I just did a huge inactive purge and now I'm looking for active witches to follow.
Send me suggestions or follow back and say hi!
You are Brave (5/5)
6. Day of WITCHMAS ๐๐๐
If you're like me and don't really like the cold and darkness of winter, this post is for you.
As someone, who is fairly connected to the sun's energy I really miss it around the time of Winter Solstice. So here is a list of things you can do, while waiting for the golden star to come back.
Decorate your home with lots of golds, yellows and bronzes
Decorate your home with Sun imaginery
Burn cinnamon, frankincense, orange, ginger or bay insence
Burn candles
Buy fairy lights
Sit around a bonfire or fireplace (or just put one on in your TV/computer)
Stay warm and cosy
Eat some cosy foods - great are some spicy dishes, soups and brews
Drink ginger, chamomile or cinnamon tea
Spend as much of a time as you can in direct or indirect sunlight
Hang dried oranges around your home
Meeting a Dragon (Guide, Guardian, or Otherwise)
Disclaimer: the information I give is a mish-mash of personal experience, research, experience in study groups and other people's accounts. I don't claim to know the absolute truth. I'm just here to help!
Just like any other type of spirit work you do, to connect with the right type of spiritual being you'll need to be in the right mindset. The more powerful and high frequency the spirit is at, the harder it can be to attune to their vibration.
For connecting with dragons I reccomend you do some heavy work on cleansing the environment and yourself, as well as make sure you have strong protections (how to do that is a matter for another post). Offerings prior to any ritual are also a great idea.
And after all the cleansing you will need to keep your negative thoughts and emotions in check as to not energetically upset the balance you have achieved. Of course, it's impossible to never experience these, so when you do it will be good to remind yourself to keep calm and return to a state of peace.
You may wonder - do I even have a dragon guardian? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, if you want to connect with any dragon willing to help you out you will need to do some introspection and evaluate things such as:
If I meet a dragon, what will I do with that information? What is my purpose? What is my goal with all of this?
Knowledge for the sake of knowing it is useless. You are far more likely to get a response from any spiritual being if you intend to do something with the information you're asking for, otherwise you're just wasting their time and energy to entertain a selfish curiosity.
After you have aligned your goals, energy, environment and mindset it's time to actually try to get in touch.
Do keep in mind that how successful you are can varyย a lot depending on how keen you are to sensing energies, experience, whether the technique works for you and whether the dragon actually thinks if you're ready to meet them or not.
I recommend you try to "set the mood". You definitely DON'T need to do all of these or get a lot of supplies, but if you think you can get your hands on these things they may help you connect more easily:
Turn on music that you think matches the draconic energy you are looking for.
Gather elements of nature such as rocks, plants, branches and crystals that you feel are right for what you are doing. Remember to always ask for permission when taking anything from nature and make sure it's legal!
Gather the four elements. Light a candle, an incense, get a glass of water... for earth you can use crystals but I personally like having living plants.
You can turn off the lights to help your mind slow down. You can focus on the candle, or close your eyes so that you can pay more attention on what you feel rather than what you see.
Dress for the occasion. No particular outfit needed, just try to make it feel special.
You can gather and use any personal tools you have, like a wand, athame, or sacred necklace.
It is preferable to have a protective token with you, if you have any. If you donโt a protection circle will do!
Please remember you can connect with spirits without any of these, and you can have all of these and still feel nothing. These are things that usually HELP, but it's YOU who makes it happen.
When I met my dragon guide it was through a tarot reading. I didn't even have my own cards, I used a website to draw my cards and after I did I felt the need to close my eyes and just "feel it". I was not yet ready to work with this dragon (damn, it took me almost a decade), and even though I doubted it when the time came it turned out my odd attempt at tarot reading was actually VERY accurate.
I did not use a specific spread as far as I remember. I was never a spread type of reader. I just pulled the cards with the intention of figuring out the energy of the dragon and the meaning revealed itself with each card drawn, as well as their collective energy.
Some ideas of what to look for in your divination session are:
Is there a particular element, symbol or environment this dragon is associated with?
What can they teach me?
What should I do to connect and work with them?
Do they think I am ready? If not, what should I do?
What are they like? Big and bulky, or slender and gracious? Do they have limbs? How many? What colors do they like most?
What do they expect from how? How are you supposed to behave around them?
These answers may come to you in the cards (literally) or through your intuition (subjectively). Both are valid, don't restrict yourself just to what you see.
Remember no two readers read the same way. If you are already into divination, work with whatever you have the most affinity with. If you like tarot spreads or boards, that's awesome! If you're more of a intuitive reader don't be afraid of trusting yourself either. As long as you are prepared, you're good to go.
If you're not a reader and would instead like to get someone else to do the divination for you, make sure you are familiar with the reader. What do they usually read? What is their moral compass like? How do your guts feel about them? And even after the reading, it's important you trust what your own intuition says about it all.
Meditation means different things for different people.
For some it can be a state of relaxation and observing ones thoughts and feelings. Feeling energy. If this is the route you want to take, before you start the meditation you can invite the dragon to come and let you feel their energy.
You can also kind of turn this into a prayer/conversation kind of thing by talking to them either verbally, or through sharing with them your thoughts and/or feelings. I really like doing it this way because it feels very personal and emotions can get very strong. However, it is basically impossible to do if you are struggling with negative feelings or feeling very anxious. Unfortunately if you're not at balance and you can't bring yourself back to a relaxed state feeling them is going to be really hard.
The other way to do meditation is through guided meditation. With this technique you will have someone else being your guide and taking your mind on a journey. This is very beginner friendly and something I enjoyed a lot when I was first getting into meditation.
You don't have to restrict yourself to everything your guide says. They are there mostly to help you stay in the right mindset and remind you of what you're doing, plus facilitating your connection.
There are a few dragon-specific meditations online. Unfortunately there aren't many, but if the ones there are don't work for you you can either improvise with a more general guided meditation or use ones aimed at spirit guides and deities.
I'm using the word prayer to describe "establishing some sort of dialogue with a spiritual entity". If you'd like you can write your own prayer and treat it more as a sort of reverence to the dragons, this can definitely deepen your connection.
But prayer can be as simple as sitting in silence, in a peaceful mindset, and talking to your dragon guide. I would avoid unimportant mundane matters... It is best to have a dialogue that can actually help you connect with the dragon. Telling them your goals, your thoughts, asking about them... then just pay attention to how your body feels, and what thoughts come up. You may wish to avoid talking about problems right away if your focus is to get to know them.
This sort of direct-ish communication doesn't necessarily require anything fancy. If you are able to tune in, you can do it anywhere. But as I mentioned before, certain tools can help you with that, and it's always a good idea to make sure you are protected.
Be specific about it and ideally set a time period for it to show up. If you ask for a sign that is too easy to come up and easily explainable by physical causes then anything can feel like a sign and lead you into delusion. If it's too complex it can take a long time to manifest in the physical world.
Also keep in mind a sign can come in a more subjective way. For example, if you ask for a rainbow apple to confirm a sign from your dragon perhaps you'll not get a literal rainbow colored apple, but instead a crazy music video with psychedelic rainbow aesthetic and random apples (as well as other objects) thrown around. Yeah this has happened to me - but regarding Loki.
Overall I'm very very careful with signs and I'd rather try the other methods a few times before asking for this one because it's way too easy for your mind to get in your way (either making you doubtful or leading you into finding your signs) or you asking for things that are too out of this world. For the average person asking for signs is not healthy or trustworthy. Plus, it rarely gives you any further insight into the dragon.
After you're done make sure to thank the dragons for their time and energy however you like. It is a great time to give them an offering if you haven't already.
If you did not feel anything, keep trying. Keep this off your mind for a few days then try again, or try the next few weeks once per week. If you are still unsuccessful you can ask the dragons why they are not showing up, or what is blocking you from feeling them.
If you felt something but still couldn't figure out much about the dragon, be patient. There could be a number of reasons why. You may ask them for clarification!
In any case, the keyword is Patience. It can take years for you to be truly ready to work with them. Sometimes they are willing to work with you, but even when you think you are ready, you end up backing away... and that's okay. They are rarely in a hurry, and neither should you.
Thank you for reading!
Colour magic is a component of many magical traditions since colours have specific connections. However, keep in mind that certain traditions may establish their own correspondences that differ from those listed.
When it comes to employing these correspondences, be imaginative and think outside of your usual comfort zone. You may have a variety of candles, coloured paper, altar cloths and fabric, ribbons, or even ink on hand to employ in different magical workings.
Spells and incantations should be written in the proper colour or on comparable coloured paper. You may use stones, plants, or flowers in whichever colour you like. If you meditate or perform chaka energy work, you can visualise yourself surrounded by light of the colour you require for your magical works. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.
Red-
Red is associated with boldness and health, as well as sexual love and passion. It can be useful in spellwork. Use red lipstick to kiss your partner, fill a red cloth pouch with herbs to improve your sex life, or light a red candle before a difficult task to give yourself a little additional bravery. If you participate in sports or other competitive activities, wearing anything red under your uniform might boost your confidence.
Red is also connected with war and strength, so if you're ready to engage in physical or mental combat, red may be a helpful colour to have; imagine yourself bathed in a great crimson glow before marching into battle. Red is also related with the root chakra. As a result, it is linked to our sense of stability as well as our interactions with the physical and material worlds.
Magic uses: Love, physical energy, health, willpower, Passion, courage, strength, intense emotions
Pink-
Pink represents friendship and pure, innocent love. Have a crush on someone but aren't quite ready to ignite the flames of passion yet? Use pink roses or other flowers to convey your message. Dress in pink to make new acquaintances. Burn a pink candle to invoke emotional and spiritual healing magic, or to foster a new relationship.
Magic uses: Romance, spiritual awakening, partnerships, children's magic, Affection, friendship, companionship, spiritual healing
Orange-
If you're working for attractiveness and encouragement, incorporate orange into your magical endeavours. Light an orange candle to attract fresh chances into your life; if you desire excitement and adventure, wear something orange that will catch people's attention. Orange is a colour of creativity and self-expression, therefore utilise it while performing magical rituals connected to concerns like writer's block, or if you're an artist who feels like your muse has been suppressed recently. Because orange is connected with the sacral chakra, it represents both sexuality and emotion, particularly our ability to form emotional relationships with others.
Magic uses: Adaptability to sudden changes, encouragement, power, Energy, attraction, vitality, stimulation
Gold-
Gold is related, as one might expect, with money prosperity, commercial ventures, and solar connections. Hang gold colours around your entryway to attract money, or burn a gold candle for workings that will help your business succeed. If you want to give your profession a magical boost, wear gold jewellery or keep a piece in your pocket. Gold is also beneficial in situations concerning the law, courtrooms, and the justice system; if you are waiting for a judgement in a civil action or a criminal case, tuck a piece of gold paper inside your shoe before entering the courthouse.
Magic uses: Success, health, ambition, finances, good fortune, divination, Inner strength, self-realization, understanding, intuition
Yellow-
Yellow is an excellent colour for persuasion and protection. It's a bright, cheery colour that promotes happiness - and when people are happy, they're far more inclined to see things your way! Yellow is associated with self-empowerment due to its affinity for the solar plexus chakra. A person with a strong solar plexus chakra has a good mix of self-confidence and self-control.
Magic uses: Communication, confidence, divination, study, Intellect, inspiration, imagination, knowledge
Green-
As you might expect, green is associated with financial wealth and money, but it is also firmly linked to fertility magic. Green also corresponds to the heart chakra. It is our emotional centre, which allows us to love others and receive love in return. Forgiveness, romantic love, compassion, empathy, and platonic love are all centred in the heart chakra, thus use green for spellwork including these topics.
Magic uses: Prosperity, employment, fertility, health, good luck, Abundance, growth, wealth, renewal, balance
Light blue-
Light blue is connected with magic, including healing, patience, and understanding. To promote wellbeing and good health, sew a sachet or pillow packed with therapeutic herbs or crochet a baby blanket out of blue flannel cloth. If you have a sick buddy, write their name on a blue candle before burning it. Another wonderful suggestion is to give them a pack of blue socks.
Blue is also the colour of the throat chakra, which serves as our communication centre. It's what allows us to be honest and open with the people in our life. Our capacity to trust and be trustworthy, to speak truly and fairly, all stem from the throat chakra, therefore utilise light blue if you need to get to the bottom of a problem or establish channels of communication.
Magic uses: Well being and good health, communication r better communication spells. Healing, psychic ability, harmony in the home, understanding, Peace, truth, wisdom, protection, patience.
Dark blue-
If your magical practice involves despair and emotional weakness, dark blue is the colour to utilise. Dark blue, or indigo, is associated with the brow chakra, where many people think our Third Eye is placed. Our ability to self-realize, to develop our psychic powers and empathic skills, is linked to the brow chakra, as is our ability - and desire - to recognise, admit, and then let go of emotional baggage, thus employ dark blue in workings of this type.
Magic uses: Healing, psychic ability, harmony in the home, understanding, Peace, truth, wisdom, protection, patience
Purple-
Purple is the colour of royalty, and it represents ambition and strength. Wear a purple tie or scarf as an accessory if you know you'll be at a business meeting where there may be disagreement. Purple or violet is related with the head chakra in several metaphysical systems. This is the part of ourselves that is concerned with our connection to the Divine, the Universe itself, and our capacity to understand our role in the big scheme of things. If you're doing magic to strengthen your connection to the deities of your tradition or path, utilise purple.
Magic uses: Spirituality, wisdom, devotion, peace, idealism, Divination, enhancing nurturing qualities, balancing sensitivity
Indigo-
The spiritual connotation of the hue indigo is commitment and sincerity. Indigo is an extremely dark blue with hints of violet. In the ancient world, lapis lazuli was one of the earliest stones mined and used in jewellery. It was a positive hue that was thought to shield the deceased from evil in the afterlife.
Magic uses: Emotion, fluidity, insight, expressiveness, Meditation, clarity of purpose, spiritual healing, self-mastery
Brown-
Brown can be used in projects involving the environment or animals. If you need to reconnect with the natural world, light a brown candle or carry some brown dirt in your pocket. A sigil, which is also connected with home life and stability, can be created on your door or threshold with a brown marker or paint. Inscribe spells or charms on brown paper; sandwich-sized lunch bags are ideal for this!
Magic uses: Endurance, solidity, grounding, strength, Balance, concentration, material gain, home, companion animals
Black-
Use black in magical workings involving negativity and exile. If someone bothers you, jot down their name on a sheet of paper. Burn the paper around the edges with a black candle, telling them that you are burning away any hostility, desire, jealousy, or other sentiments they may have towards you. Burn as much of the paper as you can, leaving only their name, and then bury it. Another alternative is to put their name on a black balloon, load it with helium, and then carry it far away before releasing it into the sky.
Magic uses: Dignity, force, stability, protection, Banishing and releasing negative energies, transformation, enlightenment
White-
White represents purity, honesty, and our connection to the divine and higher selves. It should be noted that in candle magic, many Pagan traditions allow for the use of a white candle instead of any other colour. Use white for workings that involve harmony and peace, the consecration of magical equipment, blessings, and purification.
Magic uses: Peace, innocence, illumination, purity, Cleansing, clarity, establishing order, spiritual growth, understanding
Silver-
Silver symbolises reflection and truth, intuition, and lunar connections. If you need to undertake any full moon scrying or any other type of activity involving psychic development, dreaming, or astral travel, use a silver candle. Because of its lunar ties, silver is associated with women's secrets, the tides, and pregnancy.
Magic uses: Wisdom, psychic ability, intelligence, memory,Spiritual development, psychic development, meditation, warding off negativity
Grey-
Grey is often connected with stability, calmness, and composure. Grey stones signify something long-lasting and sturdy. It is also a colour linked with knowledge gained through ageing. Because of this, some people link grey with ancestral representation. Grey can also be connected with loss or depression, and it can affect the mind and body by eliciting disturbing feelings. Because grey is a combination of black and white, its meaning varies - deeper hues closer to black can be more enigmatic, while lighter shades closer to white can be more enlightening.
Darker colours, such as charcoal grey, invoke the power of black but lack the negativity associated with black, whereas light greys share some of the traits of white. Grey is considered a colour for both men and women. Light greys are regarded feminine, whilst dark greys are considered manly.
Magic uses: Stability, contemplation, neutrality, reserve, Complex decisions, binding negative influences, reaching compromise

When we connect with the Earth's energy, we tap into a powerful source of vitality and strength that flows through nature. By grounding and centering ourselves, we draw on the Earth's stability to find balance and calm within. Simple practices like standing barefoot on the ground or imagining roots extending from our feet into the soil help us feel deeply connected to the Earth's energy. In tuning into this natural rhythm, we can find comfort and support, especially during times of uncertainty.
Earth Symbols: acorns, trees, stones, leafs.

When we connect with the Air element, we tap into the limitless potential of our mind and spirit. Practices like meditation, visualization, and breathwork help us tune into the subtle flow of Air, expanding our awareness and opening up new possibilities. Meditation, in particular, quiets the mind's chatter, allowing us to focus on our breath and find inner peace and clarity. By paying attention to the gentle rise and fall of our breath, we ground ourselves in the present moment and nurture a deep sense of mindfulness.

When we connect with the Water element, we dive deep into the flow of our emotions and intuition, letting ourselves be gently guided by the currents of our subconscious mind. To deepen this connection, spending time near water can be incredibly powerful. Whether you're sitting by a river, taking a bath, or simply drinking a glass of water with intention, you can feel the influence of Water. When we immerse ourselves in water or let its flow wash over us, we allow our emotions to flow freely and surrender to the natural rhythm of life. This opens us to the transformative energy of Water, helping us embrace our inner mysteries and move gracefully through life's changes.
Water Symbols: sea shells, water waves, dolphin, pearl

When we connect with the Fire element, we tap into the fiery depths of our soul, awakening our deepest desires and aspirations. Practices like ritualized burning, candle magic, and sun gazing help us align with Fire's transformative energy, igniting the flame of our true purpose. Ritualized burning is a powerful way to work with Fire's energy. It allows us to release what no longer serves us, creating space for new growth and transformation. By writing down our fears, doubts, and limiting beliefs on paper and then burning it in a sacred fire, we symbolically free ourselves from their grip, clearing the path for fresh starts and new beginnings.
Fire symbols: fire, torchs, dragons, garnet

Hekate is known as a protector of entryways, borders, and crossroads.ย She is also aย Cthonicย (underworld) goddess who exists on the peripheries of the pantheon, and teaches witches like Circe and Medea their magical crafts. Therefore,ย she has darker associations with death, the underworld, the moon, magic spells, and spirits.
In Hesiodโs Theogany, Hecate is the daughter of Titans Perses and Asteria. For defeating the giant Pergamon in theย Gigantomauchyย (epic battle between Olympians and Giants),ย Hekate is the only Titan to retain her powers under the rule of Zeus, who gives Hecate a share of earth, heaven and sea.
One of the most famous myths involving Hecate is Hadesโ abduction of Demeterโs daughter, Persephone. Hekate assists Demeter in the underworld by leading the way with torchlight, and later becomes an attendant to Persephone. Hecateโs sacred animal ally is a black dog, said to be Hecuba, Queen of Troy, who was reincarnated by Hekate after suicide. Another sacred animal servant is the Polecat (weasel), who was the handmaiden Galinthias punished for a deception involving the birth of Hercules.
ย Around the 5thย century B.C.E. we see the first sculptural totem figures portraying Hekate in the triple body form surrounding a central column. These votive statues for the protection of travelers would be placed at crossroads with each figure facing a different path.
Hekate is associated with a variety of frighteningย Daimonesย (minor divinities or spirits which could be good or evil.) theย Empusaeย was a shapeshifting specter with the body of a woman, and one leg of brass and the other of a donkey, with hopes of devouring a traveler. Theย Lamiaย was originally a vengeful Libyan serpentine woman who devoured children, but later was seen to take the form of attractive, voluptuous woman who would seduce a traveler and feast on their fresh blood. Theย Mormoย was another phantom bogeyman said to be sent out by Hekate to nibble on misbehaving children.ย

โ๏ธSun waterโ๏ธ
Protection, healing (especially physical), happiness, truth, clairvoyance, courage, strength, prosperity, luck, self-love, cleansing, confidence, leadership, justice, gardening, growth, warmth, comfort, fertility, and creativity
Leave the water on a sunny windowsill or outside, preferably in direct sunlight. Sunrise, 9 am, 12 pm, and 3 pm are perfect times for this, or you can leave it from sunrise to sunset. You can also add herbs and flowers to it as well (lemon peels, orange peels, marigolds, chamomile, cinnamon, sunflower, etc.) Or charge it with some stones (like sunstone, orange calcite, citrine, tigers eye, goldstone or carnelian), but please donโt put these stones in the water. You can also make a sun tea with sun water for a very potent solar spell.
Hello! You might be attuned to the magic of solar magic, a vibrant and dynamic practice that harnesses the energy of the sun to fuel spells, rituals, and spiritual growth.
