Fandom terms have to sound silly, like blorbo or squick, because fandom needs humbling. Not a lot. But just every so often you need a good grounding reminder that all of this is literally made up nonsense for fun.
If you take a fictional thing so seriously that silly words genuinely annoy you, you've gone too far and you need to dial it back.
yall gotta learn the difference between "this character is an asshole" and "this character was supposed to be super cool but the author is an asshole" and "this character is a teenage girl who was mean once"
so many liberals decry palestine being seen as an ‘omnicause’ but when the us govt is using criticism of israel as an excuse to curtail free speech and imprison/deport non-citizens and when israel uses gay rights or women’s rights as a way to whitewash its murder of women and children amongst 19388493 other examples, how can it not be
it’s a small thing but something i’ve noticed about Witch From Mercury is that this is probably the highest amount of plus-sized women i’ve seen in a single anime
I love kids so much. Yall are so brave and so strong. Sometimes i remember being a kid, and I have no idea how I survived. You have so little agency, so few rights, the world at large dismisses your thoughts and passions and tells you that you don't know what you're talking about, too young to feel your feelings. You're totally reliant on parents or guardians or other authorities who may choose not to respect or listen to you, who may use you as a target for their anger and frustration, who do awful things and tell you to "just deal with it", and you do, because there are so few other options. You're living in a world that refuses to treat you as a human being, and you're putting up with it. You're dealing with so much bullshit. It's amazing that you haven't just snapped. If nobody has told you recently, You're doing amazing. I'm so proud of you. You're going to get out of this and it'll all be okay. You're doing great
i think you can recognize that the usage of ai by students of all grades and all around the world to cheat through their assignments is not a personal moral failing but just yet another symptom of the mechanistic if not, at this point, basically dehumanized processes of our education systems which are nowadays almost solely focused on demanding production from students and churning out degrees required for jobs while ignoring any tangible verification of their actual knowledge, intellectual development and critical thinking skills, much less their mental health, while also pointing out that using ai to write your essay isn't a power move to cheat a flawed system, it is behaving exactly as the system designed, it is cheating yourself by giving up your ability to speak, think for and challenge yourself and bowing your head to powers who will only benefit from not being questioned, and the only reason text genai is so widespread right now is because it was born on the perfect breeding ground that is anti intellectualism
the phantom of the opera and the hunchback of notre dame? opposite ends of same spectrum
all politics about ai aside if you use it to create fanwork you're just a fucking dweeb
been (slowly) working on a calamity character lineup in my free time, here’s the besties Patia and Laerynn💛
I feel a lot of people have moral systems that are completely detached from centering avoiding real harm to real people and are mostly based on completely arbitrary obsessions with symbolic and abstract "wrongs" and gut feelings, and then they join progressive politics and make an absolute fucking mess out of everything with their weird little moralist obsessions that actually don't help improve anybody's life or serve any purpose besides making a few people feel morally superior. This is why for example anti-kink politics went from having a pretense of being about protecting vulnerable women from abusive men to just being very blatantly "if you have ever done kink at all you're ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew".
