Guys, you know the whole “James’ type is people who are mean to him” thing?

I think it’s because they make him feel like a real person.

I am forever pushing the “James struggles with feeling like a real person agenda” and I think that initially Lily/Regulus genuinely didn’t like him as a person and that is what made him initially attracted to them. James is one of those “everyone loves him, he’s a literal ball of sunshine” people. But James is nothing if not a people pleaser so he’s always trying to be someone that people like and sometimes he’s not sure that the person he is, is real or just an act.

But they don’t like the person that he shows everyone (because they can subconsciously feel that something is off with James). And no one (excluding Snape and people he doesn’t like because he’s not performing for them) has ever told James that they don’t like him.

So he tries to win both of them over but it doesn’t work because he’s trying to win them over with this not-real-person side of himself and he only wins them over once they see the real James. So by not liking this fake person and seeing through his mask they’re inadvertently helping him learn how to be himself and not be putting on a show all the time.

The first time he says “Lily” it’s in their first year, first time around the gigantic Gryffindor table. It’s the first time they meet. It surely won’t be the last time he says her name, they have seven years ahead of them.

The fifteenth time he says “Lily” is in Flying Class. He usually refers to her by her last name, he doesn’t care if she likes it and she doesn’t care if he does. It’s a mutual agreement. As Lily’s feet take off the grass, James is the first one to congratulate her.

The 68th time he says “Lily,” is in their second year and he needs his ink back. Lily is known to get lost while she is writing a Charms essay, she gives it back with a small smile.

The 97th time he says “Lily” is in their third year, he almost never uses her name anymore, they don’t talk much anyways. She finds him obnoxious, he finds her magical. it’s stupid, they are young.

The 103rd time he says “Lily” is when he is unable to control his anger. It’s the first time he hears the word Mudblood. Lily gives him stares as cold as ice before she deals with Lestrange herself. It’s in their fourth year, they barely talk now.

The 159th time he says “Lily” is in front of everyone but it’s barely a whisper. Snivellus glares at him and others snicker. It’s right after an exam, he makes a fool of himself. They stop talking. He doesn’t think he will ever say her name again.

The 171st time he says “Lily” is when he is drunk with the other Marauders. They really don’t speak anymore, not even for common courtesy. She hates him and he deserves it. He takes another shot of Firewhiskey and talks about how the drink reminds him of her hair.

The 202nd time he says “Lily” is the first day of seventh year. He acknowledges her presence, gives her a stern nod. They are Head Boy and Head Girl after all. She gives a shy smile. Something’s changed.

The 209th time he says “Lily” he is having a hard time breathing. His mother is gone and he is in shambles hiding in Minnie’s class, crying. He hates it when people see him crying, she holds his hand.

The 257th time he says “Lily” it’s between short breaths. Her nails in his back, his fingers in her hair, his arm around her arched back. It’s both urgent and relieved. Everything becomes undone.

The 268th time he says “Lily” it’s followed by a whispered “I love you”. She is taken aback but she says it back and he thinks “this is the happiest moment of my life.

The 308th time he says “Lily” it’s a scream as he catches her after she is struck with a curse. His scream rips through the night as he carries her while sending curses left and right. He is not one to leave his friends behind but for her, he doesn’t think for a second more.

The 315th time he says “Lily” is when he asks her to marry him. She says “yes”, it’s a miracle. He can’t believe it, he can now call her by her name forever.

The 329th time he says “Lily” is when they are getting married. Wands hidden in their robes and eyes teary, they say “I do”. He still can’t believe she said yes. He calls her by her name more often now, “Evans” doesn’t have the same ring to it anymore. 

The 389th time he says “Lily” is when her belly is as big as her and she says it’s time. 

The 391st time he says “Lily” is when he holds his son for the first time. He is crying happy tears for the first time in many months.

The 476th time he says “Lily” is when he tells her they have to go into hiding. He is the one to give her the news that their son is marked for death. It breaks his heart to a thousand pieces but he stays strong for them. 

The last time he says “Lily” he knows, he knows it’s the last time he says her name. He savours it, he lets it hang in the air for a moment before he lets it go, then he puts himself between him and them. No one says “Lily” like him ever again.

Pronouns are words used to refer to yourself and others. I, We, You, Your, He, She, They, You're, Theirs, His, It, Herself etc are ALL pronouns, it's very hard to speak English without using them. Singular They/Them has been used for centuries. The word "You" used to only be used for groups, see how language evolves.

Cis and Trans are Adjectives which are describing words. Cis is not a slur or a pronoun. Cis is a Latin prefix that means "On the same side of" whereas Trans means "On the other side of."

Puberty Blockers were first created in the 80s to stop children from starting puberty too early. Children can get their period as early as 7 years old and a child shouldn't have to go through that. The effects are completely reversible, all the child has to do is stop taking them whenever they're ready and they'll start their puberty again. You only have a problem with puberty blockers when Trans kids use them.

No doctor is performing gender affirming surgeries on under age children (except for intersex children and babies), there's so much that you have to do before even being approved for top or bottom surgery (or any kind of gender affirming surgery), it's also very expensive, none of this would ever be performed on a child.

Drag Queens reading stories to children or dancing for them isn't any different than hiring a professional to dress up for your child's birthday party or going to Disney World where everyone is dressed up and playing characters. There is absolutely nothing inappropriate about Drag Queen story time. Drag Queens wear far more clothing than literally any of us. If you're fine with taking your child to Hooters or to a sports game with cheerleaders but you have a problem with Drag Queens... You sexualize Queer people and say it's inappropriate for us to be around children yet you have no problem with over-sexualizing women if it's for your entertainment and you have no problem with your child seeing it.

Barty: "Pissing my dad off... *Reg gives him a look* I'm joking, I'm joking. *Reg looks away* I'm not joking. I love watching kids fall. It always gives me a good little giggle. Piercings and tattoos. Oh! That fucker" *points to evan*

Evan: "things that make me happy? Blood, surgeries, dead things, funerals and barty I guess, especially when he's covered in blood."

Pandora: "I like flowers. Paint makes me happy, especially when I'm painting something pretty like flowers or sunsets or corpses or landscapes. I like regulus too. He's very... lovely. Evan is very lovely too and it also makes me happy when he hangs up my paintings. Divination is happy."

Dorcas: "Quidditch. Clothes and fashion. Marlene. Marlene makes me happy. And my friends. Regulus, Pandora,Barty, Evan and the rest of them. School. Hogwarts makes me happy cause that's were all those things are."

"I'm just saying, if I was you I would not care so much. Your literally rich!" Barty argued, looking around the table trying to get someone else to agree with him.

Regulus rolled his eyes. "Your rich too. And, you know how my parents are about grades."

"REGGIE!!!" A small voice - a child's voice? - cut of barty and before Regulus could even register what was happening, a small child was climbing onto the bench beside him.

"Reggie!" The kid jumped onto regulus lap and hugged him. Regulus looked down into the familiar eyes.

"James!?" James. His James. James Potter. But...five. he was five years old. No. That's not right. His James, his Jamie, he was seventeen. This James was small and he had chubby legs and his checks were rounds and he was 12 years younger than he should be.

"Regulus what the fuck?" Evan looked between his friend, the toddler and the rest of the Slytherin table, who were all looking at the pair.

"I...I umm" Regulus picked up his boyfriend... oh no that's weird. And ran out of the hall, through the corridors and to the slytherin common room. He muttered the password and slipped inside, ignoring the weird looks he got from the few people who weren't at lunch in the common room and went straight upstairs.

"It's scawy in 'ere." James mumbled when Regulus sat him down on the bed, looking around the room.

Regulus stopped pacing and crouched down infront of the boy, giving him a gentle smile. "I know, baby but I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise." And that seemed to calm him a bit.

Regulus climbed onto the bed and crossed his legs, James climbed and sat between them, giggling when regulus played with his curls.

"Jamie? What happened?" Regulus asked, James turned round in his lap so he was looking up at him with those big brown eyes.

"Potion went boom!" He exclaimed, giggling and throwing his arms in the air, almost hotting regulus and he couldn't help but laugh.

Just then, the dorm door flew open and Barty, Evan, Pandora and Dorcas all stepped in, stopping at the door and watching the interaction.

"So it's true then? Potters a toddler." Dorcas laughed. She hadn't been at lunch she's been 'studying'. She walked over and sat on the bed, ruffling James curls which made him stick his tongue out at her. "He's still at the same maturity level then."

James eyebrows furrowed. "What that mean?"

They laughed.

"Hopefully it won't last long." Pandora commented, resting her head on regulus shoulder.

"How the fuck did that happen?"

"Potion went boom apparently." Regulus shrugged.

Lily: "My friends happiness. If the people I care about are happy, it always makes me happy. And Mary. Mary makes me happy. I love her. Books too. Magic. Magic makes me really happy. It's just so...magical. And taylor swift. Her music makes me happy, it can make me cry but it can also always make me smile. Depends on the song."

Mary: My girlfriend. She makes me happy. Nothing else matters. Friends and family too, I suppose. I'm always happy when I'm with my brother, atleast a little bit. Quidditch. I guess anything I'm really good at and I'm amazing at quidditch. And muggle things. I'm love magic, don't get me wrong but doing things the miggle way is so... refreshing."

Marlene: Quidditch. Oh I love quidditch so much. It's so freeing to be up in the sky, wind blowing in my face and my hair blown back behind me. It's one the pitch where I fell in love with...Dorcas! She's another thing. She's so pretty. My friends. James can be a dick sometimes and lily's a little bit too much like a mum but I love them. My pink guitar. It's very important to me. And... concerts. I love concerts."

Peter: "I love chess, I'm really good at it. I love my friends too, all of them. I've known James and Marlene and Barty as long as I can remember but I love Lily and Remus and the rest of them just as much. Sirius too I suppose. Oooo Christmas and slumber partys with the girls. And quidditch, I don't play but I'm always happy when I watch."

Sirius: "Music. Bowie and Queen and all the greats yk. And my motorbike. The Potters always make me happy. They've done so much for me. Regulus makes me happy too. He was the only thing at one point. And Remus too obviously. He's my everything."

James: "Regulus makes me so happy. Everything about him. His hair and his eyes, their so pretty. Their grey and blue and silver and there's a little green too...........*rambles about regulus for ages* so that's one. My family, my mum, dad and my brother, Sirius. OH! And my friends. Remus, Peter, Lily, Marlene, Dorcas, Mary and the rest of them. Quidditch makes me happy too. Especially when I'm playing with my friends and Regulus or Sirius. And for my final one, making other people laugh so...pranks."
