‘You’re not actually the interpreter,’ Alfred doesn’t hold back the self-satisfied smirk that now spreads across his face. After all that obfuscation and stalling, where others had failed—why, they’d caved. In the face of the massive ships with which he had boldly announced himself as a newly-minted world power.
‘Quite right. I apologise for keeping you waiting.’ There’s a trace of sarcasm tinging the elder nation’s accented but fluent Dutch. ‘You must be America.’
i’ve always wanted to draw alfred and kiku meeting for the first time.
For the lovely @strudelcreme really hope you enjoy ❤️💛
As much as it was beautiful...love was a dangerous thing.
It could make you feel alive, and rip your heart out the next.
Aldo and (Y/n) knew this. But when the strongest of resolves break. Their relationship began slowly, nothing more than ghostly touches and meaning filled smiles at first. The roots of their attraction grew and grew throughout their service together, until the pair couldn't conceal their feelings anymore.
If you had to ask (Y/n), the night Aldo confessed was the happiest she had ever been. Even though they adored each other, they knew that the knowledge of their relationship would only bring heartbreak.
So they decided to keep it a secret. Not only for their love, but also for the professional side of their positions. (Y/n) knew the whispers that danced on the wind for women "like her". Words so vile, you would feel yourself irk from even listening to them. Sometimes, (Y/n) wondered how she kept her composure in a pit full of snakes. Snakes that bore human faces and spoke human words. Things would be easier this way, (Y/n) had told herself many times. It would spare them both from an unnecessary hell.
The night was young, the moon having just risen above the trees, settled in the dark canvas of night. (Y/n) kept her head high, (e/c) never leaving the twinkling stars. The soft breeze that ruffled her (short/long/medium) hair didn't go unnoticed by Aldo, who was sneaking small glances here and there. Though the pair agreed to keep their love a secret, Aldo couldn't help the way his heart yearned for her. He couldn't ignore the dreams of a possible future together, and the many beauties that life would bring. Aldo was glad he had something more to fight for than country.
The Basterds whooped and hollered as the town came into view, all dressed in civilian clothing. Remarkably, this was one of the few towns left with no Krauts in them. At least not yet. The streets were quiet, and the Basterds entered a small looking tavern. At the head of the bar, (Y/n) was greeted by a welcoming face. "Archie!" She expressed in glee, making the Brit coal his head at her. " Pleasure to see you Basterds alive and well." He greeted, shooting a smile at (Y/n).
Some might misinterpret this as flirting, but (Y/n) knew that the man meant nothing but friendship with her.
He had spoken to her before, of his life back home, and how Archie wishes to return to his wife once the war is over. Besides Aldo and the others, Archie was a man that knew (Y/n)'s worth, both to the army and the group. "Don't just stand there, Hiecox! Get us some drinks!" Donny yelled, body going over the counter. The act made (Y/n) laugh, shaking her head. "Get the man some gin, Archie! Before he tears the whole place down." (Y/n) ordered, before proceeding to order for everyone else. She had to stop herself from saying Aldo's drink of choice to quickly, for a man like Archie was very perceptive. As Archie was busy getting the drinks, (Y/n) let her eyes wander.
Wander right into beautiful blue.
She could never get sick of those eyes. They didn't need to speak to know they were communicating an ocean of longing, bodies inching just to hug and kiss each other. Aldo sent a small grin, and (Y/n) felt her own face twist upwards. The sound of glass clanks pulled (Y/n) away from her staring, but before she could grab the glasses, strong hands beat her to it. She could recognize him by touch alone. "I'll get that for ya', darlin." Aldo drawled, chuckling when (Y/n) hid her face. It was a little game they played, to confuse everyone else. The nicknames were a part of it, and everyone thought that they were just being friendly.
It didn't take long for the drinks to take their effect. Donny was already slurring his words, and Hirschberg was already trying to fight Hugo. Then, the conversation simply switched onto Aldo. "Ya know Lieutenant….I think your accent is pretty funny…" Donny slurred, a clumsy hand now on the Lieutenant's shoulder. Aldo simply chuckled, paying the drunk Bostonian no mind. Their voices began to pick up, making more jokes at Aldo's expense. But (Y/n) was not having it. She knew that they were having a little fun, but their words were getting out of hand.
It wasn't until Hirschberg began to tease Aldo about his love life that she stepped in. "Alright that's enough." She said, but Hirschberg didn't relent. "Like, how the hell ain't you married yet? I'm sure you got a-." Hirschberg breathed, before he got pushed off. “He doesn't need no wife!” (Y/n) exclaimed. Everyone's eyes fell wide, for the docile woman never had raised her voice before. It just wasn't in her nature. Hirscheberg took this as a sign. Apparently he was a lot smarter when he was drunk. His reddened face came over with a grin, and he pointed his lanky finger at them. “You and the Lieutenant have a thing going on don't ya?” Hirschberg surmised, letting out a belly deep laugh when (Y/n)’s face went red. Donny rose from his own seat, before clapping his hand on Hirschberg's back.
“I knew it!” He yelled, pointing a finger as well. Aldo stepped beside his lover, eyeing her as if to confirm his own actions. Before the young woman could react, Aldo placed his rough hands on her face, his eyes carrying a youthful determination that one only possessed in the heat of a glorious battle. His lips were a familiar feeling, one that (Y/n) had yearned to feel for such a long time. Her skin tingled, and blood seemed to rush her face.
Aldo knew there was no going back after this.
And he didn't care.
The other Basterds whooped and hollered, and Wicki seemed to be giving Archie some cash. The duo pulled away, and (Y/N) hid her face in her hands. Her man had been bold, and now she didn't know what to do. ‘’Pay up, Donowitz!” Hirschberg yelled, and Donny audibly groaned. Aldo placed his shoulder around (Y/n) and pulled her close. ‘’Welp darlin’, looks like they found out our little secret.” He chuckled. (Y/n) smiled, though the claws of worry would pry off her skin just yet. “What if-?”
“I dont give a shit what the OSS or any of those fucks have to say. I’m gonna make you my wife when we get back home and aint one one gonna stop me.” Aldo exclaimed and (Y/n) felt like she would cry. It was a strong promise, and they both knew that, but life was nothing if it wasn't a challenge. “Get a room you two!” Donny joked, a big smile on his face. “You two make a cute couple.” (Y/n) heard from behind her.
Archie gave her a thumbs up, and in a strange moment of peace, (Y/n) felt like she could actually do this. She looked up at Aldo, admiring his eyes, and she softly pecked his lips.
Now all they needed to do, was get out of France.

Habsburg VS Hohenzollern Round 1
Based on a personal HC of mine that Gilbert wasn’t exactly the confident little shit we all know and love after coming out of his Duchy years. Not to worry though - Reiner and the Hohenzollerns fixed that up real nice.
