Unfriendly reminder that having an anxiety disorder isn’t cute or quirky
Unfriendly reminder that chronic and severe depressive disorders aren’t something to be glorified or glamorized
Unfriendly reminder that eating disorders are legitimate problems for millions of people and have taken so many lives, and it’s not some cute fucking fad
Unfriendly reminder that it isn’t okay to romanticize depression, anxiety and eating disorders but still continue to stigmatize and stereotype Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Borderline Personality Disorder, etc
Unfriendly fucking reminder that mental illnesses aren’t for your aesthetics or to be thought of as some cutesy quirk or quality, they’re legitimate problems that people struggle with every single day and are to be taken much more seriously than they are
1. “Because introverts are typically good listeners and, at least, have the appearance of calmness, we are attractive to emotionally needy people. Introverts, gratified that other people are initiating with them, can easily get caught in these exhausting and unsatisfying relationships.”
Adam S. McHugh
2. “Often we come home from a sharing session with a feeling that something precious has been taken away from us or that holy ground has been trodden upon.”

Somehow our society has formed a one-sided view of the human personality, and for some reason everyone understood giftedness and talent only as it applied to the intellect. But it is possible not only to be talented in one’s thoughts but also to be talented in one’s feelings as well.
Lev Vygotsky, Russian psychologist (1896-1934)
are u ever too stressed to do anything like ur literally so stressed that it has reduced u to someone who stares at the wall for two hours instead of doing the things u need to do that will make u unstressed
depression after years of having it isn’t even sadness it’s just being exhausted and being allowed one (1) emotion a week and sometimes your brain is like “die” and you’re like “shut up brad”
I’ve noticed many of the smartest people I know, mostly premeds and medical students, struggle with depression and have for years. I wouldn’t have guessed if they hadn’t mentioned it. It seems odd to me that they do well academically and seem to have everything under control, but they themselves don’t believe they do. Also, to me, depressed premeds and med students seem like the norm now since I’ve met so many of them…have you noticed something similar? And what do you think may be the cause? -mademoisellepremed
I must say. I've been feeling more invisible than usual. I, too, am a minority. I, too, have been harassed, assaulted, and sexually assaulted by cops. I, too, have been discriminated against. I wish there were a biracial, first gen, gay role model. Niche market, amirite? Oh, don't forget with mental health issues and an intellectual living in the shadow of a brother with MR. I'm half tempted to just grab my backpack and live in the forest somewhere. Or pull a Margaret Cho, and be my own relatable role model. But instead, I'm scared into shutting down and hiding in my hellscape of a mind.
Without deep conversation, my mind becomes restless. I need passion and intellect, it’s a shame that a person often lacks one or the other.

So for those who don’t know, I’m planning on self-funding my PhD into Schizophrenia, looking to develop a new model for a therapeutic care technique to be implemented within schizophrenia support. I will be incredibly grateful to anyone who considers donating anything, anything at all towards this research and the struggle that will be the next few years of my life.

1. Choose to like, love, value, and believe in yourself. Choose to be your greatest allay – and the best friend you could have.
2. Ask a good friend if they’ll tell you what they like about you most. Then believe what they are saying – don’t just push their words aside.
3. Commit to discovering what you’re good at and enjoy, then invest time and energy on developing those traits.
4. Don’t exalt others’ gifts as if they matter more than yours. Every talent is important. Don’t right off your personal strengths.
5. Learn to show yourself compassion when you struggle or you fail. And remember “you are human” - so you’re going to make mistakes.
6. Notice ways that you are growing … ways you’re changing over time. Give yourself some credit for this – you are different from before.

We’re taught to be aware of external danger before the situation arises like a fire in a building, but no one teaches us how to be aware of internal/mental signs of danger like suicide or depression. Coping mechanisms should be taught before the mental danger, not after depression hits.
hey if ur reading this and ur in a bad spot mentally or anything i hope u feel better soon and have a good day

Two years ago, a research team led by Utrecht University published an article in Science explaining how they had created a material with unique and extremely interesting electronic characteristics. In this 'supercrystal’, the electrons move almost with the speed of photons, and the electric current can be switched on and off. This makes it ideal for ultra-fast electronics. But at the time, the researchers were at a loss to explain how this 'supercrystal’ obtained its unique structure. Now they have unravelled the mystery, and it appears to involve a completely different mechanism for crystal formation. This is an important insight for research into new materials with unique electronic characteristics. The results of their research were published online in Nature Materials.
The 'supercrystal’ develops when tiny nanocrystals form a perfectly ordered surface one layer thick. In this super-matrix, the structure of the atoms – A, B, A, B – precisely follows that of the nanocrystals itself. “But how such a neatly ordered super-matrix could be born from all of those nanocrystals was incomprehensible to us,” says Prof. Daniël Vanmaekelbergh from Utrecht University. “Now that we have insight into how the matrix is formed, we can conduct much more focused research into how we can make the structures that we would like to have.”

I’ve been really into incorporating art/creativity into note taking (especially for anatomy)! Not only does it make me more inclined to start studying but it also makes it easier for me to learn/retain what I just studied. P.s. Please give me credit when you share/repost pls
