A Thing I Always Find Interesting About James Being A Poc Is That It Does Fundamentally Change His Character

a thing i always find interesting about james being a poc is that it does fundamentally change his character and the way he’s presented in ways i don’t think a lot of people acknowledge.

in canon we have white james, a pretentious and somewhat spoiled pureblood who means well but is unintentionally close minded when it comes to the issues that other ppl face around him. it makes sense because james is white and a pureblood. he comes from a place of privilege so his ignorance is to be expected.

but then you make him a poc in 1970s britain and suddenly everything about him changes, his entire character is rewired. he can no longer be classified as someone completely ignorant nor someone completely privileged because james now understands what it’s like to experience prejudice and hardship. his lived experiences as a marginalised person indisputably affect/influence the way james perceives and acts around other people.

these two, while both james, are fundamentally two different characters as a result of their backgrounds and personal experiences. james as a poc cannot be the same as white james which i think is an interesting aspect of his character that should be explored more in fanon works.

I once got half way though a fic before realizing that it was a incest fic with Sirius and Regulus. Only to realize that I had been reading Remus as Regulus and I was in fact good to continue reading it

does anyone else speed-read marauders fics and read Remus as regulus and vice versa and are super confused when regulus talks about how awesome and hot and just totally awesome and kissable Sirius is and when Remus talks about how much he’s in love with James and how infuriatingly wonderful he is?? or is everyone else normal

I love how Sirius and Regulus are both huge drama queens, but in two completely different way.

At the slightest inconvenience, Sirius would roll on the floor and whine, demanding 100% of his friends' attention, while Regulus would simply go drown himself in the lake.
