Paul Simon in the 1960s wearing sunglasses
Bonus: Artie wearing them (headcanon: he stole them from Paul)
I might be down by the schoolyard with Julio btw
SO much is happening here:
Mystery man Stan Rublowsky, who is never mentioned again
Art getting cornered by the press while changing and then being stuck with them for half of the article
Paul once again mentioning that one time he tried LSD (but leaving out the part where he started hallucinating bugs in the shower)
“Normal looking, except for their hair”
“Rublowsky mentioned that he doubted that Simon owns a suit”
“Carrying the 12-string that he never plays”
“Garfunkel swung his hands around him like an airplane”
Art opening a show with “we’re not much in person”
The Daily Texan, 10/05/67

Driven mad by one of Garfunkel’s Still Water poems.
Lorne and Susan are a reference to Lorne Michaels and his then-wife Susan Forristal. The neighbor? Well—
The beginning of the poem, “I seem to lean on old familiar ways”, is a direct quote from Simon’s Still Crazy After All These Years:
The poem’s closing line is suitably bittersweet I think.
Pics I restored
STOP IT'S FUCKING CRAZY THAT MY HAIR LOOKS LIKE HIS, LIKE WHAT 😭😭

Ok just saw your most recent rebog - here is my question. What is your hottest take about S&G?
Ha, my hottest take. Let's see.
While I don't really believe Paul and Art were in love like the I'll love you forever marry me kind of love, I am quite convinced they fucked at some point.
They at least kissed...and it led to more lmao. Perhaps they were high or drunk when it happened and then maybe they each tried to deny it, but I cannot believe that in such a close friendship/partnership/thing they had, nothing of a sexual nature ever happened.
Take Art’s poem about all the tequilas he had with Paul for example. He's trying to convince the audience that it's about the two of them trying not to throw up...meanwhile 'tickle of the tonsils' is also slang for fellatio. 😌 So clever with words, our Artie.
Another hot take: Art, Paul, Penny and Carrie had a foursome.
They/themFor all things that make me smile :-)
