares and bad memories â like an acid trip â then abruptly ending when your eyes flew open.
Still in an almost fight and flight state from both the experience and the dream, you immediately sat bolt upright â panicking as you looked around the room, thinking you were still at the mercy of the murderous man. Instead of the darkness however, the room you were in was so brightly-lit and brightly-painted. Instead of the cold hard tile underneath you, you were sitting on a soft white bed. Instead of a murderous man holding you by the collar, Lee Heeseung, the Student Union President, was the one next to you, eyes lit up in relief as he exclaimed, âFinally! Youâre awake!â
You stared at him blankly, confused. Is this a dream, you ruminated, was last night a dream?. After all, the Student Union President, who is also part of Sunghoonâs clique, would be the last person you would ever expect to be by your bedside.
âWhere am I- why are y-" you stuttered, trying to fight through the pain that you felt all over. Heeseung quickly reached over, gently grasping both of your shoulders to prevent you from toppling over, âcareful, you took a really hard tumbleâ"
Instinctively, you recoiled away from his touch, still traumatised over whatever you had experienced earlier.Â
âSorry,â he muttered, âI didnât mean to - you just, you look like you were about to faint...â
You swallowed thickly, still eyeing him in suspicion, âwhat... what happened?â
âWell, we were patrolling and found you passed out cold at the base of the stairs,â he answered, his gaze remaining soft as if trying to reassure you that he meant no harm and that you are safe now, âbrought you here immediately. Thankfully, the doctor said you suffered no major injuries, just a lot of bruises, a twisted wrist, and a small cut by the side of your head. You might have knocked it against the railing or something. But fortunately, theyâre just some superficial cuts. Not sure how lon-â
âthe girl â" you interjected as the memories from just now, or last night, or whenever the incident actually was, came rushing through, âwhat about the girl?â
Heeseung stared blankly at you, âwhat girl? you were alone.â
âNo I wasnât,â you replied adamantly, âthereâ there should have been someone else-"
"There were no one else, we-"
"No, there was a girl somewhere in the building. She- she screamed! I heard it!" you protested, "I followed the voice and then suddenly," you croaked, losing your voice, "suddenly there was this man and he-" you swallowed thickly, struggling, as your head begin to spin, "he pushed- he pushed me!"
"y/n, but there-"
"No listen, he pushed me!" you insisted, looking up at Heeseung, almost pleading, "I didn't tumble down. I was pushed. He- ouch-"
âHey hey, take it easy,â Heeseung quickly rose up, looking worried as he beckoned you to lay back. You shook your head, insistent, "there should be someone else. Maybe he ran way andâ and maybe he took her with him. Did you guys ev- "
"Look y/n, you did hit your head so maybe-"
âAre you seriously suggesting that my mind is playing tricks on me?â you scoffed, your tone more aggressive than you had intended, âjust because I hit my head?â
"Look y/n, the fact is that we found you alone. I promise you, we scoured the whole building, the compound, the adjacent wings and even the nearby woods â no one was out there except for the ones patrolling and you," Heeseung sighed, rubbing his forehead before exhaling sharply, looking stern, "and frankly, no one should. It was curfew hours. You, of all people, should know the implication of it."
You opened your mouth, wanting to protest further but immediately stopped yourself as you now belatedly realised just how much trouble you are possibly in for being out during curfew hours. You sank back onto your propped pillows behind you, defeated.
"y/n... just rest up for now okay? I will keep you posted in case I uncovered anything that might relate to your sightings last night," Heeseung gave you a tight-lipped smile as he drew the cubicle curtains around your bed to lend you some privacy though he stopped short before closing it completely.
"y/n," he called out softly. When you looked up, the warm gaze and smile had disappeared as he cautioned, "I would advise you to not tell anyone about last night unless you want to get in trouble for loitering around during curfew hours. I covered for you last night saying that your body was freezing when I found you which meant you must have passed out before curfew hours. I can assure you however no one else, especially the staffs, would be as lenient if they knew the truth. Not even if you tell them about what you had allegedly see or hear, because without any physical evidence, it just sounds like excuses.â
With that he excused himself, leaving you alone, dejected and defeated, questioning your own memory, "what the hell is going on with me?"
vi: the lifesaver
Its been a few weeks and still, there had been no new updates about that night. No woman, no man, no body â just you, your memories and some fading bruises, which youâve been diligently covering with turtlenecks and long sleeves. As days passed, the memory melded perfectly with your recurring nightmares, leaving you questioning your own memory and mind â all the while, the feeling of looming terror felt as if it was increasingly gnawing you from within, haunting you. Hence, youâve sought solace in overworking yourself, staying cooped up in the library, head buried in books â all so you can distract yourself.Â
Tonight however, your body was paying the price for having been overworking the past few days, pulling you into a deep sleep when you had only intended the nap to last for 15 minutes. You awoke, panic-stricken, seeing the floor you were on completely desolated. You quickly packed up, your mind on overdrive thinking of what excuses to give the guard or library staff when you pass them by in the lobby.
âOh youâre awake?â
You screamed, backing against your table and knocking some books off the edge. It's been weeks, but you were still skittish from your last incident. Fortunately, it wasn't yet another maniac. You recognised the vest he was wearing â it was the one that the library guards always wore. You immediately apologised, âSorry, really - I thought-"
âNo, no,â the man quickly rushed over, bending down to help you pick your books up, âI should be the one apologising since I was the one who startled you.â
âNo, Iâm the one here during curfew hours...â you sighed, bending down to also pick the books up when it suddenly dawned on you who the man was, âYang Jungwon?â
His eyes lit up as he nodded excitedly, âfor a second there I thought you had completely forgotten about me. Wouldnât blame you though, I was gone for a long time.â
âOf course I remember you!â you assured him, âItâs just that⊠your hair. Itâs black now. The red hair was pretty much your signature, wasn't it? it earned you that nickname 'The Flaming Tiger the Taekwando Club', right?"
He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck shyly, âyeah, I dyed it back to black. Kind of preferring to keep a low profile now.â
âWell, I mean, with all the medals youâve raked especially after you have gotten out of the hospital, Iâm pretty sure you don't need the red hair to make yourself memorable in the Taekwando scene any more,â you concurred, âYouâre really amazing you know that? Kicking back stronger after like a 3-week hospitalisation â how is that even possible? And now you're like part-timing as a guard here too.â
"Well, I've been having a hard time sleeping at night so part-timing during graveyard hours actually keeps me sane âanyway enough about me," Jungwon diverted, leaning against your table, "I heard so much about you as well. Heard you got straight A's last semester and is now co-authoring a paper with one of the University's highly-cited professor â come on now, your achievements are more worth praising then mine."
"Oh please stop being humble. Also the A was for a joint assignment so it's not reallyâ" you trailed off, "shoot â they're coming," you gasped, hurriedly packing up as you saw two Student Union members in the compound, making their way towards the library, "well, it was nice catching up with you Jungwon but it's curfew hours and I've got to run. Can you do me a favour and pretend you didn't see me? Thanks!"
âNo wait,â he suddenly called out ,grabbing your wrist and stopping you in your tracks, "youâll get caught if you head that way. Come with me, I know a better way.â
You took the offer almost immediately â trusting Jungwon, who then led you skilfully through a maze of corridors and stairs, explaining how there is a secret passage in the basement â a tunnel â which leads you straight out to the backstreet, "so not only could you evade the 'Cerberus Knock-Offs' of campus, aka the Student Patrols, but if they find you, they can't really do anything since you're technically 'outside' of the campus grounds."
"Wow, it's like THE Yang Jungwon has gone rouge â where did the old uptight and stickler Jungwon go?" you remarked sarcastically as he pushed the heavy door, revealing a brightly-lit yet eerie-looking tunnel.
"Gone with the old shell," Jungwon quipped as he turned around, beckoning you to follow him. You hesitantly did, cautiously looking around the narrow passageway â feeling increasingly unnerved by the stillness, remoteness and desolation of it all, "why does the university need a tunnel any way? I mean, have you heard of how certain sanatoriums would wheel bodies discretely through tunnels back then? what if the same is happening here?"
"Why would the university be wheeling bodies though?" Jungwon gave you a quick glance before tinkering with the locks of the door at the end of the tunnel.
"I'm not saying it's the university," you clarified, suddenly reminded of your incident and the lack of evidence, "but what if the serial killer that's on the loose in town right now made it to campus â these passageways would just help him finish half the job don't you think?"
"You've always been so smart and sharp," Jungwon muttered as he rose up, his body turned towards you as he placed his hand on the crash bar of the door, his eyes narrowing, "but you should be careful with the accusations though, the staffs here are incredibly sensitive to it, fearing that such rumours would incite panic and paranoia, potentially jeopardising the university's reputation."
"But I'm not accusing," you retorted, "I actually he-" you stopped short, reminded of Heeseung's warning.
"Just saying y/n, you don't want to fly too close to the sun for you will get burnt," Jungwon cautioned as he pushed the crash bar with his elbow, his eyes still on you. Your brows knit in confusion at his cryptic words which you couldn't discern whether is a warning to you, or an advice. You can also see now, underneath the harsh lighting of the tunnel, how it wasn't just the hair that made him look and feel different. Particularly, he was skinnier and paler than you last remembered which, together with his sharp feline eyes and arched brows, made him look more intimidating. Feeling the weight of his gaze, you cleared you throat, breaking the eye contact, "I-uh should probably leave now."
"I've ordered a cab for you by the way," he beamed as you slipped outside, "it should be by the bend."
"You shouldn't have- but thanks Jungwon, I owe you twice tonight," you waved at him, "stay safe."
"you should be careful and stay safe too y/n," he replied back, waving at you.
Though thankful for his help, throughout your journey back home, you couldn't help but feel like Jungwon was hiding something.
vii: an ultimatum
âHey Sunoo, did you remember that one caseâ" you stopped mid-sentence as you looked up from your phone, realising belatedly that the figure you saw from your periphery vision as you entered the Press Society Club Room was not Sunoo. You knew who it was almost instantaneously though even when he had his back against you: the tall stature; broad shoulders; thick black hair; dark get-up and of course, the air of arrogance. It was none other than Park Sunghoon.
As if hearing his name just being said aloud in your mind, he turned around, lips already curved into a conceited grin as he gestured towards Sunoo's board, âyou guys have some interesting collage right here.â
âYou have no business being here,â you said curtly.Â
Scoffing, he cocked his head in the direction of the photo studio, ânope, but he does.â
Just then, Heeseung emerged out of the studio, carrying a bunch of pictures. Trailing closely behind him, was Sunoo, fuming, âgive them back! they are ours!"
âNot anymore," Heeseung sighed, handing the pictures to Sunghoon instead, who clicked his tongue tauntingly as he look through the pictures, âlisten, I'm actually doing you guys a favour here. If anyone else finds out about these morbid collections, you and Ni-Ki could become suspects immediately. Trust me, in the absence of any convincing leads â they'd lap it up. Even if they donât, you guys will still get into trouble, for intercepting and for potentially tempering the scene.â
âBut they never went close to the scene!â you quickly defended.
âAnd who can vouch for that?â Sunghoon derided, looking amused.
"This could put the university's reputation in jeopardy so I am putting a stop to it," Heeseung said adamantly.
âIf you really care about the campus and its people, youâd know how important our work and progress is,â Sunoo snapped.
âLook, just because you are able to take a bunch of grotesque pictures and connect them with strings against a map on a board doesnât mean you guys are making any important discovery,â Sunghoon scoffed, looking down condescendingly at Sunoo, "Just stick to Cluedo, kids."
âWhat the fuck is your problem,â Sunoo exploded, grabbing Sunghoon by the collar, looking as if he was ready to throw punches. Sunoo had always been the personafication of sunshine and peace but right then you can see how riled up he was from the way he glowered at Sunghoon, the way his fist clenched hard and the way his voice dropped a few octaves lower. He seemed almost like a different person. You couldn't help but quickly rush over, grabbing his arm, fearing that he would really let emotions get the best of him, "Sunoo, don'tâ"
"Aww," Sunghoon mocked, straightening up the crumpled lapel of his blazer, before turning to you, "you should've let him punch me. It might relieve his anger."
"I'm not stupid to let him get easily framed like that. Not by the likes of you," you snapped back. Sunghoon scoffed, chuckling, "I know you're not. But your blockhead of a friend definitely is. Not so bad for a guard dog though â at least he isn't all bark and no bite. Shame that he has never been around to run to your aid when you need it the most."
Your brows knit in confusion at his words, somehow picking up something in the way he said it.
"Sunghoon, cut it out," Heeseung said authoritatively as he grabbed the main door open before turning his attention back to you and Sunoo, "I'll send someone to confiscate everything as discreetly as possible and turn a blind eye to this just this once but if I found out that you guys are meddling in this case again, or even loitering during curfew hours for whatever reason â I'll report you guys straight to the dean. This applies to you too, y/n â I've already let you go once, remember that."
With that, they excused themselves, and as soon as the door closed, Sunoo sunk onto a nearby couch. While he covered his face with his arm, you could tell he angry and dejected he was â his chest heaving in anger, ears red, "this is fucking unfair," he croaked.
You couldn't help but feel some sort of guilt in the matter. The suddenness of it all and the way Sunghoon seemed to specifically rile him felt rather personal. As if it was done simply out of spite to you not for whatever noble reason that Heeseung just sprouted. "I'll be back, okay?" you assured Sunoo before you ran out the door, frantically looking around to find Sunghoon. Thankfully he hadn't gone far, just by the bend of the corridor,
"Park Sunghoon!" you called out, marching towards him. Again, as if expecting you, he already had that distasteful smirk on his face.
âLook, if you have a problem with me, then you should take it out on me not on the people around me,â you argued, seething, âSunoo doesnât deserve this. He worked hard on it.â
âDidnât we tell you that it was for the best?â he repeated flamboyantly, his grin getting wider with every step he took towards you, âthe efforts you guys are putting in are useless anyway and even if, say, you guys somehow solved it â you think the authorities will believe you guys? if anything, you guys will get into trouble for potentially disrupting their work and the scene. Even if you guys actually don't temper around, they will make it seem as if you guys did just to discredit you guys. Because come on, otherwise, they'd become the punching bag of town: authorities beaten by a bunch of campus kids."
âCut that bullshit Sunghoon, I'm pretty sure you'd rather see us scapegoated and humiliated," you retorted, "What exactly do you want from stopping this?"
"Do you..." he drawled, taking slow steps towards you, biting his lips to suppress the grin that was blooming on his lips, " really want to know what I want?". You opened your mouth, ready to protest, but find yourself frozen as he brought his hand up to your neck, his cold fingers grazing the spot where your scar was. Your brows knit in confusion at his sudden touch â the familiarity of which was threatening to evoke something in your mind. It felt like those moments when you stopped short in doing whatever you were doing because a sensation reminded you of certain memory or a dream. You could feel your mind going on overdrive as it raked through you mind palace for a specific memory but failing, making you feel more disgruntled at the mystery of it all. As if noticing the effect he had on you internally, the corner of his lips tip up, forming a devilish grin, "you left your scarf didn't you? well, since your scar is healing pretty fast, I doubt you'd need it anymoreâ"
Alarmed at how he noticed the scar which you had so diligently covered all these while, you snapped out of it, shoving his hand away, "how did- mind your own business Sunghoon."
"you should be the one minding your own business y/n," he muttered icily, the smile faltering as he took steps closer towards you, his gaze darkening, "stop knocking on death's door, you're not invincible, just lucky. With your predisposition towards danger however, you're going to run out of them soon."
"What's it to you?" you remarked sarcastically, "thought we're strangers."
He bit lower lips as if restraining the smirk that was blooming on his lips, "you'd wish we were."
The next thing you knew, Sunghoonâs gaze darkened and almost instantaneously, you could feel your heart sink, as if knowing exactly what would follow. Within split seconds, he had cupped your face, his thumb caressing your lips, eyes boring into yours, the intensity searing. âSunghoon, what are yo-â you protested, palming his chest, trying to push him off, but it all somehow evoked a strong feeling of familiarity, just like earlier. Except, it had gotten too intense that you find yourself immobilised. All of a sudden, your vision went haywire, fading back and forth between reality and fragments of yourself in a similar setting â it was as if your hallucinations or nightmares were being superimposed into reality. The Sunghoon before you kept on fading into someone else â someone you couldn't properly identify as that man pressed his lips onto yours, devouring it with so much ferocity and hunger, that you find yourself struggling for air. When you were finally able to wedge a space in between, to your horror, it was Sunghoon all along. His tongue making a quick swipe over his lipstick-stained lips, eyes glazed with lust. Within split seconds, he was dipping his head closer to yours again, seeking to reattach his lips to yours. "No- get off!" you protested, blindly hitting him. When he caught your hands in his, the whole scene revert to normal, to the Sunghoon that was caressing your lips at the campus corridor.
You stared at him in a mix of horror and disbelief, disoriented and dizzy. Feeling your self-awareness and will back, you quickly shoved him away. "What was-" you panted, stammering, "that? what was that? what did you do?"
"What was what?" he smirked, backing away at a glacial pace, "I didn't even do anything. You're the one who froze up on me." Just like that, he just turned around and walked away, leaving you rooted on spot, still at loss. It all felt so vivid just now â like remembering a dream or a nightmare but instead of it simply being confined in your mind, it was superimposed into reality, taking over visually and emotionally, rendering you completely struck and helpless.
"y/n!"
You suddenly feel yourself wheeled around, it was Sunoo, looking concerned, "why aren't you responding? I was getting worried since you were gone for too lo-" he paused, noticing how pale you've became, your hands trembling, "hey, are you okay? did he do something to you?"
"Sunoo..." you muttered weakly, forlorn, "I think... I think something is wrong with me."
âș Part 003
A/N: Hello everyone! thank you for reading hehe. In case the ending stumps you, fret not, there is a continuation to this. It was getting longer and I thought it would more coherent for it to be ended right here, the rest saved for the next part. That would also be more efficient for me too because as someone who is too perfectionist to a fault, the proofreading bit is taking almost as much effort and time as the initial drafting. Apologies if there are any incoherence and errors. English is after all not my first language. With that said, I hope you like this one as much as the 1st part and hope you'll still stick around for part #003 of Dancing with the Devil â I can assure you that there would be more revelations and more things developing there ;)

Diluc x Mute!Fem!Reader
Warnings: Angst to Fluff, Injuries, Being Mean to Reader :(
Summary: As Diluc's days got busier, he seems to have been more irritable towards you and everyone who tried to approach him. After one particular night, he, for some reason, couldn't take you always running in front of him, signing about some stupid shit he probably doesn't care about, stopping him in his tracks if he doesn't acknowledge you. Diluc lashed out, he turned in for the night right after, and you went to sleep with a broken heart. The next day he got the news that you got in an accident, body severing minor injuries, but your hands and arms, they're bruised bad, now you can't even converse with him properly anymore. (No permanent damage to body)
~âą~âą~âą~âą~âą~âą~âą~âą~âą~âą~
Your ears perk up as you hear the front door open, familiar footsteps fill the receiving area as you let the maids take over your cooking to greet your husband.
You walked eagerly into the living room, seeing the man you loved the most in this world. He seemed a little worse for wear these past few days, but Diluc is strong! Plus, you were always there to support him.
You stood in front of him, giving him a wave and a small smile to show that you're happy that he's home. Diluc seems to pay no mind to you, taking off his coat and attempting to put it on the coat rack, before you interrupted him.
"Let me wash that for you. You've been wearing it all week." You signed, lending a helping hand. The man in front of you just sighed before handing his coat over to you. After that, he just walked passed you and headed for his office... as usual.
That's odd though, he didn't even greet you.
"Y/N... Y/N!" You hear a panicked voice call out for you, despite their attempt to yell for you, it's as if their voice was faint and quiet, almost like a haze.
"H-hey, I'm here, alright?" The voice seems to have grown shaky, you felt a warm hand cup your cheek. At that moment, everything started to hurt, your body, your head, but especially... your arms.
Your arms feel so sore, both resting beside you, and you don't know if you want to open your eyes, see what has happened, why are you in so, so much pain.
"Please, wake up..." The voice seemed to beg, it sounded sad, lost, confused, that tempted you.
You opened your eyes.
"Y/N!" You felt strong arms embrace you, warms hands guiding your head to rest on a firm chest. A very familiar scent, wood and grapes.
Diluc...
You can't wait to show Diluc what you've made for dinner! It's been weeks since you started to learn how to cook and you're positive, absolutely sure that tonight was your first ever masterpiece! A masterpiece that he doesn't have to fake a smile for and give you a pat on the head while eating just to spare your feelings.
And you've made some freshly made grape juice too! Just in case the shrimp salad you made is still gonna be one of your... "working progress". But Diluc is always nice, he'll be very encouraging even if you fail yet again.
And yet, you stood there, tears in your eyes as you look down on the food that your husband has shoved away to the ground, everything spilling...
Like your tears as he yells at you,
"You are the biggest burden that anyone can ever carry!"
"It's so hard with you! Do you really fucking expect me to have some kind of eagle eyes and watch you sign about things that are so insignificant?!"
"I could have been with someone who can actually communicate with me, you know? Instead, for some reason, I got a girl who can't even say a single word even if her life depended on it!"
He grabs you by the shoulder, making you look up at him with immense fear, "Leave. Me. The. Fuck. Alone." You nodded quickly, and with that, he let you go with a slight shove, but it was enough for you to be stumbling back a bit.
You would've consulted him, asked him if he was okay, wouldn't mind the mess that he's made on the floor and would advice him to rest. But you left, so scared, so frightened. That was not the man you married.
"Y/N?" You feel the exact same fear from that moment crippling up in your heart. Diluc was smiling at you softly, glad that you were awake, and yet, you felt that you wanted to run away, crawl up in a corner and beg for him not to hurt you.
You jump in surprise, trying to sit up, but when your hands pushed onto the bed to support yourself, you felt a jolting pain consume you as you whimper, falling back onto the bed immediately. Everything hurts.
"Careful, please." Diluc's hands gently grab onto your elbows, right above your bandaged forearms. The gentleness was so familiar, comforting, but the uneasiness still grew inside you. "You don't want your injuries to get worse." He looked back at your face, seeing the shock and worry etched onto your feature, but what made his breath hitch was the undiluted fear in your eyes.
You're scared... of him?
He waited outside the room as the Sisters of the Church of Favonious treated you, explaining what had happened, what injuries you've gotten. He paced as he recalled what he had seen of you, everything that has happened yesterday, everything he said.
The red-haired man cursed himself, wanting to punch the wall and bang his head on it, but that would be really inappropriate in the Cathedral.
And now, you're both home, you sitting on the couch whilst looking down at your hands on your lap, covered in bruises and bloody bandages. You feel even worse now...
"I could have been with someone who can actually communicate with me, you know? Instead, for some reason, I got a girl who can't even say a single word even if her life depended on it!" His words echoed in your head.
He's right, now you really have no way of communicating, apart from yes or no questions. You can't even lift your arms without them hurting, he's probably just keeping you here so you can heal, then he'll most likely want a divorce. The thought made your heart ache. Despite what he said, what he did, you still love him, you just don't know if he feels the same.
Diluc, who said that he was gonna go upstairs to your shared room to take a shower, has stayed, standing by the stairs behind you. Your small form looking so lonely and not your usual energetic self had struck countless needles at his heart.
He didn't know what to do, in his mind, you probably hated him, despised him with all your heart. Diluc understands if you do, he feels exactly the same way for himself.
Night came and you didn't want to eat, despite not eating anything since breakfast. Your husband placed a tray on the coffee table, he insisted that you should eat, he won't stop pestering you until you do. So he just sits there at the couch with you, waiting until you nudge him, as a signal that you finally want to eat.
After hours, to which Diluc was already sure that it's almost midnight, did you finally look at him, giving a small hum his way to gain his attention.
"Do you want to eat now, Love?" You shook your head, before looking up to the second floor, specifically, the door of your room.
"Do you want to rest?" You just nodded. Diluc frowned at you, "It's not good to go to bed on an empty stomach." He stated, but when you looked at him, your face begging him to just drop it and just let you go, he reluctantly agreed. "Alright."
Diluc carefully carried you upstairs, holding you as if you'd break if he doesn't hold you up properly, but in this case, you probably will.
He lays you down onto the bed, head resting on a soft pillow as he gently places your hands on top of your stomach.
"Comfy?" You didn't answer, focusing your eyes onto your hands, your only form of proper communication with him, temporarily gone as well, you felt tears form in your eyes, remembering everything that happened, an uncontrollable sob comes out of your mouth.
Your husband slowly kneels down to your level, you refusing to meet his feary red eyes. His heart was clenching, being torn apart as you force your body to not give in, to not cry and let all the never spoken emotions out.
"Hey, hey, what are you doing?" Diluc cupped your hands after seeing you attempt to move them up. You ignored him, your right hand falling onto your side before you pat the bed. You still refused to look at him, your eyes on your other hand as you slowly pat the bed.
He looked at you confused, "You want me to lay down with you?" You shook your head, sniffing slightly.
"You don't like the bed sheets?" Not that either.
"The bed is too hard?" No.
With all your strength, you pointed downwards, before you let your hand rest.
"Under the bed?" You nodded enthusiastically, encouraging him to look there.
"Huh?" The red-haired man looked down beneath the bed, and there definitely was something... a paper.
He reached for it, bringing it out from under and into your sight.
"Do you want me to read it to you?" You nodded again, despite your tired eyes, you smiled at him again. Smiled... at him. It melted his heart. You finally looked at him.
Wedding Vow to Diluc
Your husband looked at you questioningly for a second, his breath seemed to be stuck in his throat as he read the title. He sat on the bed next to you before looking back at the piece of paper.
I love you... that's something I can never say to you. In fact, I can't say anything to you at all.
But everything I feel about you, everything you ever make me feel, it's all real. There's too many reasons why I love you, Diluc, but the most important one is because... you accept me, you embrace who I am, you love me. Those things, they all mean so, so much to me.
You feel for me, you always say that I'm your inspiration, your number one supporter, your cheerleader, but all that can only get you so far, besides, do you really feel motivated by a cheer that you can't even hear?
But still, thank you, Diluc, you're the best thing that's ever happened to my life. I will always be there for you, whenever you need me. I love you, I always have and I always will.
-Y/N
Hot tears fall on the paper as the man holding it lets the tears escape his eyes. He looked at you, to see your also tear-stained face smile at him yet again.
Diluc placed the paper on the bedside table before cupping both of your cheeks, kissing your lips with the softest pecks. "I love you too. Archons, you don't know how much I-"
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Y/N, my love. I hope you can forgive me." You nodded rapidly, indicating that you do forgive him. "Do you still love me?"
You nodded, of course you still do, you never stopped loving him.
"I love you too..." Diluc chuckled for a bit, placing his forehead against yours, "I love you too."
Wake up and break up

âËâčâ„p: bestfriend's brother ! heeseung x female reader
âৠâ§ââ„s: you and your bestfriend have a mutual understanding; her twin brother is completely off limits for many obvious reasons. but when the two of you are left alone and he tests the waters, will you be able to keep girl code, or will you surrender to long awaited pleasure?
smut warnings will be in the official release! comment or send an ask to be added to the taglistâčâ ââ„
you and heeyeon have been the tightest peas in a pod ever since elementary school. over a decade of laughter, heartbreaks, stupid crushes, first times, all the eventful ups and downs of girlhood and growing up together. you talk the same, walk the same, and when people see her, you're right beside her. you're inseparable.
she's like all of your thoughts mushed into a human body, nobody understands you the way she does. but as alike as you are, there's one significant difference - your reputations.
alcohol, and especially people have never been your thing. you prefer to stay in the comfort of your dorm and binge watch kdramas, meanwhile she's getting white girl wasted at parties and won't remember a thing in the morning. so yeah, you won't hear the best things if you asked about her, but its never stopped her from being a man magnet.
heeyeon is gorgeous; petite with long black hair, small face, lips plump with filler, big dark eyes, and the cutest little nose to match. it's not her fault all the guys on campus want to take her home for a wild night, and even if "campus whore" was the right label, someone has to look the part.
however, there is someone who doesn't fall far from the tree, and he perfectly fits the title of an actual campus whore.
heeseung is the name, heeyeon's ultimate fuckboy of a brother.
her scarily identical carbon copy who's older by just 15 minutes, he's heeyeon entirely plastered onto a 6-foot male body; the same nose and pouty pink lips, and the most obnoxious doe eyes that perceive him to be innocent, although he's far from anything pure.
it wasn't a secret that heeseung got around thanks to his hookups sprinting to brag, he quickly gained a known name for giving it good. heeseung naturally attracted people of all genders, sizes, races, everyone who's laid eyes on him at school has wanted to fuck him at least once in their life, whether they'll admit it or not. yourself included, there's no denying his alluring charm or his captivating looks.
heeseung was just as fond of you as you were of him, after all you were his twin sister's bestfriend, and you've spent most nights at their parent's mansion for years. even though you didn't interact 1 on 1 much, you know good and well what type of guy he is. you've seen it with your own eyes, and you hear it; his bedroom is right across from heeyeon's, with the thinnest of walls.
heeyeon made it very clear that heeseung was someone you should steer clear from. she didn't care who you were to her, messing around with her brother would call it quits. it's a betrayal that haunts her, girls used her all the time just to get a turn with him. she's lost a friend one too many times because heeseung was sucking the life out of the poor girl, or the girl was quite literally sucking him behind her back.
besides, it just didn't make sense in her head. you're smart and sweet and carry yourself well, you don't belong with someone as utterly disgusting, promiscuous, immature and careless as her brother. you deserve someone who has eyes for you and only you, and she knows her brother better than anyone. heeseung wasn't going to do anything other than use you to make him cum, just like the other 25 girls piled up in his phone.
well, how do you feel about heeseung?
the mere thought of him makes your stomach twist and turn, and being around him is worse, you can't help the stutter you develop whenever he asks you something so simple and stupid. the outrageous rumors that circulate camp in the back of your brain when you look at him, like him fucking his female teachers to pass his classes, or his body count being in the triple digits. honestly, how does one even know that many people?
even if they aren't true, he's still terrifying. but terrifying in a way that makes you so infatuated, enthralled by him. it's a guilty pleasure of yours when he's near, having his shirtless kitchen conversations with heeyeon. and as a virgin, you'd be lying if you said you don't fantasize about heeseung being the first person to go between your legs. with the screams you've heard at night, it was hard not to imagine.
but despite your lewd delusions about heeseung, the importance of maintaining boundaries and protecting your friendship with heeyeon was more important. you would never jeopardize your bond and actually go through with your thoughts of impurity, your fantasies would remain just that - fantasies, hidden away in the privacy of your mind. they had no place in reality.
besides, heeseung has a type. you've seen the girls who awkwardly leave his room with messy hair and a limp to their walk, they look nothing like you. it's not like he would ever see you in that way, you're just his sister's best friend, and you'd never be anything more.
or so you thought.
silly you, when has heeseung ever had morals?

Your relationship with Sukuna was on its last legs. You tried to make things work, but he was as difficult as it could get, and mean. After a particularly terrible fight, the two of you made up, and you began to hope again. Later that night, his friends called, inviting him to the club. You told him you werenât comfortable with it. He agreed to stay, even tucking you into bed.
But once you fell asleep, he snuck out.
Things went downhill from there.
Sukuna and his friends drank heavily, and soon he was caught up in the chaosâlaughing, dancing, and losing control. While you slept, his friends began posting videos online: Sukuna receiving a lap dance, drunk and kissing another girl, clearly high and out of his mind.
When you woke up, you reached over to find his side of the bed cold and empty. You thought he had left early for work. But then your phone started blowing up with messages from friends and strangers alike. Your heart pounded as you unlocked it and opened Instagram, only to see the posts.
One after another, each post felt like a knife to your chestâSukuna smiling lazily, his hands on another woman, his lips brushing hers. You could see the flashing lights, hear the blaring music, and feel the sting of betrayal in every picture and clip. Your fingers trembled, and your vision blurred with tears as you watched in disbelief.
The room felt like it was spinning. You tried to steady yourself, but the weight of it all was crushing. How could he do this to you, especially after you had been so open, so vulnerable about your feelings? After he had promised to stay?
You had told him, in the heat of making up, that this was his last chance. You were clear: if he messed up again, you were packing your things and going back to the States. He had looked you in the eyes and promised. And yet, he still went and did this.
Meanwhile, Sukuna was still sleeping, his head pounding and the room spinning. He didnât remember a damned thing the night before. He remembered sneaking out, thinking heâd make it back before sunrise, slip back into bed, and act like nothing happened. You were just being too dramatic, he thought. Youâd told him how you didnât like his friends, that they hated you and were trying to break the two of you up. Heâd laughed it off as paranoia. Crazy talk.
He vaguely remembered drinking a shotâjust oneâand after that, things got hazy. He didnât believe for a second that his friends would spike his drink.
No, theyâd never do that⊠right?
But now, as he blinked his eyes open, he realized something was very wrong. Next to him was a woman he didnât recognize, definitely not you. The sunlight was streaming through the window, and panic shot through his body like a jolt of electricity. His heart raced as he sat up, the events of the night before still a foggy blur.
âOh, shit,â he muttered under his breath, his mind starting to piece together the fragments. You two had just made upâhow could he have been so reckless?
Sukuna fumbled for his phone, his hands shaking. The screen lit up, showing the time: 12:46. His heart sank even further. He really had messed up this time. The battery was about to die, a thin red line warning him he had little time left. He glanced around, trying to make sense of the unfamiliar room.
What confused him most was that he was still in his clothes from the night before. A small reliefâat least he hadnât slept with the woman next to him. But that didnât matter much, did it? He was still in bed with another woman, a stranger, and that alone was enough to shatter whatever trust you had left in him.
His head throbbed with a dull, pounding pain, a mix of alcohol and regret. He desperately needed water, but his feet felt glued to the floor. As he forced himself to sit up, the room seemed to spin around him. He rubbed his temples, trying to shake off the fog of the hangover, but his mind remained a jumbled mess.
He checked his phone again, scrolling through the flood of messages, but your name wasnât among them. No missed calls, no texts, no messages. Just silence.
It took you two hours to get yourself to function properly. When something traumatic happened, you had this tendency to just shut down. No crying, no shoutingâjust silence. You couldnât even talk right now. You sat on the edge of the bed, staring blankly at the wall, your mind numb. The pain was so immense that it felt like nothing at all, a hollow void where your heart should be.
Slowly, you got up, moving like you were underwater, every step heavy and disjointed. You made your way to the bedroom closet and grabbed a suitcase, your hands moving on autopilot. You began packing everything you owned in this place, methodically folding clothes, stacking books, gathering small, personal items that had once made this space feel like home. Now, every object felt like a weight dragging you down.
You didnât remember much from those moments, only flashes of despair and confusion. Your mind was clouded, a fog of grief settling over you. All you knew was that you wanted to disappear, to somehow escape the unbearable ache in your chest.
How could this happen? Why? The questions repeated in your mind, over and over, like a broken record. Were you not enough? Was he cheating this whole time?
Your thoughts spiraled into a dark place, each one more suffocating than the last. The silence of the room pressed in around you, amplifying every doubt, every fear. You felt lost in a sea of uncertainty, desperately searching for something to hold onto, but finding nothing but emptiness.
You paused for a moment, standing still in the middle of the room, clutching a shirt to your chest. You wanted to scream, to cry, to do anything, but no sound came out. All that filled you was a deep, aching void that left you feeling more alone than ever before.
Just as you finished packing, the door opened, but you didn't flinch. Your fingers continued scrolling through your phone, searching for flight tickets. You didnât care where it would take youâanywhere but here.
Sukuna stepped inside, his expression a mix of confusion and panic. You didnât look up. Your face remained calm, almost eerily so, as if you were in a trance. You kept scrolling, your focus entirely on the screen, like it was the only thing anchoring you to reality.
âWhere are you going?â he asked, his voice tight with panic. But you said nothing.
Your face was expressionless, your eyes fixed on your phone. He moved closer, desperate now. âPlease,â he continued, âcanât we just⊠talk?â
Finally, you paused, letting out a slow, controlled breath. But you didnât look at him. Your silence was deafening, more unnerving than any yelling or screaming could have been.
He swallowed hard, sensing the change, feeling the weight of your silence pressing down on him. âI⊠I didnât mean for this to happen,â he tried again. "I donât even remember what happened. I think I was drugged or something..." His voice grew softer, almost pleading now.
You continued to tap the screen, the sound of your fingers the only noise in the room. You found a flight and pressed "book," moving methodically, as if this was just another task on a list. Your calmness was unnerving, like the quiet before a storm.
âY/N⊠please,â Sukuna whispered, taking another step forward, but your detachment made him falter.
You finally glanced up at him, your expression unreadable, your voice steady and calm. âI'm leaving,â you said quietly, as if stating a simple fact.
He blinked, stunned by the flatness of your tone. There was no anger, no emotionâjust a cold, stark finality. âBut⊠we can work this out,â he stammered, âright?â
You looked back at your phone, as if he were no longer even there. You were done listening, done hoping, done believing. His words were just noise now, meaningless in the face of everything he had broken.
Sukuna was a big man, another reason you had fallen in love with him. Being with him had made you feel so safe, so happy. But when you reached for your suitcase, he finally broke.
He snatched it out of your hand. "No, no, you're not leaving me," he insisted, his voice frantic. "Look, please just listen. I know I lied to you and snuck out, but I swear I would never cheat on you."
You stood still, watching him, his large frame towering over you, his eyes wide with fear and desperation. But your heart felt like ice. You could see the panic in his eyes, hear the tremor in his voice, but it didnât matter. Not anymore.
His hands gripped the suitcase so tightly that his knuckles turned white. "Please," he begged again, "just⊠donât go."
For a moment, you almost felt somethingâa flicker of the love you used to feel. But it was gone as quickly as it came. âLet go,â your voice is calm and steady.
âNo, look, I would do anything,â he blurted out, his voice rising with desperation. âOkay, I see now why you donât like my friends. Iâll cut them out. I wonât ever talk to another girl again. Just⊠anything. Tell me what to do, and Iâll do it. Please.â
He was a mess, still hungover, his head pounding, his hands trembling. His breath came in ragged gasps as he struggled to keep it together, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. He looked so close to breaking down completely.
Why did he make this mistake? Why did he let himself slip up so badly? You had given him a chance, and he had blown it in mere hours. The realization seemed to dawn on him, his face twisting with guilt and regret. His shoulders sagged, and his voice broke. "I donât want to lose you,â he whispered, his tone raw with fear.
But it didnât matter anymore. Whatever he was offering now felt hollow, too little, too late. Your heart felt heavy, but your mind was made up.
"Let go," you repeated, firmer this time, your eyes locking onto his.
Sukuna's hand fell away from the suitcase as if it weighed a ton, his breath hitching. He wanted to fight, to argue, but the defeat in your eyes left him lost. âIâm so sorry,â he mumbled, his voice almost inaudible, choking on his own words.
But all you did was nod, a small, almost imperceptible nod, and turn toward the door.
He stood there, his whole world crumbling, as you walked away.
Hello, I made this blog solely to publish this fan fiction I wrote because the idea for the plot has been tugging at the back of my mind for months. I tried requesting it from a few writers but since they didnât write it I remained unsatisfied. Then I remembered I also do have the ability to write.
Pairing: Oscar x named!female character
Plot: Oscar's new relationship is strained by his family's constant reminders of his ex, Lily, and he fails to notice how this is affecting his girlfriend.
Tag: angst, hurt/no comfort, sad ending.
Word count: 2989
Disclaimers: english is not my first language - I feel like you could tell from my writing style - so I apologize if some of the sentences structures are off, or if I use outdated or inappropriate-for-the-context words, I used a synonym dictionary to try and stop myself from repeating the same words, I still did do that though. I also havenât written any work of fiction since I was a teenager, so this could be bad, I just had a need to get this fan fiction out of my brain. And once I wrote it, it felt like a waste to keep it on my laptop.
The new girlfriend has a name as I wasnât able to write this without a name, I apologize, I made it a shorter name so it can be skimmed over. There is no physical description of them.
I would like to explain that I do not think that Oscar's family would behave this way. This idea came from watching Nicole's interview in which she spoke highly about Lily and an unrelated conversation that day about families still speaking about and with ex-girlfriends.
Oscar sat in his motorhome, absentmindedly scrolling through social media notifications and posts. He wasnât really paying attention to them. His mind was already on the track, anticipating the feel of the car and revising the strategies for the weekend. But, even as he tried to focus on the race ahead, something distracted him at the back of his mind. Something he couldnât quite put his finger on yet, something that had been running in his head for weeks.
Across from him, Mia sat quietly, going through her phone, though he knew it wasnât holding her attention either. She hadnât said much all day, her silence stretching thin between them like a thread on the verge of snapping. It wasnât like her. At least, it wasnât like how she used to be. When they first met, Mia had been a burst of energy, her laughter infectious, her smile like a safe heaven that had pulled him out of the chaos of being a public figure. But now⊠something had changed.
"Oscar, did you hear what I said?" Miaâs voice was soft, almost hesitant, her eyes searching his face for any sign that he had been paying attention to what she had been saying. But he hadn't.
Oscar blinked, eyes tearing away from his phone. "Sorry, darling. What did you say?"
Mia smiled, a small, strained smile that didnât reach her eyes. "I was asking if you wanted to go out for dinner later. You know, somewhere quiet, just the two of us. I found this placeâŠ"
Oscar nodded absentmindedly, his attention already drifting away. "Yeah, sure. Sounds good."
Mia noticed his lack of attention, but she didnât press the issue. She had grown used to his distracted responses over the past few months, so she just sat there, her fingers gripping her phone a little too tightly, and the silence between them growing heavier. It had been like this for a while nowâOscar lost in his racing, and Mia fading quietly into the background, unnoticed.
It wasnât always like this. There was a time when his attention had been solely hers, when Oscar had looked at her with the kind of focus he reserved for the track. Lately, though, she had started to feel like she was slipping out of view, like she was losing her place in his world. And Oscar, so wrapped up in his career, didnât see it. Not yet.
It had started subtly, in ways Mia hadnât been able to notice at first. When she had met Oscar, she knew this relationship wouldnât have resembled her previous ones; she was stepping into a world of fame, pressure, and expectations. But she had been prepared for thatâat least, she thought she had been.
The first time she had met Oscarâs family had been over a casual dinner. Nicole had been polite, her eyes studying Mia a little closely but never purely cold. And then there were his sisters, who seemed stuck between curiosity and indifference, their questions friendly but calculated.
It wasnât until halfway through the meal that Mia first heard the name.
âDo you remember when Lily got us pizza in Monza?â Hattie had asked with a deliberate tone, her gaze flickering toward Oscar.
Mia had frozen for a second, her fork suspended midair. Lily. She had heard the name before, of course, Oscar had talked about her, the ex-girlfriend who had been with him through his early career. Mia hadnât worried about her, assuming she was just part of his past.
âOh, yeah,â Mae chimed in, laughing. âFrom that little family-run restaurant, right? God, I miss that place.â
Nicole smiled, her eyes lighting up. âLily was always so thoughtful. She always knew how to make us feel at home, no matter where we were.â
Miaâs chest tightened, the casual and affectionate mention of Lily, compared to how she had been addressed throughout the evening, slicing through the conversation like a shard of ice. She forced herself to smile, to nod along, pretending it didnât bother her. But it did more than she wanted to admit.
Oscar had shifted uncomfortably beside her, clearing his throat. âYeah, Lily was greatâ he had said quickly, then tried to change the subject. But the damage was done. The ghost of Lily hung over the rest of the evening like a shadow, lingering at the edges of every conversation and Miaâs mind.
As the months passed, Mia couldnât shake the feeling that she was living in someone elseâs place, that no matter how much Oscar claimed to love her, no matter how much she tried to integrate herself into his life, she was no comparison to Lily. It wasnât that his family was blatantly rude towards her, they were kind, but there was a warmth in their voices when they spoke about Lily that they didnât extend to Mia.
Every race weekend, every family gathering, even every private moment with Oscar was tainted in her mind by the weight of someone elseâs ghost.
It wasnât until one afternoon in Monaco, when Mia stumbled across the ring, that the full weight of it hit her.
She had been tidying the bedroom while Oscar was out, taking advantage of the free time to clean their apartment, cleaning up a drawer of old clothes when she found itâa small, velvet box. Her heart had skipped a beat as she opened it, revealing a stunning diamond ring.
Her breath caught in her throat.
She wasnât unrealistic, Mia knew this wasnât meant for her, her relationship with Oscar still too young to warrant a proposal. No. This ring wasnât for her. It had been bought for someone else. For Lily.
Mia closed the box with trembling hands, her chest tightening as the realization washed over her. Oscar had been planning to marry Lily. He had been ready to propose, to make her his wife, to share his life with her in a way that as of lately Mia wasnât sure he would ever want to with her.
She had never brought it up to Oscar. She couldnât. How could she confront him about something like this? How could she admit that she had found evidence of a future he had once planned with someone else, a future that might have happened if things hadnât fallen apart between them?
From that day on, the weight of it pressed down on her like a constant reminder. She tried to ignore it, to push the self doubt away, to remind herself it was all part of the past. But every time Oscarâs family mentioned Lily, every time they talked about her like she was still part of their world, Mia felt herself slipping further away from the confident, energetic woman she had once been.
The Monaco GP was supposed to be a new start. Mia had somewhat convinced herself that her doubts were unreasonable, that her presence in Oscarâs life was concrete. She had been trying so hard to convince her mind, to smile through the subtle slights, to act as if Lilyâs constant presence in conversations didnât bother her. But Monaco was different. Monaco was where everything changed.
The paddock was buzzing with energy as usual, the yachts in the harbor reflecting the morning sun. Mia stood beside Oscar, her hand in his as they made their way through the crowd. Fans called out to him, snapping photos, but Mia barely noticed. Her attention was elsewhereâon the small group standing near the McLaren garage.
There stood Oscarâs family. And Lily.
Mia felt her heart skip at the sight. Lily was just standing there, laughing with Nicole, looking as comfortable and at ease as she had in all the stories Mia had had to listen to in the past months. She was so effortlessly beautiful, with an air of confidence that Mia had always admired but now found unbearable.
Nicoleâs eyes found Oscar, lighting up as she waved him over. âOscar, darling! Come say hello.â
Mia felt herself stiffen, her stomach twisting into knots. Oscar hesitated for a moment, glancing at Mia before offering her a quick, apologetic smile. âIâll just be a minute,â he murmured, squeezing her hand before walking over to his family. To her.
Mia couldnât bring herself to do anything but watch as he greeted them, his interactions with Lily casual but friendly, too friendly in her doubt filled mind. It was like watching him slip into an old role, a role he played with ease, with a counterpart Mia couldnât quite replace.
They talked for what felt like hours, though it had only been minutes. Mia stood there, frozen as her heart pounded in her chest as she watched Oscar laugh at something Lily said, as his mother beamed at them, as if this was how things were supposed to be. As if Mia was the outsider, the intruder in a story that had never been hers to begin with.
That night, the silence in their room was deafening.
Oscar had been talking about the race, but Mia hadnât been able to focus. She hadnât really said much all weekend, her responses short and her mind elsewhere.
âMia?â Oscar called, his brows furrowed as he looked at her. âIs everything okay?â
She just stared at him for a moment, unsure of how to put her thoughts into words, unsure of how to explain the feelings that had made a home in her mind. âOscar⊠Do you ever think about her?â
He frowned, confused. âWho?â
âLily,â Mia whispered, voice barely audible. âDo you still think about her? About⊠what could have been?â
Oscar blinked, startled by the question. âMia, no. Of course not. Iâm with you now.â
She shook her head, as she fought her anxiety and tried to gather the courage to say what had been haunting her mind for months. "You say that, Oscar, but⊠it feels like Iâm always competing with her, against her presence in your life. And I donât know how to stop feeling like Iâm constantly fighting against someone whoâs not even here anymore."
Oscarâs expression softened as he stepped toward her, one of his hands reaching out to gently cup her face. "Mia, you are not. I don't think about Lily like that anymore. That part of my life is over."
"Is it?" Miaâs voice cracked, her eyes searching his for the reassurance she so desperately needed. "Because Iâm not sure your family feels the same way. They still talk about her, still invite her to races. Nicole talks about her like she could still be a part of your life, like she is supposed to be a part of your life. And Oscar⊠I found the ring."
Oscarâs hand dropped from her face, his eyes widening in shock. "What ring?"
"The one in your drawer," Mia said, her voice trembling. "The engagement ring. The one you bought for her."
Oscar froze, his breath catching in his throat. "Mia⊠I didnât mean for you to find that. IâI should have gotten rid of it a long time ago."
"Why didnât you?" she asked. "Why didnât you get rid of it if you had moved on? You kept it, Oscar, that has to mean something. And every time she is brought up, every time I notice her presence still somewhat in your life, I feel like Iâll never be good enough. Like Iâm standing in her shadow, no matter what I do."
Oscar sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair as he sat on the edge of the bed. "Mia, I didnât keep the ring because I still have feelings for her. I kept it because⊠I never knew what to do with it. You are right, I did want to propose to Lily at some point, I couldnât see that our relationship was dying, I was trying to deny it. But I didnât propose in the end. I realized it wasnât right. I never told you because I didnât want to hurt you."
Mia hugged herself, staring at the floor. "But it does hurt now, Oscar. And it hurts every time they bring her up, every time they talk about how perfect she was, how much they loved her. It feels like Iâm just⊠filling a spot thatâs still meant for her."
Oscar stood up and reached for her again, his voice carrying an underlying urgency. "Mia, youâre not filling a space. I love you. I want to be with you. I thought you knew that."
"I thought I did too," she whispered, tears filling her eyes. "But⊠I donât know anymore. And I feel like Iâm losing myself trying to live up to the memory of someone Iâm not while you didnât even notice how much itâs been affecting me."
Oscarâs heart sank as he took in her words, the weight of his and his familyâs actions finally settling on his shoulders. He had known that they still cared for Lily, but he hadnât understood how much it had been hurting Mia. And he hadnât noticed how distant she had become, how her bright light had started to dim under the constant comparisons.
He sat back down, hands resting in his lap as he stared at the floor. "Mia, Iâm sorry. I didnât realize⊠I didnât know it was this bad."
Mia took a deep, shaky breath, tears staining her face. "You didnât. I donât know if I can keep doing this, Oscar. I love you, so much so that I have been willing to hurt myself to be with you, but I canât keep feeling like Iâm not enough. Like Iâll never be enough."
Oscar looked up at her, desperation in his eyes at the implications of her words. "You are enough, Mia. Youâve always been enough."
She shook her head, wiping her eyes. "If I was enough, your family wouldnât still be holding onto Lily. They wouldnât be talking about her like sheâs still the one for you⊠They wouldnât make me feel like Iâm always in second place in a one person competition."
Oscar felt his throat tighten, his guilt and frustration rising to the surface. He had been so focused on his career, on the races, that he hadnât noticed how much this had been affecting Mia. And now, standing in front of him, she looked so lost, so hurt, that he wasnât sure how to fix it.
"Iâll talk to them," he said, his voice firm. "Iâll make sure they understand. They canât keep doing this to youâto us. Iâll set boundaries. I donât want to lose you, Mia."
Miaâs gaze softened for a moment, but the pain in her eyes was still there. "Itâs not just about them, Oscar. Itâs about how Iâve been feeling invisible, like I donât matter as much in your life. I donât know if talking to them will change how I feel about myself now. I donât know if itâll be enough to fix this."
Oscarâs heart clenched. He could see the cracks in their relationship now, the ones he had been too blind to notice before. And he realized, with a sinking feeling, that this wasnât something he could just fix with a few words or promises. This was deeper.
"What do you want me to do?" he asked quietly, his voice almost breaking. "Tell me what I can do to make this right."
Mia stood there for a long moment, staring at him, the weight of the decision she had come to after months of suffering heavy on her shoulders. She loved him, she had given everything to this relationship, but the constant reminders of his past with Lily had killed her confidence, her sense of security.
"I thinkâŠ" she began, her voice shaky, "I think I need some time. Time to figure out if I can keep doing this, if I can keep being in this relationship without losing myself further."
Oscar felt a chill run through him at her words. "Mia, please donât say that. Donât say youâre leaving."
"Iâm not leaving," she clarified, though the look in her eyes betrayed her uncertainty of their future. "But I need space. I need time to think about whatâs best for me, because right now⊠I donât feel like Iâm good for you. And I donât feel like this is good for me."
Oscarâs chest tightened painfully as he stepped toward her, his hands trembling as he reached for hers. "I love you. I donât want to lose you."
Tears spilled from Miaâs eyes again as she looked down at their hands. "I love you too, Oscar. But love isnât enough if I donât feel like I belong in your life. If I donât feel like your family accepts me. Like I can accept myself."
He swallowed hard, fighting his own tears. "Iâll make them understand. Iâll fight for us."
She pulled her hands away gently, taking a step back. "I need to fight for myself first."
Oscar felt the floor drop from under him as Mia turned toward the door. She paused for a moment, her hand resting on the doorknob, before looking back at him with tears in her eyes.
"Please donât hate them," she whispered. "I know they didnât mean to hurt me. But⊠they did. And I donât know how to fix that."
And with that, she slipped out of the room, out of the apartment, leaving Oscar standing alone, silence deafening around him. The weight of his familyâs actions, of his own inaction, pressed down on him.
He had always thought he could balance everythingâhis career, his family, his relationshipâbut now, as the door closed behind Mia, he realized that he had been wrong. He had been so focused on winning races, on making his family happy, that he hadnât seen the cracks forming beneath the surface of his relationship and in the heart of the woman he loved.
And now, he wasnât sure if he would ever get her back.

Summer jobs were a studentâs worst enemy. The desperation of wanting money to go on a trip with friends led anyone to get the first job they could get their hands on. Thatâs how you end up at your friend's boyfriend's mechanic shop. Sohee told you about his shop when she found out you were looking for summer jobs to get money for your long-planned trip and knew her boyfriend was looking for employees. Everyone who knew you well enough knew you had a special love for cars and were good at fixing some car-related problems. Ever since you were a little child you were always running behind your father when he did some fixing around his car and as you grew up you learned a few things, enough to have friends call you occasionally to fix their cars. You were a little hesitant to accept this job, you had never fixed any big thing in a car and this job looked like it required more knowledge than you had, still after considering how much you needed the money you accepted your friendâs offer.Â
Sohee explained that only a few people were working around and they were all her boyfriendâs, Heeseung, friends. Heeseung, who ran the shop, does any kind of job around and fixes business and partnership offers, Jungwon worked during the weekends in class months and worked full time during summer break and usually worked in simple things like changing tires and cleaning the cars, Sunghoon who polishes the cars along with Sunoo who also paints and wraps them, Jay worked with changing heavy car pieces and finally, Ni-ki who was friends with all of them and the youngest amongst them all, was also doing this as a summer job and he was in charge of painting costume designs in cars. The 6 of them formed a friend circle along with another one, Jake â who didnât seem to be working here since he most likely didnât need to, seeing that he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and has always been more privileged than the rest of them in Soheeâs words.
Putting on your jacket and grabbing your keys you made your way out. The weather was hot and you were already regretting putting a jacket on as soon as you entered your car and felt how hot it was inside. You started the car, turned the ac on, waited until you could breathe properly, and felt like you wouldnât melt in the car seat. You grabbed your phone and pasted the mechanic shop address in the GPS app. It wasnât too far from your house, which you were grateful for since it meant you didnât need to wake up extra early to reach the shop in time. The drive was quiet, the traffic was low, and deep down you wished it was high just so you could have time to calm your nerves. The app indicated that you were a minute away so you looked around the street until you spotted a sign that read Gearbox Garage. You made a turn and pulled into the small driveway the shop had to park cars. You turned your car off and took a deep breath as you pulled your keys out and got out of the car. You walked to the front of the shop and it looked empty, making you think that maybe you shouldâve given Heeseung a call before coming. Looking at the time on your phone, it marked 2:30 pm meaning they could be on lunch break. You walked into the shop and looked around, the shop was well organised for a mechanic shop, it wasnât as dirty as you expected it to be but small oil puddles and thrown cloths could be seen here and there. There were only a few cars, not that you expected more since the place wasnât the biggest. Taking one more look around, you saw a door with a sign that said staff only, you walked towards it and knocked, hoping somebody would open it and it would be Heeseung. You waited a few seconds until a tall man opened it with a sandwich in his hand and sauce and bread crumbs in the sides of his mouth. He looked at you with a confused expression as he leaned in the doorway.
âUm Iâm here to talk with Heeseung, Iâm friends with his girlfriend and she told me heâs looking for one more person to work here so-â you were cut off as the man walked away and shouted, âHeeseung hyung, thereâs someone for you!â a faint coming could be heard in the distance as another figure started approaching the door. Said Heeseung appears in front of you. âSo you must be the y/n Soheeâs always talking about?â he said looking at you with an extended hand, waiting for you to shake it. You took his hand in yours as you shook it, hoping he didnât notice how sweaty it was from your nerves. âAh yeah, thatâs me! Iâm assuming she told you how I wanted the job, right?â âOh yes, she did tell me about it and I just need you to answer a few questions to know whether you can get the job is that ok?â Shit, smile and nod y/n. You quickly nodded at his words, hoping he wouldnât ask if you knew how to do complex things. âI just need to know what kind of things you can fix or have done.â âOh! I have done quite a few things, Iâve changed oils, fixed engine chains, changed batteries, changed tires and other small fixes.â you nodded and fiddled nervously with your fingers, silently hoping this was enough to have him accept you to this job. Heeseung nodded and slightly smiled at your words and extended his hand again. You looked at his hands and then at him and he laughed at your confusion. âSeems like youâre our newest employee, welcome!â you let out a breath of relief and shook his hand again. âOh my god, thank you so much! I promise I'll try my best.â you said firmly as you offered him a smile. âNo need to thank me. We really need one or two more employees so youâre big help right now. Anyways, you can start maybe tomorrow at 9 am?â âOh sure, I can, see you tomorrow then!â Heeseung nodded at you and went back to the staff room as you made your way out to your car.
As soon as you sat in your car you immediately texted Sohee, thanking her for having such a nice boyfriend. You put your phone down and sigh happily. You got the job now, what could go wrong? Now you just need to focus on working hard and getting that money to go on that trip.
The sound of your alarm made you stir awake. You groaned as you stretched out and let your arms fall limp in bed with a loud thump. You closed your eyes as you let out a sigh, getting mentally ready for your first day at work. Getting out of bed, you made your way to the bathroom to take your morning shower. You turned the water on and let it warm a little bit before you went in. The warm water felt relaxing against your skin, an almost therapeutic feeling. As you washed yourself you started thinking about how would your first day at work, hoping you wouldnât embarrass yourself in front of the rest of the boys and could get along with them. Now, it wasnât like you had a hard time making friends, quite the opposite. Still, you were always a little awkward when you first met people, all thanks to your constant overthinking, never knowing if people enjoyed talking to you or not. You could say you had a pretty vast friend group but you werenât as close with anyone as you were with Sohee. She has been your best friend for as long as you can remember. Sheâs been there for you anytime you needed and you for her. Sohee was the one who helped you come out of your comfort zone and try new things. Without her, you wouldnât enjoy your teenage years as much as you did, hell, if it wasnât for her you wouldnât even dream of going on the damn trip.
You got out of the shower and stepped in front of the mirror, wiping some of the steam off of it. You started doing your normal skincare routine that, normally, would be a relaxing moment for you, but now you were only thinking about how you could be getting ready to head to the beach with your friends and drink a cocktail while tanning, and now you were only harshly rubbing the products on your face with irritation. Taking a deep breath you moved to your room to finish getting ready so you could leave the house as soon as you could. You looked in the mirror, taking in your appearance one last time before leaving the house, not that the way you looked right now mattered because you were more than sure that sooner or later you would be covered in oil and car fluids so you opted for your old overalls with an old shirt underneath.
The drive downtown was quiet and easy-going, still, there was some traffic since everyone started their work around the same time. The carâs clock indicated that it was 8:50, making you relieved that you werenât gonna be late on your first day of work. Making the already familiar last turn, you reached the shop, parking in the lot it had inside. You got out of the car and instantly felt the slight summer breeze that ran through the morning air. Walking inside the shop, you could already hear some shuffling going on around the shop. As you got in further, you saw Heeseung who probably hasnât noticed your presence yet from his crouched position, cleaning up some tools and putting them in a separate box.Â
âGood morning, Hee!â you greeted, startling him. He got up and turned to face you with a surprised expression. âOh hey, y/n! Wasnât expecting you to be this early, though.â He said, chuckling as he wiped his hands with a cloth. âWell, you know, didnât wanna be too late on my first day of work, I guess,â you said, swinging yourself back and forth, avoiding his gaze, feeling kinda awkward with yourself for worrying so much about being on time. âUsually the other boys come super late since they come all together so you shouldnât worry about being on time here. Also, weâre supposed to be all friends here, so donât put too much pressure on yourself about working here, itâs all chill here!â Heeseung said, trying to reassure and comfort you. âI guess itâs just a matter of time for me to get used to it.â you clapped your hands behind your back as you finished talking. âAnyways, should I start working?â you suggested. âOh, yeah. Actually, thereâs a car that needs an oil change, so maybe you could start by doing that.â Heeseung said, pointing to a red car that was already up in the hydraulic lift. âSure thing!â
You put on some gloves that Heeseung gave you and started getting to work. Changing oil was something you did quite a lot, it was one of the first things your dad taught you, something that was so hard for you back then is now a piece of cake for you. Having a passion for cars made learning things way easier for you. Obviously, this old passion of yours wasnât seen as a good thing for some people. Some would tell you girls shouldnât be working with cars as it was the role for the boys or that you should be playing with your dolls instead of getting in your dadâs way while he was fixing his car. Of course, your little kid self felt awful hearing such things, but your parents would always reassure you that it didnât matter what they said and that it was okay to want to learn those things. As time went by, people stopped commenting less and less. As you grew up you learned how to stand up for yourself and you wouldnât leave those people without a response, and with time they learned how to mind their own business.
As you waited for the oil to fully drain, you heard a car pull up in the parking lot and the rest of the five boys arrived together, just as Heeseung had mentioned previously. You got up from your kneeling position and turned to look at them as they all got in and greeted Heeseung. Their loud voices quickly filled the place that was once only filled by the quiet tunes from Heeseungâs playlist and the occasional clanking of tools hitting the floor. You went back to work as they all talked with each other and started getting ready to work. You heard steps coming in your direction, making you look back to where it came from, seeing Jungwon walking towards you with his dimples on display.
âGood morning, y/n! You know itâs weird seeing someone whoâs not Heeseung working here this early.â Jungwon said as he walked towards you, chuckling to himself. Stopping what you were doing, you turned all your attention to him. âGuess someone needed to give him some company, no?â you said putting your hands on your hips. âKeep going like that and he might give you the âemployee of the monthâ title,â he said, making you laugh at him. âAnyways, what are you doing?â he asked, nodding at the car above you on the lift. âOh, changing some oil, was about to put a new filter on.â you said as you pointed at the carâs oil pan, âShouldnât you get to work as well?â you asked, raising an eyebrow at him, making him scowl at you. âDonât remind me, Heeseung gave me a shit ton of cars to clean, got work for a whole week,â he said rolling his eyes. Jungwon walked away to start working on his cleaning duty and you put your focus back on the oil filter.
Soon enough, it was lunchtime and the seven of you were all gathered in the staff room. You were all talking about multiple things and something that came to conversation was how they had never seen you around campus.
âI mean, I guess Iâm not necessarily a social butterfly and we might not even have classes in the same place, so that might explain why we never crossed paths.â you explained as you ate some of your tuna-mayo wrap you brought from home, they all hummed in agreement. âWhat are you majoring in, though?â Sunghoon asked you as he looked up from his lunchbox. âOh, I study computer science!â âOh really? Then you must know Jake? Jake Sim? He shares a few classes with comp sci studentsâ Heeseung asked, surprised to know you were in the same major as his best friend. You hummed in thought as the name sounded familiar. âIt does ring a bell but Iâm not really adding a face to the name though.â You said slightly tilting your head to the side as you tried your best to remember who the hell was Jake Sim. âYeah, letâs just say his attendance isnât exactly the highestâŠâ Heeseung said as he hissed quietly. âOh⊠yeah that must explain why I donât remember him then.â You said chuckling. âDonât misunderstand it. Itâs not like he doesnât care about classes, I mean he kinda doesnât, but he is much more focused on football.â Heeseung paused as if he was in deep thought. âJake knows if anything school-related goes wrong for him he can just take over his dadâs business, which most likely will happen.â You hummed, understanding what he meant. Â
It wasnât rare for jocks like Jake to skip classes and ignore the fact that they need to graduate. Still, some of them were lucky to have successful family businesses, like Jake was. His father was one of the most prestigious CEOs and businessmen of Seoul and even the whole of South Korea. He led one of the most famous costume software development companies around, starting in a small office in Seoul that, over the years, grew all over the countryâs most famous districts. Jake obviously was following his fatherâs steps, deciding to follow the computer science field so one day he could take over his fatherâs business. Was this his dream? No. Did he really wanna be a future CEO? Also no. He was doing this solely because he knew his dad would never approve of his younger son pursuing a football career. His older brother, Jaewoo, was already following the business field and Jake was just expected to do the same as him and since the older sibling decided not to work in his fatherâs company, he was the last hope to keep the business going so he felt like he had no other option. He felt suffocated knowing that everyone had high expectations for him, having people constantly asking him if he was happy to know he would take over the oh-so successful business, to which he obviously smiled and nodded but deep down he felt mad, almost furious, that people only expected him to do that. No one ever asked him about football, even though everyone knew he was good and even the best in the team and could grow so much more in that field if it werenât for people like them who only cared about status and money. Thatâs not who Jake wants to become, selfish and greedy.
The day came to an end, the sky had a pink and orange hue to it, creating a beautiful painting, pleasing and conforming to gaze at. You started organizing all the tools you had used, placing them in their respective place in the toolbox Heeseung had lent you. Distant chattering could be heard from the other boys playing around as they had also finished their work for the day. You were walking towards the bathroom to wash your hands when you heard someone call your name.Â
âHey, y/n!â You looked back to see Sunghoon, who called you, and the rest of the guys looking at you. âCome out for dinner with us, weâre going to the barbeque place downtown.â âUm, I donât know guys, itâs gonna get late and we have work again tomorrowâŠâ You said, scratching the back of your neck, suddenly feeling shy, not being used to going out with people you barely knew. âOh come on, to celebrate your first day being one of us! Itâs on Heeseung tonight!â Ni-ki said patting the older man on the back, who was about to complain but quickly agreed with the younger one as he felt him pinching him. âYeah, y/n, donât even worry about coming late tomorrow.â Your eyes flickered between all of them until you decided to agree with them, realizing that maybe you need to loosen up a little and stop being such a pussy. You sighed, nodding your head at them âOk, fine! But Iâm not paying!â You said raising your hands. The boys cheered dramatically, making you roll your eyes but laugh nonetheless. âAnyways, Iâm going home to get ready, just text me later with the address.â Everyone bid their goodbyes and you made your way back to your car, ready to go home.
As you entered your house, your mom came to greet you, kissing your cheek in the process. âHey, dear. How was your first day at work?â she asked you, grabbing your jacket and putting it into the coat hanger at your entrance. âOh, it actually went really well. Wasnât expecting to work as much as I did, but Iâm proud that I could do that much.â âAh, you must be so tired, honey! Was the lunch I made enough? Oh, maybe I shouldâve-â âMom,â you said laughing âIt was more than enough, donât worry about it, ok?â you reassured her, rubbing her arms that rested on her side as she looked tense. âAnyways, they all invited me to dinner so Iâm gonna shower and get ready.â You kissed her cheek and ran upstairs towards your room.
Dinner yesterday went smoothly. All your worries about not being able to get along with them were quickly thrown away when you found yourself talking with them like youâve known them for ages. The night was filled with laughter, maybe because of the funny stories being shared or maybe it was the alcohol that everyone- except Ni-ki- had consumed. You were glad you were able to let yourself loose and enjoy the night to the max, you couldnât remember the last time you had that much fun since you were always so busy with college and finals were kicking your ass. The last thing you remember doing that night was texting Sohee that you had gotten home safely and you had enjoyed the night.
Now you were waking up with the buzz of your alarm, opening your eyes only to close them right away when the bright sun rays hit your face. You sat up on the bed, feeling your head pound making you hiss at the strong feeling. You got up and walked to the bathroom scolding yourself to never drink on a work night again.
Driving to work today was painful, no matter how strong the medicine you took was or how much orange juice you drank, the pounding headache you got was not going away and the dark circles under your eyes also werenât a very pleasant sight to see so you opted to wear a pair of sunglasses. You looked at the time and it marked 9:40 am, definitely not on time but no one could really blame you for being extra slow today and your mom also made sure to take a few more minutes from your time to scold you about being late out and drinking when you had work the next day.
Arriving at the shop, you saw everyone already there making you sigh, hating yourself for being the last one arriving at work. Walking inside you saw that no one was working, instead, they were all sitting at a table near the entrance, some of them laying their head down on the table and others drinking energy drinks to be able to go on with their day. âI donât even know if itâs safe to say good morning.â you said sitting down next to them, plopping down on the chair, hissing at the quick movement that made the pounding sensation in your head stronger. No one was able to say anything so you were all sitting down in silence, looking at the cars driving by the shop. Any passer-by would think you had nothing to do when in fact there was way too much to do than any of you could.Â
âRemind me to never do this again, please.â Jungwon said referring to going out until late, making everyone hum in agreement. Suddenly, Heeseung gets up, clapping his hands and then rubbing them together âLetâs get to work. These cars arenât gonna fix themselves.â Everyone groaned at the older manâs words, some complaining, saying it would be fair to take a day one, only receiving Heeseungâs glare in return. âAnyways, y/n, I know you just got here, but I really need you to do me a favour,â Heeseung said, turning to you. You stared at him through your glasses in response âPretty please?â He said lacing his hands together, making you sigh and roll your eyes. âOh my god, fine! What is it then?â You said putting your hand on your hip with a sigh. âI need you to go downtown to pick up a parcel at the post. It has some pieces that I need for the car I'm fixing.â You said nothing in return aside from an Iâll be back soon as you entered the car.
The drive back to the shop was awful, you were stuck in traffic for almost an hour and about to burst in anger. âIf it wasnât for Heeseung and his stupid parcelâŠâ you said, talking to yourself. When you arrived back at the shop you were more than ready to throw hands at Heeseung, if the parcel werenât so heavy you would be running in his direction. âI swear to God, Heeseung, if you ever, but ever make me go through all this traffic again, man, I swear on my life I wonât-â You stopped in your tracks when you saw what was in front of you. âOh my good God, what in the good earth, I- oh my goodness.â you dropped the parcel on the floor as you approached Sunghoon who was near the entrance. âHoon, please tell me Iâm not seeing things and my eyes arenât deceiving me.â You exclaimed, your eyes never moving away from the car in front of you. Sunghoon swore he never saw your eyes shining so brightly âHoon, is this a freaking Ford Mustang from â69?â you said in a high-pitched voice as your hands made their way to your face, cupping your cheeks. It wasnât until you heard a deep chuckle that you noticed a figure next to Sunghoon. You looked in the personâs direction and you were met with a beautiful, almost ethereal, face that was already looking at you, sporting a smirk, making you feel nervous under his strong gaze. Your eyes looked him up and down, noticing he was dressed in designer head to toe. His face was familiar to you but you couldnât grasp any memory with his face on it.
âYou like it?â he asked, nodding his head towards the car before you. You nodded at him with a hum, words suddenly stuck in your throat and you didnât even dare to try and speak, fearing your voice would fail you. He chuckled at you, finding amusement in your shy behaviour. âYou wanna touch it?â he asked raising his brow as his smirk turned into a beautiful grin. You felt your cheeks grow hotter than before and Sunghoon decided to intervene before Jake could keep going, sensing his suggestive undertone. âOk, thatâs enough for you two, geez!â he said rolling his eyes, before speaking again âAnyways, you can leave the car here and Heeseung or anyone will take care of it, you already know youâre in good hands here so no need to worry.â âAlright then, just call me when itâs done, yeah?â Jake said as he and Sunghoon dapped each other up before he left, not forgetting to wink and wave at you, to which you gave a small wave back. âKids these days.â Sunghoon said sighing and shaking his head at you, making you frown at him. âShut up!â you said slapping his arm as you walked past him to pick up the parcel you left on the floor.
You walked back inside the shop, finding Heeseung crouched on the floor as he cleaned some rims he just fixed. âHey Hee, got your parcel here. Do you want me to put it somewhere or should I just leave it here?â you said as you approached his figure âOh, you can just leave it in that chair, Iâm gonna need that in a while.â he said getting up as he wiped his forehead with his arm. âBy the way, Jakeâs car, the one in the entrance, needs to get the left view mirror changed, he broke it while parking somewhere. So, since I'm working on this car and itâs gonna take me a while, youâre going to be the one fixing it.â Oh! That was definitely interesting and caught your attention. âOh, sure, no problem. It shouldnât take too long.â This was only great. Not only were you fixing one of your dream and favourite cars but you were fixing a hot guy's car.Â
Later that day you arrived home with a happy sigh. Even though you were feeling extra tired from the hangover and work altogether, you could only think about your new acquaintance, a hot one. It has been a long time since youâve felt like this for someone or especially for a boy. After your most recent ex-boyfriend, you tried to focus more on yourself and your friends since he hadnât allowed you to do so. Those were times that were long gone and you wanted to erase them from your memory as you moved on.
You had dinner with your parents and went upstairs to get ready to go to bed earlier than usual to recover those lost hours of sleep. You showered and did your usual night routine, being extra careful and allowing yourself to relax. As you sat in bed, you grabbed your phone, seeing multiple notifications, since you donât use your phone during work, from texts from your friends and social media ones, but there was one that caught your attention. For a moment you thought you were having delusional visions, but as you clicked on it it took you directly to Jakeâs Instagram profile and the top showed the Accept and Decline button. He had found his way to your profile and it had you giggling silently, making you feel like you were in high school all over again. It had been about 3 hours since he sent the request so it was safe to accept without looking like a creep. Taking a deep breath to calm yourself, you proceeded to answer your texts and update Sohee on the tea, so you called her.
âSohee, I kid you not, he is so attractive, I canât!â you heard her sigh for the nth time on the phone, feeling her eye roll through the screen. âY/n, Iâve seen him plenty of times, and trust me, I know he is, but be careful, I heard some things about him, though.â âDonât worry about that, itâs just a silly crush. Iâll be over it sooner or later.â Sohee sighed again and you could hear her moving around in her bed sheets. âYeah, whatever. Weâll talk later. Heeseung is calling me.â After talking with Sohee you were left alone with your thoughts as you scrolled on your phone but you werenât really paying any attention to any of the posts, as you were thinking about Soheeâs warning. You decided to put your phone down and go to sleep to calm the thoughts running through your mind. As you were feeling yourself fall into a slumber, you heard your phone buzz but you chose to ignore it. You turn to the other side, getting comfortable to fall asleep again but again, your phone buzzes making you sit up and grab it aggressively. You turned it on, the bright light making you squint your eyes as you turned the brightness down. You unlocked it, checking who was texting at this hour. You felt your heart pound, getting nervous, as you saw Jake had dmed you. You click on his text, not caring if it had only been seconds from his last text.Â
simjaeyun_: hey :)                          11:37pm            Â
simjaeyun_: ignoring me now mnh?            11:46 pm   Â
youruser: stalking me now huh?               11:47 pm
youruser: didnât take for the stalker type tbh     11:47 pm
Your heart started beating quicker when you saw how fast he started typing an answer.
simjaeyun_: then what type do you take me to be? 11:48 pmÂ
youruser: well                              11:48 pm
youruser: definitely the one who makes other people stalk you not the other way around. 11:48 pmÂ

youruser: oh? did i now? Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 11:49 pm
simjaeyun_: maybe, find it out yourself :)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â 11:49 pm
You looked at the texts, feeling a soft blush creeping on your cheeks as you hugged your knees to your chest. You decided to leave him on read, not really having an answer to his text but Jake himself wasnât expecting to get one back. You looked at the ceiling, having lost all your sleep by now. You closed your eyes and sighed as you slid down your bed until you were laying down. You turned to the side, watching the moon from your window, which you usually left open since it helped you wake up. You closed your eyes, trying to sleep, as the image of the texts kept appearing in your head, keeping you awake for a while.
The next day you woke up, remembering last night's events, making you clutch your sheets closer to your chest. You sat up on the edge of the bed, as you sighed and rubbed your face with your hands, making your way to the bathroom to do your routine and maybe it would help you keep your thoughts away from him. You looked in the mirror as you brushed your teeth, glad to see your dark circles were already gone. You did your usual skincare routine and headed down to the kitchen to have breakfast, seeing your mom had made you some pancakes and a black coffee, which were placed neatly on the table where she was already eating.
âGood morning mom!â you greeted her with a smile as you sat in front of her. âGood morning, dear! Did you sleep well?â âOh yeah, I did! I went to sleep earlier to recover from the hangoverâŠâ She sighed at your words as she gave you a warning look, reminding you of her scolding. âIs there a special occasion for you to make me breakfast?â You asked as you took a bite of pancakes. âNot really, canât I be sweet for my daughter once in a while?â She answered and you squinted at her, knowing there was a reason behind it, she wasnât one to do these things just because. âYou came home smilier than usual. Anything special happened at work?â She asked, trying to sound as nonchalant as she could. You stopped your movement for less than a second but enough time for her to notice. âUm, not really, was just happy.â You said after taking a sip from your coffee and putting the mug down. âAre you sure it was just that?â She propped her elbows on the table with her hands intertwined, looking as if she was questioning you for a crime you did. âYes, mom. Iâm pretty sure.â She hummed, taking a sip from her tea. âIs that why you were squealing with Sohee on the phone last night?â You gasped at her words. âMom! Were you eavesdropping on me?â You asked her shocked that she had heard you talking with Sohee. âOh no, dear. You know Iâm not one to do that. I just happened to be walking past your room and heard you all excited about a certain- oh what was the name?â She stopped, trying to remember âOh! Jake! Yes, Jake. Now, you wanna tell me about that?â You blushed at her words as if you were caught doing something bad or she heard a secret of yours. âMom! No!â You said getting up from your chair, leaving a small bit of pancake on your plate. âIâm leaving. I need to go to work. Bye, love you!â You started walking faster, rushing to the door after picking up your house and car keys.
You entered the car, thinking about the conversation with your mom, reminding yourself to be more careful when talking with Sohee on the phone. You reached the shop just on time, parking your car in your usual place, which by now, you claimed as yours. You walked inside, seeing Heeseung and Ni-ki talking about something about a car.
âGood morning guys!â you greeted as you put your lunch bag down. They both looked back at you, seeming relieved you were finally there. âOh thank God youâre here.â Ni-ki sighed. âYeah, whatâs up?â You asked, intrigued as to what they needed you for. âSo, we were discussing car designs for me to do in the car Heeseung is taking care of, but the problem is that we canât agree on one design.â He started explaining as Heeseunf put his hands on his hips, rolling his eyes at the younger male. âSo tell me. in between these which one is better?â He finished, showing pictures of different designs. You hummed in thought as you looked carefully at the pictures and the car behind them. âI think for this car these two thick stripes would fit the best, but thatâs my opinion!â âSee! I told you! You wonât listen to me. Y/n, he wonât agree with me, please help me.â Ni-ki said as he put his hands together in a plea. âSorry, Hee. Gotta agree with him in this one.â Heeseung looked at you with a dumbfounded expression. âDonât fire me?â You said shrugging your shoulders at him. The older man rolled his eyes, sighing as he finally gave in. âFine, but only because it's two against one.â âYeah, sure. Whatever you say hyung.â Ni-ki said leaving the area, you looked at him shrugging at him, âKids these days.â he said under his breath in a mumble.Â
You grabbed your stuff from where you had previously put it and took it into the staff room. Coming back to the area, you grabbed some gloves and put them on, ready to start working on Jakeâs car. Heeseung had already put it in a space for you to fix it and besides it was a box with the side view mirror to replace to broken one. Youâve never changed a mirror before, but you remember one time when your dad did when your mom hit it on the wall while she was parking the car in the garage. It wasnât much of a hassle, it was easy and simple. You opened the carâs door and you were met with the beautiful interior, which Jake had most likely renovated into a more modern one, but still had a vintage touch to it. The car smelled like a manâs perfume, probably his own, mixed with a leathery scent that came from the beautiful black leather seats with red details. Snapping out of your daze with the carâs interior you went back to work. You started by carefully taking out the mirrorâs trim cover and removing the screws that were hidden.
As you were taking out the screws and putting them in a spare box, you felt a presence coming up behind you. Looking up, you found Sunghoon looking at you as he leaned on the car door. âHey there!â you said as you kept doing your work. âEnjoying yourself, huh?â He said with a smug smirk adorning his face, making you roll your eyes. âGo away Sunghoon.â You said but still, you had a smile on your face. âItâs nothing special.â you finished. âYou canât be saying that when you acted how you did yesterday when you saw the car, practically fangirling over it. I mean, not to mention how you were fangirling over Ja-â âShut up!â you said looking at him. âI wasnât, you were seeing things.â Sunghoon laughed at your behaviour. âCâmon, no need to act shy now.â He started âYou know, he texted me yesterday.â âOk? And why should i care?â You said raising a brow at him. âHe was asking me, or better, begging me to give him your Instagram.â You looked away from him as you felt your cheeks heat up. âI donât know why he would do that!â You said, pretending to be interested in those screws. âEh, youâll eventually find out, I guess.â He said making you look back at him. âWhat is that supposed to mean.â You asked suddenly interested in what he had to say. He started walking away, his back turned to you âNothing you should worry your pretty head about.â He answered, making you tilt your head, confused at his words. You sighed as you went back to working on that mirror.
It wasnât too long after your conversation with Sunghoon that little by little everyone started gathering in front of the staff-only door to eat lunch. You got up and joined Jungwon and Sunoo, who was engrossed in a conversation about the latest tea about someone on campus. You were so focused on observing and listening to them talk that you didnât notice an extra someone entering the shop until Jay mentioned it.
âJake? What are you doing here man?â That made your ears perk up, but you pretended to still be listening to the gossip you were previously listening to. âYour mirror still isnât fixed, so no luck for you today.â Heeseung said also greeting him with the handshake their group shared. You looked at them at the mention of the mirror, so it wouldnât look as suspicious. âYeah, I figured. Just wanted to join you guys for lunch.â He said raising his take-out bag. You heard someone gasp, looking you saw Ni-ki looking with heart eyes at the take-out bag. âIs that for us?â He said with his boxy smile. Everyone looked at Jake with hopeful eyes. âWhat? No, itâs mine! And no way in hell Iâm sharing this with you guys.â Jake said in a warning tone. Everyone groaned and rolled their eyes at him âYouâre literally no fun.â Sunoo said giving him a judging look. Jake simply shrugged as he looked around the room until his eyes met yours, making him bite back a smirk. Sunghoon, who was watching carefully and aware of the situation, nudged you slightly when Jake looked away, making you mouth a what? at him which he only answered with a smirk.
You all moved inside the staff room, sitting around the round table. Jake was sitting across from you and you were sitting in between Sunghoon and Ni-ki. Every time you looked up you would be met with Jakeâs eyes staring into you shamelessly, making you bounce your feet nervously. Your eyes drifted towards Sunghoon and you were able to see the smirk he was hiding with food while looking between you and Jake until he finally noticed you looking at him, making him raise his eyebrows at you to which you answered with a shrug as you looked back to your food. You wondered if Jake was going to talk to you anytime today. Since he arrived today he hadnât even spoken a word to you, not even a simple Hi, making you wonder if he was only the all-talk type through social media or if he just didnât have the guts to talk to you personally, but still, he had no problem flirting and teasing you when you guys first met.
Lunch was over and you got back to work. Jake hadnât gone away yet, lingering around the shop, mainly around Heeseung as they talked about things you couldnât listen to. The sudden realization that you were working on his car hit and you wondered if he was gonna approach you in a way. Snapping out of your thoughts, you went back to finish fixing the mirror, already more than halfway done. You were putting everything back in place, with the mirror already replaced, when you saw Jake walking towards you from your peripheral vision. You felt your breath hitch as your shoulders tensed the closer he got.
âI see you finally got to touch it, huh?â He said, putting his hands in his pockets. âOh! Yeah, I did.â You answered with an awkward laugh, feeling your palms getting sweaty. âLike what you felt, sweetheart?â Your eyes widen at that, suddenly feeling at a loss for words. You were more than sure if any other man wouldâve said that to you, you wouldâve cringed right away, but not when said man looked like Jake did. âI- well-â Jake started laughing, making you feel somewhat embarrassed. âIâm just playing around. Youâre not that shy through texting.â He said reminding you of how confident you may have sounded through texts. âWell, I guess itâs not the same as talking face-to-face, right?â You stated, looking up at him in the eyes. His mouth opened to say something but closed right away. âYeah, youâre right.â He took a breath in as he straightened his posture. âAnyways, is the mirror any close to being done?â He wondered. âOh yeah, actually I just need to test it and itâs all ready for you to take it home!â You said while smiling at him, proud that you were able to do something new quickly yet carefully. âOh really? You were pretty quick. Canât say Iâm not impressed, though, in a positive way, of course.â You giggled at him. âThanks, Jake. I appreciate that.â He smiled warmly at you, nodding your way as he walked away from you, leaving you alone to finish your work.
It was almost time to go home when Jake and Heeseung approached you next to Jakeâs car, where you were slightly bent over, as you were touching up some scratches near the mirror area with touch-up black paint. You finished the work, smiling proudly at yourself, as you turned around to face the two boys who were watching you silently as you worked. You sighed happily at them, adjusting the oversized overalls that you wore for work. âIâm officially done!â You exclaimed as you stretched an arm towards the car. Heeseung patted Jake in the back signaling him to get him and his car home. âYou can pay me later.â Heeseung said walking away, knowing if he stayed Jake would insist on paying. Jake sighed as he looked at you. âThank you for doing this, by the way.â He said with a smile, making you shrug. âYouâre welcome, Jake. After all, itâs my job.â You answered, looking down as you kicked non-existent rocks. Jake gave you a wide grin, watching your face, appreciating the way your lashes touched your cheeks when you blinked and how you bit your lip when you were nervous. âIâll see you tomorrow.â With that, he walked towards his car. âTomorrow?â You tilted your head to the side but you got no response as he got in his car. The engine purred as he drove out of the garage, leaving you standing dumbfounded. âWill I ever figure him out?â
Jake got home with only one thing, or rather someone, going through his mind. As clichĂ© as it felt for him, he couldnât understand what was in you that made him want to stay glued to you forever. He wanted to get to know you, know what you liked and disliked, and what were your hobbies. Did you have a pet? You didnât really look like you had one. As soon as he entered his penthouse, he made his way to his room, falling into his bed with a thud, sighing as he felt his head make contact with his fluffy pillows. He still could feel his heart thumping in his chest, quicker than it ever beat. It felt weird, a good weird. He liked the feeling. One he only ever felt with his high school crush who had rejected him in his junior year. Jake groaned out loud as his arm fell to his face, covering his eyes. âWhat have you done to me?â
The past week was full of work. Everyone barely interacted, focused on getting everyoneâs car fixed since itâs vacation season and everyone needed their car as soon as possible. Still, one thing everyone found weird was how Jake came to visit almost every day, something that never really happened through all these years everyone had worked there. Sunghoon always made sure to point out to you that Jake was always lingering close to you, making you give him annoyed remarks. Deep down you were glad he stood close to you as you got time to know him better and to your surprise he was more interesting than you ever thought a jock would be, no offence. You two would laugh with each other for hours until Heeseung needed to scold you to go back to work, hiding his smile as he watched you two playfully fight each other. His presence made work hours go by quicker and you started enjoying his presence a little bit too much, noticing the way your heart would beat a tad bit faster when you heard him laugh at something you said.
When you were done with work Jake would take you out and grab convenience store food for you two to eat in the park. It was in those moments that you both got vulnerable with each other, sharing all of your life stories, good and bad ones. Every night you call Sohee and rant about how scared you are of catching feelings for him, even though you knew you were already in deep, and she always reassured you that you shouldnât feel like that as itâs only natural and what has to happen, will happen. Whatever you were feeling with Jake, is something you never felt with anyone before, as clichĂ© as it can be, but your past dating history left a huge mark on you and you had a tendency to shut people out when they got too close, until now. The boys noticed a subtle shift in the way you and Jake interacted, but still, they only observed from afar, never intruding on whatever was happening between you two. It felt kind of weird for them to see Jake behaving that way around someone who wasnât part of his friend group or more specifically with a girl, but deep down they felt happy seeing their friend finally letting himself loosen up.
The day at the shop was going smoothly, it was a bad day of work for Heeseung. There were no clients coming up and everyone except him was sitting around playing cards or just talking to each other as he finished fixing one car. You were sat at a table with Sunoo and Sunghoon, your hands covering your ears as they kept asking questions you didnât wanna hear and less likely answer. âCome on, y/n!â Sunoo said pulling your hands out of your ears, making you roll your eyes. âI donât like him, ok?â You sighed, âI literally met him, like, not even two weeks ago. I donât even know him like that.â ây/n, you know damn well itâs not like that.â Sunghoon said leaning back in his chair. âJust admit you like him!â âLike who?â The three of you looked back to find Jake walking towards you with his hands in his pockets. âNo one, I donât like anyone.â You said closing your eyes as you propped your head in your hand. Jake looked at Sunghoon, as the latter smirked at him, making you glare not-so discreetly at him. Jake sat in a free chair next to you and the two other men thought it was a good idea to stand up and walk away, leaving you two alone.
âBad work day?â He started. âYeah, something like that.â You sighed, playing with a paper cup in front of you. âItâs just the end of the month and most people are on vacation by now so it was expected.â Jake hummed, an idea coming up to him. âSo you have nothing to do, right?â You looked at him wondering why he was asking that. âUh, yeah, I donât.â You answered nodding at him. He got up, extending a hand to you. âCome.â He said as he smiled and nodded his head towards his way. You hesitated in grabbing his hand and getting up as he dragged you to his car. âBut, the other we need to tell-â âDonât worry âbout that. Weâll be quick.â Jake said as he opened his car door for you. You looked at the car and then at him, making him nod at you, urging you to get in. Jake sat in the driver's seat with a happy sigh. He looked at him, watching as you admired his car, gently touching the leather seats, feeling the wealth in your touch. You looked around the car in awe, making him giggle at your antics. You turned to look at him with a blush and a small smile, feeling shy he caught you as you admired his expensive car. He turned the keys, making the engine purr as you felt the seats vibrate with the loud sound. âWow!â You said with a gasp âIt feels so different when youâre actually inside the car.â You looked at him as he drove out of the shopâs driveway. âYeah, I felt that too when I first drove it.â He said with a chuckle. âWhere are you taking me?â You asked curiously. âYouâll see, princess. Enjoy the ride for now.â He answered as he chose a song to play for the ride.Â
You looked out of your window, seeing the sun almost setting, making the sky turn into an orange explosion. The ride was silent, a comfortable silence, and you found yourselves in an empty road, no words needed to be spoken as you admired the view ahead of you. You rolled your window down, laying your head on the edge of the door. Jake looked at you, admiring your hair that flew freely with the wind and how your eyes were shining in awe and you wore a smile. He looked back to the front and he bit a smile back, failing to do so as the corners of his lips curled upwards. Jake was now driving towards a kind of abyss. He stopped the car, turning off the engine. âIs this it?â You asked making him nod at you with a smile. You both walked out of the car and sat in its hood. You gasped at the view in front of you. You could see the whole city from above. All the tall skyscrapers looked tiny and the street lights were only small dots on a canvas. The sky above showed a pink and orange painting, and the sun had almost fully set.
âJakeâ he looked at you, admiring your side profile âThis is beautiful.â You finished, looking at him with a big grin, making him mirror your actions. You looked back ahead as you scooted closer to him in the hood of the car, feeling your shoulder touch his. Jake smiled to himself, not daring to look your way to avoid doing something he would regret. âThank you.â You said looking at him, seeing how his eyes slightly widened. He looked down at his feet, feeling his ears get hotter âItâs nothing really.â âHow did you even find this place?â You wondered. âThis is gorgeous!â Jake finally looked at you, examining your face, sensing you were asking a genuine question and not just a rhetorical one. âWell,â He started with a sigh. âI usually come here to kind of unwind a little.â He said kicking some rocks on the floor. âIt just tunes me out the rest of the world. I feel the best when Iâm here.â
He felt the urge to keep talking as he felt you still looking at the side of his head. âNormally when I have a big argument with my dad I just come here and let everything out. No one comes here since itâs far from the city so now itâs my comfort place and Iâve never brought anyone here except for you.â He stopped talking, looking at you, seeing you with empathetic eyes. âThank you for sharing that with me Jake.â You rubbed his back in a comforting way âIâm glad you trust me enough to tell me all that, I know itâs not easy to deal with those kinds of problems, even if I never went through them myself. I hope you know Iâm a shoulder you can lean on when you need one. You shouldnât keep those thoughts to yourself.â Jake felt his eyes getting teary as he heard you talk. âI really appreciate that, y/n. I just feel like you give me so much of you and I never really shared something really intimate, so I thought this would feel just right.â He said holding his tears. You smiled at him, pulling his arm, grabbing it as you leaned your head on his shoulder, looking back to the view as a comfortable silence fell over you two. Jakeâs head leaned in yours and he felt a soft bubble form in his chest, making him close his eyes and take a deep breath in of the fresh air that danced around both of your hairs.
The sun fully set after a while. Stars started appearing in the dark sky. âLook,â You said pointing to the sky âThe first star of the night. Make a wish!â You finished as you looked at Jake. âA wish?â You nodded âAlright if you say so.â Both of you closed your eyes and put your hands together as you made your wishes. Jake opened his eyes to look at you, seeing you with your eyes closed and a giddy smile on your lips. You opened your eyes, looking at Jake only to find him already looking down at you, the summer breeze made his hair move beautifully. âWhat did you wish for?â he asked âCanât tell you, it wonât come true if I do.â Jake chuckled at your answer, making you do the same. You both stared into each other eyes, not daring to look away as if you were in some trance with each other's eyes, giving you time to appreciate each otherâs features. You couldnât understand how people could view Jake as a bad being. Since the moment you both started getting closer, he was nothing but a sweetheart to you and besides that, you saw how he treated the other boys as well, always being caring with them, giving them food when one of them didnât have enough or going as far as secretly ordering take out for Ni-ki when he had forgotten to pack his own lunch. They didnât know him in reality. If they had seen him with your eyes they would know he wouldnât do anything to hurt anyone or anything purposely. They couldnât see the sparkle in his eyes when he saw dogs playing in the park or the way his tongue would slightly poke his pouty lips when he focused on something. If only they could see him the way you do.
Your phone suddenly buzzed in your pocket, making you break the intense eye contact that seemed to last an eternity. You looked at the contact ID seeing it was your mom calling you, making you silently curse under your breath. âHey, mom.â You turned to Jake, mouthing him a Sorry which he dismissed with a shake of his head. âUhâŠâ Your eyes started moving around nervously âI, uh, Iâm with Jake, Mom.â You hissed, scratching the back of your neck. Your mom started going off excitedly about how she was right about him, making you roll your eyes, hoping the said man couldnât hear what she was saying. âUm, Mom, I donât- okay wait.â You turned to Jake with a sigh âYou wanna come over for dinner?â You asked him, making him still for a moment. âUh, sure, I mean, why not.â He answered shrugging, something you werenât really expecting, but deep down you were kind of glad he had accepted. âOkay, heâs coming. Yeah, see you, bye Mom.â You hung up, standing up and looking at Jake. He only looked at you, not knowing what to say. âCâmon.â You pulled him off the hood âWe got dinner waiting for us.âÂ
You were driving back to the city, immersed in a conversation about various topics. âAlso, Iâm gonna warn you about my mom, she can be a little too much sometimes, so sorry in advance.â Jake laughed at your words. âDonât say that. Iâm pretty sure she means well.â He said looking at you. âIf that makes you feel better about meeting her, then sure Jake, whatever you say.â Shortly after, Jake was pulling into your houseâs driveway, making you feel nervous, the fact that he was meeting your parents finally sinking in. You donât know why you felt like this, you two werenât even dating. You walked to your front door and searched for the keys that were somewhere lost in your bag. Suddenly the door burst open, making you squeal in surprise as you almost tripped and if it werenât for Jake you wouldâve fallen on your butt. âOh, what gentleman he is!â The door was fully open, revealing your mom who was now cooing at Jake. âMom, don't.â you said in a warning tone, making her wave her hand at you dismissingly. âOh, you must be Jake.â She said grabbing him by the arms âCome in you two.â She invited, making space for you to enter the house. âHow was day, dear?â Your mom asked, making you break the mad face you were making at her with a small smile. âIt was okay. We didnât have any clients today which is not good for the shop.â âOh, that must be really frustrating for you guys.â She said furrowing her brows in a worried way. âAnyways, letâs get to the kitchen. The foodâs getting cold.â She smiled warmly at you two as she dragged you both to the kitchen. âIs dad not home?â You said with a small pout. âOh no, heâs out for that company dinner he had. You know it.â You nodded at her letting out an Oh as you remember your father talking about it.
Jake tried to hide it, but as small as this interaction was, it was still a very domestic one. Those were the interactions he longed for but they never came to him. He felt a pang in his chest but your momâs voice snapped him out of his thoughts. âGive me your plate, dear. Iâll serve you.â She said smiling warmly at him, making him mirror her expression. Your mom seemed so sweet and he genuinely wanted to enjoy this small moment.Â
The three of you talked comfortably throughout the night. Jake was able to get those negative thoughts out of his head for a while as he interacted with you both. He loved watching you talk with your mom, seeing the way your eyes light up when she says something that makes you laugh. Just watching that made him smile, which didnât go unnoticed by your mom. Jake saw his phone light up on the table with a text from his dad asking him where he was and another from a contact he promised himself to never answer again. This made his whole good mood disappear and he just felt like going home. He felt guilty to do this but felt the need to be alone and forget about those texts.
âEverything alright?â you asked with a worried expression, just then he noticed he had his brows pressed tightly together. âOh um, yeah, just my dad texting me.â He said smiling at you, guilt eating him up, but deep down he wasnât lying, just not telling the whale truth, which made him feel shitty. âItâs getting late so maybe I should go. Thank you for the meal, it was really good!â He got up, grabbing his jacket from the chair. You got up as well and followed him to your front door as your mom stayed in the kitchen cleaning up. âHey,â You said grabbing his attention âAre you sure youâre alright? You looked pretty tense back there.â You asked in a worried tone. He sighed, nodding at you. âYes, princess. Donât worry about it. Iâll text you when I get home, yeah?â You nodded at him and you bid your goodbyes. Before he could leave, you grabbed his wrist. âThank you for today, really.â You smiled widely at him, making him chuckle at you âYouâre welcome, princess. Good night.â You let his hand go as you waved at him before closing the door. You turned around to see your mom leaning on the kitchen door. You held your hand up âDonât even start, ok?â you said not wanting to have that conversation. âDindât day a word, honey.â She said smiling at you. âWhatever. Goodnight, Mom.â âGoodnight, dear.â
You let yourself fall into the comfort of your bed with a sigh. You grabbed your phone, seeing a notification from Jake, making you quickly tap on it.Â
jake <3: thank you for tonight, princess :)
jake <3: sorry for leaving so suddenly. my dad texted me and you know how it isâŠ
you: jake you donât need to thank meÂ
you: we were both glad to have you eat with us and dont worry about that i totally understand
you: im gonna head to sleep now. goodnight jake :)Â
jake <3: goodnight princess:)Â
The next day at work you felt kind of uneasy. The way Jake left your house yesterday left you with an unsettling feeling. You didnât know what his dad had texted him and you surely werenât gonna ask him, you were in no place to do that. It was already 5:30 pm and Jake still hadnât stopped by the shop, something unusual since he always comes by lunchtime. You didnât want to think too much of it and tried to convince yourself that he was just busy. As you were cleaning up a car you just finished fixing, you heard footsteps coming towards you, making you look to see Heeseung and Sunghoon. âLover boy didnât come today, huh?â Sunghoon said making you roll your eyes before turning to look at them, now standing up from your crouching position. âHeâs not my lover and you know that damn well.â you said propping your hand on your hip. âYet!â Heeseung says with a stupid grin on his face.
âAnyways, weâre going to this party tonight and we wanted to invite you so you better be there.â the older male said. âUh, I donât know, guys. Iâm not really-â âNot in the mood, yeah we know. Same story and itâs not working today. You are going today, no excuses.â Sunghoon paused for a while âYou know, Jakeâs gonna be there.â he said with a smirk. You lightly tapped your foot on the floor, knowing you didnât really have a choice other than going and if you ended up going you would see Jake. Not that you missed him, maybe just a little bit though. âFine, I guess I can go.â you sighed, crossing your arms âWhere and when?â Heeseung gave you the details about the party, maybe it wouldnât be so bad with Jake there. Even if you were still kind of sour about him not coming, you were sure he had a good reason not to, right?
You walked up to your mirror, checking yourself out one last time before leaving. You lightly rubbed your finger under your lips, cleaning a lipstick smudge. You looked at your outfit, a simple lace, black corset-like top paired with some black leather pants and black heels. The top felt a little too revealing for you, but you decided to come out of your comfort zone for once and try new things. You felt pretty. Your hair was just right, your makeup looked flawless and your outfit was tight just in the right places, flattering your silhouette. Tonight was the night and you were going to enjoy it to the fullest. Sohee had previously texted you, informing you she would also be there with Heeseung, which made you less stressed about this party. You drove to the address Heeseung had texted you, the clock showed 11:45, a reminder that you were 15 minutes late. âTypical y/n, am I right?â you mumbled to yourself when you stopped at a red light. Taking one last turn, you saw a sign with the name of the bar Hee had told you. You parked your car and walked towards the entrance, feeling the biting wind hit your skin, making you regret not taking a small coat with you. You entered the bar and it was already almost full since it was almost midnight. You passed and pushed through the crowd of people Excuses meâs and Sorryâs leaving your lips as you did so. Finally, you were able to spot a tall ash blond who could only be Heeseung and walked towards him.
âHey and before you scold me, yes I know Iâm late.â you said as you and Sohee hugged before taking a seat next to Jay. âWouldnât expect any different from you.â Sunghoon said making you let out Shup up to him. You looked around and saw everyone there except for one person. âWhereâs Jake?â you asked still looking around, failing to notice the exchange of looks between the four of them. âHeâs- Well, he is with some guys from the soccer team, yeah.â Sungoon said, a nervous smile dancing on his lips, making you tilt your head at him âWeird.â you thought out loud. âBut donât worry!â Sunoo said, making you look at him âHeâll probably be here⊠soon.â âOkay?â you answered, looking at Sohee who was just as confused as you were. There was an unfamiliar tension in the booth and before you could think further about it Heeseung spoke up âNo more talking. Letâs get the night started and get drinks!â Everyone got up, greedy to finally get some alcohol in their systems, maybe thatâs what you needed. You reached the counter and Heeseung ordered tequila shots for everyone. The shots were gone as quickly as they came and everyone was thirsting for more so Sunghoon ordered six more of the same.Â
You and Sohee made your way towards the dance floor full of sweating bodies. You were buzzing inside with the little alcohol in your system and the lights were making you dazed in the best way possible. It had been a long time since you and Sohee hung out like this and you were enjoying this just as much as she was. You had your arms thrown over her shoulders as she hugged your waist and you both swayed to whatever music was playing. The boys were looking at you with pure amusement on their faces, never having seen you like this but they were glad you were enjoying this night so far. Your body felt hot from the heat radiating from everyone around you. You saw couples kissing and grinding against each other and it made your mind wander to Jake and wonder if you and he were ever gonna dance like that like it was just the two of you in the room with no one to interrupt you both. You and your best friend went back to the counter to order drinks for yourselves while the boys went back to the booth.
âCan I get two Pink Whitneys with Sprite, please?â the bartender nodded at you before leaving to prepare the drinks. âWas wondering if you could still party, y/nâ Sohee told you laughing. âOh, shut up. It hasnât been that long.â You both turned back to the counter when you heard the bartender speak. âFor the pretty ladies.â He said putting the drinks in front of you, both of you mumbling Thanks in return. You closed your eyes as you savoured the drink you hadnât tasted in a long time. âGod, I forgot how much I love this.â You said taking a big sip of the pink drink. âBrings back old memories doesnât it?â Sohee said leaning back as if she was having a flashback. Even though you were a stay-at-home person, back in the first years of college you went partying almost every night since Sohee was a social butterfly and always made sure to bring you along to whatever party she was invited to. Every time Heeseung would host a party, he made sure to have a hidden bottle of Pink Whitney in a small fridge that only he and the boys knew of for you and Sohee. You laughed at her as you tilted the cup towards her for a toast. âFor old timeâs sake.â She clinked her glass with yours âFor old timeâs sake!â she said before finishing her drink in one big gulp as she did the same.Â
You two got up, making your way to the booth the guys were at. Your vision was starting to blur from all the drinks you had. Only had your low alcohol tolerance to blame. You were trying to walk through the crowd when you spotted a familiar brunette in the middle of it. âLook! Jakeâs there, letâs say hi!â you said pushing Sohee towards his way. The grin you had on your face started to slowly fade as your steps got slower. The closer you got to Jake the stronger the pang in your chest grew. You squeezed Soheeâs hand trying to get her attention but she had already seen enough. You two stood there watching as a girl eagerly kissed Jakeâs neck, his face was hidden since he was looking opposite from where you were. âJake?â You felt a pull on your heartstrings and a whimper left your quivering lips when Jake turned his head to the side and made eye contact with you. His face wasnât showing any emotions previously, quickly contorted with shock as a gasp left his lips, making him immediately push the girl away. Still, Sohee was quicker to pull you away from where you were standing. She was letting out some curses on her way to the booth, something that you couldnât hear.
When you finally reached the other boys they all were looking at you with worried expressions. Their eyes flickered between each other and you were finally able to catch on what was happening when you arrived. âYou guys knew?â you said with a choked sob. None of them were saying a word, making your blood boil when you got your answer. âYou all fucking knew this whole time.â you screamed, pointing your finger at them accusingly. âHow long has it been going on?â Jay was quick to speak up. âIt was just today.â he started. âWe didnât know she was gonna be here and I donât think Jake knew either.â You were starting to get even more confused âWhat do you mean she?â you asked shaking your head. They all looked at each other not knowing what to say. âHeeseung, did you know about this?â Sohee asked her boyfriend, and he quickly shook his head no. âNo, i swear. None of us knew and as he said it was probably a not-so-pleasant surprise for Jake as well.â Knowing that everyone knew who she was and they werenât explaining it to you was leaving you irritated and you just wanted to leave. âSohee can we just go home.â you quietly asked and she ran a hand down your back in a soothing manner. âYeah, give me your car keys, Iâll drive.â You both turned to leave, no words were exchanged apart from a Drive safely from Heeseung.
When you sat in your car you felt like something exploded inside you as you started sobbing uncontrollably. You hid your face in your hands as you started sobbing. Sohee reached for you, holding you in her embrace. âI donât even know why Iâm crying itâs not like we had something.â you said trying to wipe your tears but they just kept coming. âY/n, it wouldnât take a genius to see that something was going on between you two. I canât honestly understand why Jake would be with someone else, especially her.â âWill anyone ever tell me who she is?â you said in an annoyed tone. Sohee sighed as she sat back in the driverâs seat. âThat girl was Aerin. Jake and her were in a weird situationship, kind of friends with benefits but not quite that. They had that going on for almost a year but he eventually broke it off because he finally opened his eyes and realized how much of a bitch she was, even though we were warning him since the beginning.â she paused with a sigh. âShe didnât take it very well since she had always been possessive with him but we thought she finally had gotten over it, itâs been, like, a year and something?â she turned to look at you, seeing you with your head propped in your knees. She raised her hand to cup your cheek, brushing it softly with her thumb.
âI just donât understand why he would do this, after all that weâve been through.â You said feeling tears coming back, pooling in your eyes. âSohee, I let all of my guard down for him, I told him my everything and this feels like history is repeating itself, you know?â You told her as memories from your history with your ex brought you a sour feeling âY/n, whatever happened between you and Jeno is long behind, I thought we had already talked about this.â âI am over it, Sohee! But seeing Jake do this is just bringing all those feelings back. Six months right after I opened up to Jeno I find out he was cheating on me with the girl I shouldnât worry about and now when I finally feel like I can commit to someone again, I see Jake like that, how is that fair to me?â you said turning into a sobbing mess again. Your whole body was shaking and Sohee felt her heart shatter seeing her best friend like this.
âY/n, I know this really isnât the right time to say this but Iâve known Jake for as long as Iâve been dating Heeseung and I canât understand why he is doing this. This really isnât like him, at all.â She rubbed your back âIâm more than sure he will explain himself to you soon. This just doesn't sit right with me.â You wiped your eyes as you sniffed âI donât want to see him anytime soon, Sohee.â She smiled sadly at you. âI know, honey, But you know it will eventually happen right? Itâs inevitable.â You nodded at her, knowing she was right. âLetâs go home yeah? You can stay at mine today. Donât want you dealing with this alone.âÂ
Sohee drove off as you stared out the window. Millions of thoughts were running through your head and you felt like it was about to explode. Eventually, you fell asleep during the ride and only woke up when Sohee softly shook you when you arrived. You both entered her apartment, being immediately greeted by her cat who was rubbing herself in your legs. You crouched down to her level, rubbing behind her fluffy white ears, making her purr. Oh to be a cat. Sohee gave you one of her pyjamas for you to sleep in and some makeup wipes, knowing you probably wouldnât even bother to take it off. You both slipped into her bed, sleeping together like you two would back in the day. You laid back against the headboard as she texted Heeseung to update him. Your own phone buzzed on the bedside table. You grabbed it and saw a notification that normally you would be excited to answer, but not today. You read the texts Jake had sent you.
jake <3: y/n please                         Â
jake <3: i know what it looks like but it isnât like thatÂ
jake <3: let me explain please                   Â
jake <3: you know id never hurt you. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
You dropped your phone in your lap as you rubbed your eyes with your hands, starting to sniff again. You squeezed your eyes shut, trying to stop the tears as you sighed and leaned back against the headboard. Sohee looked at your phone and then at you, making her sigh. âWhere did i go wrong? I mustâve done something really bad in my past life to deserve this.â âY/n, cut the nonsense, you donât deserve this, ok?â she said grabbing your arms and turning to look at her. âYouâre gonna get through this with me and when youâre ready youâre gonna go back to work and maybe talk with Jake, yeah?â You took a deep breath before nodding at her. âGood. Now youâre gonna rest and tomorrow weâll see whatâs gonna happen.â She grabbed your phone and turned it off, putting it on her bedside table. She turned the light off and you let your head fall into the pillow with a sigh. You stared at the ceiling, trying to shake off all the thoughts going through your head until you felt your eyes closing on their own.
The weekend had gone by slowly. You had texted your mom after everything happened to tell her you were gonna stay at Soheeâs for a few days. All you did was mop around the house and lay in your friendâs bed all day, only getting up when you really needed to. You were sure you were sleeping more than 12 hours a day and still felt like the energy was drowning out of you. Sohee tried to get you to go out and encourage you to go to work to help you forget things but the anxiety you felt at the possibility of encountering Jake was keeping you from doing so. You knew that staying home all day and doing nothing until Sohee came back from work wasnât gonna help you in any way and you honestly wanted to do something about it but you had no energy to do anything. You walked to the kitchen for nth time that day, placing your cereal bowl on the sink with an accidental loud thud, making you hiss. You sighed as you looked at the mess of plates and cutlery you had accumulated in the sink within just a day. âGod, what am I doing.â You said talking to yourself. You stared into nothingness as you got in deep thought. Being like this wasnât gonna take you anywhere and avoiding situations where you might meet Jake wonât either. So, you made the final decision that you were going to work tomorrow, no matter what. You looked at the clock on the kitchenâs wall and saw it was already 6:30 pm, so without any more self pity you walked to the bathroom to take a shower, determined to get back to your usual work routine. You stared at your figure in the mirror and almost apologized to yourself as you took in your messy and unkempt appearance. You entered the shower and let the warm water fall on your tense shoulders. Sighing, you let your head lean into the shower wall as your body shook with a sob when Jake filled your mind again. Had he tried texting you anymore after that night? You couldnât really know since you had blocked him on your social media. Was he hurting the way you did? What had really happened? Maybe you were overreacting all this. You shouldâve let him explain himself. Dumb y/n, so dumb.Â
Jake felt horrible. You really had to come near him at the wrong moment and see something that really wasnât what it looked like. But he shouldâve known the moment she texted him the night he was at your house she was serious. Why couldnât Aerin just get over the fact they werenât together anymore, as if they were ever actually together. In his head, it was starting to be too good to be true. As if he was ever gonna get lucky with someone like you. Of course, he had to fuck it up in any way. Itâs all your fault, Jake. This was all you. Those words kept repeating themselves in his head as he laid in his bed as his whole body was filled with piercing anxiety. He didnât know what else to do. He called Heeseung and said you still hadnât gone to work that week.
The boys knew about the situation and Jake always tried to explain himself while he cried on the phone with any of the guys, even if they reassured him they believed him every day. He shouldâve known better than to get involved with Aerin in the first place. He had always been warned about it so why did he still do it? Why couldnât he just do anything right. The past few days were spent with Jake lying in his bed as he cried and cried for as long as he could. All the feelings he bottled up for so long left his body, making his whole self shake. When he finally was able to open up fully to you, he had it all taken away, knowing you had let your whole guard down for him. He knew you werenât doing any better than him and that hurt him even more. Knowing he couldnât be the one to hold you and comfort you was killing. Jake knew he couldnât stay like this forever and all he wanted to do nothing more than reach out to you and tell you his truth but he knew he had to give you space. So he waits for as long as he needs to because he is not letting you go because of her, he wasnât letting that happen.
You woke up at the same time as Sohee. The moment you opened your eyes you instantly felt a pang in your chest, knowing you had to go to work today. You threw your arm over your eyes as you sighed. Sohee looked at you as she rubbed her eyes to wake herself up. âGood morning.â she told you to which you only answered with a grumble making her chuckle at you. She got out of bed, opening her curtains, making you squint at the bright light invading the room. âCâmon, get up. You need to get ready.â You sighed again at her words before sitting up on the bed. After you both got ready for work, you sat down at the table as you had breakfast together. âSo,â Sohee said mid-chew âare you ready for today?â You looked at her as you sipped on your coffee. âI mean, no. But as you said I canât keep avoiding him and itâs better if we talk already than not.â You answered as your fork played with the blueberries on your plate. âYou got this, yeah?â Sohee reached for your hand across the table. You inhaled as you felt your eyes water but you held yourself back. You nodded at her as you whispered a Yeah in response to her.
You left around 10 am which was the time Sohee usually left for work. As you made your way to the shop, anxiety started bubbling up in your chest, making you take deep breaths to try and keep yourself together. Thereâs nothing to worry about. If Jake ended up showing up at the shop you guys were just gonna talk, or maybe not. Maybe he will explain to you and assure you it was not what it looked like or maybe he wasnât and it was exactly what it looked like. âWell, shit.â you said to yourself as you arrived at the shop. You parked your car, seeing everyone already there. You stepped out of the car, taking a deep breath of the fresh morning air breeze around you. You walked inside and there stood Heeseung and Sunghoon staring at you with warm smiles. âHey guys!â you greeted. You walked towards them and Sunghoon pulled you into a hug, making you let out a shaky breath. âHowâve you been, dummy?â He asked, letting you go of his arms. âWell, yâknow, not good. But! Iâm here to change that and yes Iâm going to avoid that conversation, if you donât mind.â They nodded their heads at you, Right and Of course! were their only answers before you asked Heeseung if there was any work for you to which he assigned you to check a carâs engine and gasket.Â
You got right to work and you were glad you could distract yourself for most of the time. The car needed to get his gasket changed and it wasnât an easy task so you needed to have your full focus on it. Working made the day go by faster and you barely had time to lunch as you were so immersed in the task you were assigned to do. Sometimes Ni-ki would linger around you, mostly joking around as you worked, keeping you company, which you were glad he did. If anyone had told you you wouldâve ended up getting a summer job at a mechanic shop and befriending the six workers you wouldnât believe it. But you couldnât be more glad that you did, you had quickly made six precious friendships with six boys who were all you could ask for in a friend. As someone who never found befriending people easy, you were quite proud of yourself as you had found six treasures in only a lifetime. You knew you could always rely on them, and despite the age gap between the two younger ones, you still would trust them with your life nonetheless.
You felt sweat dripping down your forehead as you worked, making you get up from your bent-over position to wipe the sweat with your forearm, adjusting the strap from your overall that was slipping off your shoulder. âGod.â You sighed loudly. Heeseung slid from underneath a car to check on you, âEverything ok?â he asked sitting up. âI guess. Just this thing is harder than I thought it would be.â You said putting your hands on your hips as you stared at the engine in thought. You knew this was gonna be hard, but one wrong move you would need to do it all over. Heeseung got up and walked to where you stood staring at the car. âI think youâre going on the right path. Nothing is looking wrong or weird so keep going.â He said patting your back âYouâre doing well, you always do.â You chuckled at his words âYou flatter me, Lee.â He laughed at your words âAll for the best of my wor-âÂ
His words were cut off by the roar of an engine. A familiar Ford Mustang pulled up in the driveway. Your breath stopped for a while until you felt Heeseung get his hand off your back. âI think I should go somewhere elseâŠâ You nodded at him, fully understanding why he was doing it. You pretended to go back to work, trying to convince yourself that Jake wouldnât come over to you if you did that. You heard footsteps getting closer to you and you felt your breath pick up its pace. You got this. âHeyâŠâ You heard the deep yet soft voice say. You looked up to see Jake smiling softly at you and you almost teared up at that. You tried to reciprocate the smile but you were sure it came out shaky. âHi, Jake.â You said nodding at him. Your gaze drifted from his figure, trying to look at anything but him, as you fiddled with your fingers. âNice patch!â He said chuckling, making you blush as you stared at the Care Bears patch placed upon your knee. âThere was ripped so my mom put it on for me.â You said still not looking at him, making him mutter a Cute under his breath, which you almost missed. âWhy are you here?â You asked, looking at his face, but you knew damn well why he was here. Jake took a shaky breath in as he leaned against the wall behind him, his own gaze now avoiding yours.
âI guess- No, I know and I need to explain myself to you.â He started, gulping his anxiety away. âWhat you saw that night wasnât something anyone would expect that would happen. I mean, I shouldâve had to be honest. The night I went to have dinner with you and your mother I told you I had received a text from my father. Which isnât a lie, because I did, but you also deserved to know that Aerin had also texted me.â His eyes finally met yours with an apologetic gaze. Your face was contorted in confusion and you waited for him to explain it further. âShe somehow found out that you and I had been hanging out and that there was something between us and she texted me some nonsense about knowing I still wanted and was using you as a rebound.â You stared at the ground hearing those words. âWas I a rebound to you Jake?â You asked quietly âNo!â He answered with no hesitation âOf course not! And I hope you never felt that way because all I did for you was genuine.â his hand twitched, Jake wanted to reach out to you but he knew he still had further explaining to do. âGoing on. That night I was supposed to go out with guys from my soccer team as well as the guys here but Aerin somehow was involved with some of the guys in the team and joined as well. The moment you started approaching me she threw herself at me and started doing whatever she was doing and before I could react and push her away you had already seen it.â His voice became shaky as he played that moment back in his head. âAnd I would and never will blame you for reacting the way you did. If I was in that position I would do the same, most likely.â Tears started falling from your eyes as you heard him talk.Â
Your chest was tight with guilt. You felt bad for what you did to him. He didnât deserve to go through what you made him go through. You sniffed as you tried to wipe the stubborn tears that kept falling. Jake took a step closer to you, feeling his own eyes water at the sight of your miserable state. âBaby, please donât cry.â The pet name left his lips before he could think about it but you didnât seem to have heard it or mind it. âJake Iâm so sorry.â You said between hiccups of sobs âPlease, please forgive me. I probably made you go through hell when you didnât even do anything. I was so selfish.â Your cries got louder as you spoke and you didnât even care if the boys could hear you. âY/n, no! Stop apologizing. It was not your fault, ok? You arenât the one to blame. You werenât the one causing this, Aering was.â He said pulling you into his embrace. The knot on your chest broke as you finally felt his comforting touch and scent that you loved so much. âI would forgive you in a heartbeat if you had anything to apologize for, but you don't, you hear me?â You looked up at him, sniffling softly as you nodded at him. Jake cupped your face to wipe your tears as he smiled softly at you. âIâm sorry I made you go through all of this.â You saw the tears pooling in his eyes, making you cup his cheek.
âAre we ok now?â He asked, worry still lingering in his tone. You smiled widely at him as you furiously nodded your head âYes! God, Jake, of course!â You said chuckling between sniffs. He laughed along with you as he stared into your eyes endearingly. Your breath calmed down as you both stared into each other eyes. None of you making a move to look away. Your eyes drifted from his eyes to his lips and you caught a glimpse of him doing the same. You donât know who was the first to move but suddenly your lips were on his as you two share a long-awaited kiss. Your arms went around his neck as his hands were still cupping your cheeks. You leaned your head to the side to deepen the kiss. Jake let out a happy sigh into the kiss, making you smile against his lips. You both pulled away and you let your eyes look around the room to avoid his gaze. Jake laughed at you and you buried your face into his neck to hide the crimson red spreading on your cheeks. Jake pulled you off of him and held your hand as he started pushing you outside. âLetâs go.â He said nodding towards his car. âJake I canât I have to finish-â âDonât worry about that. Iâm pretty sure Heeseung wonât mind.â You were hesitant but still let him drag you to his car. âOk- wait. Slow down, oh my God. Isnât this kidnapping? Geez!â You said scowling lightly at him at the eagerness he was pushing you with. âStop talking nonsense, silly.âÂ
The boys finally gathered around the entrance as they heard Jakeâs car leave with you both inside it. âWell, it was kinda awkward.â Jungwon said breaking the silence. Sunoo rolled his eyes, slapping the boy's arm. âWhat? Itâs true!â He said raising his hands in surrender. Silene took over again as everyone tried to process what had just happened. âIf all it takes to leave work early is to argue with my girlfriend then Iâm down.â âNi-ki, shut the fuck up.â
You were anxious for today. Even though Jake has been countless times at your house and had dinner with your parents just as much, youâve never been at his house, let alone met his parents. But it would change today, Jake had called you today, inviting you to have dinner with his parents at his house. As much as you wanted to refuse, you knew you couldnât, you couldnât delay this moment any longer, sooner or later it was gonna happen and it was happening today. You didnât know how to really feel about it. From what Jake told you, you knew his dad wasnât the best person but you didnât know much about his mom. You felt anxiety creeping up your body as you got ready for the night. You tried to look the most presentable you could for Jakeâs parents, not wanting to leave a bad first impression.
Your phone buzzed in your bed, you picked it up and saw Jakeâs text telling you he was outside. You looked at your reflection one last time before grabbing your purse and leaving. When you got outside you were met with the breathtaking sight of Jake leaning against his car, looking like he just came from a clichĂ© teenage movie. His skin was glowing with the bright sunshine, complementing his skin colour to perfection. His full black outfit was hugging in all the right places, making him look like a runway model. Jake noticed your staring, making him laugh silently. âYou know you can take a closer look, right?â His words made you roll your eyes, despite feeling your cheeks grow hot. âYouâre so cocky, Jake.â You said as you walked towards him, stopping in front of him as you leaned in for a peck. Jake hummed against your lips, holding your face to kiss you deeper. You tapped his cheek and pulled away, eyeing him with a warning stare. âWe have places to be, young man.â Jake sighed at your words and you both got in the car.Â
Throughout the car ride, Jake noticed your fidgeting hands and he knew you were nervous. He put his hand on top of yours, still looking at the road ahead of him. âThereâs nothing to be worried about, y/nâ He said in a quiet voice, making you look at him at the sudden words. You let out a breath you didnât realize you were holding, looking back to the road. âI know. Itâs just- I donât even know why Iâm nervous.â You answered chuckling humorlessly. Jake gave your hand a squeeze, giving you a silent reassurance. âI know that from what I say about my dad he sounds scary but he can be nice sometimes and Iâm sure he will be pretty okay with you, so donât think too much about it, yeah? Besides my momâs gonna be there so it wonât be as bad.â You nodded and smiled at him, leaning on the center console to peck his cheek, making him smile.
Soon enough, you both reached his parentâs house. You felt your heart starting to race as soon as you stepped out of the car. Jake walked beside you, grabbing your hand, holding it tightly against his. Something in him was telling you he was nervous as well and it made you look at him with worried eyes. You both stopped at the front door, looking at each other. Jake smiled at you, nodding his head towards the door, making you take a deep breath as you nodded back at him. He rang the doorbell, the sound echoing in the loud silence as you both waited impatiently.
The door finally opened, revealing a beautiful woman. She didnât look any older than 45, her skin was smooth with barely any wrinkles adorning it, only faint ones that marked her joyful smile. Her hair had a chestnut tone to it and the perfectly styled curls reached her shoulders. âJake, my love.â She said as she pulled the said man into her embrace. âIâve missed you so much!â Jake smiled as he looked at her with a grin. âMissed you too, mom.â He said lovingly pecking her forehead. âOh, goodness. You must be y/n, Iâm Sooyoung! So glad to meet you dear!â She said pulling you in a hug, making you smile at her as you felt the nerves slowly leaving your body. âYes, I am! Itâs so nice to finally meet you!â You told her, as she held your hands in herâs. âYou know, Jake sounded so excited to finally introduce you to us, he would always talk about you when he called.â You heard Jake groan beside you. âMom!â âWhat? Iâm just saying!â She said laughing at his son âAnyways, come inside. Dinner is almost ready!â She leads you both inside the house. âDo you need help with anything?â You asked her âOh no, dear! Donât worry, everythingâs almost done. You both wait in the leaving room while I finish it.âÂ
Jake took you to the living room, where his father sat on the couch as he watched whatever news channel was playing. He cleared his throat, making his father loom at you both. âHey, dad. This is y/n, my girlfriend.â Jake said introducing you to the older man. âHi, sir. Itâs nice to meet you!â You said bowing slightly at him, wiping your sweaty hands in the back of your pants. Jakeâs father got up, walking towards the both of you. His straight lips formed a slight smile as he pulled you into a hug, making you let out a surprised sound. âItâs nice to see the girl my son canât shut up about. Canât say Iâm not surprised to see my son could keep up with a girl like you.â You felt shy at his words, not really knowing what to say. âAh, Iâm sure itâs not like that.â You said rubbing your arm anxiously. He then walked to Jake, shaking hands with his son, giving him a tight-lipped smile. âHope youâve been behaving well, son.â He said patting his sonâs head. âDad..â Jake said rolling his eyes. The three of you sat on the couch, Jake's dadâs eyes were on the TV but his focus was somewhere else.
âSo,â He started. âWhere did you two meet?â He asked, turning to look at you two. You looked at Jake and then at his father âWe met at my workplace.â You said nodding at him. âYou work?â He asked curiously. âWell, itâs a summer job, but yeah I do. Been there for about two and half months maybe?â You smiled at him, rubbing your hands back in forth on your thighs as you tried to ease the nerves. He hummed âAnd what do you do, may I ask?â âDad, itâs enough questions.â Jake said but you stopped âItâs okay, Jake.â You said smiling at him. âIâm working at a mechanic shop, which I know itâs not usual as a summer job, but I enjoy it a lot.â His dad opened his mouth to speak but before he could do so, Sooyoung called everyone to the table.
You were all sat at the table peacefully, immersed in a casual conversation. âWe should totally book a dinner with your parents y/n, Jake talks about how nice they are when he stays at your house. â Jakeâs mother suggested. âYeah, I think that would be really nice. They would love it!â You told her, smiling at her as you went back to eating. You noticed Jake had been quiet most of the night, only talking when you were the topic of the conversation. It made you worried that he was behaving this way. You noticed the way his hands were trembling and you wanted nothing more than to comfort him right there and then. You put your utensils down when you finished the meal and one of your hands went to his tigh to rub it in a comforting manner. Jakeâs movements faltered when he felt it. His free hand went down to where your hand was placed in his thigh and squeezed it in appreciation. You interlocked your fingers with his and his thumb started rubbing the back of your hand. Jake felt his heart warming up at your actions, looking at you as you spoke with his mother. He smiled, looking down at his empty plate as he tried to hide it.
Jakeâs mom got up and walked towards the fridge. âIf everyoneâs finished, I made dessert!â She said as she put a homemade ice cream bowl on the table. She sat back down and the conversation went on. ây/n I almost forgot to ask! What are you studying?â Sooyung asked as she looked at you. her elbow propped on the table. âOh, Iâm majoring in computer science actually!â You answered with a smile. âI actually share a few classes with Jake.â You said looking at him with a smile, seeing him already looking at you. âOh really! What a coincidence, isnât it!â His mother beamed at you. Jakeâs father scoffed beside his mother making you snap your head in his direction. âIâm surprised he actually attends classes.â He said looking down at his desert. Jakeâs hand tightened almost painfully in your grip.
The tension in the room was thick and if you wanted you could cut it with a knife. Jakeâs mother scolded him silently for speaking about it when you were present, but the man couldnât care less. âSoccer, soccer, soccer. Itâs all that goes through that head of his.â He said, finally looking up at his son, who stared at him with a stoic expression. âI work hard every day to give him a stable future and yet he doesnât even think about pursuing that.â He said with an expression that could be read as disappointment. âLook at his brother. Working a high-paying job, a stable one, and yet, you canât take it as an example to look up to. Do you really think soccerâs gonna take you anywhere in life?â He asked but he wasnât really looking for an answer. Your heart felt like it could jump out of your chest with how quick it was beating. Jakeâs face was emotionless but his hands were shaking as the force of his own fatherâs words hit him like rocks. It hurt you to see him take all this and you just couldnât keep yourself quiet any longer
âYou know,â You started âJakeâs really good at what he does best, even if itâs at soccer.â You gulped your nerves down as you continued. âIf thereâs something my parents never did was interfere in my future. They never once told me I should follow this or that, never. Because nothing was more important than them seeing me do something that makes me happy. If soccer is what he loves doing, then why not let him do that? I donât know a thing about soccer or sports but if heâs known in almost every national universityâs soccer team then he must be damn good at what he does. So why not support him in that? Even if it goes bad for him, which I must say I doubt, heâs going to graduate so thereâs always a plan b. Have you ever considered your sonâs happiness? I genuinely donât intend to be disrespectful to you or your company, but is your business more important than your son? You have a son working in that field so why not make him take over it instead of Jake, who clearly doesnât want to do it?â
You looked at Jake, seeing him look at you with tears pooling in his eyes, making your own eyes water. âJake deserves nothing but to be happy. If you only could see how much heâs done then maybe you would love him a bit more.â You got up from your chair, the scraping sound made you slightly hiss. Jake understood what you were doing and did the same. âIâm so sorry about this, but I just canât stand you seeing talk so low of your son. I hope you can reflect a little bit. Again, Iâm sorry.â You turned to leave, Jake following behind you.
When the front door shut close, Jake instantly broke down, throwing himself in your embrace. His body shook with broken cries, making you screw your eyes shut as you tried to stop your tears. You held him tightly, rubbing his back in a soothing manner. âItâs alright now.â you said in a whisper, your hand coming up to tangle itself in his hair. When his cries died out Jake pulled out of your arms, looking at you. His hands cradled your face, as his eyes scanned your features. He smiled at you, making you mirror his expression. He leaned down as he pecked your lips and your hands came up to hold his that were holding your face. âIâm sorry for, you know, causing all that. I just couldnât not do anything.â You said looking down. âHey, donât apologize. Thank you for that, really.â he said letting out a breath. âItâs better you saying that than me having another screaming match with my father.â He smiled sadly.
âI didnât know you liked me that much, though.â He joked trying to lighten the mood. âOh, câmon Jake, seriously.â You said groaning at him, feeling your cheeks heat up. âIâm kidding, Iâm kidding.â He said laughing. âYâknow, I like you that much too.â You felt shy under his gaze, suddenly not able to look in his eyes. âDo you really?â You asked as you kicked tiny rocks on the floor. âYes, silly. Of course I doâŠâ Jake tensed âEven more than liking, actually.â You looked up at him when he said that, seeing him biting his lips nervously. âWhat?â You asked, surprised as you felt your heart race. âI- sorry I shouldnât-â âJake.â You cut him off, laughing at him. He stared at you wide-eyed, his cheeks flushed and his ears red.
You threw your arms over his shoulder, making a slight force to pull him closer. You smiled up at him. âI love you.â Jake almost choked in his own spit, not expecting to hear those words coming out of your mouth. His mouth opened and closed as he tried to say something. He took a deep breath and put his hands on your waist, suddenly feeling like he was in high school again, about to have his first kiss. He leaned in to kiss you, moving his head to the side to deepen it. Both of your lips moving on their own as you shared a passionate kiss. Jake pulled away before he could go further, his forehead resting against yours as he giggled, making you laugh at his behaviour. âI love you too princess.â He finally said, âSo much.â He pecked your lips again, and again, and again until you pushed his chest as you laughed at him. He grinned at you, as he grabbed your hand in his. âLetâs go?â He asked and you nodded at him. You both got in the car, ready to go home as some soft tunes played from to radio.
Jake had been trying to make his house a home for a long time, but maybe home was where you were.

Warnings: NSFW, smut, voyeurism, exhibition!kink, possesive!hoon, I think that's it frfr
The words are right on the tip of Sunghoon's tongue.
'Are you fucking dumb? Get the fuck away from my woman!'
He wants to tell them to stop drooling and staring at his baby like that. But he can't even really blame them.
You're fucking hot.
He knows it. You know it. And unfortunately, so do Jake and Jay. So he can't really say he's too surprised at the way Jake is eye-fucking you. Biting his lip and crooning in that deep, aussie accent. The way Jay is forcing you to hold eye contact with his sharp, predatory eyes, pearly white teeth smiling at you like a wolf in sheeps clothing. Towering over you on purpose, making you feel tiny and weak in his presence.
He flips his fucking lid when they both reach out and touch you.
It's their best attempt at innocence, Jay tucking a springy coil behind your ear, whilst Jake casually pinches your cheek.
That's fucking enough for Sunghoon.
Because what the actual fuck? Are they shamelessly trying to seduce you right in front of him? His girl? No fucking way.
"Come here, baby."
His voice is commanding. His baritone is borderline hypnotic to your ears, so deep and smooth, cutting through your conversation and beckoning you towards him. Your body is almost on autopilot, immediately excusing yourself from their presence to obediently sit at your boyfriend's side.
"Yes, my love?" Sunghoon's heart aches. You're so sweet and innocent and good for him. You probably had no clue of the nasty thoughts his best friends thought of you.
"I want you near me. You didn't come over to see Tweedle dee and Tweedle dum....you came to see me." He pulls you into his lap in a clear display of possession and dominance.
"Right, Princess?" Your eyes are wide and shiny as you nod your head.
"Good girl. Now give me some sugar." You can't help but giggle at the way he wiggles his eyebrows and attacks your neck with kisses, feeling his grin against your skin.
"Gross, dude. We were in the middle of an entire conversation." Though Jake tries to feign disgust, Sunghoon knows him too well. He can tell by his clenched fist and dark eyes the true intent of his words.
Jake is jealous as hell. Jay, too.
"Yeah, we were talking. Either give her back or get a fucking room." Jay scoffs. His eyes are shooting poison-dipped daggers at Sunghoon, but Sunghoon really couldn't give less of a fuck if he tried.
"Good idea." Sunghoon smirks. He gently pats your butt to get you to stand up with him. He turns you to face him, his ego expanding a million fold when he feels your tiny hands gripping on his biceps. His big hands are groping and smacking your ass as he walks you towards his bedroom, waddling awkwardly as you refuse to let each other go.
"Great idea, dumbass." He hears Jake muttering irritably to Jay.
"Fuck you."
Your lips connect with his, gently at first. Though you know his gentleness won't last long, it still makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. You expect Sunghoon to kick the door shut when you cross the threshold to his room. But to your surprise, he does no such thing.
"The door, baby." You mumble against his lips.
"Can we leave it open, Dollface?" You promptly pull back from his lips. Sunghoon's room is directly adjacent to the couch, where his two very jealous friends are still watching them.
"Leave it open!?" You whisper yell.
"Yeah," He bites his lip, hooded eyes swirling with arousal. "Lets leave it open so they can watch me fuck you."
You're head is spinning.
"I-why? Why would we do that?"
"Because. You're mine. And they don't fucking get that. Every time you come over, they push the boundaries more and more, and I'm not fucking having it. So let me fuck you with the door open, so I can show them that this pussy belongs to me."
Your brain goes fuzzy when he talks like this.
"I want them to hear your pretty moans when I play with you. I want them to see how you shake and lock me in with those pretty legs whenever you cum on my tongue. I want them to hear the way you call out my name and beg for me when I fuck you. Most of all, I want them to know they'll never have a fucking chance, pretty." He looks deep into your eyes, squeezing your chubby cheeks together and placing long kisses on your puckered lips.
"Be a good girl for Daddy, and help me put on a fucking show." This is all the convincing you need.
"Yes, Daddy."
His lips crash back on to yours, a clashing mess of teeth and tongue and moans. He separates just enough to trail kisses down your neck, fingers hastily pushing your tight little tank dress over first your hips, then your chest. He fastens his mouth around your nipple, nipping lightly at your bud as you writhe beneath him.
And he's so impatient today, so worked up over the thought of two of his closest friends watching him fuck that he can hardly force himself to slow down.
You watch as he slides your soaked panties down your legs, dangling them from the tip of his finger as he glances out of the open door. Your eyes grow wide as he twirls them around his finger, making his way back to the couch where Jay and Jake are seething.
"I bet you dumbasses would fight to the death over her wet panties." He smirks. A chuckle gets caught in his throat at the way their eyes darken with lust.
"I'll let the two of you have them if you ask me nicely." He teases.
"Fuck you-"
"Please!?"
Jay and Jake look at each other wide-eyed. Sunghoon isn't sure which of them said what, but he just tosses them onto the coffee table in front of them, sauntering back into the bedroom just as they begin bickering over who gets to have them first.
Sunghoon is met with the sight of your crossed arms, pretty nose up in the air.
"I don't recall giving you permission to do that. Those were expensive, and they came in a set."
"I'll buy you more, baby." He murmurs, kissing your pretty thighs as he spreads them far apart.
Your ire is quickly forgotten at the feeling of his kiss swollen lips ghosting over your engorged clit. Sunghoon knows your body so well, knows exactly how and where to kiss and lick and suck, having you seeing stars in a matter of minutes.
You're giving him exactly what he wants, moaning and gasping and rolling your hips into his eager mouth. He can't help but gently grind his dick into the mattress at the way you start moaning his name, begging him to finish you off.
"Yeah? You like the way Daddy eats you, baby? Your pussy tastes so fucking good. All sweet and creamy for me, huh?"
"Yes. Only for you, Sunghoonie. Only for you." Your gripping his hair now, forcing his mouth on your clit and shamelessly fucking his face.
"Fuck." You hear a deep voice groan.
The voice doesn't belong to your boyfriend, but to Jake. The sound causes your head to turn, curiously peering into the living room to see the two of them rubbing enticingly at the bulge in their pants, taking turns sucking on the wet spot in your panties as they watch you. And the needy, whiny tone of Jake's voice is so hot even though it makes you feel guilty just thinking that. You feel even more guilt when the sound of Jay whimpering makes your cunt clench around Sunghoon's tongue.
"Hey!" You feel a sharp smack to the side of your thigh, making you jump.
"Eyes on me, slut."
"Sorry, Hoonie." But it's too late, you've already been bad. So now Sunghoon won't let you finish in his mouth. You whine and complain as you watch him stand up, untying the string of his sweatpants. You feel a bit of pride at the wet spot on the front of them.
"I think they might be having just a little too much fun with you watching them. Maybe you could focus on me a bit better if I fuck you?"
That's all he has to say to have you begging for him, opening your thighs wide and toying with your clit as he watches.
"Please, Daddy? I want you so fucking bad. Take me? Please?" He looks like he's won the lottery.
"You want me, baby? What do you want me to do to you? Tell me. Nice and loud so they can hear you."
"I want you to fuck me. I need it, Sunghoon. Please?"
He's gripping your thighs and pressing them to your chest as soon as you finish speaking. The sight of his swollen head dragging through your slick to bump up against your throbbing clit will never get old for him. He's moaning loudly as he slowly presses his tip into your entrance, gasping as he sink in to the hilt. The initial clench of your pretty cunt around his cock has him seeing stars. His primal instincts are telling him you probably don't need a minute to adjust to his fat girth, that he should start fucking you fast and brutal right away. He feels so fucking territorial, wanting to fuck and breed you right in front of his friends, so they never make the silly mistake of flirting with you right in front of him again.
"They're watching us." You whimpered, burying your face into the crook of his neck as he starts to fuck into you. You're immediately shaking from arousal, so turned on from the situation, from the orgasm you never got to experience earlier, that you know you won't last very long at all.
"Want me to tell them to get lost?" No matter how much Sunghoon is dying to show you off in a display of dominance, your comfort will always come first for him.
"No. I want you to show them how good you fuck me. Show them you own this fucking pussy." You're speaking his fucking language now.
"Yeah?"
"Mhmm. I want them to-fuck, want them to take turns stuffing my panties in their mouths, and wishing they were you." Could you be any more perfect?
"You're a fucking perv." He hides his grin in your neck.
"A depraved little freak. I love you so fucking much." Another sweet kiss to your lips before something captures his attention. His best friends whining and moaning desperately as they take turns with your panties.
"Look at them. Their probably seconds away from jerking their pathetic dicks because of all the pretty sounds you're making, babydoll." He grunts, angling his hips to hit your swollen g-spot. Your grip on his hair returns, tugging roughly at the dark strands, pussy getting creamier at the resulting moans.
"You like it, don't you? You like knowing how bad they want me and knowing that I'll only ever want you, Sunghoon."
"I fucking love it." He growls, head falling forward to watch himself thrust into you.
"Keep fucking me just like that, baby. I'm gonna cum so hard for you." Sunghoon couldn't recall ever wanting to feel you cum this badly.
"Fuck, yeah! Wanna feel you so bad, baby. I'm gonna make you fucking scream for me." He was slamming into you now, retracting his long length all the way to the tip before slamming home again.
"Fuck! W-wait, Sunghoon! Sunghoon....baby!" He felt one of your hands come around his waist, wantonly gripping his ass in an attempt to keep him deep inside of you.
"Come on, baby. Take this big fucking dick." He grunted. His grunt turned into a moan as he felt you lock tight around his dick. You jerked fiercely beneath him, a loud scream escaping your lungs as you came around his dick.
Your hand tugging and yanking at his hair, your other hand still fiercely groping his ass, the clench of your cunt around him all sent him over the edge as well. He pulled out, crying out your name as he spilled his cum all over your battered mound and stomach, a few ropes of his cum even stretching out to cover your chest in a messy display of possession. He panted hotly into the air, soaking in the last few seconds of rapture, before untangling himself from you.
He stood naked as the day he was born, making his way to the door.
"Wait, don't close the door!"
"No, Sunghoon, don't-!" He slammed the door in their faces.
"Round two, baby?" He grinned.

â where lee heeseung realises he messed up too bad
đŠč pairing. toxic!bf! lee heeseung x f!reader w.c. 0.7k tw/cw. cursing, implications of cheating at end genre. angst/hurt sru's note. pls don't let this flop TT ( CATALOGUE?! )
€ feedbacks and reblogs are always appreciated!
heeseung's head aches more than ever, and for every second that he stares at the minimalist silver pendant sitting still between your collarbones, it's thin silver chain hugging your neck ever so softly, it aches even more.
and now it's the time for his heart. he physically cringes out of guilt when he watches you retract your hand away from his. he just wants to hold your hand in his, wants to embrace the soft warmth that once felt like home, that cosy and cordial sensation that gave him butterflies.
but now that is long gone.
it started with heeseung really. from your shoulders missing the embrace of his arm to his cheeks missing your tickling, feathery kiss. neither of you know when this started; an invisible wall growing between you two, and all you can do is sit and watch, letting the wall increase the distance you've already built in between you both.
âyou should focus on the movie insteadâ, your tone is boring, maybe even annoyed. or maybe none, heeseung simply doesn't know. he can't concentrate on whatever's playing in front of him, his eyes are fixed on your necklace, sending such visuals to his brain out of which he can only think of scenarios that hammers his heart even more.
the pendantsâ a heart. it's a fucking heart.
âyeah, i amâ, heeseung lies, again. just like the way he lied to you three months ago saying he would definitely attend your birthday party albeit his rough basketball practice.
you searched for your boyfriend's compelling face for hours that evening. waited for him the whole night, an hour passed by, then two, then three. every face in your apartment left and the one that should've been there by your side on the couch, holding you in his arms and kissing you all over, was not there. lee heeseung indeed broke his promise that day, along with a piece of you.
âreally? what just happened right now then?â, you yawn, munching on the caramel popcorn, a flavour you didn't really like. but heeseung is unable to answer your question right now, he doesn't find enough words to formulate a sentence and explain why he didn't really know what was going on in the movie. his eyes just mindlessly read over the subtitles at the bottom of the screen not really getting the context behind it, there are more vital thoughts in the back of his head, eating him alive in this moment.
heeseung mentally curses himself for instances that took place months ago. instances which once broke your heart, you cried over it, burying your face in the pillow and then eventually forgetting about it. instances that heeseung never cared enough to think about twice before going to bed, or use to reflect on his actions or even think about it.
but suddenly heeseung wishes he could go back in time and return to your birthday party that evening, he wishes he was not that casual to flirt with your best friend in front of you, he wishes he hadn't caused those meaningless arguments with you, he wishes he'd never told you that his ex was better. heeseung wishes he was a better boyfriend for you.
âthis one new?â, and heeseung's eyes are back on the necklace you were wearing, it's dainty silver heart infuriating him even more and he can't find the reason why. why the fuck can't he recognize the necklace?
âthis one?â, you very well know which one he means when you point at the silver necklace on your neck, or else why will you be sitting with your cardigan pushed all the way down to your collarbones? âyou gave it to me, don't you remember?â, you smile.
ânot reallyâ, heeseung trails off, a smile from you felt odd after days of cold shoulder from you. it doesn't feel genuine though, so he returns another fake smile hoping you wouldn't notice, âmaybe i forgot.â
heeseung can never forget, never ever when it comes to you. he might have been the worst boyfriend ever but he's dying for your touch right now, maybe playing hard to get in your own relationship got him? he can't bet on being âgood boyfriendâ all over again, he knows he fucked up. but he can bet on one thing though.
he swears and he swears to god and all his 23 years of life, he has never bought that necklace for you.
âcause why the fuck would it have a âJâ engraved on it?
