Seneca Village. Ever heard of it? Probably not, because now it’s known as Central Park. 200 some odd years ago, freed African American slaves FINALLY got land of their own. They built schools, churches, parks for children, and it was quite the thriving little community. Until it was bulldozed. Houses destroyed, community ripped to shreds, churches/schools demolished. To make a park. How I never learned about this ridiculous shit in school is beyond me.
Yes, you're right. The amount of deaths from the flu is higher than the amount of deaths from COVID-19. However, the mortality rate of COVID-19 is 3%. The mortality rate of the flu is less than 1%.
Yes, you're right. More white people are killed by police than black people. However, black people make up 12% of the total American population, yet make up 25% of the people killed by police, meaning the percentage is much, much higher.
It's not about numbers. It's about rates and percentages. Wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay six feet apart. And black lives matter.
My lil bro recently started watching Steven Universe and wanted to make a gem of his favorite characger

All those racist asshats trying to justify their views now that the bodycam footage of George Floyd getting arrested was leaked... shut the fuck up.
He complied - he put his hands on the wheel, then on his head.
He had a gun pointed in his face for no reason.
He was having a panic attack.
He was claustrophobic- and before you say shit about him already being in his own car: there is a massive difference between sitting in the front of your own car where you can see and control everything and can see a wide view of the space around you and know there's a lot of room, versus being pushed into the back of a police car with your arms behind your back, unable to move, unable to get a clear view of things, and with a giant wall of reinforced glass blocking you in the back. So shut the fuck up with that attempt at an argument or justification.
He asked to lie down so he could breathe. He asked to lie down so he could breathe.
The officers were not trying to calm him down. They didn't care.
No matter if he was resisting or complying with arrest, or if he was having a panic attack or if he was on drugs, none of that is a reason or justification for the officer to kneel on his neck for 8+ minutes. None of that is justification or a reason for the officers to ignore him pleading that he couldn't breathe, that he was being choked.
The entire time, he was begging for his life.
And if you're gonna say shit like "he said he couldn't breathe while he was still standing" - yeah, having a panic attack does that to you. It's not uncommon, and is actually common sense.
George Floyd was murdered on camera by police. That fact hasn't and will not ever change.
im sorry kiddos but i am really having trouble with focussing on anything other than Breonna Taylors lack of Justice.
when i tell you that i see my mother in this woman... i can't explain how real that is.
let's recap okay?
she has passive relationship with suspicious person.
cops already have suspicious person in custody.
her home was considered a soft target. that means little to no threat.
judge issues not one not two but FIVE no knock warrants.
yes i said five.
cops bust into this womans home.
she and her boyfriend were sleeping.
her boyfriend fires a shot. you know, as law abiding citizens have the right to do when someone breaks into their home.
Ms. Taylor was shot eight times.
Ms. Taylor was shot eight times.
Ms. Taylor was shot eight times
by cops who invaded her home
she died on the floor of her own home
they did nothing to try and help her.
they watched her die.
no Justice whatsoever
it's been 5 months.
somehow they've managed to make this one of those technicality on technicality type things.
im exhausted.
