Armored Dress. (Woman’s Life in the Armory)
This is from an art project that utilizes an armory and women’s clothing as juxtaposition.
Clothing from the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods, up to the present day, was exhibited on the Armoury’s four floors.
Renaissance fashion is characterised by cone-shaped dresses forcing the body into geometric forms. The corset confines the upper body like a piece of armour. Dresses are stiff and have a strict geometric shape, their surface resembling the metal of armours. +
