This is my go to method that I use most times I shift. I shift using sleep paralysis about 4 times a week and successfully. I like this method because it puts me in the thoughtless state which allows me to shift and allows me to focus. You don’t need to focus to shift but when I don’t I tend to just not want to shift anymore because I’m so consumed with other thoughts. This is not the void, however. I first shifted with this about four years ago, and have shifted with this method about 62 times that I consciously remember.
Step one: I can’t focus at all when I close my eyes and even if I do it in the day I take a nap. So for whatever reason I put my feet up on the wall. And I shifted the first time I tried. This helps me because even when I do nod off I wake up not long after. And I can actually focus on where I want to go. So I put my feet up usually with a blanket covering my legs and feet. It doesn’t have to be super high up where you’re uncomfortable. Just something even slightly raised helped me lots. I usually stay still because it puts my body to sleep and calms me. But you don’t have to if it’s too uncomfortable.
Step two: Oh, I’m usually listening to a playlist that reminds me of the place I’m shifting to or a moment or memory from my dr. That way I’m not scared by the silence when the sleep paralysis kicks in. Play it quietly so you don’t get annoyed and pick songs that aren’t too distracting. It should just kind of blend in the background. Then I start thinking about memories of my dr and moments. Usually in first person unless I’m looking at photos in my memories. If I nod off, I usually wake up from the unusual position and begin affirming naturally.
Step three: I usually forget I’m affirming and just shift immediately. I open my eyes and then I’m there. Or I get sleep paralysis where I affirm and think I’m there. And I wake up in my dr pretty soon after.
I’ve never failed with this method because I think it just fits well with me. It’s loosely structured and hits all my strengths in visualization, affirmations and so on. So I’d try this for three nights and if it doesn’t work. Apply what did and drop what didn’t. Anyways I’m so excited to shift for the summer to Okinawa. I think this one is just going to be a solo adventure with me and my five dogs. I might permashift from there but I don’t know yet. Does anyone else like to shift for holidays?
Happy shifting lovelies, you got this!
My sister SHIFTED on her second try. (she didn't even try)
Me and my sis discussed shifting three days ago. She has never been shifted before and somehow, I managed to make her a script literally for fun. In the script, we added—
• she will hear the ocean waves.
• the song “the end of the world” is playing
I made sure that she is safe in her DR and helped her find her DR hair, dresses and room.
She got int a lucid dream on her first attempt. (SHE HAD NEVER BEEN INTO ONE BEFORE)
She shifted on day 2 and she told me that she literally forgot about shifting and just wanna take a nap. She told me how real it was and she almost passed out when she saw herself in a nearby mirror with everything we'd scripted.
She then shifted again the next morning before she went to school because she was so stressed out. It took her less than 10 minutes to shift.
She explained that my inability to shift after three years of trying was due to my excessive excitement, advising me to calm down. Despite this, she remained calm and expressed her intention to shift further.
is it still casual huh.
I almost shifted again!!
I woke up early today and I was still tired but I had a really hard time going back to sleep,,
at first I was playing music from a playlist that remind me of the current reality I’m focusing on shifting to, but eventually I just shuffled through my liked songs cus it felt like, because it was a themed playlist, I was thinking too much about that reality and not on sleeping and I just really wanted to sleep
after a while I managed to go to sleep and I was dreaming and whatnot,, but similar to the last time this happened, I was in that weird state between awake and asleep,, so not entirely asleep and maintaining some consciousness
and soon enough I started getting the same tunnel/soul being pulled out of my body feeling that I got last time,, only it also felt like my body was moving??
I was laying on my side,, but I felt like I had completely turned over onto my back and my arms, that used to be by my side,, were now in front of me,,,
I’ve heard of feeling your surroundings change and feeling like your floating, but it literally felt like I had just completely rolled over, but I never did and when I went back to sleep I noticed that I was still in the same position I always was
I tried to stay rooted to that feeling and using it as a means to try and push my consciousness out of this body and into another but it didn’t work and eventually I just knocked out,,
I held onto the feeling for longer tho, which is improvement, but the main thing was that I experienced this again at all since it’s happened when I least expect it, albeit in similar sleep deprived scenarios
the next step, it feels like, is actually trying to push myself into my intended reality so I’ve gotta start looking for those final push posts, seeing what I think would work for me, and applying it
but I’m getting close!! any progress, no matter how shaky and imperfect, is still progress!
I didn’t shift, but I managed to get into that weird state of consciousness again and I know that it wasn’t just a fluke!
shifting is literally a hair away,, I just need to work on that final push
I ALMOST FUCKING SHIFTED! The spinning freaked me out dammit but I almost got there!
This is what I used, + I put hematite and clear quarts on me and laid in a starfish position with a sleeping mask since it’s during the day

“The Daily Prophet and their flobberworm of a head reporter can keep their drama— we don’t twist our stories to fit some stale Ministry narrative.” — The Editor-in-Chief of The Puffinton Post
THE PUFFINGTON POST is a chaotic yet strangely efficient operation run out of a repurposed classroom on the third floor (which is lovingly referred to as The Quillery.) run by a rotating team of overachievers, gossipmongers, and one sleep-deprived layout wizard, it’s both a battlefield of deadlines and the social pulse of the school. the editors use enchanted Quick-Quotes Quills to speed up production, though it’s anyone’s guess if the quills capture actual facts or just the juiciest version of the truth
HOW IT’S RUN
the team is led by an Editor-in-Chief (usually a loud, opinionated seventh-year), assisted by a handful of section editors who wield red-inked quills like weapons. each week, they hold heated brainstorming meetings, where the room crackles with enchanted floating parchment and enough spilled tea (literal and metaphorical) to fill the Great Lake. submissions are open to any student, but staff writers get first dibs on big stories—assuming they can charm the editors, who love a bit of drama
THE NEWSPAPER TEAM
REPORTERS . scout the juiciest gossip, biggest news, and weirdest happenings on campus. practically unstoppable, they’ll dive into the Forbidden Forest for a scoop if it means landing the front page
EDITORS . ruthlessly revise articles and argue over headlines, aiming for maximum drama without ending up on a professor’s radar
PHOTOGRAPHERS . armed with charmed cameras that capture moving images, they often risk life and limb chasing Quidditch players mid-match or snapping Peeves in action
ILLUSTRATORS . craft whimsical moving cartoons or hauntingly detailed sketches, depending on the tone of the piece
LAYOUT TEAM . use advanced spellwork to arrange articles, images, and enchanting advertisements that sometimes wink at readers
SECTIONS & NOTABLE STORIES
HEADLINE NEWS . covers Hogwarts’ biggest events. Recent splashy stories include “Are the House-Elves Planning a Union?” and “Hagrid’s Pumpkin Patch: A Site of Magical Growth or Magical Mischief?”
QUIDDITCH CORNER . tracks team stats, with columns like “Is Gryffindor’s Seeker Actually a Golden Snitch Magnet?”
SOCIAL SPOTLIGHT . a slightly catty, endlessly entertaining rundown of who’s dating, who’s fighting, and who’s been caught sneaking butterbeer into the Astronomy Tower
MYSTERIES & ODDITIES . a deep dive into Hogwarts lore, featuring pieces like “The Hidden Staircase That Eats Shoes” and “Who Really Haunts the Fourth Floor Lavatory?”
OPINION & SATIRE . snarky takes on everything from new potion regulations to the controversial topic of house unity, with regular features like “Why Ravenclaws Think They Know Everything” (written by a Ravenclaw)
CREATIVE SHOWCASE . poems, short stories, and student artwork, like “An Ode to Dobby” or fine-tip pen sketches of the Black Lake’s grindylows
DISTRIBUTION
The Puffington Post is distributed every Friday morning via enchanted paper airplanes that zoom directly to breakfast tables in the Great Hall. the magic wears off if you take too long to read, so dawdling isn’t an option. prefects often complain about students reading under their desks during Charms, but professors secretly subscribe, too.
SPECIAL EDITIONS (every one is a chaotic affair, jam-packed with so much Hogwarts spirit you can almost smell the butterbeer stains on the parchment)
— THE VALENTINE’S SPECIAL : Love, Lies, and Lacewing Potions
this edition is dripping with enchanted hearts and aggressively pink margins, with stories like “Top 10 Secret Spots to Swoon Your Sweetheart” and “The Most Romantic Love Potions You Absolutely Shouldn’t Use (But Totally Will).” the gossip column goes full throttle, outing secret crushes (with questionable accuracy), while the Creative Showcase features poetry so sappy even Madam Pince has been caught dabbing at her eyes
— THE FIRST-YEAR SURVIVAL GUIDE : Sorting, Snitches, and Surviving Snape
released every September, it’s a crash course for newbies. expect practical tips like “How to Get the Moving Stairs to Chill” and “10 Ways to Not Cry in Potions (Impossible, But Worth Trying).” veteran students contribute anonymously to the “Unofficial Rules” section, which includes gems like “Don’t Look the Bloody Baron in the Eye” and “If Fred and George Weasley Offer You Candy, Run.”
— THE YULE BALL EDITION : Fashion, Feuds, and Footwork
a glossy, glitzy masterpiece with enchanted images of past Yule Ball outfits and step-by-step charms for fixing last-minute wardrobe disasters. the Social Spotlight section is essentially a pre-ball betting pool on who’s showing up with whom, while Opinion dives into debates like “Should Durmstrang Boys Be Banned from Stealing All the Dates?”
— THE END-OF-TERM SPECTACULAR : Grades, Gags, and the Great House Cup Debate
published in June, it’s part celebration, part roast. professors get “awards” (like Flitwick for Most Patient and Snape for Most Likely to Kill You with a Glare), and there’s always a cheeky exposé on house-point shenanigans. expect tear-jerking farewells to seventh-years alongside brutally honest year-in-review recaps, like “Was That a Troll in the Dungeon or Just Another Tuesday?”
EXTRA, EXTRA !!
— RIVALRY . there’s a (very one-sided) feud with The Weekly Wizard, a smaller Ravenclaw-run zine, though it’s been dismissed by most students as “too niche and painfully dull”
— BEHIND THE SCENES . the staff always keeps a stash of Honeydukes’ chocolate for late-night edits, and their mascot—a tiny enchanted quill named Zippy—flits around leaving motivational doodles on unfinished articles
if Hogwarts has a pulse, The Puffington Post is the enchanted quill jotting down every thrilling, bizarre, and scandalous beat

(sleep paralysis/lucid dream(¿)
i wake up at 10 am
i stay up for max 2 hours
in that time i may watch stuff that reminds me of my dr or maybe read some shifting storylines to give me more motivations
if i start to yawn and my eyes feel watery that’s my cue to go back to sleep
i get into a comfortable position and after 10 minutes i feel symptoms of sleep paralysis which is
vibration/frequency sound
legs feel weak
once i enter sleep paralysis. i imagine my dr surroundings and say “i am in my dr”
i immediately feel my surroundings change
most of the times i enter a lucid dream too
i have problems with grounding myself so that’s where it usually ends but i will do this method again and let you know how it goes.
if you have questions feel free to ask.
Please please look here before sending another ask about it. If it’s a unique question then it will be added here. Instead of answering each individual ask. I just combined them here. Each question is a paraphrased version of your ask. If you weren’t anonymous I tagged you, or if you left an emoji I put that in the question to indicate what was yours.
How do I induce sleep paralysis?/I noticed you mange to get sleep paralysis and since I'm trying to get it to for the void state, do you have any tips for a guaranteed way to enter sleep paralysis and maybe your method too?/For sleep paralysis I only need to lie down and wait for my body to fall asleep and my brain thinking I am already asleep right?/ I’d like to ask if you listen to anything while inducing it ? And if you affirm for sp or the mantra “mind awake body sleep" ? / I just wanted to ask if you had any methods or tips for people who struggle with inducing sleep paralysis also is there a DR that you visit frequently 🌻 💙 (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)
I’ve always naturally had sleep paralysis. If usually occurred when I was scared or on edge at night. I sometimes got it in an unfamiliar location. Sleep paralysis was something I started to get around ten to twelve, when I’d be scared at night. I’d wake up in it at night and later began to shift through it. But eventually I stopped getting it so I started to induce it. I usually wake up throughout the night anyways. I’ve always have. So once I make myself kind of paranoid. I lay down to sleep and close my eyes for about 5 minutes. As I fall asleep I open my eyes for about a minute. And I kind of do that over and over again until my eyes are heavy. Then I just wake up in sleep paralysis once I’m finally asleep. But I don’t always have to induce it and sometimes still wake up in it. It only takes me about five minutes to shift from it. I don’t listen to anything because I usually wake up in the middle of the night with it and my AirPods are already dead by then. When I affirm, I just say whatever I want. Usually it’s I’m shifting or specific affirmations to my dr. I usually but it can be longer like fifteen minutes. The dr I visit the most frequently is probably my main dr because it’s very chill old money vibes.
Do I have to be in sleep paralysis or some altered state to shift?/Is Sleep Paralysis necessary because I like to shift from it?
No. Definitely not. You can shift however you want to. I personally shift a lot of the times by just thinking about where I want to go. So you can do whatever really. The only commonality about every shifting success was that I eventually became so focused on my dr that I wasn’t thinking of anything else and convinced I was there. Every method and state is kind of to help get to that point.
Aren’t all methods, including sleep paralysis, dependent on mindset, like needing to convince myself that I can achieve it or shift from it? Should I try to push past the doubts and fully convince myself that I can do it?
There is no need to fix your mindset to achieve sleep paralysis or shift from it. Plenty of people do both of these things without knowing and with no knowledge of how it works. I don’t why people still think a mindset change is necessary. It’s only as necessary as you make it. I never changed my mindset instead I kind of just trust that whatever I do it’ll work out just how it needs to. But I’ve always kind of been like that. If you feel like changing your mindset will help you trust in yourself. Then do it. But all you need to do is trust yourself.
Doesn’t getting sleep paralysis feel like when you shift? Like when you get SP it’s instant and you just KNOW you’re in there, is it the same with shifting?
It’s kind of like that I guess. I’d put it more closely to falling asleep where it’s kind of gradual with sounds and smells, and then all of a sudden your asleep or there and everything loads instantly into your mind.
And I was wondering what is the next step when in SP? Do I just affirm and visualize my dr and it manifests instantly?
Usually once I get into sleep paralysis, I just start affirming and thinking about where I’m going. Sleep paralysis is not the void state. At least not in my experience. When I shift through sleep paralysis it takes maybe five minutes. And I hear sounds and smells, and then I shift. While with the void state it is instant.
Should I keep trying to induce sleep paralysis despite feeling scared, or should I explore other methods?
Not if it makes you feel uncomfortable. Methods only work (at least for me) if you want to be doing them. If you’re just doing it because everyone else is. It’s just going to make you drag your feet about it. Explore other methods and if that feels better keep going.
How do you push through the state when your body resists falling asleep while trying to shift with sleep paralysis, and has this ever been an issue for you?
Just chill out really and don’t care about it. Just focus on what outcome you want from it. I.e. your dr. I usually fall asleep first then wake up later on in the night. And then either get sleep paralysis or try to induce it. You should ideally be awake but not too awake. And do not turn on your phone at all. For any reason.
I experience sleep paralysis daily, so I’ve been trying to shift with it, but I can only get to the point where my body feels like it’s in a different position and I’m visualizing my desired reality, but can’t progress further./Could you offer any advice or tips to help me successfully achieve sleep paralysis for accessing the void, as I’ve only experienced some heat and vibrations so far?/I want to try shifting through sleep paralysis, but I either fall asleep or end up moving after 45 minutes of trying; do you have any tips to help me stay in the paralysis state?
Just keep going with it. If it feels right just keep trying it until you find a rhythm that works for you. It might be a good sign for you that you are feeling something. Especially if you never felt any type of symptoms with shifting. I can only really tell you to experiment with different things and see what gets you closest. And what makes you feel the most positive. However, if you feel it’s not working. Or if you tried everything and it doesn’t work. Then it might not be for you or you can just detach your emotions from the method. And just do it for fun and not to get anything out of it. The only tips I can really give you is to somehow do the opposite of whatever you’ve been doing. If it hasn’t worked so far then flip it on its head. Try a more uncomfortable position, do affirmations of don’t do them. Just experiment with them.
Do you have any tips for overcoming the discomfort of the “roll over signal” when trying to manually induce sleep paralysis?/Is it normal to feel a burning weight on my back during sleep paralysis when trying to shift, and should I wait longer despite the discomfort to see if it eventually works?/As soon as the roll over signal disappears and I feel like heavy I start to “panic” because I feel so close to shifting which makes me sabotage my own attempt?
When that happens to me I just focus on the itching going away and think of myself scratching it. It usually goes away after a bit. It just feels really bad while it’s happening but lasts about four minutes. So just keep pushing through. I take things like that as I sign I’m shifting when I’m uncomfortable. Because usually when I’m uncomfortable I’m close to shifting. Because the itching or burning is more of an illusion. Whenever I stop to scratch it’s literally not there. So I just think of it to be as a hurdle I have to cross. And just continue to wait longer and distract myself. Just take it easy really and observe and relish in the journey of getting there. You’re going to shift eventually just watch it come to pass.
I want to try this but the sleep paralysis thing scares me😭 I’ve never even experienced that (that I’m aware of) but the idea of it freaks me out. Is it scary?/How do you get into a sleeping paralysis 😭😭 it kinda sounds scary because when I think of sleeping paralysis I think of these demon looking things .. is it even the same thing??
I don’t think it’s that scary. When I have it I’m pretty calm. A little freaked out that I can’t move but it’s pretty easygoing. I’ve never experienced hallucinations while in it but some people do. Although I think the amount of people that do isn’t that much. As a lot of people probably get it but never talk about it because it’s not remarkable.
Hi!, do i have to open my eyes when i enter sleep paralysis or can i keep them closed and still shift because during sleep paralysis my eyes aren’t open i just see black, thank you.
Good question. Again sleep paralysis is not the void state. Whenever I have had sleep paralysis I can’t move anything at all. It’s kind of forced to be closed because you cannot move anything at all.
How are you, Leyden? I am a beginner shifter, at some point I can easily get to paralysis sleep and control my dreams, however sometimes there are moments when doubts or fears kick in, but I always try my best to convince myself to believe that I can shift (I had mini-shift) So, as you said earlier on, one of your posts you always knew that you are meant to see others realities, and that is happening with me, deep inside I know the reality I'm in right now is not where i should be, like I don't know how to explain, but I know I was born for something bigger. I'm only 17 years old 😅 I simply wanted to share my thoughts, because, I think I'm close for something.. anyway, thank you, Leyden. Your posts are the best! 🐆
Thank you so much! At first it was hard to convince myself that I could actually shift. But the more you do it the more real it becomes. To kind of relieve the doubts. I would kind of soothe my brain to stop caring about what you’re experience. And just take it in for what it is.
Hi! I have a question—last night I tried WBTB or SP, but I kept getting scared when my heart started beating fast. Later, I think I fell asleep on my side but woke up unable to move, with everything vibrating and only hearing the music I was listening to—was this sleep paralysis or something else?
That definitely seems to be sleep paralysis. Usually you can hear when you have it. At least I can and I often feel the vibrations. So congratulations!
That’s all the asks I have as of now about sleep paralysis. I hoped that answered all of them.
