Cyberform AU - Part 3

Cyberform AU - Part 3

Commune "Diego Garcia" (Autobot base for Cyberformed allies).

Warning: Attention: in this AU, all human allies of the Autobots are in the same universe (reality), for the sake of their psychological well-being.

Cyberform AU - Part 3

The human government is not particularly happy about the fact that Cybertronians can change humans. It is quite logical that this scares them, fortunately the Autobots and Decepticons are not very inclined to cyberform just anyone.

In fact, the government was largely unaware of this until 1984 (or later) when Sparkplug and Spike were reported "disappearing" (that's right, they were the first). Also, the Autobots became more protective and closed during the disappearance period, not allowing human agents into part of the ARC. This behavior and unwanted questions created a couple of unpleasant incidents (Optimus was not very happy, he had to regulate the resulting friction and calm everyone down, although he knew what was going on). Later, when the "new bots" appeared for special agents and later the government, the puzzle came together. It was not difficult, since the former humans were still less accustomed to the new realities of their lives, they willingly used human terms, concepts and names. In addition, the Autobots began to request human items, such as pillows and blankets, the size of a Cybertronian. (All in the name of adaptation, so that it would be easier for a person to gradually get used to the new, plus old familiar things were gradually replaced with Cybertronian ones, a slow transition did not allow the former people to get nervous once again).

This was shocking, but it was decided to hide this information, firstly, not to cause panic among the public, and secondly, there were few cyberformed humans, it was easier to turn a blind eye to the disappearance of a couple of people than to question a politically (and not only) advantageous alliance. In addition, the government believed that it could use former people against the Autobots themselves in case of danger (later this resulted in an extremely unpleasant situation for the cyberformed, due to which they quickly left Earth and moved to Cybertron).

It was decided to give the Autobots another place for this process, so as not to disturb the agents and not to cause unnecessary conflicts (the protective nature of the Cybertronians at some stages was quite unpleasant for the joint work of people and bots).

Diego Garcia Island: It is a former military base, but it was completely given to the Autobots to develop it and keep the cyberformed away from the public eye until they are ready to keep their secret. And so that the cyberforming process does not traumatize other people who are not so close to the Cybertronians ("What is not there, does not exist / there are no witnesses, no victims" - said the human government and pointed towards the island).

If a human ally gets to the island, then a special department cleans up all paper or other sources about this person, erasing them from the system as if such a person never existed, since he will not return to the world of people. Sometimes you have to bribe people, but usually threats and money are enough to make them keep quiet. The old data that is not deleted is sent to the island for the cyberformed themselves.

On Diego Garcia, the Cyberform Commune was created, they have their own leader, a management system, they also work to preserve important cultural parts of their lives. In the commune, former humans undergo final processes and treatment (they receive support from those who have already gone through this). They receive an education from the Autobots and a profession if possible (if their human profession has a Cybertronian equivalent). The commune is mostly subordinate to Optimus and other high-ranking Autobots (they mostly do not participate in combat missions, the Autobots collectively decided that their comrades are not yet mentally ready for such things, although some enthusiasts show a desire to fight side by side. However, there are exceptions). Diego Garcia, in a way, serves as a support function for the Autobots, there is also a large laboratory with a medical bay.

In a way, Diego Garcia is practically a Cybertronian city, a small settlement by human standards. Access there is mainly through the air, a ship or a space bridge.

Will u post on ao3?

Hi Anon! I don't really know if I'll post on ao3. I have an account there, but I didn't plan on posting anything there. However, there's really a lot of content on my Cyberform AU. So maybe I should think about it.

I literally have a plan for Lore Posts:

Will U Post On Ao3?

And that's not all of what's planned! Maybe later, when I have at least five main posts ready, then I'll start posting them on ao3. (There are literally two more posts left, in fact, before that amount). However, publishing there might be a bit difficult, but that's okay, I'll think of something.

And also, I think it's worth making a small announcement! Dear anons! You can address me as "Author", but my main nickname is "Sota"! But you can address me as you find it more convenient. Once again, I want to say that I am very glad for your interest! (sorry that there was no post yesterday, I was a little stuck at work, soon I will answer the questions you asked me)

The leadership structure of the Seekers

The Winglord theme is actually so interesting in itself. I like that most people in the fandom somehow unanimously decided that such a position exists, and it makes sense since the cities on Cybertron are city-states, meaning they have a local ruler/government and other structures.

On the other hand, it seems to me that Winglord should not only be a position of power, but also full of obligations. What is Winglord for? (Obviously, for governance, but its position cannot be just a privilege). What obligations can this position bear for the one who occupies this position. Here are my couple of ideas.

It seems to me that the Seekers' leadership structure is actually arranged like that of birds. Birds in nature do not actually have a leader. This concept simply goes to the oldest and most experienced birds, who stand at the head of the wedge. It is no secret that humanity, in its desire to conquer the skies, focused on birds, but what if Cybertronians do it differently? What if, in fact, Winglord is not a title earned by birth or inheritance like the same kings, but a title given to the most experienced flyer among all? Sounds good, plus it would explain why Starscream takes this place.

A Winglord is not a title that can be inherited, it is a calling that a true ace of his craft receives, anyone, be it forged or constructed, can receive it, age also plays no role. There is no luck or fortune in the sky, only cold calculation and the risk that the pilot is willing to take. In the process, you either succeed or die, there is no other way from it. A Winglord is a master of his craft, any noble king or general he will displace from their position with his skill. His task is to teach young seekers to reach their level of skill, as well as to provide weaker brothers with safety. If you give a Winglord a choice between his brothers and an imaginary leader (usually a bot, not necessarily having a flying altform), then he will choose his brothers. The duty of a Winglord is to care for the well-being of everyone, regardless of social status or work. If the previous Winglord dies, his fellow triads must take it upon themselves to finish his work, keeping the Seeker community safe and in order until a new bot can be chosen to take his place. Like birds in a flock, the Winglord and his fellow triads must lead their charges to a better future. (They do not have to be ready for this, as leadership can never be. Experience in leading others always comes with experience.)

I would compare Winglord to a person who received the flame of Prometheus for the first time. It is not only a blessing, but also the greatest duty to distribute this flame to everyone. An obligation that does not allow you to chicken out and retreat. I think Winglord's obligations consist mainly of preserving the number of seekers, he cannot allow even the weak to die, since this is a risk of losing the chance for the development of their society, losing the much-needed and vital primacy in the sky (flight is life). It can also be a vision of treaties, about better supplies, in exchange for the energon they found, they could set their own conditions (perhaps one of these conditions once became the city of Vos, because having your own city/settlement, you could avoid discrimination). The amount of obligations may vary depending on the political situation of Cybertron (I think during the golden age or pre-war period, Winglord was a status similar to King and was inherited because it greatly limited the seeker society, focusing them not on mastery but on the "military" path. This was a guarantee of stability, although it could cause unrest in the seeker society).

Many write that Starscream Winglord, probably during the war that we see in the comics, this is indeed true. Vos fell, the wonderful city in the "heavens" was destroyed, like other cities. There is a possibility that many senior Seekers who were there could have died. Starscream has always been ambitious, but as much as he craves leadership, he is also a master in flying (let's not deny it, after all, he hardly got his position only because of the "Beautiful Scarlet Optics"). Starscream not only could, but probably was a good leader for his comrades. He was definitely not ideal, but he learned this gradually gaining experience. Starscream has all the good qualities of a leader: charisma, intelligence, oratory skills. It probably also kept him in the position of Winglord for a long time, and also this management experience helped him become a good leader after the war (and although this is debatable, but I consider him a better leader than Windblade. He knew what problems Cybertronian society could face after such a long war. About those problems that preceded the war. He knew what he was managing, that he had the best potential… Honestly, this makes him even more tragic in my eyes)

Winglord is a duty to move society forward and take care of it, a guarantee of progress. Stagnation for this status means loss of independence for all seekers.

How do you define consent?

Hi Anon! So let's give a little warning before I tell you, because I don't want you to misunderstand me or think that I approve of some dubious things. Okay? Okay!

Warning: Dubious consent is not consent, okay? If you ask a person indirectly and he gives indirect consent, it is not consent. This is bad. You shouldn't do this. Consent should be given to a normal question. Direct question, direct answer. (If you are communicating with a person from another country, then before agreeing to something, clarify what he means. Because the person himself may not understand that his ordinary question in his culture means one thing and in yours another, this is normal, we are different).

In fact, I think that we humans and Cybertronians most likely have a striking cultural difference (Before arriving on Earth, they didn't even have a concept of gender, guys, what is understandable to us is obviously not understandable to them. And their cultural characteristics are incomprehensible to us, for example, discrimination by body type and function). That is why the topic of consent to cyberformation is extremely, well, complex.

What exactly is the problem with consent to Cyberformation. Rather, it is that when the Cybertronians first arrived on Earth, no one thought that they had a completely different culture. Well, more precisely, people thought about it, but not as much as they should have. The Autobots communicated and communicated well with people, were extremely polite whenever possible and cautious with earthlings. This created the impression that they had the same cultural norms as we do on Earth, this misconception was a mistake. Cybertronians have their own language, holidays, customs and other elements of a developed culture, so everyone seemed to have slightly forgotten that they were still aliens. This is not bad, it's just that this difference in culture was absolutely important for understanding. (We have a situation among different cultures where during communication we can say something that is common for one people, but unfamiliar to another. For this, we need to understand and study other cultures in order to avoid embarrassment).

When Cybertronians want to cyberform a person, they just have a normal conversation. There is no strange atmosphere, just a casual conversation during which there may be questions like “Would you like to explore outer space? / Would you like to protect your home planet? / Would you like us to be friends forever? / Would you like to see other planets?” and so on and so forth. The question can be anything, mostly from the area of what interests the person. Naturally, the person will most likely answer yes to such a question, and the Cybertronians perceive this as consent. Understand? For them, this is not a dubious consent, but simply “Yes”. This is just a normal conversation, so in essence, there is an embarrassment of misunderstanding between the person and the Cybertronian. Perhaps it is also precisely in linguistics, the language and sentence structure in Cybertronian can differ. This is precisely why there are not many “bad” reactions to cyberforming, they still exist yes. But I think it is difficult to be angry with someone when you both understand that there was a misunderstanding and confusion.

I hope you understand me. Cybertronians will not intentionally cyberform you if they refuse their question. For illustration purposes, there is a character in my AU who was not cyberformed because he gave a direct refusal.

Captain Carmine Fanzone, he worked with the Autobots and especially Prowl for a long time. He is an excellent policeman, loyal, although his attitude was still very specific, but he believed that the Autobots had good intentions (which was confirmed more than once). Captain Fanzone as an agent, monitored the Autobots' missions near cities to avoid attacks by Decepticons on civilians and to avoid traffic jams and reduce casualties to a minimum. Prowl considered him quite outstanding and his loyalty to his cause was respected by him. I think Fanzone and Prowl got along well, so when the topic of "Would Fenzone like to protect everyone" was raised in an everyday conversation, he answered that he did not. Fenzone simply explained that it was physically impossible to protect everyone and that he was simply doing everything in his power to help his people and those who trusted him. Prowl took it calmly and then did not ask such questions anymore, having received a refusal, he simply accepted someone else's choice and respected his decision to remain human and protect others. He didn't try to convince him that "if only there was such a possibility." Prowl simply knows that these words were a lie (even Cybertronians are not capable of protecting everyone, as a senior officer he knows this better than anyone).

Well, I hope you understand me correctly and my answer will satisfy you. Thank you for this question, it was really difficult. The topic is extremely difficult because, I hope I managed to convey my idea!

I LOVE your iteration for Jack, Miko and Raf, especially Raf. It seems universal that he usually resembles like Soundwave on any version of him as a cybertronian. Jack seems a bit too much like StrongArm and that didn't make sense. Miko looks great with the helicopter blades and the flyer aesthetic.

When I painted their images, the first thought was not only the similarity of colors, but also what function they would perform in the team. That's why Jack looks like StrongArm. He is the unofficial leader in the children's team, and therefore he looks more cumbersome. (But at the same time, I always associated him as a scout or warrior) Miko, despite her simplicity, will surely also be a warrior, she has an explosive and not calm character, so she will be an excellent addition to the Balkhead and Wheeljack teams. In addition, she is extremely stubborn, the thought of her appearance was to create something light, bizarre and dynamic, just like Miko herself. Raf was probably the signalman on the team (and maybe a doctor, but it seems to me that this function will be on the shoulders of June). I decided to make a little genius easy and fast, and also add a couple of elements from Sound, but already with some personal “features” for this child. In the end, Soundwave and Rafael confronted each other a couple of times, it was a terrific demonstration of their incredibly strong mind. I think everybody underestimates Rafael a little. What you wrote to me was very nice, thanks💖
