concept: furbies but actual animals
City furbies are usually seen in large ruffles (groups), up to 20, in densely populated areas. They have adapted to living with humans and are a domestic breed. Most babies grow into dull colors, while some keep their vibrancy. The vibrant hues of some furbies are eye catching, making furbies popular pets.
Rural furbies live away from the cities, near the forests and farmlands due to sensitive hearing. They are quite shy and tend to stay away from people, but can rely on them for food and shelter. Ruffles of furbies can be commonly found near or in farm buildings. Their diet consists of any bugs or plants they can come across.
Tropical furbies live in humid areas, near beaches and on islands. There are multiple types of tropical furbies, wild, domestic, miniature, and bug.
Wild tropical furbies have small ruffles, usually up to 5 members. They aren’t very social and keep away from humans, constantly hissing and growling at passerby. Not much is known about them, for they are a rare sight.
Domestic tropical furbies live in small towns and villages, having ruffles up to 18 members. They are closely related to wild ones that are ocassionaly seen in the forests. Tropics tend to be very social towards humans and each other. Just as city furbies are, they’re popular pets.
Miniature furbies were specifically bred for their small size and are commonly mistaken for babies. They are extremely social and need a partner of another species to be happy and healthy.
Bug furbies are named so after the antennae on their heads. Ruffles can be up to 30 members. Not as popular as other tropics, they still make good pets nonetheless.

A scientific analysis of the Squirmle
(Based on my limited knowledge of worms, I have attempted to analyse the worm on a string as a real species of worm.)
The Squirmle, or worm on a string as it is commonly known, is a species of bristleworm. They’re classified under the class polychaeta for their many setae, which resemble fur. They’re free living marine worms. They have eyespots on top of their heads, which look like googly eyes. They’re not capable of full sight, and can only detect light. They have a single long antennae which is where they get the name, worm on a string, as it appears that they are attached to a string. They use this antennae to attract small prey by waving it around. The squirmle has a complete digestive system. And like some annelids, they’re hermaphroditic. They do not exhibit regenerative properties like flatworms do. Squirmle are segmented worms and have a true coelom.
The worm on a string is commonly found in shallow, tropical waters. They inhabit coral reefs, typically living in small burrows where they’re safe from predators. They’re often eaten by larger fish and eels. Their many colors are well suited for hiding among the brightly colored corals. Squirmles come in all colors and patterns. Including a rarely seen black squirmle. Their many colors help them camouflage among the brightly colored reefs.
They get their name from the way they move. They squirm through the water, earning the name squirmle. They can squirm quickly back to their hole at the first detection of danger. Adult Squirmles can grow up to 8.5 inches long and half an inch wide.
