I Hate Toby Having CIPA So Much 😭 Like Narratively It Fucks Hard Bc Toby Canonically Would Antagonize

I hate Toby having CIPA so much 😭 like narratively it fucks hard bc Toby canonically would antagonize his dad whenever his dad started to get aggressive. to put his dad's focus on him and not his sister or mother. Like literally the youngest person in the household purposely putting himself in physical danger to protect the women in the family because he knew he wouldn't feel the pain. Puppeteer canonically calls Toby "his favorite punching bag". Toby likely thinks of himself and his body that way. he is a punching bag. that's his job.

And admittedly it's terrifying to imagine Toby trying to chase down and kill you, and finally you grab hold of a weapon and stab him, and he has...no reaction. doesn't even flinch. doesn't even notice you stabbed him.

But realistically speaking his CIPA is hell to write for because you have to ignore the fact that Toby most likely would have bitten off his own fingers or tongue as a child because HE CANT FEEL PAIN. And with Tourettes causing his body to move in unpredictable ways no doubt his injuries get even worse!

You wanna know what people with CIPA are most likely to die of? Overheating. CIPA also makes you unable to sweat or feel temperature. HE LIVES IN THE WOODS!!! AND HE CANT SWEAT!!!!! He has NO way to keep himself cool while he's running around trying to kill people

I’m going to rant about this whole thing now. The fact that he removed the post AGAIN. Because of all the sensitive ass people complaining about it. If you don’t watch the show don’t comment on it. He wasn’t dressed like that for Halloween. (Which I’ve seen a lot of people on TikTok saying this was a costume) This was for a show! A show if anyone was watching would know is complete blasphemy. That’s the whole point of it. I don’t see what’s wrong with him just goofing around on set in between takes. This is a heavy show with heavy storylines. There’s nothing wrong with him wanting to do a TikTok dance. There’s also another video of him doing it with three other people. They were just having fun.

If something like this offends you, I hope you’ve never watched AHS, or anything Ryan has done. Or any sort of horror movie or show that has religious elements if you’re that easily offended. I’ve also seen people saying no one forced him to take this job or no amount of money is worth mocking god.

First off.. he’s not mocking god. Second.. So to make all of you happy he should turn down jobs that could really further his career???? I mean I know Ryan Murphy is a piece of shit. But working with him is actually a huge thing for an actor like Nicholas. So he’d be a fool to turn that down just because some of yall don’t like something. DONT WATCH IT.

Another thing that trips me out about this is so it’s okay for us to lust after him playing a priest that’s doing the most wildest, disrespectful shit with sister Megan in a church. It’s okay for us to fangirl over edits of him as Lyle Menendez, someone who’s a SA victim. But now THIS is where we draw the line and where we have to stop supporting him? Right. Okay, got it.

Who Are We To Judge?

My opinions on the #whiteboyofthemonth trend and toxic parasocial relationship, celebrity and internet culture

The obsessive fan culture surrounding "white boy of the month" is often VERY toxic. Every time like clockwork, people all over the world will decide to obsess over, a white (usually an actor) celebrity (currently Nicholas Alexander Chavez). Fans sexually objectify these individuals, writing obscene fanfictions example “Nicholas Alexander Chavez (notice; not the character he plays) × the reader" fanfiction while knowing he's in a whole relationship (which is disrespectful, not only to his girlfriend but to their relationship. If we witnessed a woman hitting on a man, knowing he was in a relationship, would we not all turn our noses up at her behaviour?)

People found out who Nicholas was dating, and proceeded to harass her on social media, drudging up whatever they could find about her (usually negative) and ripped her appearance apart.

I saw people saying that Victoria (Nick's girlfriend was had an issue with Taby (his previous co-star) and forced Nicholas to unfollow all his previous female co-stars from following him. Like were you in the room when that conversation took place? I saw people saying that she wore a matching shirt Nick and Taby had on Taby's birthday as almost like a dig at her. Like, y'all don't know these people AT ALL. He could have had his own reasons for doing so. You don't know Nicholas, and you don't know Victoria.

People are basing a lot of their 'evidence' on what they've found on social media and then making their minds up. People will infer things based on their own biases and not off of any definitive facts. Voicing your biased opinions on social media as fact is damaging, and unsuspecting individuals will take it as fact.

Then due to their obsession, ‘fans’ will then proceed to start digging up, and ripping apart anything they can find about the celebrity's past, being highly critical of every decision they've ever made in their lives and judgmental about situations they don't know nearly enough about to comment on, like people can't grow from who they've been or like they know the person and the thinking that went into every decision he's ever made.

My final opinions in regards to Parasocial Relationships

Having expressed my grievances about how inappropriate parasocial relationships are, I have to say, I'm not all too surprised they've reached the precipice that they have. Our society has always regarded celebrities and socialites (now influencers) as public property, collectively agreeing that is perfectly acceptable to invade the personal and private lives of actors, musicians and influencers just because they are in the spotlight. Why would someone having fame mean they are no longer entitled to privacy. Even thinking back to an argument I saw being had online about individuals wanting influencers to be 'real' and relatable. On the one side, some of those individuals were imploring that influencers stop peddling unrealistic standards to the public through the use of facetuning and passing off plastic surgery as the results of hard work in the gym and genetics. But some people want influencers to go deeper and talk about topics such as their relationship issues, both platonic and romantic, which respectfully, is NONE of our BUSINESSES. There is nothing wrong with people treating social media as a highlight reel and keeping their personal life PERSONAL.

My final opinions in regards to social media culture

Social media may not exist in the real world but we're interacting with real people, so why would our morals go out the window when interacting with a stranger online when we would treat the stranger on the street with for more curtesy and respect? Why do we feel comfortable ripping people apart just because we're not saying these cruel things directly to their faces? Why do we recognise ourselves as complex individuals, with feelings and sensitivities and not think to afford the person on the other side of the screen the same considerations? We've had these conversations before, where both celebrities and influencers have come out and explained that they see the hurtful things people write about them. I know some of you may say, "oh, those are just usually trolls", but they're not. They're everyone. We've created a culture where everyone wants to voice their opinions on everything in order to connect with likeminded people across the world, not realising that they don't just exist in an echo chamber, other people are going to see what you say about someone, some people might even take what you say about that person seriously, especially if you say it with conviction despite it being a simple opinion. But most importantly, the people you talk about might see what you have to say about them online.

After witnessing how the 80's media wrote and spoke about the Menendez's brothers abuse, how defense lawyers and prosecutors presented their cases in the two separate trials, and how it definitively affected the overall outcome and ruling of both cases

Versus

How the youth of today perceives the case after assessing the SAME cases, by accessing archival evidence through the internet and learning from each other (while also, of course, having different generational moral values to previous generations), we can recognise that there is difference in public perception of two completely different generations looking at the same case, and that difference comes down to words and the narratives that are circulated.

The Gen Z generation has had far more quick access to information due to the accessibility of the internet, and subsequently each other, where we can share our knowledge but also opinions with one another. Our perspectives on the world are shaped by each other, including the individual on the other side of the world. With globalisation, translation AI and global languages, we CAN learn about worldviews that exist outside of our physical locations/communities, therefore, we are far less suseptible to the hive-mind that could have impacted the rationales and opinions of prior generations.

We can't afford to act like words are mere flippant expressions of one's thoughts, opinions or intelligences. Your words have weight. We should be far wiser and more considerate with what we put online, what we say about each other and how we communicate with each other.

feat. a list of video sources, court tv feed, posts, and books surrounding the Menendez killings of 1989.

I am creating this masterpost as a general source for info regarding the Menendez Brothers. This is a case I’ve been studying for the past month or so and have become increasingly passionate about. I care very much about Lyle & Erik deeply and knowing how much their case has been coming to light over social media I thought it might be helpful to create a little hub here on tumblr. I am going to do my best but I encourage, of course, for anyone who wishes to add onto this post and please share it. There will be a lot of links so I’m sure this post isn’t eligible to make it anywhere beyond my own blog (due to however tumblr is functioning these days) however, please be aware *huge trigger warning* this case talks a lot about physical, emotional, verbal, mental, and sexual abuse of both brothers by their parents. It is a tough case and as such, some of the video/reading material may be hard to endure.

Unfortunately, I will not be putting any links from tik tok or instagram. I have neither and I know sexualizing the brothers on tik tok was a bit of a trend which I do not support. However, I am not against anyone else adding links as long as they are positive and not demeaning.

Lastly, I just want to say that I believe the best source we have for viewing and educating ourselves on this case is the CourtTv feed itself– aka. the first trial. There you will be able to see and hear Lyle (left) and Erik’s (right) story and listen to their testimonies. You will be able to see them and listen to all the evidence in order for you to make your own opinion’s about the case. I will provide a link below as well as a link to the transcripts of the Second Trial.

A BRIEF OVERVIEW:

For anyone who isn’t familiar with this case:

Lyle and Erik were convicted of killing their parents on the night of August 20th in 1989. They shot their parents s in their family home due to a lifetime of abuse as well as the strong belief that their parents were going to kill them. They were eventually caught and arrested several months after the killings and underwent their first trial three years later. They each had a different set of juries and defense lawyers (Jill Lansing & Michael Burt for Lyle, and Leslie Abramson & Marcia Morrissey for Erik). Despite the overwhelming evidence in favor of the defense, the jury was deadlocked and the trial was declared a mistrial. Had they been convicted during this first trial they would have faced the gas chamber and been killed.

During the second trial the judge threw out most of the defense and they were no longer allowed to talk about the sexual abuse. There were also no camera and they were only aloud witness’s to testify about the boy’s state of mind prior to the killings. They now had only one jury instead of two and Lyle did not testify during this trial. The jury also no longer had the option to convict them of “imperfect self-defense.”

In the end, both brothers were convicted of murder in the first-degree and sentenced to life without the possibility of patrol. Following the trial they were separated for more then twenty years, but are both now together, currently serving their time in the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility located in San Diego, California.

So I was doing some homework like 10 mins ago right. And I had to do a summary of The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne for my notes and tell me why I was reading it yk and Dimmesdale (who is a minister in the book who's having an affair with a married women) whips himself nightly for his sins. Idk what's wrong with me but my mind immediately went to Father Charlie Mayhew. Now I can't get it out of my mind that Ryan Murphy might've taken even the slightest bit of inspiration from the Scarlet Letter for that unique quirk of Father Charlie. Help me I'll never look at The Scarlet Letter the same again.
