What she says: I’m fine
What she means: In Howl’s Moving Castle Sophie goes back in time and witnesses Howl making his original deal with Calcifer thus discovering the way to break Howl’s curse and before she leaves she tells Howl to find her in the future and if you recall to the beginning of the movie Howl saves Sophie from some highly questionable and rapey soldiers and tells her “there you are sweetheart, sorry I’m late, I’ve been looking everywhere for you” because he took what she told him as a child to heart and has been looking for her ever since and if that’s not the tightest shit ever I don’t know what is
Miss America - Alice X. Zhang
I noticed that Hannibal was often compared with the devil. For me, he is more like an Aztec devinity, a god of chaos who is both bestial and sublime. Tezcatlipoca, the “Smoking Mirror”, is for instance is a divinity associated to discord, war as well as memory, time and devine providence. In his honor, the Aztecs priests chose a young man who would be sacrificed and then eaten. Cannibalism was indeed quite common in the Aztec world. I believe that Hannibal would have been quite popular in such a society.

↳ Victor Von Doom
I am not my body. Not my mind. I am… I am the old trunk, filled with ancient mysteries. I am the explosion in the college laboratory. I am the mask that burns with the fires of vengeance. I am the legend that unites this nation. I am the story of Doom.
victor von doom’s parents really gave him that name and expected him not to turn evil
I think people need to realize that like, the darker you are the more types of oppression you will face if you are labeled as a non-white group–that’s just how it is. If you are light skinned or white passing, but also a person of color (or black), acknowledging that darker skinned people in your community will be treated worse isn’t taking away from your oppression. We are not saying that you have white privilege or that you don’t face racism or oppression at all. But no matter how you see things or what you think you will ALWAYS be treated better than darker skinned people in your group. Even if it is just a little better, you still will be treated better, will still get better or even representation in general and still be seen as the more acceptable/visible person in that ethnic group. That is how colorism works. It isn’t your fault, but it’s also not your job to ignore that. Colorism isn’t an American centric thing, it exists in EVERY community even those who haven’t had western influence. So that’s just something that needs to be understood. Someone discussing how they face oppression based on being darker skinned isnt taking away from your oppression—

“These days, there are angry ghosts all around us, dead from wars, sickness, starvation–and nobody cares. So you say you’re under a curse? Well, so what? So’s the whole damned world.”—Hayao Miyazaki

the more i saw the people i believed i was standing up for being walked on… the more i heard a noise machine spouting intolerance and fear, drowning common sense out, the more i wondered… shouldn’t captain america be more than just a symbol?
Here's the thing about Wanda-- I have spent the last two weeks looking at footage of Roma death. Stanislav Tomáš was murdered by police officers in Teplice, Czech Republic on 19 June, 2021. I have seen images of his broken body, and born witness to his senseless death, more times now than I can count, and I have felt powerless, as an American, to even protest his murder, as it has received minimal news coverage in this part of the world.
I literally do not have it in me, right now, to further traumatize myself by witnessing another representation of Roma murder, especially not in a scenario where so many other readers and writers will be cheering it on. If you think that sounds silly, or if you think it's inappropriate for me to conflate these issues, I'm sorry. That's just where I'm at, mentally and emotionally. That's to say nothing of the degree of anti-Black brutality that Williams has written into David's storyline, and how cruel it will be to read, especially from a white writer.
Please, read this open letter from the ERGO Network, which demands justice for Tomáš's death. It has gathered over 350 signatures from human rights organizations around the world, but until justice is met, and until the world truly understands who Romani are and what we are subjected to, we have to continue making these demands, and we must keep circulating news and information.
Allies, please share the news articles about Tomáš's death, and distribute ERGO's letter. Reblog this post, but share the links on your instagram, twitter, and facebook. Say his name, and continue speaking the names of all Black and Roma victims of hate crime and police brutality.
