I feel like the section of Robert Burton’s The Anatomy of Melancholy where he warns about melancholy from ‘overmuch study’ is the 17th c equivalent of that post that’s like “why are we here? just to suffer? everyday I get emails”
The sunset last night was so peaceful and comforting, as much as I’m looking forward to autumn (as you can tell from small Halloween decor making its way onto my desk) and settling into my final year, I will miss these summer evenings

This manuscript is a collection of Latin poetry and prose, consisting of mostly classical sources, but it also features some medieval works. It contains some marginal and interlinear notes and corrections in various near-contemporary hands, and some short marginal poems in red in a different hand, along with some commentary arranged in geometric patterns in the margins.
It was written in Italy, around 1471 CE.
