“You gotta pick yourself up. Sometimes you just gotta do it over and over, but you gotta do it. You can’t give up. I wouldn’t give up. I didn’t give up - or doubt myself - in becoming a successful musician with a successful band.”

I wanna talk about Axl for a moment

I’m proud of him. He came from an abusive family and had the most fucked up background, had a ton of mental health problems as a result of this past abuse that was so bad he had to go through therapy to recover memories in order to sort his life out…. yet he managed to work his ass off all the way up to the top of the world. Getting out of Lafayette, going to LA and spending over three months trying to track down his best friend, then forming Guns N Roses with the help of the others, and then eventually speaking out about his past and writing songs about his past and his problems and his suicide attempt, (which were so so hard to write about that it took him years, and still performed them), while being the most intelligent, caring rockstar I’ve ever known of.

His metaphors and symbolism in the music videos was one of the main things that made me realize how smart he is.

Despite what people say about him, he truly was and still is an extremely smart, caring man. Sure, he could be a bit of a prick at times, but he is the only person I know that could be that good of a person with a past like that. I’m fucking proud of him okay and although I still can’t find the right words to describe everything, this text post is hopefully enough even though I cant lay it out properly for shit and I’m rambling but seriously. Axl is great and I’m proud of him, he deserves the best.

“Slash Is One Of The Most Emotional Guitar Players That I’ve Ever Met Or Ever Seen. Coming From Indiana

“Slash is one of the most emotional guitar players that I’ve ever met or ever seen. Coming from Indiana I used to play with this guitar player named Paul and I learned about blues and emotionalism through him and he was a big Page fanatic. And then I came to L.A. and I saw all these people trying to to be Eddie Van Halen and it took 5 years to find somebody who played more from the heart rather than just trying to be the fastest or trying to be this or that to be a big rock star, someone who, like, he’d be really quiet most of the time and really won’t let a lot of himself out till he picks up a guitar and then his heart and soul seems to pour out through the guitar. I sit down a lot of times at shows, I sit down right at the stage right in front of him when he’s doing a solo, because, to me, it means just so much to hear that.” Axl Rose, 1988

“Reporters always ask about the bad boy image. They also ask why we think we’re doing so good. Well, there is no bad boy image!

It’s just us-five guys doing what we’ve always wanted to do and pulling it off. And I think the reason we’re successful is because we are real and the kids know it. Y'know a good song to me is one you can listen to and imagine yourself playing and singing. That’s real.”

“You Know, I Love The Band Fucking With All My Heart. I Mean, There Will Be A Point When This Will

“You know, I love the band fucking with all my heart. I mean, there will be a point when this will all finish, the tour will end, the album will die and I’ll keep jamming with cats that I dig playing with. But then we’ll just go do another record. I don’t think anything’s really gonna break us up. The only thing that ever made it look that way was just our own fucking insecurity. We just flip out, because everything seems to be so much. Sometimes you go, ‘What the fuck is it for?’ Then you try to look where to escape to, and there’s nowhere to go. We’ve been doing it for so long that we really would all feel sort of lost and lonely if it fell apart and we had to go out and do solo records. Because it wouldn’t be Guns. None of us could reproduce that. Axl’s got so much charisma — he’s one of the best singers around. It’s his personality. He can go out and do something. What freaks me out is, if the band falls apart, I’ll never be able to shake the fact that I’m the ex-Guns N’ Roses guitar player. And that’s almost like selling your soul.”

Once There Was This Rock N’ Roll Band rolling On The Streets…

Once there was this rock n’ roll band rolling on the streets…

Raised in a working-class Indiana family, high school dropout Axl Rose had, by age 20, compiled a police record that included charges for public intoxication, criminal trespass, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. An ELO and Queen fan, the singer became friends with guitarist Izzy Stradlin, and the two joined forces in L.A. in the early Eighties to form a band. Crafting their name from those of two groups they’d played in, Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, they formed Guns N’ Roses with English-born biracial guitarist Slash, whose parents, both in the music industry, had moved to L.A. when he was 11. With bassist Duff McKagan, whose own past included stealing a purported 133 automobiles, and drummer Steve Adler, the Gunners immediately accrued notoriety for their debauchery — alluding to the band’s heroin and alcohol abuse, their posters featured the legend “Addicted: Only the Strong Survive.”  — Rolling Stone Magazine And became one of the most awesome fucking bands of all time.
